My experience has been far better than that... more like taking 10-14 strokes off my score, after only 4 lessons. I "played golf" for decades but had never taken a lesson. I am 75-years-old. I was initially worried that the golf coach would want to correct 50+ things all at once. Larry Salmi, my coach, only focused on a couple of things things each lesson. Their technology for me is really fun and instructive. While I am still not a "par" golfer, I am, for the most part, keeping it on my fairway. A relief to others on the course, and far more fun for me. Before Golftec I think I had only had 1 par in my life. Now I am disappointed when I don't get at least one birdie and a few pars in a round!

He said they were the Ferrari of club fitters. "Master Fitter" had me hit my 7 iron and then had me hit different 6 irons. He ran the numbers on the "optimizer" and said I could only get 10 yards more from my 7 iron and that the club was doing its job. Stopped the iron fitting there and went to driver. Today, Jeff had me warm up, casually asking about my game, usual ball flight etc. He explained to me the potential causes of my misses. One of the reasons being, the club was too light. He gave me a lot of really priceless swing tips. We worked on with different shafts and heads... he explained the process and connected it to my swing. He put stickers on the face to show where I was hitting the ball. He always reviewed distance trends and took in to account the flight of my misses. Thankfully I was able to execute his tips and the average carry of my 7 iron was amazing. On course, my TOTAL distance would be 120. After Jeff's club and swing magic, my CARRY was 130. Total sometimes 140-150. So excited to get my new set of irons. My only regret is I didn't come here first. I'll be coming back here for woods and have him check with driver I got from. Club champion. I really wish I went here first. Iron fitting was $150 but the swing tips alone I feel was so much more. Will be telling everyone to come here. I called about a week ahead to schedule an iron fitting with Jeff. Heads up: his schedule fills up quick (for good reason), so definitely book early if you want a spot. As a beginner golfer, I was on the fence about getting fit. I had just bought a brand new set of irons without any kind of fitting and kept hearing mixed opinions--some people say fittings are a waste for beginners, others say it's the best time to get one. I figured it couldn't hurt to get everything checked and make sure my gear matched my swing. From the moment I walked in, Jeff was super friendly and welcoming. He brought me to the back fitting area and had me warm up with my current setup. Right away, he noticed what needed tweaking. I'd originally been told to use regular shafts as a beginner, but after watching me hit a few, Jeff recommended stiff shafts instead. I tried a few options and ended up going with the KBS Tour 120g stiff shafts--they gave me the most consistent ball flight and tightest dispersion. What I really appreciated was how Jeff didn't just run me through numbers--he also gave me tips on my swing, helped me understand what we were looking for, and just made the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. We joked around, had some good small talk, and the whole session flew by. We even had some time left over, so he threw in a quick golf ball fitting too. I tested a few and we landed on the TaylorMade TP5x and Srixon Z-Star Diamond. In the end, we made a few key changes: a slightly flatter lie angle, a small adjustment in club length, and the switch to a stiffer shaft. Nothing drastic, but enough to make a big difference in consistency and feel. The whole fitting lasted around 90 minutes and cost $150. Yeah, it's a little more than a big box store, but 100% worth it. You're getting high-level insight and guidance from someone who truly knows his craft. He put his recommendations up at the front counter. We live in SCV and made a trip to North Hollywood based on our interaction over the phone with Drew. All the staff were friendly. We decided to get all three clubs and Drew helped us find a reasonable putter. He really encouraged me. I have recently taken a lesson and played a small par 3 course and would like to keep trying. Drew explained that if I want a full beginner set of clubs to bring back the ones I purchased within 90 days for a full store credit to be used for a set of clubs. You then have 1 year to upgrade that set with a full refund/store credit. They really encourage everyone giving golf a chance, which I find very enlightening. So far all my golfing experiences have been good and Drew and this Roger Dunn Golf Shop are on the top of the list.

I had a driver fitting today and how I would describe my experience in 3 words is awkward,…read moreunsatisfactory, lukewarm. I was excited to come in to see what is new in the driver technology and to see if I can maybe gain some extra yards on a new club. I hit 5 different brands of drivers and none of them I was told "could beat my current driver" the guy that fit me was chill but he gave me the vibe of he felt like I was wasting his time. I pretty much got a I don't think I can help you and a pat on the back. The silver lining was I got some numbers for my current driver and now can focus on what I can improve. A couple of annoying things were the mat in the fitting bay kept sliding so when I was swinging right before impact the ball would come off the tee. So I was literally hitting the ball as it fell off the tee. Another annoying thing was the fitting is a 1 hour fitting and i basically got taken off because "they couldn't beat my current driver" in 30 minutes. I wish I could've at-least been able to use the bay for the remainder of the time or been comped with a gift card for the half of the price of the fitting. 50$ for a 1 hour fitting.

I haven't used that for myself but I did take advantage of that for my kids. I also like their indoor driving range to try out new clubs. Nowndale is truly an amazing golf instructor…read more The first lesson alone helped me so much. He explains everything so clearly and is very patient. I love the fact that the lessons are indoor and has cameras so that he can show me and I can see what I need to change and work on. AND there's free parking !! Something I was worried about with getting lessons was not getting my money's worth. Sometimes instructors can be very chatty and I don't feel like I'm getting an actual full hour's worth of a lesson. If that is something you're concerned about, please consider Nowndale! Every time I come in for a lesson, it is jam packed with information and practice time. He really focuses on the lesson and your improvement. I feel very comfortable asking him questions (even if they feel silly) and he'll kindly answer and help me understand. I really have nothing negative to say. I have had 5 lessons and each one has been a very positive experience. I still have a lot to learn, but I can definitely say I have improved a lot since starting lessons.

I had a previous golf coach, but he wasn't great and I started plateauing and did really, really bad. I got frustrated with golf and I didn't know how to fix my mistakes.. and my ex-coach wasn't helping either so I paused lessons with him. Then my friend recommended me his previous coach, so I went to Nowndale and after just ONE lesson, my game started improving right away I was shook!!! After 2 lessons, my form looked so much better and I kept looking forward to seeing Nowndale the next week after. It was the only thing getting me thru the week, the lessons with him. He's so, so good at explaining the mechanics of the golf swing and how to get you to do exactly what you need to do for the perfect swing. I ask so many questions during my lessons and he's so patient with me and answers all of them, and encourages me to point out my own mistakes and explain to him how I could correct them myself. He genuinely wants to see me improve, and even during my practice sessions when I get frustrated and text him, he tells me to send videos of my swings to see what I'm doing wrong to help correct me. I have recommended him to my friends as well and I really really hope he can stays here for the long term because I am for sure not going anywhere and at this point I feel like I NEED his expertise and lessons to get to where I want to be in golf.
