First time visitor to this Goodwill location, and I was rather impressed! We stopped here to kill some time during a day trip into Gainesville on a Thursday in July. The store is located near a main shopping area in Gainesville, so it is right off of a well-traveled stretch of road. There is a private parking lot available around the building, and we did not have trouble finding a spot. We parked on the side and walked around the corner to enter into the business. On this particular day, there were a healthy amount of people shopping around. This was the day before the Fourth of July weekend began, so it might have been heavier in traffic with people being off, but not exactly sure! It did not impact my overall experience in the store, though. The store itself is huge! There were endless racks of clothes to look through. You really could spend hours here just browsing through each rack. In addition, there was a solid selection of furniture in the back. There were also a lot of books, and several aisles full of decor, seasonal items, housewares, kitchen, and other items. Would be a great place to look if you were furnishing a house, or looking for items for a vacation home. Ended up taking home a Christmas basket, a beer bottle decoration, and some books. We spent around $20 on all of the items. Generally speaking, I thought the prices were fair. Thrift stores can be so hit or miss with the pricing, but I thought everything was okay for the most part. Checkout was quick, and the staff were friendly. I truly did not have much interaction with staff during my visit, but the person who checked us out was kind and prompt. I would recommend giving this store a visit if you have never been, or find yourself with some time in the area. It was huge, generally organized, reasonably priced, and had a solid variety of items. As with any thrift store, it will be hit or miss, but I think it is worth giving it a look! read more

Well, this goodwill had been revamped. Rebuild very spacious, and definitely have something for almost everyone. I like collectible items. Didn't find much. couple of the aisles had stuff all over the floor, you had to be careful where you were walking or you my trip. I didn't buy anything so but I was said hello to by a couple people that were volunteers or work there. A lot of the stuff I did look at was priced fairly cheap as expected. There are definitely worth a visit if you're looking for clothes or items on a budget. read more

This is easily one of the most organized Goodwills I've ever visited--especially when it comes to the clothing section. Shirts were color-coded and sorted by sleeve length, fit, and even style. It made browsing so much easier. The only downside I found is that the prices are a little higher than other Goodwills but not by much. The rest of the store was more typical of a standard Goodwill--somewhat cluttered but nothing out of the ordinary. Staff-wise, it was a mixed bag. A few employees came off as rude or uninterested, but others were incredibly helpful. One of the nicer staff members even signed me up for a rewards program that comes with some great benefits. From what I gathered, the program might be specific to this location, which is a unique perk. All in all, if you're thrifting mainly for clothes, this location is definitely worth checking out! read more

Very nice here, a little dirty but expected since it's a goodwill, and in all honesty, best goodwill I've been to! Awesome finds here, and it's a remodeled store anyways. This location can get pretty busy at times but there's a medium sized parking lot. Well organized and items are usually priced very low. read more

This location was closed down for a rebuild, and I must say I had higher expectations when I finally got the chance to shop after reopening. It was really difficult to find anything of decent quality honestly, which was not my usual experiences at this location. Not sure how they choose what stuff they sell, but quality of items have really just gone down. Some prices have increased to a point I wouldn't even bother getting 2nd hand. You might be better off buying that fast fashion straight from the store. May have been just an off day, so I'm looking forward to going again. Otherwise I'll have to start going back to the 13th location. read more

My first time stopping in and all I have to say is that the place was full of stuff!! Which makes any Thrifter happy. Now some of the prices were a little bit I would say overpriced but other than that I feel they had great customer service and it was well managed. read more

I don't know why I bring donations here. These people act like they are doing a big favor by accepting them and are rude. I donate a lot of nice things because I shop online too much. Next time I will donate to better cause that does not exploit its workers (even if they are grouchy) read more

This is a great Goodwill! I wanted to write a reveiw because it's much better than a lot of other Goodwills. Im from Jax and this one is way bigger, more well stocked and has some quality brand clothes and Dvds/games if you look. Price was fair, a bit more expensive than Salvation but worth it. read more

If I could make this a big 0 I would. We went to this store, bought a dining room set. Followed the normal procedure, took the price tag off, took it to the cashier, paid for it in full. Watched the salesperson put the sold sign with our name on it, took the receipt and went home to make arrangements to move it. When arrangements had been made, we called back to ask the procedure for pick up they told us it had been sold to someone else!!!!! We would have to come back for a refund. This was all in less than an hour. We returned to the store and the dining room set we had purchased and had a receipt for was GONE!!! The manager "Johnathon" wouldn't even speak to us. They let someone remove it from the store with a sold sign with our name on it and didn't even contact us!!! WTF. They haven't heard the last from me yet. I plan on telling everyone and everything about how they do business there. read more

