I picked up golf in 2018 in my early 30s and I got the bug but I was never or rarely able to break 90. You know the guy, the one that comes to the course with a different identity every time trying anything from small Grandpa half swings to Harley Grippin and throttling the driver as hard as he can, to Texas wedging from 60 yards off in the fairway .... That guy. Then after losing like seven balls at Canyon crest and shooting in the upper 90s again, I finally humbled myself and realized I might need a coach In my business life- coaching had paid for itself many times over and I finally widened up and thought "why not golf too" Maybe you relate, I'd been trying to bake a cake with a million different recipes on YouTube and I knew that if I was humble enough to go and copy someone else's playbook from top to bottom just maybe I might stand a chance When I met Jay, I could tell right away, this guy knows his stuff and he spoke my language, "biomechanical efficiency", "anatomical limits", "isometric tension", and on and on You see I'm a skeptic and I'm pretty critical by nature and I challenge everything, but anything I threw at Jay he had a response for, and not only that he was able to redirect me and tell me where I'm not even asking the right questions I must admit I'm a difficult person to work with. I'm an eight on the Enneagram (a challenger), and not only is Jay gifted in his golf system, but also in his soft skills, such as being able to handle challenging people. He knew when to step on the gas and push me and he knew when I just needed a nice cold Gatorade cause I was about to explode Today I finally broke 80. He told me I would within 6 months of his coaching... and we made it Cheers Jay, to a true coach. Someone who answered my late evening and weekend texts, kept me on the tracks, kept it simple when i needed simple, and we had a few laughs along the way. read more

Golf Code 360 has completely changed the way I understand and enjoy golf. Jay and his team teach the game in a way that is irrefutable -- everything is backed by science, data, and clear cause-and-effect. There's no guessing, no gimmicks, and no "feel-only" advice that leaves you confused the next time something goes wrong. After my lessons, I walked away not only hitting the ball better, but actually owning my swing. Jay helped me understand why I miss, how to diagnose issues on my own, and--most importantly--exactly what to do to fix them. That confidence is a game-changer. What really stands out is how they make golf fun again. Instead of chasing tips, I now have the B.E.S.T. framework that makes improvement logical and repeatable. The before-and-after difference after a single lesson was eye-opening, and it's only reinforced that this is the right way to learn the game. If you're serious about improving and want instruction that actually makes sense, Golf Code 360 is on another level. read more

Golf Code 360 - Brea - Before and After of the issue I was having at the top of my backswing - Golf Near Me - Irvine, California

First session was promising. Had all the cameras up, showed me where my swing was to steep or my club face was off center. Second session got directions in proper set up and worked on that also with a drill that worked on contact and was enjoying it. The next 4 sessions I had was just a day at the sim. I was basically on my own. The instructor sat in the chair behind me and just the same (tip/cue) randomly after some shots. I still use the tips for a proper set up and jay does seem knowledgeable but after the first few days the lessons became stagnant and the desire to teach was nonexistence. If you want the tech to see your swing this place is great, but if you want an engaged instructor look elsewhere. read more

The results were just mind-blowing, tweaking my grip and stance made a huge difference. I was totally floored by how quick Jay was able analyze my swing and fix it. I've been playing for six years and I'm really lucky to have found GC360. It's totally worth the two-hour drive for the results I'm getting. Jay, thanks for making the techniques in my golf game so simple. I'm looking forward to many more sessions, thanks. read more

If you are serious about improving your golf game, Golf Code 360 Studio is the company to make that happen! Forget about YouTube, these guys show you the right way to play golf. Learning the bio-mechanics of a golf swing plus the technology used in studio is a game changer. I took lessons from Josh, who has become my coach and friend, and his method of coaching was geared towards me and how I am able to grasps the concepts of what was being taught. Before taking lessons from Josh and Golf Code 360, I was shooting in the high 90s & low 100s, and I was playing 2 to 3 rounds a month! Since taking lessons and coaching from them, I am now consistently shooting in the mid-to-high 80s. I got my low index down from 22 to 16. I've been improving after each round I play (which is still 2 to 3 rounds a month). Not only have they taught me the consistent proper way of a golf swing, I know now the reason for a mis-hit (or why the ball flew the way it did) and how to correct it. Golf is an expensive sport, but investing in yourself and investing in the proper way to swing a golf club makes taking lessons with Golf Code 360 worth the cost of playing Golf. read more

