I got referred to this place through my insurance and someone from their office reached out after to schedule my appointment and handle the intake forms. Checked in at the desk and filled out the intake form. The pdf e-form didn't get recorded for some reason. I'd recommend saving the file after you've filled it out and emailing it directly back to the staff. Not a big deal, took five minutes to redo it. Consultation process was chill. Just got my eye pressure measured by Faith, a series of eye scans by Carlos, and then an exam by their optometrist, Dr. Tran. Impressed at how comprehensive it was. Dr. Tran measured the range of my current prescription submitted. Just the standard stuff from a regular the exam. Cool witty personality, got through the quick and dirty process real fast. Next, I was walked to another room where I chatted with their patient counselor Jian and Dr. Scott Hyver on a Skype call for about 40 minutes to discuss my results, pricing, and options. Two weeks later, I had a 30 minute Zoom call with Dr. Robert Lin. Dr. Lin was super personable and we chatted through my charts, risks, process, and everything else regarding EVO ICL. While I didn't end up going forward with Dr. Lin and IQ, I had a great experience overall with their team. I'm sure it's a great spot to get your eye procedures done. Tip: check with your vision insurance on discounts. I got referred to this place through EyeMed and they offered a 15% discount. I went to the optometrist for the first time since seeing him over 20 years ago. I'm 51 this year. This is a review for the consultation I had with them. Everyone seemed nice and knowledgeable, but get a second opinion if they say you aren't a candidate for LASIK. Let me say I don't believe they did this intentionally, maybe it was their tech or the results were misread or who knows what, but I ended up getting a second opinion after they said I wasn't a candidate and come to find out I was an ideal candidate for LASIK with a different company. Hyver did say I was a candidate for PRK or EVO but I was really shooting for LASIK since it has less of a recovery time than PRK and is cheaper than EVO. I went with a different company and I am now 2 weeks post op. The LASIK surgery went incredibly well with no issues and I'm 20/20! All this to say, do your due diligence when it comes to choosing what's best for you. read more

I initially scheduled my free consultation at the Daly City office as I was last minute trying to see if I was candidate so that I could put money into my FSA. After finding out I was a candidate, I proceeded with the following appointments in Santa Clara as it was most convenient location for me. Every part of the process from pre-op exams, surgery, and post-op went exceedingly well. As your can imagine, getting lasik eye surgery is not something that comes without nerves. With my eye history, I thought all the bad things imaginable would happen to me, but I put all my confidence in Dr. Hyver and his staff. Thankfully I did because my life has never been the same since. The visits to the office, the 15 min surgery, and putting in the eyedrops routinely are nothing compared to my lifestyle now. You do through the determination process where they read the prescription of my eyes, the thickness of my cornea, and other technical measurements. However in the end I was not eligible for either treatment. While I was disappointed in that result I was quite impressed by their level of professionalism. Dr. Hyver's staff is super efficient. Most of them are very personable, but it's mostly business and I appreciate that. They gave me a thorough run through of what the procedure and recovery would be. I was trying to decide between Hyver and Furlong, and it was actually a very difficult decision The procedure was less than 10 minutes long. You barely feel anything - and people freak out about it ahead of time - trust me, it's super chill. I would get this procedure every six months if needed - luckily you only need it once or twice to last almost the rest of your life! I see a little better than 20/20 now. I got my LASIK done on a Thursday afternoon, and I worked the next day. The dry burn definitely hurts for the first 1-2 hours after the anesthesia wears off. I'm due for a review by now. It's been about 8 months since I got Lasik (PRK) with Dr. Hyver and I feel like it's been one of the best choices I've ever made in life. Vision-wise, my prescription prior to surgery was -5 and -4 in my left and right eyes. Basically, I was damn near blind. Ever since the surgery I'm seeing a perfect 20/20. It's an amazing feeling being able to see clearly from the moment I wake up to when I go to bed. No more contacts or glasses! Due to the characteristics of my eyes, Dr. Hyver recommended I go with PRK surgery. While I was eligible for Lasik, one concern I had was that I was also very active in sports. I've gotten elbowed in the face during basketball and I've