My husband and I stopped in around 4pm on a Saturday for an early dinner after hiking at Staunton State Park and so happy we did! Golden Stix is very nicely decorated, impeccably clean, and wasn't busy. The ambiance was quiet and calm and service was excellent. We ordered a large hot and sour soup, Golden Stix Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The hot and sour soup has a nice peppered spice to it and lots of ingredients. The Golden Stix Chicken was absolutely a 10/10 would come back here just for that dish alone - the crispy juicy chicken in that sauce wow! The Mongolian Chicken was slightly too salty but after a good hike it was appreciated. This restaurant is a spot I would recommend to anyone looking for some tasty Asian food. The only thing I was shocked at was they didn't offer any chopsticks! Large portion sizes and very reasonable prices. Regardless, great place to grab a bite to eat and we will definitely be back! read more

I work in Conifer occasionally and I've been here twice and each time was excellent. The lunch combo is a great value, coming with your dish of choice, fried or steamed rice, cup of soup, eggroll, and a cream cheese wonton. I grew up in Conifer, and this was my favorite restaurant back then. Have since moved to Washington state, and this remains my favorite restaurant to this day. Can't find anything like it on the west coast. I travel to Conifer just for the sesame chicken and beef and broccoli. Service is amazing. Ambiance is peak. Faves include MooShoo Pork, Chicken Lo Mein, Pineapple Chicken, and you absolutely must CAREFULLY taste their in house homemade Hot Mustard! So SO good. This ain't Panda Express. Staff is super friendly and funny. Patrick and Luke are our favorite servers! They work hard and nonstop. Excellent teamwork between the wait staff and the kitchen. Meh, bland, under spiced food. The inside is really nice and the staff is wonderful but the ingredients taste stale and of poor quality. Even the rice tasted off. Ordered two spicy dishes, asked for extra hot, a 7 year old could have eaten it. I ate a red pepper whole, it was bland, tasted old and had no heat at all. Just disappointed, heard this restaurant had new management and cooks but this tasted more like American food than Chinese. Hopefully, they get it together. read more

Food/service were excellent, I had the garlic shrimp lunch special, but there was plenty of food (even for a big guy) soup was great with excellent deep chicken flavor, and the garlic shrimp was fantastic. I used to frequent here when I lived in the area about 10 years ago because I loved their food and even the faux meat. Was driving through and decided to stop by and learned it was recently purchased by a new family 2 1/2 months ago. They're very welcoming and their service was attentive! My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the expansion of the dining area and especially the portions. We ordered the Golden dinner for two which included soup (we had the combo wonton soup), the pu pu platter (I've never seen a presentation like it!), combo fried rice, and two entrees (we chose combo drunken noodles and combo Genera Tso's). Everything was delicious and we had plenty of leftovers! I also had the Thai tea. Highly recommend! I was very impressed with Golden Stix. I ordered the garlic beef lunch special and for $10.5 it was a great deal. The egg drop soup was excellent as was the entree and sides (egg roll and wonton). It was more food than I could finish. Normally I would expect a cheaper Chinese restaurant to have poor aesthetics, but it is very nicely decorated. The service was great as well. Went in here one night hoping to sit down and eat some Chinese food, keep in mind it was around 7, and we went in and their sitting area was already closed. At least they let us put an order in to eat. We ordered the low mein with beef, orange chicken and crab wontons. It was a little pricey, but I guess all Chinese is. The orange chicken was way too intense for me, maybe most orange chicken should taste exactly like an orange, but this was super tangy. Low mein was okay and wontons were just okay. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with their food and it's a bummer they are like the only Chinese place in conifer. Probably won't go back. read more

