Three months waiting for an estimate that never arrives…read more I contacted Bay Area Window Pros at the end of April 2026 regarding six 12-year-old Milgard aluminum windows whose seals had failed, causing the glass to become cloudy. I also wanted to replace one window with a new casement model and later added two patio doors to the requested estimate, providing preliminary measurements that simply needed to be confirmed before ordering. Their salesperson, Marcus, came out on May 2. He casually informed me that Bay Area Window Pros does not repair windows and claimed it would be more cost-effective to replace them entirely. I explained that the aluminum frames were perfectly serviceable and that only portions of the windows needed repair, so complete replacement made little sense. Nevertheless, I eventually agreed to receive an estimate for full replacement. It is now August 5, more than three months later, and I am still waiting. I have repeatedly spoken and emailed with Nate, who continually assures me that the estimate will arrive at the "top of next week." What does that even mean? More importantly, how many "next weeks" are customers expected to wait before concluding that this company is either incapable of producing a basic estimate or simply has no respect for their time? If Bay Area Window Pros did not want the project, they could have said so months ago. Instead, they wasted my time with repeated promises they had no apparent intention of keeping. Based on my experience, their communication, follow-through, and basic professionalism are abysmal. I would not trust a company that cannot produce an estimate in three months to order, install, or stand behind thousands of dollars' worth of windows and doors.

Replacing condo windows on a busy boulevard in San Francisco is complex with many moving parts. I gathered quotes from (4) window companies comparing apples to apples after reading every review. What the other companies did not disclose was the complexity of installing fire rate windows except for Deluxe Window. Felix is not just a salesman but one with decades of knowledge and experience in the field. Felix disclosed that I would need scaffolding to install (3) fire rated windows and that the custom order would take 16 weeks for build. Also, that I would need written permission from my neighbor to add the scaffolds to reach my unit on the fourth floor. I appreciated the honesty with potential road blocks that can be resolved and dealt with early on in the project with open communication. None of the other companies that came out to quote me disclosed this information. Deluxe estimates were in line and comparable. Throughout the project, I was in constant communication with Darja who sent email outlining steps to guide me through the process from billing, materials, deadlines and installation. 16 weeks sounds like a long time to build windows but Fyre Tec windows are quality worth the wait. I also went with Anlin single hung windows for the ease of cleaning and life time warranty transfers. My installation took three days to complete with installer George paying close attention to details in water proofing, sealant, foam installation, caulking and trimming the frames. The City Building Inspector signed off to continue work and the second appointment to get final sign off of the permit went through without a hitch. The project was work but Deluxe Windows and the company's competent staff mentioned above help make this into a successful work in progress to final completion. The Deluxe staff were there to answer every and all of my questions. The windows look fabulous and sound proofing has helped minimize the busy street noise.

It's funny, as they say everything can be realized in comparison, and it's certainly true. I have recently had to change out my HVAC, two AC units, two coils and furnaces... Everything that could have gone wrong with that experience did. They overpromised and underdelivered, with change orders and price that was well above the quote... Over the years, I have done various things for the home, but no other company stood out enough for me to go out of my way to provide an opinion. With Deluxe Windows, the experience felt right from the first call. I went on Google searched for a few places, but liked their website. It was clean, informational, and showed starting prices, which was not the case with many others, leaving you wondering what you are getting yourself into... I called and got Yanek on the phone, who happened to be one of the owners. I loved that I got a person on the phone who knew something about the product and service, rather than getting the "lead farm" experience, where you call and they get your info, and sell it to the highest bidder, often selling it to a service who might have bad reviews and iffy at best. I had explained to Yanek what I was looking for, and within 5 minutes, had received more information about my own patio doors that I was trying to replace, then I had know to date. I had found out that I had Aluminum Doors, (not something I knew of the bat), I had found out that there are numerous manufacturers, but not all produce Aluminum. I had not replaced windows in my home since I had purchased it, which are still in decent shape, but the patio doors, being in high use, gave out over time. Locks and hinges were broken, seals were broken, screens were barely staying on rollers. I needed 6 new doors, but wanted them to match what I currently had. Felix provide me with a couple of brands, right over the phone that I should research, on their site, which I did, which allowed me to be more informed for when he was going to come to my house to measure the doors and provide an estimate. I had scheduled a free in home estimate, which went like a breeze. Felix had arrived on time, and spent 15 minutes measuring the the doors. As it turns out, something I did not really know, most windows and doors do not come in standard sizes and generally are made to order. Next day, I received a written estimate for Milgard Aluminum doors. Milgard is a great brand as I found out after doing research, and I wanted to install something that would have a great warranty and something that would last. I had then called another company and had gotten another Estimate that was a bit higher than that of DW. Of course I had also negotiated a bit with Yanek, and got a bit more of a better deal, and had decided to go with them. Doors were ordered, took couple weeks. Got permits and scheduled the install. The installation guys were super knowledgeable, efficient, and did a great job. One day and all 6 doors were installed. Second day, they did the trim and I was done. All in all, super professional service, highly knowledgeable and great value! Couldn't recommend it more.

