My experience has been far better than that... more like taking 10-14 strokes off my score, after only 4 lessons. I "played golf" for decades but had never taken a lesson. I am 75-years-old. I was initially worried that the golf coach would want to correct 50+ things all at once. Larry Salmi, my coach, only focused on a couple of things things each lesson. Their technology for me is really fun and instructive. While I am still not a "par" golfer, I am, for the most part, keeping it on my fairway. I started my golf lession almost 5 years ago and my swing has improved so now I can finally enjoy golfing. If you are new to golf, please do yourself a favor and start your lesson with golf tec. My coach was Aaron and he was amazing, He used the golf tec to guide his teaching, but mostly he is a great coach bucause he can points out things about your golf swing behind the numbers. My son's coach sent us to see Larry to get custom fitted for new irons. Larry was absolutely awesome - he knew his stuff, was patient with my questions, and has plenty of personality to handle a teenage golfer lol He even threw out a few tips while we were there, and they were all on point with things my son's been working on with his coach. The prices were better than the bigger stores, and having fitted irons are already paying dividends with more accurate shots and lower scores (along with more confidence on the course.) I highly recommend Golftec and Aaron as my instructor. I'm very hard on instructors because I always ask the why question and Aaron has patiently told me why I am doing something as he has completely transformed my swing. I was around a 17 - 20 handicap and now, after working with Aaron for about a year, I have dropped to a 12 and going lower. I hit all of my clubs about 20 yards longer. I especially feel that the video overlays of your body angles in the backswing and downswing make a huge difference in my learning. Since Larry gets a lot of love here I will add some more. Had a fitting with Larry and it was one of the best golf experiences I have ever had. He was very thorough and matched me up to a perfect set of irons for my swing. Golftec's new location near Downtown Pasadena is gorgeous. Top of the line with all the shafts & heads on display. Huge hitting bays with GC Quads and a Skytrack+. However, the real suprise was how there was 0 pressure from anyone to purchase anything from them. I don't know what's going on at this Golftec location. Maybe business is too good? I'm sure they have lots of happy customers but they dropped the ball with me. I guess I'm more upset with the time wasted on Golftec then anything else. Seems like they do not respect their customer's time. I was willing to use their services knowing they might not use the best available tech for their fittings. I booked a driver fitting with them. The earliest appointment was 2 weeks out. I took it. 2 days prior to the fitting, I received a confirmation of the appointment. I though I was all set. Then at 8:00 pm the night before the fitting, I received a cancelation email with no explanation why, no apology, and no rescheduling option. I reached out to them for an explanation and received no reply. So thanks for NOT following your own 24 hour notice requirement for customer cancelations. When a business requires more from their customers than themselves, you need to reconsider if you want to be their customer. I previously used them for an iron fitting. They did an adequate job. Since that was my first fitting ever, I didn't know any better and was satisfied. But I was disappointed when the fitter brought out the plastic lie board to determine lie angle. I knew enough then to know, lie boards lie. Seriously, are we back in the 1980's? There was no consideration for strike either. All in all, it was good enough for me at that time and better than just buying off the rack. Plus, the fitter was a nice guy. It was a good experience. Since then, I've learned a lot more about fittings. I made the misguided decision to use them again for a driver fitting instead of going back to Club Champion or True Spec. The primary reason I gave Golftec another shot was that I didn't want to drive out to Newport Beach or Beverly Hills. Honestly, it's just hard to make time to drive 1 hour each way for a club fitting. The cost difference was negligible ($125 vs. $150), but the experience is more premium at the other 2. The build costs can be more expensive at the other 2 but those are for premium upgrades. If you go with the standard manufacturer's options, the build costs are the same. This Golftec location did upgrade their tech to include the GCQuad but they wouldn't guarantee that I'd be fitted on their GCQuad. Which is disappointing, but I decided to take a chance. The GC2 is adequate for practicing, running a cheap indoor sim, or testing ball speed. But without the HTM, you don't get enough club info necessary for a proper fitting. Honestly, how can you be properly fit with only ball data and no club data? The strike, club path, angle of attack, spin loft are all needed to determine proper fit of a club. If you didn't know, now you know. I didn't know before. The pandemic also stretched out delivery of custom builds to 5 to 7 week instead of 1 to 2 weeks. So basically I wasted 2 weeks before I can get my new driver. Lesson learned, when you choose the perceived convenient way not necessary the right way, you end up being inconvenienced more. I ended up booking a fitting at Club Champion in 2 days. Club Champion uses TrackMan. True Spec uses GCQuad. Which is better is a heavily debated issue, but the consensus is that they're both really good. It's the expertise of the fitter that makes the difference. If you're on the fence, just go with someone that will do it right with the right equipment. read more