Many other reviews on here say the food isn't great, etc. but I think it's just as good as any other affordable Chinese takeout place around. It will always have a special place in my heart because they're food has been a part of great memories for me. Almost every time I visit my parents, I have to get some GS! This is a decent place for some Americanized Chinese food. It's got all the usual suspects such as orange chicken, sesame chicken, egg rolls, wonton soup, etc. We came here twice for their lunch special and at $8 per entree loaded with extras you just can't go wrong! We also received very good service both times! Sure it's not the most authentic Chinese food but we enjoyed all the good flavors in each dish especially the egg soup! So disappointing. Walked in to pick up our order and the restaurant was not very clean, including a clouded over fish tank. Got all the way home only to realize the food in the box was not our order. I called and was asked to return the order. When I walked in, the box I was carrying was handed right over to the rightful recipient who had been waiting for me to return and I was handed my correct order that had been sitting on the table for a good 40 min. We usually call in our order and knowing they seem to HATE giving the proper sauce, we ask for extra over the phone. Fine. Get there, pay, ask for more sauce and they say "yeah bro, I put that in there bro." Get home - no sauce. I get this is beyond first world problems but sauce isn't a difficult thing. Next are the random hours they are open and the energy of the people working there. It wasn't that long ago I served tables at restaurants but I tried to pretend I cared A LITTLE. They give ZERO F's. I definitely consider myself something of a foodie. I've spent a lot of time in this area, and have pretty much quit eating out because the restaurants are so bad. I mean REALLY bad, yet people rave about them. My take away from that is that, for the most part, people in this area are accustomed to bad food. They just don't know any better - and there's nothing wrong with that. I travel a lot and have been fortunate enough to eat in a lot of amazing places along the way. Maybe I'm just a spoiled diner. The point is, this place is GOOD. Not just "good for Chinese food," but very, very good. This was some of the best Chinese I've had anywhere. We had the dinner for two with General Tao's and the 7 garlic. The dinner comes with a very nice puupuu platter and soup. To say the portions are generous is an understatement - this was three meals worth of food for the two of us. The puupuus were excellent and nicely presented. The fried rice was fresh and the entrees were incredible. My General Tao's had exactly the right amount of heat - lots of flavor without being overwhelming. The 7 garlic had plenty of garlic flavor without overwhelming the veggies and protein. We ate there last night and I'm still raving about how good it was. In fact, I just finished my second plate of leftovers while writing this! I have no idea what the bad reviews are talking about. I can only imagine the other restaurants in the complex are jealous because their food is substandard (I'm not being mean, it absolutely is). Some reviewers mentioned they arrived to find the shop closed. The posted hours clearly state they are open until CLOSED. In restaurant parlance, that means they close when they don't have business, and they stay open as late as necessary when they do. I called ahead just to confirm the hours and if we should have a reservation and the server confirmed what I already assumed. We were there on a Friday night and the place was packed. Not one table stayed open for more than five minutes. The servers were very busy but also attentive and fast. The staff is very young and work very hard. Don't let those wacky reviews stop you from giving this place a try. Like I said, there is a good chance those reviewers just don't know any better. Bless their hearts. read more

We live in New Mexico, but have family in Pine, that we visit a couple times a year. Every time we're here we go to Golden Stix at least once. Their Hot and Sour soup is the best I've ever had. The flavor is just right spicy. We haven't found anything comparable in New Mexico. (Although our Mexican food can't be beat!) When we were here last summer, I even got two quart containers of Hot and Sour to take home with us. Yummm. Six of us went last night and most everything was delicious. I had a bowl of Hot and Sour and combination fried rice - excellent! The others has orange chicken, egg foo Yung, garlic beef, pati, and curry chicken. The only negative was from the person who had Pati (I don't even know what that is.) Everyone else loved their dinner. The waiter who served us is knowledgeable and friendly. It seems that he's always there. I'm sorry I don't know his name, but I believe he's the son of the owner. He always recognizes us even though we only get there a couple times each year which I think is remarkable. The prices are excellent for what you get. (All six of us had to go boxes to take home.) The restaurant is always clean and well decorated. All-in-all a great local family owned restaurant. read more

Inconsistent Chinese Food Pros -Options for dining in and take-out. Take out times are inconsistent, but generally pretty reasonable. Seating inside has plenty of space. -Large menu selection with reasonable prices. -There have been times when we have ordered Golden Stix and the food was really solid. The problem is that its not always the case. Cons -The food here is inconsistent - think of your favorite pizza place when certain pie makers are working. There is a noticeable difference from visit to visit and I am not sure why. -Meat quality tends to be pretty low and you find yourself asking - what type of meat is in here? For Chinese food though, this isn't the most out of the world thing to feel. -Hot and Sour & Egg Drop soup are not very good which is a shame because they are two of my favorite to order. Overall, Golden Stix is pretty on par for most restaurants in the Bailey/Conifer/Evergreen area. It will meet your Chinese food fix, but won't leave you craving for more immediately after. read more

Good food, bad service. Dined in 3 times. First time was great. Second time the waiter was catatonic. Third time was a busy Friday night. We were seated and it took 5-10 minutes to be greeted and get a glass of water. We were served our appetizers and soup 15 minutes after that. 50 minutes into being seated still no entre. Great experience at Golden Stix! We went to Golden Stix in Conifer last night to try the new owners/management out again and had a wonderful meal and great service. So glad to be able to say so. The hot & sour soup is now some of the best I've ever tasted; thick and flavorful. My wife's entree portion of Wonton soup was excellent as well, and better than it had been in the past. My entree was the Curry Chicken, and I could not have been more pleased. The Curry sauce was wonderful and even had a Thai Peanut kind of flavor to it, just outstanding. Our server was helpful with information about the recent changes, menu recommendations, and was very attentive. Overall, the best experience we have ever had at Golden Stix, and we will go back again soon! read more