I have been going to the goodwills in Gainesville for many many years, I cannot believe the prices that you are charging now, and the top it off these are all donations, The story goes that the big fat executives are making a lot of money, because of this I have been putting my donations to churches to animal shelters to other places that really need it other than the goodwills the scammers, just my opinion read more

Goodwill Industries was started back in 1902, as an urban outreach ministry, it grew into a business that relied only on community donations to fill their stores. It is one of the hugest not for profit businesses today, and it uses a whopping 84% of its collections to provide employment, training, a support to millions of workers in the US alone!! Okay, history lesson over. Lets talk about "the will" as i call it. There are two locations here in gville, and the 34th street one, in my thrifty opinion, is the only one worth going to. It is large, organized, and basically clean (I will get to the nitty gritty in a bit). I have never ever left here empty handed, It would be against my beliefs to do so. Because, there is just too much awesomeness here to not find something you have to have. One persons junk is my new outfit/ art project /set piece/ decoration. Shirts, shoes, tops, bottoms, suits, dresses, luggage, art, books, toys, furniture, purses, plates, baskets, games, baby clothes, sheets, pillows, rugs, electronics, cds, dvds, and so on and so on. When i first started shopping here, I never thought it as some "poor persons" go to, as if you had to be destitute to not be at the mall. I know plenty of people who would rather die then wear second hand and for that reason i usually blow my nose on new outfits at target in the dressing room...ok I dont do that but cmon people stop being so uppity....and come see what youre missing!! Half the fun is the search, for the find of the day, for the designer dress, or vintage treasure. Ive gotten many a halloween costume or theme party outfit here. Some of the clothes arent in the best of shape, and some have the tags still on. its all a matter of dedication, patience and attitude. Its never that crowded, and there are some serious characters that are regulars (the lady that sings to herself, the dude wearing bells). My only complaint is the dressing rooms, in a place like this you are going to get people who dont comply with the "put what you dont want back on the rack outside" rule, so you have to a)ignore it on the floor or b) put it back yourself. I usually ignore it so i can keep the room, and someone doesnt grab it while Im being a good will citizen. The dressing rooms are also very hot, and sometimes reek of whoever was in there before (Secret, strong enough for a man but made for a woman). BUT this little minor complaint never keeps me away. ALSO for those who dont know, Goodwill has a website. Big, spacious, need more inventory/donations. Think the college kids clean them out regularly. Well sorted clothing in colors, furniture, limited toys, curtains, sheets, or just junk. It is clean as possible for a thrift store, still has that Thrift store smell. Which is not a compliment but goes with the territory. Staff friendly, prices are generally cheap. Its hit or miss. I love Goodwill Industries. They are good people who do many positive things in many of the cities I have lived in. This store could be better. The parking is atrocious. This location has a employment center too, so that's just more people with more cars. This isn't the biggest or the best Goodwill store I've been to and it doesn't have the best items. But the worst Goodwill store either. I've heard it is one of the top Goodwill store locations, so maybe I'm just missing the good stuff. The staff is friendly enough. It's fine. read more

You would think that a goodwill in a college town would have furniture. This place doesn't have much of anything, and it isn't clean.

Store was very busy today & most of the people in there were not wearing masks, even though there was a sign on the door clearly stating that Masks were required. There was a woman in there hacking and coughing with no mask & not covering her mouth. I walked around her but she continued to hack & cough, Even though I commented to please put on your mask and cover your mouth when you cough. Her hacking and coughing continued. I then went up to the clerk in the front and reported the woman as well as everyone else in there that is not wearing a mask. Just wanted to draw her attention that the sign on the door was not being enforced properly. I got the hell out of there, mainly because the woman coughing looked very sick. This place is awesome!!!! I bought 10 books for $1, a formal outfit for next to nothing, and a ton of tchotchkies that I know I'll never use! The staff has always been super helpful even when I'm looking for something specific that they might not even have. This is a donation center, think shopping for the homeless. I also used to come to Goodwill constantly around 2009. But for some reason, this place has gone downhill fast. I honestly think it has to do with its heavy traffic. It is located on 34th street near Kohls/Backyard Burgers, across from the Kangaroo. It has a lot that is always full to the point where I have just left, unable to fund parking. I used to go in here and find books, clothes, bags for a few backs. Now dresses are $6, shirts are $4, and pants are ~$5. I can buy that stuff NEW at WalMart! (I know, I'm high class...) Their clothes are always a disappointment. I would consider buying here for scrubs only. Now, that's not to say they never have anything good. I'm sure they did at one point. But the traffic is so high, I think there are people who come here daily just to snatch up the few decent items they get. And so overpriced... really, why would I pay almost retail when I can go to TJ Maxx, and for the same price get it new? However, this is my no. 1 spot to donate stuff because it's quick and painless. You drive around back and someone comes and take your stuff off your hands ASAP. read more