I had been a "hacker" for a long time. I finally decided to commit money and time to working on my swing and it has been completely worth it. Not only has Aaron helped me improve my swing (with detailed analysis and unique drills), but he has also helped me identify what is going wrong in real time. I've been hearing, over and over, about how beneficial and important a good fitting can be when considering buying a new set of irons (any club, really). Larry Salmi, one of the coaches there, oversaw the fitting, and it was beyond fantastic. Besides actually improving my swing with one simple tip (who knew pool noodles could be useful someplace other than a pool?), he had me hit four or five different iron heads (Callaway, Ping, Taylormade, Mizuno), measured my swing, got me into the right shaft length and stiffness, and then just asked lots of questions about how things felt/looked. I walked out with a new set of irons (Sim Max) "tailor made" (get it??) to my specs and a new appreciation for how important buying something that's not just off-the-shelf can be. Felt like all they wanted to do is get me in and out. They told me to warm up and then pro came in, analyze my swing and club, but never tried different shafts. They whole fitting took 30 minutes and then I was out.( supposed to be 60-90 min) Really felt like he needed to try out different shafts and stiffness but no just said go out and try this club choked down and let us know. read more

Larry saved my life and marriage. For the past 5 yrs I used to be the classic outside-in slicer. My drives would slice 200~yds. My iron shots always faded. After 10 lessons & a fitting, I'm able to draw my driver 250-270 yds. My iron shots are now draws. Although now I need to work on consistency and hitting the shot shape when I want it, I reached my current golf goal. I used to shoot 100-110. Now I regularly am in the 90's. I have taken 4 lessons previously to GOLFTEC and this by far is the most expensive, but if you want real improvements and the science (camera footage), then this is a no-brainer. After I learned the inside-out swing, I cracked my Callaway Rogue driver. Yes. My smash factor improved. Luckily Callaway replaced the driver for free. GOLFTEC is an investment that will provide results. Breaking old habits and learning new techniques is extremely uncomfortable. I wanted to walk away from this place at times. But what will really make your time on the golf course more enjoyable and lower your score is lessons, not the latest golf equipment craze. I wish I had been to Golftec years ago, because I was stuck scoring 100-110 for a long time and it really frustrated me that I couldn't move my score lower. Golftec lessons are unlike anything I have ever seen. They hook you up to monitors that take measurements of your turn and tilt angles, and record your swing on a DVR-like device. You hit an actual golf ball indoors into a net, and your instructor will mark up the screen with things you do well, and the things that you do not so well. Maybe you need to turn a little more, or get your hands in a certain spot. Whatever it is, your swing is replayed so that YOU can see what YOU are doing. This kind of feedback is so valuable, because most types of golf lessons do not provide this. Your lessons are also posted to the internet, so that you can review your lessons at home. At first, it's kind of like hearing yourself on a voicemail message. "OMG!!! Do I really do that???" But, if you stick with it, you can see some real improvement. You get high-tech instruction (you wear sensors on your shoulders and hips) and are filmed by two cameras, and can see live video plus simulated ball flight on a high-red screen. This is what you're playing for, folks. Plus you can see your recorded lessons on your smart phone on demand! I often watch my lessons the night before I'm playing a real round, and it's really helped me. Before Golf-Tec, my game was stagnant. I had a lot of nasty bad habits that hampered my scores. I could not be happier with my GolfTec experience. I have been working with Tyler for the past six months and have seen my handicap improve from 18 to 13. Just as important, my clubhead speed on my driver has increased from 85 mph to 95 mph -- this is good and bad as I had to buy a stiff shaft as my swing was too quick for my regular shaft. Five strokes and 10 mph might not sound like a lot, but I have been playing off and on for 20 years and not sniffed this type of improvement. There are a number of reasons I love my training sessions at GolfTec: (1) Tyler brings high energy every time to my lesson -- if you find the right coach, they will save you 10 years of frustration; (2) the technology is amazing including being able to read the angles of my turning the shoulders, hips, etc. and compare my swing to pros; (3) the app allows me to look at certain parts of the lesson that are taped -- I always watch these several times to reinforce what I learned during the week; (4) there is a plan that they use at GolfTec so that I feel week to week, I know where we are going -- I compare this to other lessons I have taken where every week there seems to be a new issue but no overall process to improve; (5) they use tried and true equipment that I have bought and incorporated into my practice sessions -- I know that if GolfTec is using the equipment, it is likely good stuff. I had been to GolfTec in Santa Barbara and had a great experience. There was an issue with my audio file from when I was in SB, so GolfTec Pasadena offered to give me a free swing evaluation to replace it. Now, I can tell you from experience, there is nothing more valuable to improving a golf swing than taking video lessons. GolfTec IS pricey, but if you have the time to dedicate, it is well worth it. My swing evaluation was very helpful, and I learned about the inefficiencies in my swing. Within 30 minutes of instruction from Larry, I was beginning to see major improvements in my swing plane, ball distance, and accuracy. I plan to come back to this location when I have more time to practice. read more