even had my contacts plucked out while playing football. Hearing horror stories of people getting their cornea flaps ripped out accidentally was enough for me to go with PRK. So glad I did! I wanted to wait until a little after my surgery to write this so I knew how the results turned out, and I couldn't be happier with my choice to go to Dr. Hyver! I went to three different clinics to make sure I was making the right decision. After my initial consultation with Dr. Hyver, I decided I wanted to go with him and his team. The initial tests they ran were far more in depth than the other places and they were really upfront with the risks that came with surgery. I felt like I was being sold to by the other doctors, but Dr. Hyver's team was professional and never made me feel that way. The prices are a little bit higher than some of the other places I visited, but not enough to make a huge difference. The small extra you pay is very worth it to be sure your eyes are taken care of. I had my surgery a month ago and the surgery was SO EASY. I didn't feel any pain at all and Dr. Hyver talks you through the whole thing (literally 5 minutes). The recovery process afterwards is pretty straightforward too. I went back for my final check up on Monday and I was seeing 20/15! I don't have very dry eyes and I am loving the results so far. I'll keep it simple and sweet. I'll spare you the pain of "oh, I used to wear contacts/glasses for 30 years and then I decided to get Lasik... story." Reason I chose this doctor for my procedure is because of their professionalism to this sensitive of surgery. Its our eyes for God sake. I, at first was VERY apprehensive and naturally nervous to get Lasik done. But from the first consultation to the procedure to my follow up check ups. They were very professional and keep with details and answered all my 34657653 questions regarding the surgery. What to expect: -The doctors and surgery coordinators basically walk you thru the first appt., the surgery, and the post surgery "check up" appts. -Expect your eyes to be dilated a few times. -Surgery does create a little discomfort in/around the eyes. -Pain is about 3 (tolerance dependent) on a scale of 1-10. 10 being high. 1 bring low. -Post surgery, it feels as a headache is about to come on, but never actually does... ya that feeling. You'll experience that for a few days but that eventually subsides. What I liked was: -Their professionalism and approach to patient care. -The facility/surgery center; soft lighting, clean, organized, and fresh feel to it. -The doctors, assistants, and receptionist were friendly and informative. Who's better than a Harvard MD and the official eye doctor of the 49ers? NOBODYYYY!!!! Been wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years. My regular optometrist said I would be a good candidate for Lasik, but recommended that I wait til after my 29th bday. I waited a year after that while having 3 annual check ups where my prescription hasn't changed, and decided to go in for none other than Scott Hyver. You might've heard his commercials, both on TV and on the radio cause I sure have. They do a really good job of marketing, so I had to come in for the free consultation. On my consultation, there were tons of people doing the same thing. I guess they're popular? The receptionist was pretty nice and seemed to be working really hard since tons of people are there. They had two optometrists working along with Scott Hyver himself. They ran a bunch of the usual eye test (Pressure test WITHOUT the air thing), tell me what's better 1 or 2 , 3 or 4 test, and the bright light pupil test. Results came in and indeed I was a good candidate for Lasik, which I kinda already knew. I know a friend who came in that had thin corneas, so she was not a good candidate. That gave me some comfort to know that they won't just let any joe schmo that comes in. After the consultation, they do a follow up where they dilate your eyes. More non-air pressure test, 1-2 better test, and bright lights. They are VERY thorough, so that is much appreciated. At this point, you would have to make your payment , they give you final instructions, and gave you the eye drop prescriptions. On the day of the surgery, you had already been doing eye drops the day before to prepare. There were a lot of people that were getting the same surgery as well, so that is comforting to know. I said good bye to my glasses and then about 15min later, I am done! You come out blurry, but they give you a free pair of sunglasses with a recommendation to take a 5 hour nap after. 