Last month I visited this thrift store with my elderly mother. When we entered, we noticed a…read more"service dogs only" sign. My mother has a legally recognized service dog in Massachusetts, so we didn't anticipate any issues. We spent about 15 minutes browsing and had items we intended to purchase. When my mother's back started hurting, I grabbed her small dog to help. At that point, two employees approached us in an aggressive and confrontational manner, demanding to know why she had the dog and insisting it needed to leave. The way this was handled was extremely upsetting and, frankly, humiliating, especially toward an elderly customer with anxiety in the first place. Rather than addressing the situation respectfully, we felt singled out and surrounded while simply trying to shop. I ended up taking the dog out to the car, and we left shortly after. Unfortunately, this experience completely overshadowed what should have been a simple visit. Between the high prices and the way customers are treated, I would strongly recommend choosing one of the many other thrift stores in the area. Compassion and basic respect go a long way, and this was a very disappointing experience.

The store is located near a main shopping area in Gainesville, so it is right off of a well-traveled stretch of road. There is a private parking lot available around the building, and we did not have trouble finding a spot. We parked on the side and walked around the corner to enter into the business. On this particular day, there were a healthy amount of people shopping around. This was the day before the Fourth of July weekend began, so it might have been heavier in traffic with people being off, but not exactly sure! It did not impact my overall experience in the store, though. The store itself is huge! There were endless racks of clothes to look through. You really could spend hours here just browsing through each rack. In addition, there was a solid selection of furniture in the back. There were also a lot of books, and several aisles full of decor, seasonal items, housewares, kitchen, and other items. Would be a great place to look if you were furnishing a house, or looking for items for a vacation home. Ended up taking home a Christmas basket, a beer bottle decoration, and some books. We spent around $20 on all of the items. Generally speaking, I thought the prices were fair. Thrift stores can be so hit or miss with the pricing, but I thought everything was okay for the most part. Checkout was quick, and the staff were friendly. I truly did not have much interaction with staff during my visit, but the person who checked us out was kind and prompt. I would recommend giving this store a visit if you have never been, or find yourself with some time in the area. It was huge, generally organized, reasonably priced, and had a solid variety of items. As with any thrift store, it will be hit or miss, but I think it is worth giving it a look!
