This place is so shady! They asked for your medical insurance so they run it behind your back to inform you during your exam that my medical insurance can cover part of an elective dry eye cleaning procedure called OptiLight!! How friggin sneaky is that!! I was in a rush and didn't think about it when they asked me for it. For privacy, we shouldn't have to provide medical, just eye insurance is all that was needed. The optician also tries to upsell you on every lens option that is available although you've already told them specifically what you wanted from the start. I also had perused their website before I went into the office because their website said they carry Saint Laurent brand, but to find out they don't. The website should be more clear that it's not available at all locations. Also, one of the young female receptionist was a bit curt and impatient, needs some coaching on providing a great customer service experience. I called to check-in on my order and it sounded like I got the same girl and she was trying to cut me off once she told me that the optician will notify me once they confirm that the order was accurate. I have been in desperate need of my new eyeglasses for obvious reasons. I really dislike giving all these bad reviews lately, but customer service everywhere seems to have gotten so poor after the pandemic like people don't like their job. Because of my insurance plan, I have chosen Golden vision optometry. I came to see Dr. Ma for my glasses and contact lense prescription. Corrupt medical practice. My family has been coming here since I was a child and they used to offer wonderful service. Now they've sold to new owners and my optometrist only cares about profit by pushing Lasik onto not just me, but everyone I know who goes here even though we repeatedly tell them we are not interested. When asked about the risks of Lasik, they are rude and deny it, even though the FDA is going to put a black box warning on Lasik procedures. They refuse to entertain even the risk of phantom pain (which has driven other Lasik patients to suicide). They've moved directly into medical malpractice. My friend, who is a doctor, recommended I report them to the medical board. They consistently try to upsell with other unnecessary procedures and hand out advertisements for out of pocket clinical treatments. They also force the front desk to push this on customers even after I repeatedly have said no. I've bought from luxury stores and the salespeople there are less pushy. They become dismissive when I ask for glasses, which is what I've been coming here as a child for. When I ask for my prescription post-visit, they regularly stonewall me. Honestly, I have nothing nice left to say about this place, except that Emily at the glasses counter is amazing. The optometrists themselves are corrupt as hell. read more

If you're looking for frames, this is probably the place to go. There are tons of options. But if you're just looking for a routine eye exam, I would pass on this place. It feels very much like a place where they crank out a bunch of routine exams and try to push you on extraneous services and buying products. From the moment you walk in, you feel like just a number. The optometrist went quickly through the routine exam before trying to upsell me on a dilation service that looks for problems in your eyes (that's better than the normal dilation service?). I'm sure it's a great service, but she asked me multiple times if I wanted it. From what I understood, I would have to get the service next time I come back or else they couldn't do an adequate analysis. Even if the service really is that crucial, the hard upsell is a major turn-off. read more

A yearly supply for acuvue daily costs 736 (which is 136 out of pocket for me after 300 of insurance copay and 300 of rebate from acuvue). Con: Can get quite busy over the weekend - an appointment might take 1-2 hours. Try to go during the weekdays and you can be in and out in half an hour read more

This is based on personal experience. The store has a wild selection of glasses frame, that's the plus side. But stay out of the Asian lady with blonde hair, she is extremely rude and impatient. I walked in around 530pm for pick up, she replied "pick up what" with a very impatient tone. This wasn't the first time I have engaged her, she was treating me with the same attitude when I had ordered my glasses. I believe she has been acting like that for a while, and the management team wouldn't do anything to correct that. Friendly advise, If you are there for glasses shopping, better to have someone else to assist you. Plus there was no one to assist me for the fitting, I had to guess how much adjustment I need for the glasses frame. I had a very bad experience over there, wouldn't go back again. read more

My kids have been going to this office for the past 5 years. We've been seeing Dr Ma for ortho-k exams and treatments. At first, we were skeptical about putting these lenses on with young kids, but Grace made the experience for us go smoothly. My kids had a really hard time putting these lenses in, but Grace spent a lot of time explaining the steps to put these lenses on and then popped them in quickly before they could react to it! It eased their fears about them tremendously knowing it wasn't painful like they thought. The ortho k lenses are working great so far as their vision has been stable. I would recommend anyone to try these if you're nearsighted as they control your vision and can see during the day. Our family has been going to Dr. Ma and Grace for eye care for about a decade, and the experience has always been exceptional. Came for the consultation for Orth-K program. They recommended a dry eye test for me first, and I do have pretty bad dry eye issues. My eye are itchy and feeling burn especially at night. Dr rec the IPL for me before going forward with any Laser surgery or Orth-K program. I definitely feel the difference after one session. Less itchy and my eyes are just feel clear and light. I am also taking the omega fish oil and the yer drops as Dr instructed. Highly recommend for this IPL for anyone who has dry eye struggles. read more