5 hours later.. I have perfect vision! I could see soem red spots where they used the laser to cut my cornea, which is normal. Next morning it went away. You have a checkup the next day and then a month later as your last appointment to make sure everything is healing correctly. I couldn't ask for a better experience! The staff was super nice, the price was comparable to other places (my insurance covered some of the procedure while my flex spending helped with the rest). Scott Hyver is a really smart doctor and you will be in great hands with him. I just had my Lasik yesterday. I showed up a bit early so I was able to finish early. Overall the procedure went fast. I want to say maybe 15 min, including time in the waiting room. I took calming meditation and ibuprofen just in case. Dr Hyver was very nice and was talking to me during the surgery. Honestly it's nothing to be afraid of. You can't feel anything. Just follow the green and red lights and listen to what the doctor says. My eyes were on fire after this. I couldnt keep them open. But then it was gone. Next morning I freaked out a bit because my vision was blurry. So my right eye is 20/15, but left eye has a bit of inflammation and dryness. So I was told it's normal and everyone is recovering in a different way. I will have to continue applying more drops and have another check next week. I hope my vision will be perfect. In January 2002, nearly 6 years ago, I paid a visit to Dr. Hyver to have Lasik surgery . I could have had my insurance pay a portion if I went to "their" Dr however this was my eyesight! Hands down the best thing I ever did!! There is nothing cosmetic about being able to see without correction. I still see 20/15 :) I felt he was very thorough setting expectations. Lasik is a wonderful thing however he did make it clear that this surgery would not prevent me from needing reading glasses later on down the line. ;( The absolute worse parts were having the shields placed in your eyes to hold them open and the first couple of hours after the numbing agent wore off. I was walking around a dark room with my eyes tearing and burning. I would say 90 minutes after the surgery was the peak pain then is began to dissipate. You know what three hours after my appointment - I could already see a vast improvement in my eyes sight. 17 hours after my surgery, I ventured out to drive for the very first time without any corrective lenses!! Hurray for LASIK literally changing my life! I am one of the youngest to get it, considering I'm barely over 21. However, it's been great! I first came for a free consultation and the staff here is incredibly nice and helpful. They offer free wifi and water and were super accommodating. After passing the various tests, I met Dr. Hyver and he walked me through the process. They have an expert staff that made me feel comfortable during every visit before the surgery. On surgery day, they saw I was super nervous and gave me some ibuprofen. The doctors and nurses were extremely patient with me during the surgery even though I kept blinking. It was the best experience I could have asked for! I CAN SEE! As for the aftermath of the surgery, I felt okay right after, and listened to the Warriors game at home (keeping those eyes closed haha), and then knocked out. I went to visit Dr. Hyver on a recommendation from a friend who had LASIK done with Dr. Hyver. The facilities were nice, the examination was great and Dr. Hyver told me that I actually wasn't an ideal LASIK candidate based on my tests and recommended PRK. That was all fine and dandy and I go to make an appointment to get the procedure done. This is where it gets shady like what V.C. mentioned. I was originally quoted a price of 5,300 with all follow up procedures and what not. My friend who had it done last year had his done for something like 4,200. Do I ask about that and if there's a discount and the lady tells me that yeah, since you were referred to us, it's 500 off so it's 4800. Fine, then I tell her I wanted to check out Dr. Furlong since my optometrist recommended him and then I get the story of how Dr. Hyver is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then after visiting Dr. Furlong, I decided to go with Furlong to do my procedure (He also recommended PRK). At Furlong's office, I was told that the most they could charge was 4,600 because I'm a VSP patient. I contact Dr. Hyver to cancel my appointment and the same lady says "Oh you're a VSP patient? we can offer you 4,600 as well!" Where the hell was the 4,600 when you looked up my insurance file and saw that I was a VSP patient and still quoted me 5,300? SHADY! Anyhow, I'm sure Dr. Hyver does excellent work based on my friend and other Yelpers out here, but the shady business practice just rubbed me the wrong way.... read more

