I used to go there often, last year, and two years before that. It was a good place to eat. When I went today, I ordered a burger and a milkshake. After second bite of burger I found a piece of not the best tasting piece of marmalade onion inside. It looks like there was a bit too much vinegar. When I went to speak to a manager and politely explained my situation and my experience, she started arguing with me saying that onions always taste like that, and that's how it's supposed to be. That would've been totally my last time ever considering that place to go to eat. However, within a 24 hour period, their owner David reached out to me personally and offered a thorough apology for bad experience, as well as acknowledged the error in preparing the burger after he went there himself to investigate and try the same sandwich. He also chatted with the manager to make sure they are extremely friendly and put customer's interests first. After communicating with David I can say that it is evident that it must have been simply an accident by good stuff eatery staff on a very busy Sunday afternoon. I feel like this is just a mandatory stop to get a quick bite if your in the georgetown area. I usually get their shroom burger and it never disappoints me. Do you LOVE condiments? Well your in luck because they have so many condiments to choose from! The staff is always super friendly and during the 2016 election they had presidential burgers. Their shakes are amazing, however; I would recommend sharing the shake because it is very rich and creamy. They have a 'shake of the month' which is always very good and unique. The lines get long but they always move relatively fast. Seating can be limited at times, but I don't expect anything else from an amazing burger place in the heart of georgetown. I was a little skeptical about this place just because almost every other burger place has not met my expectations. But when I walked by it smelled so good and I was HUNGRY, so I went in. I got Spikes Sunnyside and Valley Fries. The Spikes burger is my PERFECT burger, I haven't been to any place that offers anything like it. Judge all you want but I am not a fan of tomatoes and lettuce on my burger, so that was also a plus. My boyfriend really liked the valley fries, as well as the root beer float. I have come here several times, and Good Stuff never disappoints my craving for a good burger and milk shake. You can't go wrong with Spike's Sunnyside - the perfect combination for burger and egg meet...it's like a match made in heaven! The toasted marshmallow milk shake is also heavenly and extremely satisfying. The only downside I could see with Good Stuff is that the fries are often too greasy for my taste, but that might cater towards certain tastes. 7/28: Upgrading to 5 stars. I visited the Crystal City location with a friend for lunch. My last Good Stuff experience (see below) was at the Georgetown location and my girlfriend and I left disappointed. Since then, I've exchanged several emails with the owner (both locations owned by the same person). I am upgrading to 5 stars b/c my lunch today was really tasty and I'm genuinely impressed with the management. Let me preface this by stating that I am just another guy on yelp. I'm not a "superstar yelper". I'm just a guy who yelps about things that I think are either really good or bad - and generally consider my standard to be high). On to today's lunch... As my friend and I were finishing our tasty burgers and fries, I noticed who a guy who I *thought may be the owner. I wasn't sure, but approached him--indeed he was. I introduced myself and we started talking. Keep in mind that (as you can see below) I wasn't exactly complementary of the M St location. So we started talking....First, he's a super nice (and approachable) guy. Second, it's clear that he really is very committed to ensuring that all of his patrons have a completely satisfying experience. He told me about his background in the industry and how Good Stuff's supply chain ensures super fresh ingredients (they try to sell all their food everyday, so First in First Out (FIFO) ). In a previous email, he asked for details about my experience (at the other location) so he could implement any necessary changes. While we were talking, he requested that the music be turned down b/c it was a bit loud (something I had noticed earlier). It's obvious to me that he "gets it" and understands quality from both a food perspective and the overall customer experience. Culture trickles down from the top, so this is definitely a good thing. After I returned to our table, he brought over 2 complementary milkshakes. Class move, good customer service. And the milkshakes are damn good: they're rich and creamy and will likely leave you full (or wanting more). Today's experience really sealed the deal for me in terms of being a fan of Good Stuff. I won't hesitate to return to the Georgetown location - you should, too. 5/11: Management got back in touch with me and it's pretty clear to me that they really do care about the customer experience and providing a high level of customer service. Upgrading 1 star and will re-adjust after I go back (hopefully soon). 5/6: Update. Management has gone MIA after their initial communication and didn't honor their word. Perplexed, as they were so concerned after I initially posted my review. Downgrading to 1 star. 4/12 update: Upgrading the review by 1 star, as the management has reached out to me and wants to make the situation better. Always good to see that management truly cares. I expect to re-visit this location and will edit this review again after my second trip. ==== Couldn't believe how underwhelmed we were. Crystal City location is far superior. Meat wasn't seasoned enough (if at all), bun was barely noticeable, and fries were a total joke - way too soggy and way too over seasoned. Oh, and they give you the option of selecting a tip before your final payment. For what??? Doing their jobs? They don't even deliver the food to the tables. If you're going to ask for a tip at a non full-service restaurant, the food better be real good. Highly disappointed. Maybe they were just having an off-night. read more

