The kindest family, and they offer really strong services! I bought my wedding dress from a sample sale to save money. Golden Thread turned the dress, which was way too big initially, into my dream dress! They even attached sleeves, which made the look exactly what I wanted So grateful I trusted them with my wedding dress. I will be back for all alterations in the future. Side note: my entire family is on the east coast, and could not be with me while I tried on wedding dresses. The seamstress made me feel really special when I tried on my dress for the final fitting. It made me feel like it was my own auntie seeing me in a dress, which was very emotional. Thank you so so much

Writing this review to share how much I loved working with Mrs. Kim and Wu. This is a small, family-owned business, and the care they put into their work truly shows. We did a semi-elopement at City Hall with just immediate family, and I received my dress only 1.5 months before our scheduled date. Despite the tight timeline, Mrs. Kim and Wu were able to complete the alterations beautifully and on time. Mrs. Kim is an absolute sweetheart--she immediately knew what adjustments to make to ensure the dress fit my body perfectly, and she clearly explained how each change would enhance the overall look. My dress was also quite complex due to the lining at the bottom, but she was still able to alter the length seamlessly. Their pricing was very reasonable, especially considering both the complexity of the dress and the time crunch. I was so impressed that I've already recommended them to several girlfriends this year. I couldn't be happier with the experience and results.

I arrived 4 months before my wedding. I gained weight from job stress and my unaltered dress looked like a hot mess on me. Everyone was so calm and reassured me that everything would be alright. They held on to my dress for me while giving me extra time to lose weight (which was my request). About 2 months before the wedding, the alteration work began and each time I came in for a fitting, the dress was looking much more like I had imagined it to look on my big day. Now look at it..... I mean LOOK AT IT! Their end result was PERFECT. I'm recommending any future brides to go to golden thread.

Honestly I have never had much alterations done and now I'm not sure why. It was such an easy process and high quality work. I had them alter a dress that had straps that were way too long and I had them take it up a few inches. The dress was so much better after! Very happy that I found this place!

They did my wedding dress alterations and did an amazing job! They are small and family owned. They made the whole process very simple and seamless. My dress was a big ballgown and she hemmed it and added 5 bustles !! She even showed my mom how to add in a couple more bustles with safety pins to save us some extra cash. She also let out my dress. Overall a great experience - they times everything out so that they had my dress for many months before the wedding and I never had to store it which was a huge plus. Highly recommend and will be going back if I need alterations in the future !

The absolute best! I went to Golden Thread with last minute vacation needs and the team I worked with was friendly, incredibly customer-service oriented and reasonable. I loved the speedy and consistent communication. They even got my items done a day earlier then expected! When I got home and saw one of the items was not done the way I had hoped, they got me in the next day and fixed it within an hour. If you need alterations, please give them a call! I needed the straps of my bridesmaid dress to be deconstructed and repositioned. I called around to a few places to get my extra tall son's blazer sleeves lengthened for his 1st ever Homecoming dance. Woo from Golden Thread was by far the most personable and helpful of everyone I spoke with. The prices were competitive and the tailoring was excellent. What a great local place I found due to others yelps! My friends wedding that I am MOH in is next week but was pushed back 2 1/2 years due to Covid. I was in the constant mindset that I had plenty of time to get my alterations done on my dress due to it being pushed back three times and then freaked out when I realized the wedding was only two weeks away (in France)!! I called Golden Thread Alterations and they said they can have the alterations done with time to spare. Thankfully I also only needed to get the straps tightened to have the top part of the dress sit against my body right. I just picked it up today and it fits like a glove and you can't even tell any alterations we're made on the straps at all! On top of great alterations, their customer service is fantastic, they are super nice, and very accommodating! I've already dropped off two more items for them to alter! I have this long gown with intricate beading style that I plan to use for my daughter's wedding. I needed the hem to be shortened. The beads are placed in a linear way all around the tulle gown. To make the gown shorter, some beads at the bottom of the dress have to be removed then remaining beads reinforced/ hand stitched/ knotted on each end of the lines. This process is repeated around the dress which truly is time consuming. Ms. Kim did a great job and even the gown length turned out to be perfect! Really appreciate her patience . So grateful we found this place! And we got the gown back way earlier. Thanks!! read more

I had 8 new suits I needed for an event, so I took them to the Golden Thread Tailor to be altered. Woo and his family were wonderful, taking the time to make sure every hem and waist and arm length were perfect. i asked them to have them done in 10 days, and they called me 4 days early to let me know they were ready to pick up. I had just come from the gym when I picked them up so I let them know I would try them on as soon as I got showered. When I did try them on they were all perfect. Woo and his mom, Mrs Kim, saved my life! Their customer service is a breath of fresh air. I purchased a bridesmaid dress online and of course it doesn't fit with all the extra weight I gained from the pandemic. We discussed options and luckily when Mrs Kim opened up the seams, we were able to work with the extra fabric after all. She also helped me hem the dress as I'm short. Cute little shop in Downtown Livermore. I sent a message via yelp chat, and communicated what I needed, and the owner answered right away. She was able to accommodate my alteration same day or next day. I went in at 11am Sunday afternoon, and brought in 5 pants, and told her I needed only 1 same day, and the other 4, I could pick up in a week. She ended up getting all 5 pants done within the hour. Talk about quick service. Great customer service as well! I definitely recommend their services. They did a great job. You won't be disappointed! read more

He really knows what he is doing and takes the time to talk with you and collaborates with you on your wants and needs. He really takes his passion and art seriously. I can't say enough good things about this alteration shop! I've brought in three of my curtains for adjustments, and each time, they have exceeded my expectations. I have an extremely sharp eye for detail, and having perfectly straight hems was non-negotiable for me. When I explained this to the owner, they truly listened, took my request to heart, and delivered flawless results. Not only is their workmanship impeccable, but their customer service is also top-notch. Woo, the owner, was very responsive to all my questions and made sure to address any concerns I had. On top of that, they completed the job in a timely manner both times, which I really appreciated. This shop has earned my trust and respect--not just for the quality of their work but for the integrity they demonstrate in their business. Excellent place to get your suit altered. I had a suit jacket that needed some work on the sleeves, made slightly trickier by the fact it had functional buttons. Another (unnamed) tailor here in Livermore said it was not possible, so I brought it here instead. They did a fantastic job with the alterations and returned the suit jacket to me in just two days!
