Since I have stairs in my house and the new one has an elevator he estimated 4 men and more hours due to stairs and elevator that could potentially take longer. Enrique and his 3-man team arrived before the scheduled window. They did a walk through for assessment and then proceeded methodically and meticulously to pack what I did not and move everything to their 1 truck (yes, 1 truck was enough). They packed in 3 hours. At the destination (which was local), in spite of the elevator, they finished the move in 3 hours. 10 hours was estimated, but Enrique did it in 6 hours. Kudos to them! They did a fabulous job. The overall process was really convenient, especially because of their flexible time window. Moving: the two movers, Herman and Aleksei, were incredibly efficient and very sweet/patient throughout the move. I appreciate that they handled both my expensive & economical items delicately. Paid a little over 2.5k to move a 630 sq ft 1b/1b 3 miles and had 3, and eventually 4 movers. Overall I'd say it was good, not great When I scheduled I explained I had two walkins with lots of clothes - they assigned me three people when I likely needed more as I had a walkup. We ended up totally missing the window for the move which is more my fault but I had asked the people who confirmed if they felt it was reasonable. They helped move the hanging items (which I expect) and had me pitch in to pack the glass despite having asked for them to send someone to do this. It's not an issue but I do think there was a general lack of communication bw the movers and the ppl who helped book that made the day less efficient than it could have been. I'm happy to pack those things as it gave me an outlet for my moving anxiety and saves me time ofc but even without packing glass it still took 9 hours When I realized we were pretty behind it was very easy to get someone else last minute at noon, so that was helpful and everyone coordinated quickly to make it happen. All the guys were also very respectful and carefully wrapped my furniture (table, 4 chairs, coffee and side table, large tv, bed and heavy lifting frame, chair desk and small wine fridge). Accidents happen and with the Flying House Movers you'll only get the run around to resolving it. In addition to my marble top missing, they damaged: my dining table, office desk, headboard, and scratched the frame of a painting. I played the fool and initially thought they had done a great job, so much so that I bought the movers lunch on both days and tipped them very generously. If you want to use this moving company, be prepared and check all your items immediately and report them to Stan, he will take a long time getting back to you and then come up with excuses for the delays. Their van was packed full and we almost needed two trips but they came up with a solution to do it in one. Worst movers ever! We hired Jose and crew for a cross country move. When he arrived to give us an…read moreestimate, his pitch was that he would treat our belongings as if they were his own prized possessions...so far from the truth! We asked him about storage given the fact that we had not secured our new home and he replied that he had a warehouse. We specifically asked if it was "simply a storage unit." Oh no, "he replied." (Not true...see photo.) We did our due diligence and checked his reviews, and called some references that he provided. I checked the DOT website to confirm his credentials. The site stated that his was not authorized for interstate moving. I asked him about it and he said that he simply needed to update/renew (he sent a copy of the form that he submitted.) On the day of delivery, I asked to see his cargo insurance (following best practices). He was offended and said he did not want to do the job because we don't trust him. (He did not have cargo insurance.) We had a deadline and did not have the time to secure another mover on that day. We appeased him and moved forward. Fast forward to delivery day about 7 weeks later. He was missing so many items, and there was so much damage! He left an entire pallet behind...sofa, queen size headboard to name a few. When i said that I was missing designer bags his response was that I was lying and did not have any...WHAT? When he returns to CA he discovers my things (see photos). He then has my things shipped on a pallet. I am still missing items...designer umbrellas, RH bath accessories, lamp shade...the list is too long. Adding insult to injury, roaches were crawling out of the boxes from his "warehouse" and a mouse was brought into my new home! Horrific experience! I may need to seek legal advice as the cost of repairs, extermination, and replacement of missing items is growing exponentially! The UPack container was assembled/shrink wrapped by Jose and arrived just as he prepared it. See photo