I paid 15 lessons last year and ended up with Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex Tear on my left wrist doing their wrist hinge up/down exercise. Like another review mentioned, the instructor sat mostly in his chair asking me to hinge up and hit down hard on the mat most of the time. I called the owner afterwards and they blamed me mostly, even after I told him i had mentioned my wrist pain to the instructor multiple times. They ended up offering me full refund but I'm still pissed since instead of playing golf, i'm spending time for multiple doc office visits, Xray and MRI. I would avoid this place unless they can tailor their teaching method to each student's need instead of focusing on mostly wrist hinge up and hitting down. read more

My wife and I signed up for joint lessons with Josh as complete beginners and after just a few sessions, we've learned enough to confidently play with our friends and coworkers without embarrassing ourselves! Josh was great at breaking down every aspect of our swings into easily repeatable steps and we walked away from each session hitting straighter and farther. If you are a complete beginner, we highly recommend booking your lessons with him! read more

Husband had a trial lesson and really enjoyed it. Learned a lot in the 30 minutes and had improved golf swing. Lesson was with Josh.

Purchased a pack of lessons from my local Golf Code at their Pasadena location but then it closed down without giving me any notification. I contacted Brea to see if I could get a partial refund on my remaining lessons since Brea/Irvine are too far and Jay said he would look into it for me. Weeks later no contact and they are ignoring my calls, messages, and emails. Avoid this one read more

Logan Hofer at the Irvine location has helped me twice so far with introductory lessons. I found him very professional, knowledgeable and skilled. Within just the first lesson, I already had at least 3 fixes to my current swing. Planning to book more lessons as we speak so I can continue to golf with my relatives who golf quite frequently. Thank you! read more

Been playing for almost 2 years trying to self-taught with YouTube and things were not clicking. Went to take a few lessons with Bryce and he helped develop a lot of fundamentals to help with my games. Josh is an extremely good instructor. He explains things so well. Even for someone like me. I have a hard time visualizing things and the way he explains it I can just picture in my mind. He's also down to earth, pleasant to talk to. He doesn't make you feel stupid for not understanding something. 100% recommend Josh. read more

I signed up for lessons after a huge rut in my playing. I had lessons with Josh and he helped me through my rut in just a couple lesson. I would definitely come back and work out any other issues I'm having with my game. The monitoring system helps see all the aspects of the swing and path, so it gives you a really good comprehensive overview of what you're doing. T read more

Had been playing for about 6 years and would play super inconsistently especially with the driver, shooting mid to low 90's! Decided to get a lesson package with Josh starting in mid June and in less than two months shot my best score with a 79! Super stoked lessons were pretty simple and straight forward. 10/10 recommend! read more

I took 10 lessons with Josh & Eric over at golf code. For someone who spent the first year trying to figure it out on their own by watching YouTube and hitting the range, it was a big step. Josh is a very experienced golfer and pure encouragement. He really solidified a swing foundation for me, not only does he provide alot of knowledge, he asks good questions, and when I provide my thoughts he is able to help reframe and put into perspective how I think of my swing, which is just as important as actually executing the swing. Overall, using a golf sim and video feedback, as a relatively new golfer, I learned something new and valuable every lesson. I have ways to diagnose my own swing when I'm out there on the range and course. And now I have the confidence to go out to solo tee times. I'm hooked read more

When I first started playing, my best score was a 102. I had been playing consistently for about two years and couldn't break 100. After taking lessons with Joshua, my game has completely transformed. Working with him was a real eye-opener--he broke down my swing in a way that finally made everything click. Just the other day, I shot an 83! The improvement has been incredible, and it's made the game so much more enjoyable. Investing in lessons with Josh was absolutely worth it. I highly recommend working with him! read more

Read this before you give up on your swing or your training! I have dropped 10-20 strokes on my handicap with Golf Code 360. Don't give up after 5-8 lessons, it takes more time to really correct your swing! Quick backstory: I had golfed for about 18 months prior coming to golf code 360. I was feeling pretty good about myself with around a 30-35 handicap on regulation courses. For about the last 6 months out of the 18, I saw little/no improvements and realized I would need the help of a trainer. In comes Josh and golf code 360. I went with the 15-lesson package because I was very impressed with the initial swing review. We spent about 12 lessons solely on what a good swing looks like. Prior to lessons with Josh: Not good grip. Not good setup or form during backswing. Very arm heavy swing- body all over the place during backswing. Not very consistent. Lessons 1-3 was tough. The things Josh was teaching me didn't feel natural. My game got much worse in the short term. Lessons 3-10 things started to click a little. Grip was a little better, form was getting quite a bit better. Starting to use arms less and use hips, shoulders, body more. My score was about the same or a little better than when I started. Self-doubt about the lessons were fairly big around 3-8. Lessons 10-15 is when things started to make a lot more sense, and an appropriate swing became feeling natural. These past 4 months or so I have seen a remarkable improvement in all aspects of my game. I started this journey at about a 30-35 handicap and am now at 18 and lowering. Post lessons with Josh: Grip is much better. Setup is much better, backswing form is much better. Body driven swings are the normal, but I still have room to improve. Much more consistent. I still have things to work on, and plan to take more lessons. Lessons are not inexpensive, but they are the #1 thing you can do to get better at this sport. Each lesson I am able to take something that I can then practice at the range on my own time. Each time I get better at something, it makes a noticeble improvement. If it doesn't feel right at first, or you have a lot of self-doubt, just stay at it. You will get there! It's not easy to completely change the way you thing about a golf swing. It won't feel natural at first. The consistency will come if you stay at it! read more