On April 1st, I signed my eyes away to Dr. Hyver. After my first consultation I discovered I was not a candidate for Lasik and had to go with PRK surgery. The day I found out, I quickly made an appointment with Kaiser and I was told that I was a good candidate for Lasik. They immediately took me out of my contacts for 2 weeks, then another 2 weeks after and probably would have been longer if I continued to treat with them. (I was told that wearing contacts reshapes your corneas and being out of them for a month would increase the possibility of them going back to normal.) A month passed and I decided to go back to Hyver so he could recheck my eyes. Once again, he refused to do Lasik and would only recommend PRK. The surgery itself was a piece of cake; it took about 12 minutes in the operating room! I was given valium to calm my nerves while someone held my face and explained every step of the procedure. I am thankful to have made the right decision to stick with Hyver. It's only been 2 months and my vision is close to 20/15. For a few days after the procedure, I was in excessive pain and emotionally frustrated since my eyes were so out of focus! I had to wear the goggles, use a ton of eye drops, and take pills every 4 hours. Customer service from the staff was "ok" but after reading the reviews I am not the only one who feels this way. Some of the girls were a bit rude and my counselor was never reachable. I would always have to leave her messages and wait for a call back. I also had my appointment rescheduled due to the doctor being out of the office. On the day of my surgery there was a young man getting one of his eyes redone; that may not seem like a good thing, but I was pleased to know that I could count on them to recorrect my vision free of charge, if I needed too in the future. Hvyer is definitely a bit more expensive than other places, but in the end you only have one pair of eyes. I would have paid double to get my results! I figured that the first review I write with my "new" eyes should be one for this place! I really wasn't planning on having laser eye surgery for another year. I figured, I'd been wearing glasses and contacts for 23 years already. What's another year? But I had reached a breaking point. I couldn't see 100% with my contacts due to my astigmatism and, even though my glasses gave me 20/20 vision, I couldn't stand the lack of peripheral vision. I had evaluations at two other places before going to Scott Hyver. The first place said my corneas were too thin and said I didn't qualify for any of their procedures. The second place said I qualified for PRK only, but focused too much on describing their laser machine versus the one at Hyver. I had my third evaluation at Hyver and there was no turning back! Scott Hyver was the most thorough and competent out of the three when it came to the actual eye examination, explaining the procedure and answering all of my questions. They even sent me home with a packet of information for both PRK and LASIK (which I qualified for both despite having thin corneas) and were the only ones to follow up with me after my evaluation. Also, their staff is super nice and friendly. Dr. Edwin Dumlao is an awesome optometrist. He's a fun guy to talk to and makes you feel super comfortable with everything. Dr. Scott Hyver is super knowledgeable and meets with you during the initial evaluation, not just on surgery day. I had the all-laser LASIK procedure because it's ideal for people with thinner corneas and the recovery time is incredibly short. It's definitely on the more expensive side (versus PRK), but you can get a discount if you have VSP insurance. They also offer a 24-month no interest payment plan if you can't pay in full. The procedure itself was only about 30 - 40 minutes and Dr. Hyver talks you through each step as he's doing it. They give you plenty of numbing drops, so the most uncomfortable part is when they put this device on your eye to scan and make the flap. Just feels like someone putting pressure on your eye, but it's not painful. I was lucky and didn't experience any pain, even right after the surgery, and I could start seeing clearly only an hour later. Just make sure to follow the post-op instructions! The eye drops and protective sleep goggles can get a little annoying, but definitely worth the trouble to be able to eliminate the use of contacts and glasses and waking up being able to see clearly every morning. The next day I was practically seeing 20/20! There is a slight haze, especially around lights, but that will go away in a few months as the eyes recover more. Laser eye surgery is WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY! I definitely suggest going to Scott Hyver. Dr. Scott Hyver and his staff are very competent, informative and friendly. As corny as this sounds, I found Dr. Hyver on the radio while listening to a 49ers game. He is the official doctor of the 49ers...blah blah blah. I went to him after I did some price comparison. Stanford was more expensive due to the name, but Dr. Hyver was equally qualified and cheaper. Both eyes ran me a under 5k for sure. It varies by prescription, but I was super blind...like 20/300 or something like that. He has multiple locations in Santa Clara, Daly City, and San Ramon. I know see 20/15 and am sooo happy with my vision. As Cammy G said, the consultative session is free, and then there's multiple appointments to gage your measurements. He measures you twice to be super