Have been a customer of this Gong Cha ever since they opened many years back. Small booth type store for take out only. Employees do an incredible job of preparing ingredients, taking orders and serving drinks, all within the small tiny square box. Over the years I have had many kinds of drinks from here that includes strawberry milk tea, honey green tea, mango green, Thai milk tea, with boba/jelly most times. Boba and coconut jelly have always been constantly good. They allow adjusting sugar and ice levels. After they introduced the rewards, we have been getting $5 towards drink for spending $50. Today we got an offer to get $5 off for a second drink, so we got both for less than $8. read more

I didn't have much expectation since this is in the middle of the mall. But to my surprise they make it very good here. Tried the earl grey tea for the first time it was excellent. The pearls were done just right, the right amount of chewiness and flavor. The ai-yu was good as well, very refreshing and if you prefer something caffeine free. Service was good and payment is contactless. Will definitely get more drinks next time we are visiting the mall. read more

More like 3.5 stars, but the bottom line is that the green tea was one of the most bitter I've had and the boba was a tad overcooked with under-flavouring. This is unfortunately a common issue with many tea shops, which is why it's such a relief when we come across a decent boba tea anywhere. Staff was friendlier and more approachable than others, so the underwhelming experience came down entirely to the tea and boba. I hope they continue to improve. read more

My friend that lives around here told me that they opened up a Gong Cha inside of a mall around Paramus. The staff here look like they are either super tired or really bored. Mango Green Tea: My drink has a lot of mango in it but they did not stir it evenly. I got it with the coconut jelly with 70% sugar but somehow they forgot to put the sugar in the drink. The drink was a mixed taste of bitter, mango, and coconut jelly. Peach Black Tea: My friend said that they added the sugar to this drink but they never added the peach syrup. She said that it tasted a bit weird and asked me to look at her drink. By looking at the drink you can tell that there was no peach syrup in it. Peach Slush: This drink was very refreshing on a hot Summer day. I asked for 70% sugar but I feel like it would have tasted better with 100% sugar instead. Overall: I think the staff needs to smile a little more and thank the customers. They should also pay more attention to the labels to see what the customer wants. Forgetting to put syrup or sugar is a big difference in these bubble tea drinks. read more

When I get bubble tea, I don't always get boba because sometimes it makes my stomach feel weird. But I love the jellies that bubble tea places offer. So when I came to Gong Cha and saw they offered "white pearls" in addition to the usual jelly, pudding, red bean toppings, of course I had to try them! I became an instant fan. I'm not sure what they are but they are chewy and they just so slightly absorb the beverage flavor. I've tried their mango green tea, honey green tea, and the milk foam green tea. All were great! The milk foam is pretty unique, but I didn't feel like it added all that much to the beverage except it made it a bit sweeter? But the tea, jellies, and white pearls are delicious. My boyfriend thinks I'm obsessed.. and maybe I am! PS Bonus points to Gong Cha because they reposted my post on Instagram. :) read more

This a relatively new kiosk at Garden State Plaza. I tried their classic black tea milk bubble tea to see how it compares and basically Gong Cha boba are good quality but their tea is weak. I got 30% sugar and it was perfect in sweetness (which is something Kung Fu Tea never gets right - think Kung Fu boba are extra sweet or something. Not as good as Cocos but not bad. Better than kung fu that's for sure and much more friendly. Try the pearl milk tea with pudding but definitely skip the Thai tea as it tasted incredibly artificial and powdery. read more

I was a religious devotee of KFT, and then I had Gong Cha. Wow, life changing. There's something about GC that stands out. I don't know if it's the flavor, the service or the toppings, but I loooove their mango green tea. Very rarely is their boba over/under cooked. It's always just right. I have yet to branch out and try their other flavors because I'd be sad if I didn't get my favorite, but maybe one day I'll get two bubble teas LOL. So happy Gong Cha has finally arrived in garden state plaza mall! Came by on Black Friday weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see their grand opening. They even had a bogo special (score!). They have 5 guys manning the shop which is pretty impressive for a bubble tea place and equals minimal wait time! The quality is consistent with other Gong Chas where the tea is freshly brewed throughout the day (no powder grossness). I haven't come across a drink I haven't liked yet. My top 3 are: caramel milk tea, passion fruit green tea w. QQ, and of course the classic pearl milk tea! Will def be back. It's so perfect that it's so close to the AMC, as I rather spent my calorie quota on Gong Cha than buttered popcorn. :) read more

