Out shopping, feeling peckish, couldn't resist the name ;-) Pretty much your standard Chinese + subs + fried stuff store, with a counter and some tables. Clean, friendly service. No fountain, just can and bottled beverages. Moo Goo Gai Pan was a generous serving for $6, lots of tender chicken, no steenking broccoli. But canned mushrooms, a bit too much celery to go with the bok choi, bamboo shoot, snow peas, and water chesnuts, and very timid seasoning keep it down to three stars.

First pic shows what I ordered, second shows what I got.

Raising them included regular sushi lunch dates. Today was a typical sushi lunch date with just my eldest son. We have 2 favorite restaurants in Baltimore but seriously looking for a spot more local/convenient for us. This was the first place we attempted and it was an unequivocal NOOOOO. HOWWW are they still open? WHYYY hasn't the health department shut this place down? The entrance is shoddy. The amount of JUNK stored haphazardly is diabolical. The absence of clean, uncluttered seating is unnerving. The location is confusing. The signage is laughable. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE CHANGED ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT. Believe every picture already posted on previous reviews.

Place looks deserted. Have to order at the entrance. Menu looks typical. Interesting that on the sushi menus the quantity numbers have been reduced with a marker. Boxes with tableware and serving ware stacked on tables. No hot tea or hot drinks of any kind. Bottled Water and drinks from a cooler by the register. Ordered sushi/sashimi combo. Arrived served in a plastic tray like grocery store sushi. I was offered a plate. All pieces seem of uniformly cold like premade and kept in a cooler. Ginger and shredded radish the same. Fish was flavorless. Shrimp was flat with no taste. Rice wrap on the roll was dry. Rating the food a 2 would be generous. Ambiance maybe a three. Dirty floor, chipped paint, and Cannot speak to other menu items and don't think I will be back to find out. Disappointed as there are not many places in the area with table service and with Asian food. Not a great dining experience.

I like most other Chinese restaurants I've been to better, but this place has its unique flair and a different spin on Chinese food. This was overall a negative experience. In May 2023, I had a date, which included Northwest Chinese Food. I had met her way back in March 2021 from an online date. We didn't end up going out again. Then, shortly before this date I saw her at a hiking Meetup group, but we didn't remember each other initially. She seemed cool, and I got her phone number but realized her # was in my phone already and then remembered the March 2021 date where we walked in a park. In May 2023, it was the same kind of thing of meeting for a walk and came up with meeting at Lake Artemisia. It was actually a decent date at the lake, and we were discussing dinner. We were looking on phone weighing options. She had suggested I think Mission BBQ, but I said I literally had like a day earlier. Ultimately, she suggested Northwest Chinese saying that it was one of her favorites, and I was game to try. She had said that she didn't drive there since she lived in College Park and walked to the park, and I drove us to Northwest Chinese. I forgot to factor parking being a pain in central College Park, which I was annoyed. I don't like paying to park just to eat a meal. So, I put 1 hour in the meter, which limited our time at the restaurant but is enough time to eat. If we had gone with Mission BBQ or whatever not in central College Park, we could've stayed 2 hours if it had been good. I honestly might have nixed the Northwest Chinese idea. Even though it was close to 8 PM on a Wednesday night, the restaurant was quite busy and was a wait, which I didn't think would be on the later side on a Wednesday night. It's a small hole in the wall place. It was nicely decorated, but it's small & tight spacing with limited seating. We waited outside for 15-20 minutes. We got seated. I told the server right away we have 40 minutes left on the meter so that he was aware. The one positive was the server did do a good job respecting our time and was efficient coming around often with water, etc. We got our food in good time. But this was quite spicy and adversely affected the taste for me. The quality seemed pretty good, but because of all the spice, I didn't enjoy this meal. Additionally, it was loud in there, and I had to speak unnaturally loud to the server and was hard to hear in there. Further, we were very close to the table next to us, particularly could've joined in on their conversation. Afterwards, I drove her back home. But the dinner with the loudness, it was hard to keep much of conversation going, the time constraint of the parking, dealing with the spiciness, it ruined what had been a good date at the lake. Overall, this restaurant left a sour taste or really more accurately a spicy taste in my mouth.

We have been familiar with the area for years, as my father-in-law lived 3 minutes away, and recently we realized this was his go-to carryout. After 3 visits, I can say it's one of the best in the DMV, thanks to its flavor and food choices. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. In the summer, it is hot, and now in the winter, there is no heat. They have found ways to make it work, like space heaters on each table, but it can still get uncomfortable if you are dining in. The back area near the bathroom and the bathroom itself need a thorough cleaning. To me, it's a turnoff; it doesn't affect the food, but it does affect the dine-in experience. Again, overall, I love their food and believe it's a local gem worth a try.