sure. Here's the one thing I will tell EVERYONE... The operation takes less then 5 minutes. What was nerve racking was the set up to the actual procedure. I was sweating, cold, and a little shaky. The room is really cold so dress appropriately. Once they put the numbing drops in my eyes, I felt NOTHING. I am the biggest chicken...and this was cake. I was and am 100% satisfied. Side note~ What they don't highlight is the pain you feel after. They tell you there is pain and you need to take some medicine. I was thinking like sore pressure pain. It's not like that. It's a burning pain. Your eyes feel like you have cut 6 onions and added that Vietnamese Sriracha sauce. They burn...but here's the tip to avoid that. After you are done with the procedure and some one has picked you up, just take some pain medicine that will put you to sleep. The pain only lasts for 4 hours and once that time is up..the pain really does go away. If you are up for those 4 hours with eyes open...you will suffer, but as long as you sleep and not open your eyes...you will be solid. Again...just giving my opinion...and I love the quick and efficient service at the Santa Clara office. Everyone is helpful, and Dr. Hyver knows what he is doing. I was in good hands. If you don't want to read a long review, read the takeaways at the bottom. Look at the review history - stellar 5-stars all around. That played a big role in my choosing Scott Hyver to do my PRK. In addition to that, I was impressed by his staff and the way he answered questions when I was in the 'choosing-a-doctor' stage, and by his frankness of the risks and his past experiences. Fast forward to 5 months post-surgery - I am happy with a 20/20 result in both eyes. So why the 3-stars? Here's why: 1. On the day of the surgery and in the pre-op conversations, it was a total cattle mill. I could not even talk to Hyver for a second, they just started on the surgery. They gave me a paper of medicines and things to do, but didn't share that it would be 1-2 weeks of non-functionality with PRK. All I learned I did by reading online in the week before and after - where I got reassured that my experience was normal. 2. About 2 months post-surgery I got a sty in my eyelid. I had never had a sty before and I didn't know if this was related to the surgery or not, so I called Hyver instead of my regular eye doctor. To cut a long story short, they didn't know what to do - I wasted about 2-3 weeks and 2 visits into the office, and they kept telling me to continue compresses. Finally Hyver looked up a textbook to find out what antibiotic he could prescribe - and it didn't work. A month into this I called my regular eye doc - this is probably one of the most routine things he deals with - and he told me about eye cleaning scrubs and a different antibiotic as well as topical cream and my sty vanished in about 10 days. Takeaways: - Hyver is a good Lasik / PRK guy. I would still recommend people for that. However , he is so specialized that he couldn't handle a basic eye problem outside of laser correction. - Don't schedule your appointment in January when they have all the FSA patients and are doing 15 surgeries a day. - After they've hooked you into signing up, the communication and willingness to listen does go down. Insist on talking to the staff about what to expect and do a lot of reading online, till you feel confident. Good luck! read more

It's been almost 2 months since my surgery and I'm soooo happy with the results. I was referred by Yelp's own Flor D. (who I work with in the non-yelp world). I didn't even know he had radio commercials! Having a referral name saves you about $500 - so that helped. Scott Hyver is still expensive compared to others, but I wouldn't go to just any doctor. I wanted the best. If they offer coupons or specials, I don't trust them. I asked for Valium before the surgery - but I swear I don't think I needed it. I was in the surgery room for probably 10 minutes. 8 minutes of that was me sitting there with numbing drops. The surgery went like this: "OK stare at the red blinking light OK now you'll feel a bit of pressure on your eye Now the red blinking light will go away Now the red blinking light will be blurry And now the red blinking light is back Now let's do your left eye" I literally asked "that's it?!?" (In my mind I was asking - "That's what I just paid you $5k for?!?") but I couldn't be happier with the results. The surgery was not painful at all - "uncomfortable" maybe. When I got home I ate lunch, took a sleeping pill, woke up 4 hours later and could see just fine. I felt like there was a peice of sand in my left eye for a couple days (because my eyes were dry) but other than that, it was cake. The day after I was already 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. They said that will only get better over the next few months. I laugh and say I'll have x-ray vision soon. I missed my follow up appointment last week, so I don't know how much better my vision is - but I know I have never seen this well before! It's still a trip being able to see the clock in the middle of the night. I really wanted to get this done before my wedding. I'm a cry-baby at weddings, and know my contacts would have popped out during the ceremony. I waited for January so that I could enroll in my company's FSA. That probably saved me 30-40%. read more