Highly recommend, I am new to golf and was hesitant to get golf lessons as there is so much different info online which nothing worked for me . So I decided to try a lesson and Josh right off the back was really helpful on explaining and breaking down my swing and teaching me drills and really explaining to me what I did wrong or correct on every swing .i feel like now i have a foundation to build from . I will definitely continue to take lessons from josh and look forward to beating my buddies out on the course read more

Josh was my instructor. He was so patient with me and never tried force anything. I was able to see what I was doing and what I should try to do to. I still make mistakes but, I now know what I did wrong and what to do to fix what I did wrong. Just that alone has helped immensely with dropping my score! Thank you Josh!! read more

Sorry in advance if this is TLDR. If you're serious about learning how to play golf, improving your current game, or just need a tune up for the season go see Jay and his team at Golf Code 360. I was looking for formal golf instruction (not YouTube videos or IG influencers) and after checking out a few options, I visited Golf Code 360 in Brea. It's a small spot in a quiet part of Brea but don't be fooled - Jay and his team know their stuff. They have hitting bays with all the video equipment and other tech to diagnose your swing and help you improve. But it's not just the tracking equipment and other tech. It's also about the right instructor and fit. I had an intro assessment with Josh and I knew that this was the place. I signed up for a package of lessons and it was money well spent. Josh was thorough in explaining the foundations of the golf swing in terms I could easily understand and, more importantly, REMEMBER out on the course. This little thing helps keep me focused and prevents me from reverting back to bad habits/mechanics. He never looked down on me as someone who was wasting my money or his time, which made it enjoyable each week. He keeps it light and fun, but always making sure I focused on the core mechanics. Be sure to ask him about the toddler with a French fry analogy! While I'm not quite shooting where I want to be, I have improved my scores by +10 strokes. I recently went back for a refresher lesson and had the same great experience. I fully endorse GC360 and look to continuing my golf journey with them! read more

I started working with Josh at GolfCode360 as a complete beginner, and he has absolutely transformed my game. As someone who had almost never golfed before yet somehow found himself signed up to play in a charity tournament in a month's time, I needed good instruction and fast if I was to not embarrass myself. I'm very happy to have found Golf Code 360 Studio, and my instructor Jay Lim. In just 5 lessons, Jay managed to impart on me enough basic knowledge so that I could go out and play with a modicum of confidence. I was still terrible, but feel I acquitted myself well enough so as not to be a complete embarrassment. I recommend Golf Code 360 Studio. read more

Update review. The improvement of my ball striking is unbelievable. My playing partners are now asking what I have been doing! Shout out to Josh and the great instruction he has given. Here's where I'm coming from: 1.) I learned golf from my friends (who are not pros) 10+ years ago. I got clubs from a friend that worked for Taylormade at the time. So think of it as me getting "keys" to a "car" (Game of golf) but not knowing how to drive the car correctly. 2.) I found myself being very inconsistent with my club striking when I recently picked up golf because of COVID quarantining. 3) I tried other coaches at golf ranges, but I needed something more. The "more" I needed came from Golf Code 360 studio (GC360S). I was on a quest to build a new foundation for my golf swing and I found that with Joe at Golf Code 360 studio. As of this review, I am 4 lessons in and I have to say that my swing has changed for the better. I've already shaved off a few strokes at a local golf course. My goal is to be able to understand my swing and 8-9 times out of 10, hit the ball more or less how I envision to hit it. Golf Code 360 Studio uses analytics and provides a great visual feedback mechanism to ensure progress of the swing mechanics being built. For me, I love data! If you get the chance to be paired up with Joe, you can trust that he will bring you along the process to achieving a measurable goal. It's all about the metrics right?! Joe is a great teacher and is patient. I've been an adjunct professor in my career and I am now in Learning and Development and I have to say that Joe has "it" when it comes to instructing. If you're considering having GC360S as a golf coaching resource, take these things into consideration: a.) Yes, it is an investment, but it's worth it and so much more if you hold yourself accountable and commit. b.) You got to do the work even in between lessons. c.) Trust the process. Change is not going to happen overnight. Thanks Joe for coaching me up to be a better ball striker. I look forward to what I can do after 10 lessons with you. read more

