$10 Monday burger special. Filling and delicious!

Wanted to try this for a long time after seeing on local shows over the years. Finally went two weeks while in the area and again today. Can't say enough nice things about this place. From the food to the service, everything is great. The regulars in the bar treated me like I was long lost family and Nancy took great care of me both times.

PEPPER STEAK

This place has been here forever.. the original owner passed away and it was purchased by one of his servers so it's not skipped a beat. I have no idea why I never wrote a review on this spot as I have been many times. It's a straightforward steakhouse.. this place is no frills and you can come in dressed up or really casual. I would make a reservation and by phone only no on line and it's made clear on the website. The place is small and one side of the room is mirrored this place would do for a refresh but I think it being closed down would be a hindrance but oh well. It's all dark woods and some of the chairs are too hard. The other room is simply painted and has a bar area with an old school register.. for real. This bar makes all your drinks like Martinis (as most drink at a steakhouse) they have beer, wine and etc. Honestly you could see Anthony Bourdain sitting at the bar just hanging out having a drink and visiting with the patrons and them not even knowing who he was. The menu is full of your normal steak favorites and some fish, chicken and etc. With your meal you get a potato of your choice, salad and soup (either that famous French Onion) or whatever the soup of the day is. They do offer other vegetables to get and they have all sorts of apps to eat. If you leave this place hungry that's on you. The French Onion Soup has a following why the cheese topping that has been broiled to perfection. If you don't like cheese this is not for you. Unfortunately the actual Onion Soup and broth has little flavor the onions are perfectly cooked.. I don't know if it needs a touch more salt or umami. It's good just not great. We got the baked clams always a hit but again I wished the topping had a bit more flavor. Salads are a simple mix of iceberg, tomatoes, cucumbers and a house made crouton. For some reason the baked potatoes here are really good and get them with both the sour cream and butter. Pro tip ask for the butter and or Sour Cream on the side or both on the side. Instead of getting a bite of the baked potato you may get a fork of butter.. not a bad thing but the more you know. My husband got the Pepper Steak and I got Taki's Special. The Pepper Steak had peppers, onions and mushrooms in a sauce always good Taki's Special is basically medallions of filet cooked with olive oil, lemon and spices. All meats are cooked to your liking. They have wine and beer & etc but the list for wine is not huge. It's old school and everyone comes here. Parking if you can get it is right outside the door but it's limited, basically it's street parking. Enjoy

ROAST PRIME ROUND OF BEEF

Came here for Mother's Day. So glad we made reservations. They had our table available as soon as we arrived. The parking is hard as there isn't a parking lot. But we were lucky we found parking in front. The inside is pretty tight space. We had the table right by the counter. We squeezed in as close as we can so the staff could pass by back and forth. The service was good. The atmosphere was a bit loud and hard to have conversations. The meals came with soup and salad. The cream of chicken soup was good. The salad was iceberg with a couple of cucumbers and tomatoes. Everyone at the table ordered the prime rib. The kids split a rib eye. Which looked delicious and enough for two. The prime rib was good. However for the price it wasn't as big as a slice as I've had elsewhere. My mom got one with a bone so hers was a nice size.

Great service!!! Everything was perfect. The plates were all timed perfectly. Staff was attentive and the food was amazing! There special tonight was delicious! Will defiantly come back

Golden Steer's special of the night. Their T bone steak. Fantastic!

It's just not the same place it used to be. Too many "specials" and quality is suffering.

The restaurant has indoor seating and a patio that was really cute. We were treated like royalty. Our server was a joy! Our water glasses were regularly filled. We both started with cocktails that we enjoyed. They provide a focaccia bread with buttery olive oil and Parmesan spread that was yummy. We split multiple tapas to start. The scallops were outstanding. The flavor was delicious with a great texture. We also had the spicy potato and crab cake. Both were good portions for tapas. I enjoyed both. We then split the salmon dish special that was stuffed with shrimp. Perfection with spinach. We ordered the tiramisu and were given a complimentary passion fruit custard. I liked both equally. The tiramisu is made with a different type of soaked cookie and the passion fruit has an amazing flavor.