The Prez Obama burger was the best burger I've eaten. It was a mixture of flavors that you wouldn't typically expect but works so well. Definitely recommend if you don't know what to choose. The wait isn't long at all, when I was there it wasn't more than 5 minutes max. Wish they had one of these in NYC!! read more

I got a burger there and I honestly forgot what it was called but my god it might have been one of the best burgers I have ever had. Everything about the burger was so good. It was juicy and cooked just right. They sauces they have at good stuff eatery are really good too and I just couldn't have enough of it. My friends loved the place too. Even thought I have only been there once I definitely want to go back again and eat there more often. My only complain would be that they messed up my friends burger and put bacon on it even after she told them to take it out but they replaced it with a new burger. Good Stuff Eatery offers a great burger with good/fast service and an unbeatable ambience. Came here during the evening and got the turkey burger melt with regular fries. While I didn't get the beef option (which my friend really enjoyed), the turkey burger was huge, packed with flavor, but didn't leave me feeling bloated or heavy. Next to the soda fountain is a sauces bar with tons of aioli options, which were awesome to try with the fresh cut fries. The prices were very reasonable, even with the fries and soda. While it's not the best burger I've ever had, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to quickly satisfy their burger craving. read more

Go, go, go!! I'm not someone whose first choice is a burger pretty much anywhere but we were in need of a later dinner in Georgetown and most other places had a wait. I chose the melt and it was truly tasty. Super sweet caramelized onions, two cheeses and a perfectly cooked medium well burger--messy and fantastic. The fries were greasy and delicious. Even the seasonal lemonade (strawberry) was excellent. There's plenty of seating upstairs and the service was quick. Highly recommend you give this place a try. read more

my mom and i spontaneously came here for cannoli milkshakes (the special of the month) on her birthday. when we came inside, we saw an advertisement that (coincidentally!) you can get a free shake on your birthday. the cashier hooked us up and let her get a cannoli shake for free, even though usually birthday cake is the free flavor. i was super excited to try this milkshake (cheers to fun/special flavors!) but unfortunately it wasn't too great. it tasted very artificial. i used to be the cake decorator at dairy queen, and the milkshake tasted exactly like the frosting that we would put on our cakes. My friends really wanted to come here for the burgers and I figured there'd be at least one good vegan option since this place is relatively ~trendy~, however there really wasn't. I can appreciate that they have 2 solid vegetarian burger options, but with soo many other restaurants offering the Impossible Burger, various meat alternatives, non-dairy cheeses, etc., having at least one good vegan dish (that doesn't require 50 modifications) should be the standard. As a DC native - I know a good Burger and Shake...I used to go to Hot Shoppes back in the day. I can tell you - I have never unequivacbly had a better burger and Chocolate Malt than I had here at The Good Stuff in Georgetown. I felt like I was back in College. It was Nostalgia mixed with hip!!! The Bacon Cheese Burger was on a Buttery soft roll - The Tomato was Ruby Red and the Fries were crispy and went great with the dipping sauces. BUT NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING WAS AS GOOD AS THAT CHOCOLATE MALTED SHAKE. The cashier was very nice also!! I have visited good stuff multiple times, and have been to all of their locations. I have not wrote a review, but had a really good experience there today and thought I should share it! First, before you do anything else...go there and get a toasted marshmallow milkshake. You will not regret it. I don't care if you don't like milkshakes, this is different than any other competitors! Second, the place is so fun! The staff is enthusiastic and ready to help with choosing what to get. We always have a good time when we visit! Third, the food is tasty, tasty, tasty! I love their Greek salad, French fries, onion petals and of course their burgers! I am going to stop counting, but I really love this spot. I so wish I had a good experience here. We spent $78 for our meals for 2 adults and 4 children. The staff was playful and uninterested in our arrival. We ordered 6 burgers, 2 fries and an onion petal and 4 fountain drinks and 2 beers. The drinks were fine. They only rung 1 fry (ok apparently she didn't hear the 2) and the onion petal. The sandwiches were ok at best. Sloppy, burnt, wrong, rare, red, and dry. Each one we ordered filled one of those. Personally mine was wrong and dry, 2 of the kids were red, and my picky eater was burnt. Not just a little either. Like 1/4 of it was black. The lettuce wilted, the onion straws just no. The burgers have amazing taste, perfectly cooked, and thick patties.However, they are very small. They fill you up, but not the big greasy drunk burger most Americans crave on a Saturday night. My husband got the salty caramel milkshake and between every sip he would insist it was the BEST milkshake he's ever had. I had the cookies and cream milkshake, however me nor my husband were able to finish them because their straws are probably the cheapest, most poorly made straws on the planet. I am sooo obsessed with Good Stuff. I can't seem to ever order anything different but that's because every time I get my same burger I crave it again and again! I've been to both locations and they're both great. Always very crowded but they handle the rush well. Here's what I order: the Spike's Sunnyside (bacon, egg, cheese, what could be better??!?!?!?), the village fries (looove the rosemary on them!) and if I'm feeling wild I also get the Toasted Marshmallow shake which is the BEST shake I've EVER had!!!!