Other reviews aren't necessarily incorrect. My experience was that of purchasing something of lavish, that we have to pay for it. I did not see the value in these multiples of lessons at a high cost that they were asking ($2-4000). My initial swing evaluation alone cost $125 but really half an hour or so spent basically going over the flaws of my swing and how or to what extent lessons could help. Lots of redundant information, trying to match my swing w/a pga player and so forth, I was totally disappointed. I swung 6-7 times w/my 6 irons, watched my swing on the monitor, did some basic drill for like 5-10 minutes, walked away not convinced w/the program. Sure if I am willing to spend thousands of dollars and hours of work, this program works, but I pass. read more

After having been stuck at the same level in my golf game for a longer period of time (handicap 18), I acknowledged that I was not going to improve on my own and that I needed professional help. After doing some research and trying out a lesson at a close by golf course, I decided to go with GolfTEC. Due to the high prices, I first hesitated and contacted them and scheduled a tour of their location, as I did not want to spend this much without having seen what I would be purchasing. That being said, Scott, one of the four coaches at the Pasadena location, introduced to me the philosophy and teaching style of GolfTEC and we ended up scheduling an appointment for an initial swing evaluation. To this point, I was still not convinced that I wanted to make this rather large investment (for me anyways!) but was looking forward to the evaluation. This is where I entirely bought into the idea of GolfTEC, or should I say video-based lessons. With all the equipment and technology that GolfTec utilizes to teach the 'proper' golf swing (for any individual, taking into account their body shape), there is no question that GolfTec can keep up its 96% success rate. I cannot imagine practicing without having immediate video-based feedback. It is just great. The way it works at GolfTEC is the following. When I schedule a lesson with Scott, which is 30 minutes, I also schedule a practice session right after so that I can practice what I just learned. You might think that 30 minutes is too short, however, it is plenty of time, as your coach will most like work on one aspect of your swing that needs improvement. In the practice session right after and the practice sessions you schedule before your next lesson, you learn and master the improvement, so that in your next session you concentrate on a new feature. Another great piece of GolfTEC is that even when you simply schedule a practice time for yourself, if you have any questions or concerns with what you are practicing or you have problems with your swing, you can always ask your coach and they will help you if available. The biggest question for you is most likely "Is it really worth the money?" The answer solely depends on you. As for me, Golf is not just a hobby. It's my passion. Therefore, I spend multiple hours a week practicing and trying to improve my game. In order to get the most out of GolfTEC and your money you will be investing, you need to be committed to spend time practicing and using the drills your golf coach is going to give you, or else you will not get your money's worth. What makes GolTEC's practice stand out as compared to practicing on the range is that on the range you will most likely focus on the ball flight and let that determine if your swing is good or not. At GolfTEC however, you shoot into a net, which allows you to forget about the ball flight and focus on getting the swing right. Pros: - They have 3 practice booths so there are almost always open slots. - GolfTEC Pasadena is located at a small shopping plaza so there is ample parking available. - They are open 7 days a week so there is always time to practice. - The quality of the coaches and the equipment is amazing. Cons: - High Price Lastly, I would like to mention the great work of my coach Scott. He is incredibly talented and immediately recognizes what is not working with your swing and comes up with a drill that will improve it. In only 8 lessons with him, we have greatly changed my swing that it now provides me with long and reliable shot I was always looking for. But again and I cannot stress this too much: You NEED to commit your time and practice (!!) to really improve. I would definitely recommend Scott as your coach. He is doing an unbelievable job! If you are having doubts and are not sure about whether to sign up or not (as it was the case with me), I would recommend you to schedule a tour with them of their location. I have been struggling for few years trying to understand what I was doing wrong in my golf swing. Sure there are many videos and books out there that claim they can change your swing in an instant but let's be honest, if you don't know what you are doing you are going to create more bad habits that will hurt your golf game for a very LONG TIME. It's not a cheap program by any means but it is worth every penny when you dedicate your time (like any sport, you need to dedicate some practice time to see your progress). I have been taking lessons with Scott @ Golftec for just under a year. I started with an initial swing evaluation, which led me to invest in 24 lessons. I've since purchased 40 additional lessons even though my game has vastly improved. Folks, it's that good and the money has been well spent in my opinion. In just under a year, I've gone from a slicer with an 20 handicap to drawing or fading the ball at will with a 13 handicap. The difference between my old and new swing is literally night and day. I now shoot round in the low 80s on a consistent basis. I've taken traditional lessons with PGA professionals at Brookside and Griffith Park in years past, but I never saw the dramatic improvements I'm seeing since i started lessons at Golftec. There simply is not substitute to the visual and sensory aids that help swing coaches like Scott eliminate bad habits and create better, repeatable, on-plane swings. Every swing you take is recorded and can be reviewed in fine detail, both during lessons and at practice. They give you great drills to fix any part of your swing that needs attention. With some limited practice in between lessons, I started to see real, tangible results almost immediately. So in short, I highly recommend Scott and the other coaches at Golftec if you're looking to improve your golf game. At a minimum, go in for a swing evaluation and let them analyze the major flaws and issues and provide you with tips on how you can quickly improve. I've been playing golf 2-3 times a week for the last 40 years and have had many lessons. I was most interested in using their video analysis and intended to make what ever adjustments needed myself. Aaron showed me in simple terms how I could improve my swing path and increase my shoulder turn to gain more distance. Seeing your swing on a big screen is invaluable for a good player. As a stubborn older (retired) golfer who took a lesson here and there over the years but remained stuck in the mid to high 80s and hoping to break into the 70s, I finally realized I needed to re-start with a comprehensive instructional program. I will not reiterate what others have said on this site about how Golftec works and what your costs cover. That has been spelled out pretty well. My own case, before I retired two years ago I had played some golf but wasn't getting much enjoyment out of it. I had had some lessons from various golf pros and really didn't feel I improved much. Then I decided I would give it one last try at Golftec. I really knew nothing about them. I arranged a swing evaluation with Scott and he analyzed my swing and said he thought I would benefit most from a lesson plan lasting one year. I must say I was dumbfounded at first, but I signed up more or less as a last resort. Scott went back to square one and worked forward from there. At times it was exasperating because I didn't feel I was advancing fast enough. But Scott is very patient and at some point it all starts to kick in. When I started at Golftec I had an 18+ handicap. I now have a 10 handicap and am looking forward to getting to a single digit handicap. I also enjoy the game much, much more. So speaking from experience, if you're serious about your game and tired of hacking around the course like I was, this is the place for you. read more

