Charged me a higher price on my order!!! Yesterday I bought a milk tea that was listed at around $8, but I was charged a higher price at checkout. The staff explained that the price had changed that day, but the displayed menu/sign had not been updated yet. When I asked for a refund of the difference, another issue came up: the receipt in their system showed a completely different card as the payment method, which was not my card. Because of that, they said they could not process the refund properly. A very strategic new location right by Hunter College. I think it's the only location on the Upper East Side which makes it a lot more convenient to get some great brand name bubble tea. I was that guy and came in after 9pm, when they were closing, but they decided to serve me anyways, which was awesome of them. The bubble tea was made very well and the service is excellent. I've been dying to try Gong Cha for a while now; and, when this location opened, I finally set my mind to it. It's pretty rare to find a good bubble tea shop in the Upper East Side, especially one in such close proximity to Hunter College. This one definitely beats some of the other options around here. I've tried a couple drinks down the menu but my favorite, however, has to be the Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3J's. The Brown Sugar Milk Tea and the Passionfruit Green Tea are quite good as well. The store itself is really clean and spacious too. Bright white walls with little to minimal decorations, but just enough to spice up the shop. There are plenty of seats available too. I will have to say, though, that their service is a bit slow. Even with 3-4 staff members at work, the speed at which they churn out drinks is mind-boggling. I've had this chain of bubble tea numerous times in Flushing, and would say it's one of my go-to bubble tea spots. Although, I was not too satisfied about this experience - I ordered a Passionfruit Green Tea with 50% sugar and it tasted nothing like Passionfruit and was so sour that I had to make a face. I got the peach green tea with less ice and it was a bit sweet for my liking, so if you do not like drinks that are too sweet, I would recommend getting less or half sweetness. I also added boba to the drink which was an extra 75 cents. I prefer my boba on the softer and warm side, the boba had a medium firmness to it and it was not warm so I could have gone without it, but the overall peach green tea was good.
