After taking almost a year off from training and feeling like I hadn't really learned anything…read morebefore, coming back to train with Sean has been such a refreshing experience. I started with zero experience--I couldn't even hit the ball at all. Now I can properly swing, and I actually understand what I'm doing. Sean's teaching approach is incredibly detailed and thoughtful. He started by breaking down the fundamentals--especially posture and setup. At first, I honestly thought, there's no way I can hit the ball like this. It didn't make much sense to me as a beginner. But Sean was very patient and methodical. He walked me through each movement step by step, starting slow and focusing on the mechanics. Then, he gradually helped me connect everything together into a full swing. Once I understood the progression, everything suddenly clicked. What once felt unnatural became clear and doable. I now feel more confident, more aware of my body mechanics, and actually excited to keep improving. If you're someone who feels stuck or confused about your swing, Sean will absolutely help you build a strong foundation and truly understand the game.

The honeymoon phase is over and I have moved on. Sean is good at golfing, but I think his coaching…read morecan use some work. As a beginner, it's fine, he teaches the fundamentals real well. As I continued with him, each lesson got more layered and confusing. I felt I was learning a tour level swing and it shouldn't be this complicated. At the end of the lessons, there was never any game plan. Just a "keep working on it", which didn't feel sincere, and he moved onto the next student. All the teachers there are in the $120-$150 range so it's not cheap. Spend your money wisely, and don't go for lessons every week. It also takes time and reps to get what you learned. I feel that was part of the problem, and was not stopped.

This is what golf should feel like! $18 under the lights…read morewith the quality and pace of play Staff 10/10 "just go have fun" Course 11/10 par 3 with great greens for beginners and well maintained. Consistency, even with the guys who abuse the grass at the tee boxes they keep it looking good. (ps: hitting off mats properly is much better than grass no matter who you think you are ) Tee boxes: 10/10 Bring a range finder if you're a numbers player. Sometimes there can be a 1 to 5 yard difference from the posted yardage. You will need a Sand Wedge and Putter, a 3rd club could be a 60 degree or a PW. I wish there was a chipping practice area like the El Segundo Lakes course. Great experience! Felt like a resort in Arizona.

Ok, so the good. The course is very njce! The fairways are narrow, but when you land in the middle,…read moreyou are rewarded with a nice surface. Also, if you can drive the ball, then this course is for you! Very firm fairways so if you land it, go ahead and add 10-20 yards to your drive if you don't just pop it up. The course is very well kept. I didn't land in any bunkers but my wife did and she said the sand was firm and easy to get out of. The greens are large, and while some people complain, those are the ones that haven't played a professional course. Greens are supposed to be large, so learn the speed of the green and land it close! The greens are also very well maintained, but Jesus they are fast! Now the cons. Bring water or food or something to nibble on. The restaurant isn't open and they don't sell anything. Albertsons is across the street so stop there first. Next, the pace is slow. There is no Marshall and the staff know nothing about anything, so don't bother asking. Expect 2-2.5 hours, but if you can, walk it! It's really a nice one. The fairway firmness is great but the greens are rock hard and fast! If you have a 60 and can use it, use it! Plop it on. But if you skull it or thin it, it's not catching and you're going to fly off the green. It's like putting on a cement floor so it's very fast! This goes back to the pro for a second but when you're practicing on their putting green on the first hole, you might think it's not reflective of greens on the course..... it is, so figure out the speed there! Last no driving range to warm up at. Overall, great course, but with no food and drink and such a slow pace of play, it's a bit overpriced. Should be 25-30. We would play again. This course does need a marshal though. I recommend it, but don't say we didn't warn you!

The driving range net near the first tee is clearly too short, and from what I experienced, this has apparently been an ongoing problem for years without meaningful changes being made. During my round I was almost hit by golf balls three separate times, including being struck by a range ball on the first tee. There were already dozens of balls scattered around the tee box, making it obvious this is not some rare or unexpected occurrence. A warning over the loudspeaker does not fix an unsafe setup when range balls are consistently clearing the netting. Beyond the safety concerns, the course conditions have gone downhill badly compared to when I played about a year ago. The greens were extremely rough and bumpy, putting felt more like putting on cement than on maintained greens. The layout also feels overly cramped and tightly packed, which only adds to the safety concerns throughout the course. To top it off, my golf cart died before I could even finish the round. Overall the experience felt poorly maintained, overcrowded, and unsafe, which is disappointing because the course used to be in much better shape.

People's Yoga in Monterey Park (near ELAC) exceeds my wildest dreams. This single studio with wooden-floors and plants is homey and yet located on the second floor of a plaza and across from the metro station (Atlantic stop). It's truly a delight - not to mention the one and only Latina-owned yoga studio is the area (if not LA?). My favorite class is "Body Soft" on Thursday nights at 7pm with Diane. This class is for those that want to ease into yoga (a.k.a. Beginners) or those who need to chill from a long work week. But...please don't meditate into sleep. Yes, rarely does snorting ensue. On-site parking is available and the studio provides all the equipment and even water, just bring your own water bottle. Pre-registration is recommended as the studio only accommodates so many people. If the single class price is steep for your budget, check out their packages as they offer a built-in discount. Also, first timers can try out a monthly on a discount. For the yogis or yogis in training, you may be interested in their training program. Personally, I'm not a fan of virtual movement classes because I prefer to be in-person, but for those on a shoe string budget that may an option. Either way, I LOVE People's Yoga! Shout out to Leah and Lauren, co-founders, Latina mama business owners, and yoga instructors. Their dream to open this brick and mortar became a reality years ago and has been going strong for years.