Just an update to my previous review... The lessons I took with Joey are the gift that keeps giving! As important as the in studio lessons were he also gave me tips to self-correct on the course. As a result my scores continue to drop, posting an 88 and an 87 at Sand Canyon- a course with a 126 slope and an 87 at my home course... my 1st legitimate sub-90 rounds counting each stroke with no "breakfast balls" or mulligans. Being that my initial rounds this year were all above 110 I'm thrilled with what those lessons did for my game. My initial GHIN handicap was 34...it is now 20.5 I've never had more fun on the course! Thanks again! read more

Josh was the best instructor! I'm a beginner at golf and he helped me improve my stance and swing. He was great at explaining where improvements need to be made and how to make them. I'd highly recommend taking a class with him if you are new to golf and want to learn the basics! read more

I am a beginning golfer and I tried out Golf Code 360 to see what they could do for me. The instructors are fantastic and are really dedicated to helping you play better golf. It's a fantastic place to have your swing analyzed. Being able to see your swing in so much detail is eye opening. I ended up continuing my lessons somewhere else but that was completely a personal choice and not anything to do with either the instructors or the facility. I am completely new to the game (never swung a club before) and made the decision to take a different approach to learning the game. Once I have a bit of experience would I return? Absolutely! They have the equipment and passion for teaching to really get the best out of your game! read more

My wife and I have zero experience with golf. We initially purchased 5 semi private lessons from Jay Lim and have now gotten an additional 10 more lessons. He started with the fundamentals of proper form and grip as well as the correct shoes to wear and. With anything in life you will get what you put into the lessons with practice and applying what you learned. What i like about his system and way of teaching is you can immediately see what you are doing right or wrong by watching yourself on video. Jay is a firm but fair teacher, if you want to improve your golf game in a shorter amount time and is willing to put in the work and practice every week I highly recommend him. Considering the shorter amount of time it takes to improve your golf game its a great value to take his golf lessons. read more

Just finished my 10-lesson package and based on my own swing's transformation, I have to say that Golfcode360 has been a 10/10 worth-it investment. Josh has been the homie since day one, breaking down intricate golf concepts in layman's terms and providing encouragement no matter how horrendous my swing looked. I went from a noob who was barely able to swing the club to a rookie that shot a birdie by the 6th lesson. I don't know what Josh is on but whatever he says works! Josh radically transformed my swing in 10 weeks and I can only describe the process as efficient and effective. However, it's important to note that while these lessons are extremely helpful, you have to put in the hours at the range between lessons to skillfully master the concepts. Good coaching is only half of the equation; personal commitment is necessary to see drastic improvements. read more

Jay was initially great for the first two lessons but soon after he wasn't as engaging as time went on. Just sat in the back looking at his phone, giving comments in between which was not what I expected when I purchased the 10 lesson package. He has a lot of knowledge but I think he's a little jaded or too confident/cocky. Jay's a cool guy but he should keep the interactions with clients a little more professional without having to talk too much about his personal life. Minor chit chat is good but I was starting to get bothered when he's always on IG. dating app etc, showing me pictures between swings rather than giving me hands-on, constructive feedback. People pay to go improve their golf game and aren't that interested in his personal dating life. This was the common theme when I ran into other students of his on the course. (We often notice each other when we do our "unique" grip check). Also if you purchase packages, be careful if you have to reschedule. He counted a rescheduled lesson since it was my 2nd reschedule/less than 24 hours. To be fair it was a sudden cancellation due to life events. While it makes sense to have a cancellation policy, we never even signed a contract therefore I had no way of knowing this. I understand he has to manage his time but to unilaterally state that it counted further strained my experience with him. Other than these complaints, if you catch Jay on a good day or he's interested in you he can definitely teach you a lot of things. I hope Jay takes this critical review as constructive criticism and helps many golfers who can benefit from his unique teaching style. I just wished I was able to take advantage of that when I was there. WIsh everyone the best. read more