I am so so glad I found a gong cha location in north jersey! The last time I had this bubble tea was when I was in the Edison area. Gong cha is unique in the sense that you can totally customize your drink- from the toppings to the level of sweetness and the level of ice. You can mix flavors and create your own combinations as well. Though many bubble tea places do this now, gong cha was one of the first of my experiences that allowed me so much customization that I'll always appreciate it ! While I know their oolong milk tea is one of the best and classics (which I'm planning to try soon), my personal favorite is the strawberry Oreo milk tea. This is not something I would normally care to try, but since a friend of mine insisted that it was phenomenal, I decided to order it in my first visit. I ordered it with 30% sweetness and the classic boba pearls, which I found to be just perfect. The taste is similar in a way to strawberry Nesquick- but MUCH MUCH better. While it sounds like an off combination, it is 1000% worth the try- as many friends that I've suggested the drink to would agree ! This gong cha location is located in the mall so it's usually always crowded. However, even for a Saturday night the line moves quickly and the staff was super friendly. Quick and fast service! My only suggestion is to have a menu in front of the kiosk so customers don't have to look at the menu on the table when ordering, it will speed up time. I ordered a regular pearl milk tea (recommend for first-timers), and ordered 30% sugar level. Was a little too sweet for 30% but it didn't bother me. Great selection of teas! I can definitely see why this place is a local favorite. The drinks are freshly prepared and can be made with the sweetness/ice levels of your choice. I tried the caramel milk tea with boba and really quite liked it. I went with half sugar because it would have been way too sweet otherwise. The boba ratio was also just right. Gong Cha used to be my favorite and go-to bubble tea chain while living in Singapore. So glad it expanded to the US right after I left Singapore and some clever franchisee get this location opened up in the best mall in all NJ lol. What I like best about Gong Cha is the customization options (pick your own sugar and ice levels) AND of course the freshness of the tea. Still the same fresh taste that I missed a lot and various alternatives to the tapioca pearls if you're not a fan of those. Get the herbal jelly topping if you're health and nutritional conscious. And who would've thought oats can be great toppings to your milk tea right? My personal all time favorite is still the iced matcha with basil seeds. Not only does Gong Cha have the best boba tea I've ever had in my life with options galore (although I always get the same thing), but the customer service is unmatched. Wenbo is the most stellar example of customer service as it gets... Like, I want this guy to be the "Gary Vee" of the corporate world, traveling to businesses everywhere to make them understand hospitality. I visit about 4-5 times a week with my same complicated order, but I don't even have to repeat it back because he simply asks, "The usual?". There's only been 2 times in the few months I've been a patron that my order has been slightly off, and he always sees to it that it's fixed urgently since I'm under time constraints. Boba tea is miraculously still a new beast for many people, so a lot of the customers that approach the kiosk have questions, regardless of how long the line is behind them. But Wenbo never lets on if he's overwhelmed and even gets excited when it's someone's first time having boba tea. Enthusiasm like his could easily read as phony, but he's completely genuine, the same way your buddy would be happy that you're about to try something new that you'll love. It's as though he truly understands that the customer service he provides could make or break someone's first time having the popular drink, so he gives them that one-on-one time. And the long line behind the newbie? They don't care because Wenbo gives all of them that same, undivided attention. I am a Gong Cha addict, and I'm totally okay with that. It was funny to see that this Gong Cha's line was the longest line you had to queue at the mall and of course, I had to get my boba fix. The queue took some time to go through because the production of each order did take a while. They had two employees making the drinks, and one person taking the order but sometimes helping out with replenishing of tea pots and ingredients. With all the hype on brown sugar bubble tea, I decided to try it out but unfortunately, a mistake was made. Typically, the tapioca would be soaked and cooked in brown sugar for some time to retain the flavor of brown sugar but they just tasted like tapioca with syrup - way overly sweetened. Yifang still has my heart for the best brown sugar bubble milk tea. I will just stick with my usual favorite from Gong Cha: wintermelon milk tea. read more

This is my favorite bubble tea spot in GSP because not only are their drinks selection amazing but the service is quick and consistent. They make it so easy with their Top 10 list of drinks. Whenever I'm feeling adventurous and trying something other than their classic pearl milk tea, I would try something else on their Top 10 list. It was a Saturday when I was there and the workers were very courteous and professional despite the crazy rush and long line of grumpy, impatient customers before me as well as behind me. One of my favorite places to drop by when I'm shopping. They get pretty busy sometimes but they move fast. I always get my drink real quick and then i'm ready to shop! Plenty of flavors to choose from though and I love that I'm able to adjust the sugar and ice levels. I tend to like my drinks less sweet so I always go for the 50% sugar. Good stuff! read more

Had a terrible experience at this gong cha location. I ordered large milk foam green tea with light ice. I politely asked for a bit more milk foam, because I would be afraid they give me too little. The cashier heard what I said and simply ignored me. When they made my drink, they added a lot if ice and a ridiculous small amount of milk foam. I was dissatisfied because the proportion of tea to milk foam was totally off. I asked them to correct my drink and add more milk foam but they did not want to. Had to argue, until a more senior person came and did it. btw the amount of milk foam was probably 1/5th of the pictures. when I pointed out this drink was not like picture, they just said it's only pictures. But even compared to the other locations that sells milk foam green tea, they simply have much less and the proportion is just not right. Drink definitely tasted below average compared to other locations. will not come back again due to poor flavor and service. read more