Lets start with pricing.Very expensive for 30 min. lessons $80-$90. There are 3 practice rooms for use.But can only reserve for 30 min. when available.You can only purchase lesson packages (6months or 12 month), that expire.Playing lesson are used towards the end of the 6 or 12 months.They charge you 4 lessons for 9 holes or 8 lessons for 18.And you have to pay for there green fees!! DO THE MATH!!! As far as instruction, mediocre at best.The type of instruction that's given is for beginners.I'm a 9.4 handicap now.A year ago before I started with GolfTec I was a 9.6.Not much better. That's what i got for 52 lessons or $4000+.So if you like to see yourself swing.Have a friend video you with a iPad or smart phone. read more

Started in July. Took lessons from an excellent teacher before, but the combination of Golftec's slo-mo video replay, side-by-side comparisons of your own swings or with pros, launch monitor readings, custom video drills emailed after each lesson, AND Larry Salmi, a terrific teacher, has made a huge improvement. The difference between what I thought I was doing and the shameful contortions I witnessed on video was huge: it's finally enabling me to make real changes. Larry will try out different ways of fixing my flaws till finding the one that resonates for me. My swing is a work in progress, but so far, I've gained more than a club on all my irons, and and average of 30 yards on my drives. I'm hitting far more quality shots and winning a lot more skins. I played from 2003 till 2008 and started back last year, but for the first time, at the age of 59, I'm reaching greens on par 5s in two. That's a sweet feeling. Golf for me has gone from stagnation and frustration to ever-growing excitement. Golftec is worth every penny. read more

I went to the Pasadena location for a club fitting and felt I was totally ripped off for $150. They let me try a few different clubs to see if I hit them better than my club. No measuring, no speed test of my swing, no nothing. It was a bate & switch to sell lessons. They may do well with instruction, I don't know, but don't expect a real club fitting when you go there. I was so upset by the rip off that I wouldn't consider the lessons. The short amount of instruction that I got was not even helpful. Total waste of time and money!! read more

GolfTec is simply great! Every component of your swing is broken down in an easily understandable way. I have been golfing for 5 years and had completely flat-lined I terms of improvement. I am about one-third of the way through the lesson package and have already seen significant improvement in my game. Scott is my teacher and he is fabulous. Very patient and knowledgeable. While the cost is significant I can say it has been worth every penny! read more