Dr. Hyver performed PRK laser eye surgery on me almost 3 months ago and my entire experience with his office has been nothing short of fantastic. I was a nearly lifelong contacts and glasses wearer with extreme nearsightedness and an -8.5 prescription in both eyes. I can't express how much it thrills me to finally be one of those cliché people who say, "laser eye surgery changed my life!" I went to 4 different consultations with various eye surgeons around the Bay Area before I decided on ScottHyver Visioncare. Several factors went into my choosing him such as: -his professional and friendly front desk/support staff -the extensive and thorough testing done both before and after finding out if I was a candidate for surgery -and the one on one time Dr. Hyver spent with me explaining the PRK surgery and answering my questions. Sometimes "shopping" for an eye surgeon can make feel like you just stepped onto a used car lot - there can be pushy "patient counselors" who insist on scheduling you right then and there. That was not the case at ScottHyver Visioncare; they simply gave me a comprehensive packet of everything I needed to know and told me to call if/when I was ready to schedule. Once I decided to proceed with the surgery, I had a specific window of time that I needed to have the procedure done and the office staff was incredible about working with me, which I really appreciated. I was also pleasantly surprised after my surgery; there was some discomfort, as expected, but no real pain, no excessive tearing, swelling, extreme dryness, or any complications to speak of. I spent the better part of the week prior to my surgery reading about others experiences, watching YouTube videos, ect and I was honestly surprised at what a breeze my recovery seemed to be compared to others. Dr. Hyver was recommended to me by quite a few people that I knew who did LASIK with him. His reputation is even furthered by his Harvard medical schooling and his numerous professional athlete clientele. That said, you probably won't find the best deal with him. But, personally, I would rather spend the extra money and know that I was in good hands. The initial consultation is free and there's multiple appointments leading up to the actual procedure and a couple afterwards. Dr. Hyver and the staff there were always very friendly, helpful, and very professional. If you're not a good candidate for LASIK, Dr. Hyver won't hesitate to turn you away. I have wanted to get my eyes corrected for years but I never had the money or it was never a good time. My last checkup at the eye doctor went well and they gave me a brochure for Scott Hyver Visioncare. I decided to at least schedule a free consultation. On February 21, I went to Scott Hyver's office and had my eyes examined, measured, checked by another doctor in the office. He put together my file and I met with Dr. Hyver. We sat down together and went over my chart and he informed me I was not a candidate for Lasik. He explained the specifics of my optic nerve drusen condition and the risks. PRK was my only option. So 3 weeks ago I had PRK done on both eyes and I'm seeing almost PERFECT. I saw my regular eye doc yesterday and I have 20/20 in my right eye and 20/25 in my left. This is still going to improve. I've still had no fluctuation in vision or anything the last few weeks. I've been driving at night without halos or starbursts. No light sensitivity but wearing sunglasses as suggested. No dry eyes either. I've had an incredible fast recovery from PRK. It's been amazing. I would like to thank Dr. Hyver and the rest of the office for an amazing experience. Great experience but really expensive! but dam, dat recovery time! (Basically just 4 hours of keeping your eyes closed) I did the entire thing in 4 days. Day 1 Tuesday: Consolation, 1.15 Hours Day 2 Wednesday: Pre-op, 1 Hours Day 3 Thursday: Operation, 40 Minutes Day 4 Firday: Post-Op, 20 Minutes ... It's now Saturday. Having worn glasses since I was in 2nd grade, I'd have to say it was a long time coming to finally get my vision taken care of for good. I'm 32 now and have always been concerned about the technology of LASIK/PRK. After consulting with my family, which included my brother, sister, and brother-in-law, they recommended I go with Dr. Hyver. All 3 of them got their surgeries done with Dr. Hyver and are still very happy with their vision after about 10 years (I think). As I mentioned, I was nervous for the consultation, but the staff made me feel very welcomed and the office was very professionally designed. It