I went to Golden Vision due to their wide selection of designer frames. I was specifically after ICBerlin due to the hinge design and lightness of the frames. Not mainly optometrists carry them and Golden Vision had a great selection in several colors and styles. Kathy Ip helped me in selecting the frames which suits my face and gave me great recommendations based on my requirements. I ended up picking up another pair of Pradas since I loved the selection of frames and the great customer service. I was expecting the glasses to be ready in two weeks. I get a message a week after to pick up both pairs. I was surprised and happy they were completed so quickly. When I picked them up, Kathy checked my insurance and told I can get another pair. I spent over an hour trying on different pairs and ended up getting a pair of Chanel sunglasses. Kathy was patient and listened. I usually don't do a lot of reviews but really wanted to get on yelp to recommend the new IPL treatment that's available at golden milpitas optometry. For any consumer who suffers chronic dry eyes, this is truly a life saver! I've tried various methods (i.e. eye drops, warm compress, lipid flow, etc..) over the years to ease the pain and irritation from dryness but nothing ever sustains. Recently I've learned about IPL and decided to give it a try. The treatment consists of 4 separate sessions where the practitioner will have you wear a shield with spectrum light to treat your dry eyes. After just two sessions my condition had improved immensely! I no longer feel like I need to apply eye drops every minute of the day and most importantly it's much more sustainable than anything I've previously tried. We had Dr. Ma help facilitate the IPL and he was super informative and helpful during the whole process. If you want to put a stop to chronic dry eyes like me, I highly suggest you go to golden Milpitas optometry for a consultation. I've been to a few optometries in the past but this is my new favorite. I went here for a new glasses & contacts prescription and the staff was very helpful. Jennifer helped me with the paperwork and was patient during contact fitting - I have long acrylics but she showed me how I can still do it. My appointment was with Dr. Ma and he answered all of my concerns since it was my first time getting contacts. He was also very thorough when discussing my retinal scan and explained everything clearly. I didn't ask for the computer prescription but he made one for me anyway. I came again a month later to purchase a new box, but I suggest calling in ahead of time because they may not have it in stock. Brenda (the lady with the huge wedding ring lol) was also really helpful because she gave me some advice about daily contacts and monthlies since I considering between the two. I don't have insurance so I'm gonna buy glasses online for cheaper, but I came in for my PD & they gladly measured me and offered to print me out a new copy of my prescriptions. This store can not be trust at all! I dropped my glasses on 01/26/2023, just to make the sun clip for my new glasses. Month passed. No call from the customer service. After I push a few times, finally they told me about 03/02/2023 said the lab that they sent my order machine was broken and the lab technician was went to vacation too. my agent said I should get it this week around Friday! now is midnight, I didn't hear anything from the store today!! It's not a big job, I don't need to be treated as the VIP. Even I was the good customer before . Now I just want my own glasses back to me as soon as possible. I had a bad experience here and I would not recommend people to come here for their glasses. When I came to pickup my glasses, I was treated by a rule woman. There is no custom service at all here if you need any help. A woman working here insisted nothing is wrong when I told her that my new glasses is uneven on my face. She didn't even check the glasses is okay or not. She just stand there and keep saying it looks even. When I adjusted the nose pieces myself, she told me that there is no refund if I break the glasses. "Are you kidding me?!". Why would you make such a rude comment to customer. I am really glad there is a Golden Vision here in the Silicon Valley Area. I got spoiled by all the great choices of frames available in Golden Vision at Alhambra, SoCal and I was not disappointed with the selections of frame at this store. The first year I relocated to NorCal, I decided to try CVS as it was near my house and we were in the Covid-times, pre-vaccine. I was not happy with both the prescription and the frames. Frames aside, the service at the store was awesome! The check-in process, machine eye tests, optometrist and most importantly the eyewear specialist, Kathy that assisted us in choosing the right frames. Friendly people, but they charge fees for basic things like it's a side of extra guacamole when really it's just ketchup, guys. I'm here for a health service, not some premium luxury michelin star brunch. I recently moved again so had to find a new optometrist...again. Came here for contacts fitting. Be prepared for your usual copay and also a contacts fitting fee, which is also standard but I mention because it's usually a surprise that it's not covered under insurance as part of the exam (can cover as your lens allowance but that means less lenses). However, their fee was a bit pricier than other places. Contacts prices seem a bit pricier than retail stores but that seems to be typical of vision stores. The one charge that caught me off guard is that they charge PER PRESCRIPTION. I'm sorry, but it's literally one exam. At other places, I'm given multiple contacts to try and have a follow up to check how it's working, even if it's the same as previous years. I didn't get that here, didn't try on any contacts. Just got a written rx because nothing changed. Although when asked about it, they offered samples. But I was charged if I wanted a prescription that listed different contact brands. I usually get multiple prescriptions to try different brands and types (dailies, monthlies, color) and is ultimately up to me which one I choose to buy, mix or match, and use regularly (who the heck wears colored contacts year round?!). But here, you'll need to pay for those choices. I have never had that happen in my entire life of being nearly blind. When you go to a doctor, they don't charge you per medication you need (choose between your diabetes or stroke prescription anyone?!), they charge on the exam because IT'S THE SAME EXAM. So it's crazy to me they charge per prescription. In the end, I had to go back for something and another worker overheard something separate and actually realized my situation needed to or could be billed a certain way that saved me a tonnn. Definitely makes up for the prescription charge, but still that shouldn't be a thing. A little upset that not everyone is trained the same on billing insurances but also being in healthcare I know very well how difficult and tricky billing is so I understand the struggles. But it's also why I'm so upset about charges that I know are put on by the business that they claim are due to insurance when it's not. It's just greed. Like that doc that wants to keep seeing you every month just got a refill of your med. Not illegal, but just blatantly greedy. But hey, I'm very very very very thankful for the lady who caught the other situation. I owe her my eyeball. Overall, everyone's super friendly, even as I'm reacting in shock to the charges and prices. Nothing you can really do about it except do your research beforehand so hopefully this helps someone. If you need one thing and one thing only, no special lenses, no add on, willing to take anything they give you, then this place will be for you. If you are particular about your eye needs, then just be ready to pay up for all those boxes they're suddenly checking on that order form. read more

