My mom got exited about eating here. She order Dinuguan one of her favorite food and stream rice la cart. We took it to go. We ate inside Jollibee. She took a few bites. Her expression on her face say it all. She did not enjoy the food. Dinuguan is too much vinegar and odd taste in her mouth. The rice was also disappointing. The rice was raw and not cooked. She went back and explain what wrong with the rice. I wish she ask for a refund. We end up bringing the Dinuguan home and tossing the rice in the garbage. I know for sure the same thing will happen to Dinuguan. There no tastes or food control at this establishment. I grew up eating at Goldilocks now it a disappointing place. I ordered the mango cake days in advance. They asked me what I wanted on top of it- so I ordered "60". Then the day arrived -1pm-and I picked it up. It had my name on the slip. First of all, I find it strange that their cakes are sold FROZEN. You're supposed to let it thaw for an hour. Having bought cakes at their Daly City location since the 80's that I had always believed to be made onsite, this is just bizarre. But the reason for this 1-star review isn't because the cakes aren't fresh...it's because the cake I bought had MOLD and that one bite of mold has given me a stomach ache!!! On New Year's Eve, I took a 25 minute drive to Goldilocks for their Ube cake. There was ONE left. The lady originally told me it would cost $26, but after ringing it up, it was closer to $50. Whatever. Just glad to have the cake for the New Year. At midnight, I cut a piece, take a bite...WTF?!! It had a weird taste and texture. I had swallowed some and spit the rest out. I look at the slice...it is BEYOND MOLDY!!! It was hard to see all the green due to the frosting, but after moving the frosting around it was clear...MOST OF WHAT WAS UNDERNEATH THE FROSTING WAS MOLD!!! I rinsed out my mouth. I thought about vomiting, but I had only swallowed a little bit and didn't feel like throwing up my entire New Year's dinner. So, I chugged water and hoped for the best. Needless to say, I should have thrown up. It's 7am now, and I've been up since around 3am with a bad stomach ache!!! They had a lot of baked goods and a freezer section. I also noticed a hot food section where everything looked so yummy. Alas i subdued my temptations and just got 3 halo halos and their new longanisa bun. Halo halo was as expected but their Longanisa bun was great. Is it just me, or did Goldilocks used to be really, REALLY good? Just FYI, this place is connected to Seafood City. There's an entrance from inside and a separate one outside. It's the smallest Goldilocks I've ever been to. Seating is not in the actual store, it's in the mall area. The staff was nice and the polvoron is what I expected, but the food is just not what it used to be. I had the pancit sotanghon and it was actually a little bland AND I put lemon all over it. I'm not sure why it's not good anymore; I remember when everything was really flavorful. I've been to better Filipino restaurants in the area. On top of all that, these dishes are PRICEY. You can go to another Filipino restaurant (basically anything other than Goldilocks) and you'll get waaaaaay more bang for your buck. I am so disgusted by what Contra Costa health department wrote in regards to Goldilocks rodent and roaches (vermin)infestation! I went there to buy cake and the chocolate flan on Saturday May 18th and they already got the inspection on May 17th. They know they have a problem, why did they not close the shop immediately! This pissed me off and now I feel so sick in my stomach! Health department forced the bakery to close today along with other restaurants in the same building! Close that whole Seafood City shop! But ever since they closed down many years ago, I never went to another location until recently... I came upon this location because it's in the same building as Atlas Shippers, also known as Seafood City, which houses a bunch of different Filipino restaurants and shops. I ordered 4 halo halos for myself and the three boys since they ran out of the ube ice cream the last time I was here, and I never got to try it. The halo halo was good, much better than the one I had from Red Ribbon, but the service here is really slow. Even with 3 employees, some of them seem to be sluggish and have a hard time understanding. I also bought a tray of the ensaymadas, which was ok. The food at their old location was made to order and everything was fresh This new location inside of sea food city is a total let down. The menu is smaller and the food is the typical filipino restaurant style where the food just sits there and they scoop it up for you. Probably the only fresh thing there is the rice. It's unfortunate that this Goldilocks doesn't live up to its reputation. The customer service is okay but sometimes it can get a little wired when there is a bunch of people in the small space. If you're looking for filipino food and don't mind food that's been sitting a while you can't go wrong. But with so many other options these days I'd skip Goldilocks and find a better place. You could even get good and fresh food from one of the other restaurants/vendors at the sea food city complex. I was the "light" eater as I was the only one to order off the Lunch menu. The rest of our Team not only went for the full meal (with ice cream), but doubled down by stopping off at Goldilocks for a couple cakes for a later coffee break. I had my small piece the next morning. I'm not even sure what was ordered, but I found the "lemon" cake much more enjoyable than the "chocolate" one. The chicken and vegetable dishes were approx $5.00 but the beef dishes were $1.00 more. The food is served Turo Turo style where you select from ten dishes, all colorful and flavorful. I was disappointed that a serving of rice was $1.99. How much is rice, $0.15 a serving. Very pricey for a serving a rice. The 3 lumpia for $4.95 seemed like a good deal but I ordered the Beef Calderata, a beef stew dish that was very flavorful. They were sold out on the chicken skewers so I know next time to come earlier. I'll be back for some Filipino cuisine. Bought goldilocks siopao and this is not my first i always buy as long as there is stock in asian store. When i eat it the filling taste really bad and bitter and theres a weird smell. The fiiling also dont gave taste of a little sweetness. ( siopao filling is sweet.I heat another one to try it again cyz maybe its just my taste but its still the same. Bitter with a foul taste.