made me feel right at home. They welcomed any questions I had and answered with extreme professionalism. I never felt any pressure that I had to go with him to do the procedure, which is always good in my books. After the initial consultation, I was told that I was a good candidate for Wavefront LASIK and was happy about that since my brothers and sister all had PRK done, which can take 30 days to recover. I got a chance to talk to Dr. Hyver, who assured me that everything was going to be OK and he walked me through the process and what to expect. I had to reschedule numerous appointments due to my heavy workload, but the staff was very accommodating. I finally got the procedure done and it took all but about 5 minutes for the LASIK procedure. I have to admit, the first 4 hours after the surgery, my eyes were burning like I had red hot chili peppers rubbed into them, but was able to sleep it though. When I woke up, "VOILA!" I can finally see without my glasses. Of course, it was still a bit hazy and dry, but I was able to drive and function normally without glasses. I would have to say that this is a life changing procedure, knowing that I can go out and do activities without having to worry about glasses. It has been over 3 months now and my vision is great. I do sometimes get dry eyes, but notice that I am getting it less and less. So to sum up my opinion about my decision to go with Dr. Hyver, I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking into LASIK/PRK. Not only is he very professional and great at what he does, he also has a great, courteous, and knowledgeable staff members to back him up. I understand that most people would see him as being a little on the expensive side, but we're talking about your vision here and to me, there is no compromise on price when it comes to your vision; only reputation. And being known as the best doctor in his field is good enough of a reputation for me. Wow, I just realized how long this review is so sorry about that, but I hope someone will find this informative. Let me tell you something about ScottHyver Visioncare. Not only is he the BEST in his field, he is super nice and completely straight forward. He knows what he is doing and he is honest about his capabilities. I never once felt talked down to. He has fantastic patient care and he not only answered all my questions but spent actual time with me, making me at ease with the procedure. His staff is AMAZING! Every single person I came into contact with in his office was respectful, engaging and kind. They were also well-informed, professional and you could tell that they enjoy the work that they do. Having someone shoot laser beams into your eyeballs can be an unnerving experience, but Dr. Hyver explained every step of the procedure as he was doing it. I just had the surgery a week ago, and every single morning I wake up and can see a marked improvement in my vision. For someone that has had to wear glasses since the age of eight, I can't tell you how liberating it feels to be able to see my alarm clock in the morning without having to put glasses on or contacts in. While the price was a little high, it was worth EVERY penny! Vision is EXTREMELY important and I was willing to pay 2x more than other quotes I received because Dr. Hyver was the ONLY doctor who made me feel comfortable. Not to sound like a big girly-girl, but last night I almost started crying when I realized my eyesight was 20/15 and I never have to wear glasses again. WOW, I can go to a night club now and not be that geek in the glasses. My eyesight was so bad that the week prior to making my consultation appointment I walked into a mirror. I had my surgery yesterday morning and am experiencing the usual side effects. Some minor halos around lights at night and dry eyes are the worst things I've experienced. I have had almost zero pain from the procedure! The vaium that they give you before your surgery did the trick to calm me down. Their staff cares and are extremely personable. I actually enjoyed them tremendously. I had my follow-up appointment today. My vision is better than perfect. I went out and purchased my first pair of non-prescription sunglasses. Overall, great experience. I shopped for lasik with a couple of different doctor offices and came away impressed most by Dr. Hyver. I'll be honest, Dr. Hyver came off a little arrogant when I met him, someone that seemed like he knew everything. But to be honest, he does know everything LOL. The dude is a straight up genius; he knows everything about the eyes! I had to take care of some eye inflammation before getting surgery done, but Dr. Hyver was very informative of the process, the timeline of everything, etc. He sets conservative timelines so that he can be sure that everyone is good and taken care of. He also did a great job of hiring excellent doctors and office staff. Everyone top to bottom was professional and cared about the patient experience.