This Goodwill is awesome. It's large and has a good variety of housewares, clothes, and various knick-knacks. I always go in with the intent to find something neat and usually walk away with said item. Typically I don't spend more than $5! Just be prepared to fight for parking. Example: boyfriend and I walked away with some neat drinking glasses and a wine rack for around $7 today! I call that a deal! read more

This is not the Goodwill you want to go to. I will eventually upload pics but they do not seem to understand that what they have is mostly junk. This place is also very old looking and the layout is too crowded- even without a shopping cart. They tend to pack as much as they can into their racks and shelves when they need to start choosing quality over quantity. I have seen things sit here for weeks at a time without moving from the same spot. I have seen a couch so covered in dog hair that it reeked. They have been, lately, slapping just random prices on the stupidest things ever.. which has led me to writing this review. Good: They have a bigger selection of shoes if you can find your size and a pair in decent condition. Clothing is a set price. Bedding is a set price. Kids section is a must for kids. Bad: They put out some of the worst quality furniture I've ever seen. They price dollar tree items for 1.99+. Junk. A lot of junk on the wares shelves. A lot of broken things. Racks are too packed. This store is selling brand new items for an over price. The brand new items are in the front and take up a lot of room. Their system to check out, despite being newer, takes a longer time. Long lines at busy times. No one on the floor to answer questions. Best times to go: weekdays.. right when they open (be ready to try and outpace resellers, though) a few hours after opening (they've had time to get things out) before 2pm (because they get busy after 2pm while seeming to hardly put anything out) Worst times to go: anytime after 4 they start to slow down because they close in a few hours. weekends Used to go all the time a few years back. To be clear I have been to many different thrift store in my life and this is one that I will only return to when I want to donate something. As soon as I walked in I felt dirty. Many of the clothes here were very old and worn. For the price they were charging I could do better else where. The home department was almost empty. There was many different Christmas type items that you could get and your grandmother would probably live to have too! I understand that they run on donations but every time I have gone I have struck out. So from here on out I will stick to just donating the stuff I no long want and need. The prices here are not "true" thrift store prices. Some of these items sold here I can find brand new on sale elsewhere. I much prefer to support my local thrift stores that I know are giving back to the community and offer reasonable prices for donated items. I'm so not impressed. read more

Okay, this Goodwill was slightly ridiculous on its prices. Seriously?? $6 for all hooded sweaters?? You can get a new one at Wal-Mart down the street. I'm a big thrift/bargain/ "treasure"/ whatever you want to call it type of shopper. I'm from Cali and their stuff at their Goodwills are dirt cheap compared to the prices here. Florida salaries aren't even that high compared to Cali, so what's up with the high prices on your used clothing?? I'm sure it's not that hot in Florida, so why charge $4 for all light long sleeve sweaters or even $6 for your hooded sweaters? They're only $2.95 in Cali where they have more days of it being needed than here. Yea sure, you have no state tax but it would still be cheaper in Cali with their state tax on top of it.. read more

I'm sure the other sections have useful items, but the main things I've ever searched for here (furniture, video games/software, and records) have been disappointments. The layout is extremely cramped, even with no customers. On a busy day it gets rather hectic. The items are also rather disorganized. I know a thrift store won't always have the perfect deals, and that some degree of haphazard arrangement comes with the territory, but this is one of the worst thrift stores I've been to, and I've been to a lot. read more

This Goodwill is quite large and has a nice variety of items. It's also brightly lit. The clothing is organized into type of clothing (shirts, vests, shorts, pants, etc.) as well as smaller organizations by color. In my opinion, the fitting rooms are not that bad. They may have clothes in the rooms from time to time, but for the most part, I think they work. There are at least six or seven, so it's not common that you will have to wait in line. There are restrooms in the back of the store that require a key (ask the cashiers up front). Since the check-out can take some time, I like to review my items while I'm in line. One downside of this Goodwill, I did not notice any sales (as in a certain colored tag on sale). This location also does not offer a student discount as other locations do. On top of a lack of sales, the prices are higher than those at other thrift stores. As of August 2012, some general prices were $3.50 for shirts, $5.00 for jackets, $10.00 for coats, $4.00 for shorts, etc. That being said, you never know what you might find, even if it is a little pricier.
