Goody's is the flagship of a small truck stop south of the 10 fwy at the 215/10 interchange. The food is perfect comfort food, the type you would expect to find at a good truck stop while traveling. It's local for me which makes it even better. For breakfast I've had the huevos rancheros & Machaca and eggs as well as the country fried steak. All were delicious but they really do the Mexican food right (make their own beans, rice, salsa, and guacamole). They serve bowls of their house chili so I went for their chili burger (open faced) with fries so I could do chili cheese fries and the chili burger of course! The chili was really good! If you are looking for a place to have a great breakfast in the morning, this is a great place to go! I would have loved to give 5 stars if the "out of the way" to please customer factor was there. Don't get me wrong, our server was very polite, friendly and checked on us throughout our meal, but there was not a hostess to greet us or let us know we could sit anywhere we'd like. Smaller restaurants are like this sometimes, but it would make a huge difference in the overall breakfast experience. The food is great though! I ordered a New York Steak and Eggs. Which came with either home style potatoes (I got those) or hash browns, toast or pancakes (I got pancakes). Portioned well. And potatoes are amazing. Basic all American spot. Pancakes are delicious chicken fried steak was flavorful and the gravy was smooth not loaded with pork pieces. The chilaquiles were a bit spicy and made with a table salsa type and not like enchilada type sauce. Would definitely go back for a basic bread items or to try their burritos. Oh goody goody! Sorry, I just had to say that. So after reading all the reviews, I still wasn't prepared for the location and outside appearance. It is truly sad. But, that has never stopped me from trying a new place. Yelpers, just keep an open mind. Once you enter, you will see a cute diner and a nice bunch of ordinary folks and families, all with the same agenda: to stuff your face with good homestyle cooking. Today, at least 5 large parties (6 or more) were there. Popular me thinks. Just under yelped. So, first, the chicken fried steak. It comes with 3 eggs and potatoes and bread or other alternatives. Highly recommended by the waitress, but once I drilled her with my 20 questions, I had my doubts. They do not bread their own, it comes frozen. Red flag for me, so I declined. Mr. B, on the other hand, was disappointed in me, so he ordered it anyway. So here is the low down. It was good tasting, nice and crispy, a little too heavy on the breading, but came with a good cream gravy with large chunks of sausage. While I am still the #1 devoted fan of the CFS at Johnny Rebs in Orange, this is a good alternative. Especially loved the gravy! I got a menu item with two sausage patties on English muffin topped with two eggs, called the Awesome BK. The sausage was delicious, perfectly cooked , tender and moist. The scrambled eggs were nicely done. Straight out of the Eggs 101 class, i.e. not rubbery. Wow. And of course, topped with that great gravy. A good choice. Mr. B asked for biscuits and gravy with his CFS. And he asked for the gravy on the side. The biscuit was pre made, not house made, but the cook cut it open, buttered and grilled it lightly to give a crisp toasted surface. That pleased Mr. B. The portion sizes, impressive. You got plenty for what you paid, and the prices were really not bad at all. And hot diggity, they offer fresh squeezed orange juice. While we did not indulge, it caught my eye. My guess is, it is lip smakin good. You can't get better oranges than the orchards of Redlands/ San Berdu area. I would definitely try it. Also, didn't try the coffee. I am a righteous snob, yeah, I know. All in all, a good breakfast. They made me happy to find them. This place got both of our votes for many check-ins to come. read more

We first stumbled upon this placed when my in-laws were in town and were taking an early morning flight out of Ontario. Of course they wanted a hearty breakfast before their departure (and Carolyn's wasn't open early enough), so my wife and I searched desperately on Yelp for early AM breakfasts. Goodys was the only place we found that had an extensive menu and was open early enough. Although my wife was a bit skeptical due to Goodys being located in a rather run-down area of the town, we didn't really have any other option. Goodys ended up being a really great option with unlimited coffee, freshly-squeezed orange juice, and the entire menu available for ordering including non-breakfast items. Goodys has its roots as being a truck stop so they serve everything on their menu the entire time they are open. That worked great for us because the last time we went, my wife was not in a breakfast mood and opted for a delicious tuna melt sandwich. The breakfast items are also really generous in proportion and include the classics--eggs benedict, chicken fried steak, omelettes, burritos, etc. Now this is our go-to place whenever we have guests over who have early AM flights. read more

Extremely poor experience at this place today. This was our first visit here, I love diners and really wanted to report back on this particular diner's "GOODY", it wasn't Goody though... Pretty bad actually. I was served visibly old fruit for breakfast. The dried out pineapple looked and tasted washed, possibly their attempt to bring it back to acceptable life somehow. Next, I went for the cantalope thinking it was safe... NOPE! T'was expired. Yuck! Biscuits and gravy were no good my friends, it epically failed to deliver that delicious peppery country gravy taste that we all know and love. Oh, and as a special "gift wrapped" surprise, our silverware was dirty. I was kinda taken back by the irony of that actually, the servers were very busy throughout the entirety of our visit, very meticulously rolling said silverware in paper napkins, all of them. I wonder if they are picking out dirty silverware as they're rolling it? Not so sure. Pancakes and sourdough toast were great, plus the ice cold canned Squirt soda, too. Country potatoes were flavorless. Service wasn't anything special. They were not busy when we stopped in, not very welcoming or friendly. The food proportions are huge, service has always been very kind, and the interior design is really interesting with the clocks (go and you'll see). This is a tasty food spot. It's very convenient if you are driving through the area off the 10, right off the Waterman exit. The location is right at the Truck Stop and next to the Westrux International dealership, so it would be great if you are a truck driver stopping in at the scales, or getting your truck serviced at the dealership. I was hungry so I asked the employees at Westrux what was good nearby. Several of them suggested Goody's. It's the typical small diner / truck stop vibe - cozy, with a long countertop. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries, which were both delicious. The portions were good. The iced tea was good, and the service was friendly. I called for a pick up order. The lady took the order fine but didn't tell me my price and didn't take my name. But walking in the place is not busy for lunch. There was only one customer. But before even getting greeted by the lady which I don't think she even knew someone came in.. all the cooks and men in the back were staring through the kitchen and even came to the side door to stare. Which made me feel so uncomfortable. I'm always covered for this reason. I was debating on coming back in but I will never. The food was not worth the price. I like quality. I am really baffled that this place has received five stars. I had French toast and half an order of biscuits and gravy and both were disgusting. The French toast was basically grilled bread (on one side) that had been covered in butter (again only on one side). The center of the bread was completely dry. First time here: I ordered the avocado omelette with bacon pieces and egg whites only, and it comes with cheese. I selected no sour cream. I substituted the home fries/hash browns for fresh fruit and pancakes instead of toast. The omelet was cooked well but the down fall was the American cheese they chose to add, it was seriously a slice of kraft American cheese which I ended removing. The avocado slices and bacon where just right. The fruit was sweet and the pancakes were tasty and fluffy. Abby and I went here for breakfast. She had a scramble with veggies and hash browns, and I has the Louisiana "skillet" and biscuits&gravy. Her scramble was unremarkable at the time. She did not finish the dish. The Louisiana skillet was served in a cold porcelain skillet shaped dish (even Denny's has cast iron ones), the hash browns were cold and the hot links were about as spicy as toast. Edible but underwhelming. I did not finish this dish. The biscuits & gravy were the one redeeming feature of the meal. Two buttermilk biscuits with a lot of gravy. the gravy was full of a generous amount of bacon bits, enough so that I never got a bite without bacon. I ate all of this.