I've had my eyes checked and ordered glasses at this branch. They messed up my glasses 4 times now and still can't make the glasses right. 1st time went here and I've waited more than month before I learned that they have lost my glasses. They never called or texted me. When I called them, they said my glasses are available for pickup. When I got to the clinic, they said they could not find my glasses. Okay, they said they look for it and they will call me if they have located it. Apparently, they could not find it so I had to go back and reorder my glasses. Third time I went here when they confirmed my glasses is now available, but when I checked my glasses the lenses are different color from what I've ordered. So they have to reordered to get the lenses fixed. 4th time i came back, the color of the lenses are correct but this time, the grade of my lenses are not right. Hopefully, they will get my glasses right on my 5th visit. I don't recommend this branch. Either I'll find other competent and reliable clinic or maybe just maybe go to Cupertino branch. I needed to add anti-reflective coating on the lenses of an eye-wear already made and I wanted to inquire about out-of-pocket options. Without looking at us, she screams,walking in haste , "it's not possible Now, insurance is already used". It was close to 6 so I guess she wanted to get rid of us without discussing options. However, it was demeaning and highly inappropriate. She assumed that we cannot afford to pay out of pocket. The only reason I gave 2 star is because the doc is pretty good and the other sales rep tried to help us and ask for options when she was available. RIP OFF!!!!! *** PUSHY: After our eye exams (which were mostly conducted by assistances, by the way, and not by the real eye doctor), we identified our eyeglass frames and got ready for the lens and pricing discussion. They pushed for a $280 upgrade to the lens for crap like "scratch resistent, UV block, no glare, etc, etc, etc. ... Feeling like 'about' to get ripped off, I flatly declined ALL and ANY upgrade and indicated that I just want a plain-vanilla lens... (mainly to gauge their reaction) and sure enough, my salesperson simply walked away. Another lady came and re-sold the entire $280 upgrade, indicating why it's really good for my eyes, etc. This time, the 2nd associate softened the tone and said, well, you may not need this and that and lowered the "upgrade to $190" and then said "with the insurance, you are really getting a $500 pair of glasses for only $370".... Seriously!!!!?!?!? *** SNOBBY: I ended up with an $80 upgrade and my glasses were still $200. My pair of plain-vanilla back up glasses. I guess that cut into their commission and they then gave me as little attention as possible. They quickly finished the transaction and said that the glasses will be ready in 2 weeks. read more

Mom had her eye exam and new pair of glasses with Golden Milpitas. Since pandemic started, mom can't go to Hong Kong to get her new pair of glasses. Prescription glasses is much cheaper in Hong Kong, and mom near sightseeing power rate is so high and she needs a pair of glasses in light weight. Finally, I brought her to Golden Milpitas for a try, since Costco lens are way too thick and heavy, plus the glasses made her dizzy. Dr. Wong is super super nice and experienced, mom needs a Cantonese speaking optometrist. Dr. Wong can answered all the questions and concerns mom had. We both love Sharon, she picked the light weight frame for mom and the lens here are super super thin and light weight. Mom can see things clear and the glasses are not heavy at all.
