I came in for contact lens fitting/exam and Dr. Ma was very quick but also super thorough. He took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. Wilson and Yvonne were both helpful in answering my questions with purchasing contact lenses. They helped make sure I was getting the best deal on contacts and walked me through getting a rebate on the Acuvue contacts I bought. I had a bad experience here and I would not recommend people to come here for their glasses. They charged much higher than other stores. And their service is terrible. I have VSP insurance which covers the $155 frame fee but told only could choose from two small boxes full of dust. She told me only these two boxes are less and equal to $155. Then for the lens, they sell kinds of features and charge me kinds of fees. I don't want to add these features, but they reject and say the glass won't work without these extra features. Actually, my insurance could cover all for good lenses. As the result, I have to pay these extra fees which around $100. Then I got a pair of glasses two weeks later, but suddenly the lens drop off and the frame was broken after two weeks. I want to replace it with a different frame and would like to pay the difference since the quality of the frame is not good. But was told that I have to choose the same size and same model as the broken one. I would like to ask the store manager. But the employee told me that the manager is not working that day and I cannot find her. Then I asked her the name of the manager and found the name card at the front desk of the store. I tried to call the number of the manager but found the manager is in the store who is standing very close to us in the store. I will never go to this store and not recommend people to go there. read more

I called this optometry today and had a 7 minute conversation where the woman kept talking about exorbitant costs for ortho k lenses inspite of us having insurance. Mind you we are very familiar with ortho k with my daughter using it for the past 8 years. If you want new business, you should consider hiring folks who are motivated. I've been coming to Golden Optometry for a few years now and it looks like they've had some recent renovations. The place looks great and they are taking COVID precautions by doing a temperature check at the door, social distancing, limiting the number of people in the store, and all staff wearing masks. I usually come in to see Dr. Chang but I experienced a scheduling issue and ended up seeing Dr.Ma. The online scheduling system is interesting.... they have you select up to 3 dates and preferred times and staff will contact you to offer/confirm appointments. I received a confirmation email on the same day I sent in my request and I emailed back my preference within the hour. However, I never got a response back and then I never got any reminders. (I received an email that made it look like I had an appointment but the comments on the bottom offered other time options with my preferred doctor) I thought it was a bit weird and called to confirm my appointment the day of. I found out that they had missed my email and I was never scheduled at all (not even for the time it said I was rescheduled for). I was disappointed but the staff were pretty good and was able to offer another appointment for me with Dr. Ma for the next day. I've seen Dr. Ma before and the time worked out for me so I was fine with it however, as a caution for anyone else, maybe call to firmly confirm an appointment. Aside from that weird email glitch, everything went pretty well. Dr. Ma was very knowledgeable and patient with his explanations and my inquiries. He was also thoughtful enough to offer me two prescriptions (stronger one for driving and softer one for computer screen use) when he found out I mostly work in front of a computer screen. My primary goal was to get an updated prescription for glasses and I got it all done within a 30 minute visit. The staff were helpful and thorough with their explanation for my insurance benefits and I really like the doctors there, I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a new office to go to. read more

WAISTED MY TIME AND BAD ATTITUDE! I made appointment for my husband one week ago and the representative said Saturday 4:30, well we arrived on Saturday they said it was Sunday. It might a misunderstanding so we went there again on Sunday, waiting from 4:30 until 6:00! They were repeatedly said we are the next patient because we didn't asked for a specific doctor, however I saw many patients went into the checking room but didn't called my husband's name! I will never go back here and I suggest you do the same. The staffs are horrible and sloppy. Worst of all, they think they are good. I overheard they talked to each other that newbies are not as good as the senior staffs. I am like "RIGHT...." It's laughable. They messed up my appointments and my orders. And one time I scheduled an appointment with a doctor, they did not call to notify me that Dr can not make it that day. And they still argued that I did not tell them I only want that doctor. There is a reason I schedule an appointment with that particular doctor!! And the wait time is long. One time I waited for an hour and I complained to the staff. She is like others waited longer. It really pissed me off. There is a reason we scheduled for that particular time! And it's not like we don't need to work. I had to stick with them just because I have paid with my insurance already. I have not gone back since. The only good thing there is Dr Teresa Wu. She is very friendly and patient. I hope she can find a better store then this. Dr. Wen seems to be very experienced but she is very impatient. I felt she just wanted to shovel me out and get the next one in. We also looked at the sunglasses over there. They said the Tag Heuer is 500 which is more expensive than the Tag Heuer store in Valleyfair for 100 dollars more. That 100 dollars is about the amount that the insurance compensate us for glasses. They just literally raised the price to take that as their profit. I suggest you not to buy glasses there either. read more

Had to come in on a Saturday afternoon to get the hubs glasses fixed that he accidentally broke. Found this place on yelp and we came here cuz we didn't want to go to the mall cuz it would be packed so this place was next on our list. Place is decent size, huge parking lot, a lot of parking but it could get busy and packed due to all the restaurants located here. Walked in the eye place and it was packed, a lot of workers and a lot of customers. We got helped within a few minutes. The receptionist was nice and helped us get a eye technician to fix his glasses. It took him about 5-10 minutes to have them fixed. Would def come back here again for any emergencies. I just picked up my Tiffany & Co. eye glasses with prescription from Golden Milpitas. I would say their range of selections is a lot bigger and better than Vision First Eye Care that is also located in the same plaza. Golden makes great prescription eye glasses, the technician there knows how to adjust the frame to the comfy position for my face. The nicest thing is, they can add nose pads to the frame; this is really nice for someone like me, who has lower nose bridge - and the nose pads are very durable. Now, service can be annoyed sometimes; they have too many staffs who don't have much experiences and always have to wait for the senior to help out. I personally prefer to have Emily to help me, since she's there for many many years. Price wise, they are on the higher side; if I were to choose something that already has nose pads then I might not come here. read more

I've been visiting Golden Milpitas Optometry every year for 15+ years. I live closer to the newer Cupertino location now, but I still come back to the Milpitas store from time to time. There is a wide selection of frames in the store, and I've enjoyed working with Sharon and Kathy over the years. Sometimes they get so busy that they have to divide their time among many customers, but both have been super helpful and neither has tried to sell me things that I don't need. In terms of optometrist, I really like Dr. Julia Wen and would prefer to go to her if her schedule allows. Dr. Wen is the ultimate professional. She has a lot of experience and is obviously very knowledgeable in her field. She is very patient in addressing all of my concerns. read more

So this was my first time getting my eyes checked in the US. I picked Golden Optometry and I'm so glad that this was my first choice. The ambiance, as soon as you enter the store is feels so fancy and posh. I had an appointment with Dr. Shih and she was very sweet and excellent while helping out with my new prescription. She patiently explained to me any concerns I had and helped me understand my retinal scan reports. After I got my prescription, Kathy Ip helped me pick out a pair of sunglasses (prescription ones) and a pair of eyeglasses. So I haven't had to go to an eye place in a long time because I had Lasik. However since 10 years, my eyes have gotten a little worse and I decided to stop on in based on a recommendation on a friend. I am so glad I came in. I was greeted by Huy, who did a phenomenal job going through the different frames so that I would feel comfortable and look good based on my preferences. He was able to look up my insurance with ease and laid out what the procedure was for getting the glasses and setting an appointment with their in-house optometrist. I had my appointment with Jackson Ma O.D. He was super friendly and educated me on what had happen with my eyes after some time with my Lasik. I felt confident in his ability and he was very approachable and gave me a great break down on my eyes. This place does get busy on the weekend, but I was able to stop by during my lunch.