We got to try items that we had not had together before including the goat cheese and tomato sauce with the toasted bread. I personally loved the lamb which was very tender and fell off the bone. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They had a couple large groups that they were able to navigate with ease. They also provided a parting drink for everyone. Our Patas Bravas dish did come out a little late so we were not able to enjoy it as much since we were getting full, but it tasted heavenly with the dipping sauce. We had the absolute pleasure of having Bessie take care of us. When I tell you this woman sparkles! I'd give this place 5 stars for Bessie alone. She is an absolute sweetheart. Gave us some great recommendations for drinks, and kept us laughing all night. Food was phenomenal. Started off with the saganaki and the shrimp dejonge appetizers. What is about saganaki that turns a normal dinner into an event? Both apps were yummy. My prime rib was perfectly cooked. The added touch of au jus on the meat was perfection. My husband had the medallions Oscar. So amazing. Definitely in the top 5 dinners I've ever had. We didn't save room for dessert, but this just means we'll have to go back. We were visiting the area for business and had rented an Airbnb located nearby. During our visit to your establishment, we felt that we were unfairly stereotyped and treated as though we were involved in stealing money from a slot machine. We found the assumptions and treatment extremely disrespectful and uncomfortable. We were legitimate customers who were in the area for business and had every intention of enjoying our visit. At no point should customers be made to feel as though they are being singled out or accused of wrongdoing based on assumptions or stereotypes. If your staff had a legitimate concern regarding something that occurred, we believe it should have been handled professionally, respectfully, and based on facts rather than assumptions. Being treated as suspicious without being given a fair opportunity to explain ourselves was upsetting and made us feel unwelcome. I am requesting that management review what occurred, speak with the employees involved, and take appropriate steps to ensure that other customers are not treated this way. I would also appreciate a response explaining how this situation will be addressed. We chose to patronize your establishment while we were in the area for business, and we expected to be treated with the same respect as any other customer.

I decided to check out this place for a weekday dinner WITHOUT reservations. I knew that having…read morereservations would make dining easier but I didn't plan in advance. I arrived around 6PM for a table, I was told I could go to the bar for bar seating or get my name on the list and wait. So I went to the bar but surprisingly, there were couple other parties waiting at the bar for a seating too. We actually waited about 45 minutes at the bar for seating, and then I received a text an hour later that a table would be ready. Since I was already seated at the bar, I kept my bar seating and forgo the table. So you might be able to get a table seating if you get your name on the list for a weekday dinner. I have to admit this place felt very dim, it feels darker - I supposed that tis the ambiance of a nicer, upscale restaurant. However, I have to admit they are laxed on the dress code. I don't actually know if there's a dress code although a lot of people are in more business casual/dressy attire. I wasn't in anything dressy though and no one said anything. As for the food, I think it is delicious. So we ordered 2 different steak dishes - the bone in aged rib eye and the steak & frites. I love the pairing salt that comes with it, it really tops it off for the steaks. We also ordered sides -- sides do not come with the steaks, they are purchased separately. However, the creamed spinach and the truffle mac and cheese were amazingly delicious. I still remembered the deliciousness as I am writing this review. The sides definitely tops it off. I think they do an excellent job cooking the steak, I love that they already cut it perfectly for me. This is an excellent steak place, great sides. It can get a little busy/crowded, but service is also pretty good. I think the staff does a good job overall given the craziness of this place. It seems like it is always packed. I see people in their "work attire" come here for drinks too and possibly for a bite to eat. I would definitely recommend this place to others -- if you don't want to wait for a table, plan ahead and book a reservation ahead of time. But this place is "casual" enough for you to stop in to grab some food if you're willing to wait.

We came for walk in at 4 and were told we could sit at the bar immediately or wait for a table. We chose to wait for a table because we weren't fully hungry yet, and got a callback at 5, perfect for us. We ordered the sourdough, crab avocado salad, dry aged ribeye, fried chicken, and mac and cheese. Sourdough: 10/10- ate the entire loaf before we even got the appetizers. Salad: 10/10- amazing flavor and unique. We usually never order salad but this sounded so unique and didn't disappoint - creamy, acidic, perfect appetizer. Fried Chicken: 8/10- above average fried chicken on mashed potatoes. Well spiced but nothing to write home about. Ribeye: 10/10- great steak and honestly not bad pricing. Great crust and flavor, would definitely recommend to split for 2 since it's big. Mac and Cheese: 4/10- pasta was not hot and was undercooked. I usually like al dente but this pasta was hard. It was barely cheesy and was like a alfredo sauce more than cheesy, and the crust on top was lukewarm and stagnant like it had been sitting there. Overall great experience but avoid the mac and cheese.

VIBE: The dining room was large and rather dim, with dark wood tones. We were glad to have a window table for more light. I cannot recall if there was music playing, so that says something. It was not busy, so noise from other tables was minimal. SERVICE: our server, David, was cordial and attentive. Food was comfortably coursed and arrived at a timely pace. FOOD: We enjoyed everything. The Hoja Santa salad was fresh and delicious, with an interesting mix of ingredients. Ditto the Bruselas, highlighted by a tangy tamarind-anise glaze. The Pescado big plate was highlighted by perfectly-cooked shrimp and a tasty sauce; accompanying sea bass was OK. Wine-wise, the Incognito red blend and the Santo Tomas were inoffensive but dull (and overpriced). We enjoyed our visit, and are looking forward to returning (and hopefully enjoying better wine). @