Communication through the whole process was also easy. Final quote after a visit to double check measurements (which was easy to schedule, and didn't take long) was super reasonable. An installation happened quickly, only about 24 hours after I got a call that the parts were in. Would definitely use their services again.

He listened patiently, acknowledged that the warranty language was unclear, apologized for the office's communication and billing process, issued me a full refund, and told me they will improve both the warranty language and their internal process. I truly appreciate his willingness to listen, take responsibility, and make things right. For context, my original concerns were these: After spending $64,000 on a window and door replacement project, two sliding doors became increasingly difficult to close after the 2023 installation. By 2026, they could no longer be closed and locked properly. I contacted Palo Alto Glass because I believed they had not been properly adjusted during installation. I was initially told the adjustment would cost $585 and that I needed to provide a credit card before the appointment. After I explained that I believed this was an installation issue rather than normal wear and tear, Palo Alto Glass agreed to have the technicians inspect the doors first. The technicians came on July 8, and the repair itself took only a few minutes by adjusting the lock plates. However, before performing the work, no one told me that Palo Alto Glass had concluded the issue was my responsibility or that the $585 charge would apply. I only learned that after the work had been completed, when I received the invoice the following day. I was also disappointed by the warranty language. The contract states that "all necessary materials and labor are covered under this warranty," but I was later told that the 10-year warranty only applies to insulated glass and that labor is covered for just one year. I believe that distinction should be stated much more clearly in the contract. To be fair, I was generally satisfied with the workmanship. The original installation was well done, and the technicians who performed the adjustment were professional and courteous. My frustration was entirely with the office's handling of the warranty, communication, scheduling, and billing process--not with the people doing the actual work. It's also worth noting that a 10-year warranty is well above the industry standard if it is honored properly and the scope of the coverage is communicated clearly upfront. That level of coverage can be a real advantage, but customers should not have to infer important limitations from the title of the warranty section. I still believe these issues could have been handled much better, but I also believe companies should be judged by how they respond when something goes wrong. Bill never became defensive. Instead, he listened carefully, acknowledged where the process had failed, and explained how they plan to improve both the warranty language and their internal communication. That conversation changed my impression of the company. Thank you, Bill, for taking the time to call me, for treating my feedback with respect, and for making things right. Alex was also very thorough and took the time to go over instructions with me so I can keep the screen in great shape for years. The work was excellent, the house looks great and the cost, while on the higher end of the 5 bids I got, was fair, particularly considering the quality of the work, outstanding experience with the crews and a few small extras that they included without tacking on change orders. A few specific things I'd highlight: * Chris (principal) was great to work with and our interaction was what really sold me on going with AHR in the first place. Clear, professional, incredibly thorough and detailed on the estimate, and when talking through the scope of the project. * Keith (the PM on the job) was always in touch, great about providing updates on progress, was VERY responsive when I had questions and was great about following up after the product to make sure things were cleaned up and the debris box was picked up in a timely manner. He also handled coordination with the electrician and the city on inspections/permitting. * The crews were super nice, courteous to my family, did exceptional work and didn't leave a bunch of trash and debris all over the place (which I've often dealt with in the past with other companies) * Chris asked the crew to "give some love" to our front/back doors since the original remodel crew 7 years ago, did a crappy job hanging them and they were constantly sticking/hitting the frame. They rehung both doors at no charge and now they are so much better! * They finished 3 DAYS EARLY. When was the last time that happened on a construction project??!? Great group, across the board.
