I can't recommend Lou at Good Guys enough. My 2007 Acura RL had an overheating problem that turned into a months-long headache -- the cooling fans wouldn't come on, and chasing it took me through three fan control modules and a second shop that eventually threw up its hands and said the wiring harness was bad and unfixable. Luis didn't guess. He traced the whole circuit and found what everyone else missed: the actual fault was in the power going to the module -- an amperage issue at a fuse on the battery, not the module or the fan wiring at all. He rerouted the feed to another battery post and the car has run perfectly ever since. Car has been running perfectly in traffic, no overheating, fans kicking on and off right on cue. Luis took the time to analyze and solve the problem that had beaten everyone before him. He charged a fair price, and explained exactly what he found. He's very confident in his craft and personable. I have an old 1998 Toyota Sienna Minivan. Great for driving around Brooklyn, hauling groceries and items, and parking on the street (where bumps and dents are the norm). But after the electrical/alarm system started acting up yesterday morning, causing the horn to go off for minutes at a time without my key overriding it, I knew something was wrong. Further compounding the issue was that the car was not starting at all. Uh-oh. Luckily, I was recommend to Good Guys by another reputable, local garage (Minhs). They told me that Good Guys would be better equipped to deal with what seemed like an electrical problem, and sure enough, they were. One quick tow truck drive later, and my car was safely at Good Guys. The mechanic (Luis) said he could fix it immediately while I waited, and explained everything as he worked. Two new car battery terminals later (the old ones were corroded and not transferring power anymore) and I was on my way. Good Guys identified and fixed the problem quickly, with no extra hassle or run around. I also appreciated the fact that I could be right there while Luis fixed it, watching and learning. It was a quick repair, but one that could have involved much more time and wasted effort if not properly diagnosed by a knowledgeable person. I came to get an Auxillary line installed into my car stereo and within two weeks I threw the switch they installed and immediately heard a sizzling sound and then nothing worked. The CD player, the radio, even the cassette deck. All gone. Came back with my receipt to get it fixed and got nothing but bullshit and excuses. "Not our fault." So much for that year warranty. My feedback is regarding pricing and communication, not the quality of the stereo installation (the installation was just done and it seems fine). I called on 2 different occasions and provided details on my car year, make and model, and the simple 1-din stereo I wanted installed. Both times I was quoted a price of $55, plus tax. When I got there, they indicated that a wiring harness was "highly recommended" and they would not guarantee the work as much without it. They said it would cost $25. I know that that is a huge mark-up, and sure enough, a search on the web shows that the wiring harness should cost about $5. I also know that the harness simplifies the installation work, so it actually makes it easier for them. So, they made a few extra bucks on me, but, in my mind, they sacrificed their integrity and their reputation. They should have raised the additional item when I was on the phone and I would have bought one in advance, at a much lower price. They are nice guys, but they need to improve their communication (or everyone should know that the "quote" is not a full quote). read more

This place is probably undersold on their publicity based on the number of reviews they have and their ability to take me as soon as I showed up, but it may be better that they're not too big. The fact that you don't have to choose between quality work and affordable prices is mind boggling. I came in to fix a parking sensor on my 2017 Toyota Rav4 that the dealer ridiculously tried to charge me about $900 to repair. I'm a woman, so mechanics often try to rip females off thinking they don't know cars. I found the good guys, was sold on their name and told them my issue before we agreed on $100. I get there, he does the job in 20 minutes and tells me: "that was easy, so I'll just charge you $40 instead." Who goes back on an already agreed on price? Someone who's honest, and that's priceless. Terrible. Whatever you do don't bring your car here. If it is a very simple job they might be able to handle it. I have a little bit of an older car and when I picked it up the whole electric system was off and had to be reprogrammed. This I found out after I had driven away. I had to bring it back and spend money on Uber's go back and forth. Not only that they did not reinstall panels and foot guards. Just left them on the floor of the car. And to top it off the casing for rear light they had broken.
