The showroom and sales process were great. The windows took 4 or 5 months longer to arrive than expected. The HUGE problem was the installation. Interior caulking was supposed to be included. It was only done on 2 windows out of 11, and it was done with wrong material because it is sticky, and they got a lot of sawdust stuck in it. Screens were supposed to be installed. The installers did not install ANY of the screens. I called back and asked them to return to fix this at least 4 times. They always promise to come fix and they never do. I am tired of waiting so I got another quote to install the screens. Its going to cost me $150 per screen. Please make this right! read more

I recently moved into a new home in the area and needed to replace the single pane windows. Felix was extremely knowledgeable about the area and working with our HOA. My husband and I were able to stop by the showroom where Felix took COVID safety protocols very seriously. The quoting, drafting, and ordering process was so seamless and the staff is responsive with questions, amendments, and addendums that we needed to make to our initial contract. Our windows are very beautiful, and the team was very accommodating given our worries about Covid. We remained in another part of the house and the team had our cell numbers to call if we needed to come out and look at anything (all masked up). There were a few little dings in out windowsill that were there when the team left, and we were worried about that. They asked us to provide an estimate for what the repairs would cost, our handyman provided his estimate, and they reimbursed us for the damage caused, no problem. Just wanted to provide an update - I was really surprised it's been over nine years since my window install!..lol...crazy how time flies. In any event, I am happy to report that I have not had one issue with my windows or the installation...no air leaks or cracks and it still looks and feels like I have new windows. My big slider that goes to the backyard works great, and to think I open it at least 5-6 times a day...multiply that by nine years and we are talking around 20,000 times (!)...and all I have done is vacuum the little sliding area every once in a while. What made me think to update the review is that I just needed to remove my bathroom window screen (in order to run a hose through the opening), and the screen popped out perfectly and went back in perfectly. He encouraged us to visit the showroom where we met the owner... who was equally helpful. After a follow up meeting with Dan, we felt very confident with everyone's professionalism and the look and feel of the windows we chose (Simontin brand). Someone came to our house to take final measurements and took great care in examining our window frames and surrounding objects inside and outside the house. He carefully marked our window frames to make sure the installation was done well. The six new windows were installed today and they look great. The installation crew did a very clean job. Writing this review more than a year after our window installation to thank the owner of the business, Felix. We installed 7 windows with them and one window turned out to be a faulty initial installation. Unfortunately the owner was away at the time and was not made aware of the issue i had reported to his staff. As a result we initially experienced a slow response. Once the owner found out about the problem he came over himself, ordered a new frame and had the window re-installed under his supervision (at no extra cost to us). The building inspector came to inspect the six (6) windows I recently replaced. She complimented the workmanship, and asked me who did the work. Nice!! Yes, the new Marvin windows are beautiful and I love them. For whatever reasons, windows are expensive so I had to replace them a few at a time throughout my house. And after 30 years, I was finally ready to replace the big and expensive living room windows and three smaller ones on the ground floor which was put in place when the house was built in 1932. I yelped and called a few companies and received three estimates. At the end I decided to go with Bay Area Window Pros (BAWP) and I am so glad that I did. Felix was a pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end. He was professional, honest, friendly, not pushy or tried to take shortcuts ( no permit, partial tempered glasses) like the other sales reps. Felix also was willing with work with me on the pricing so that the project could be done within my budget. The day of the installation, Felix stop by to make sure that everything was on track. His crew led by Hector was on time, efficient, precise and got the windows installed in a day. We ordered the Marvin Elevate Wood Ultrex and it's a great product and they served as a great dealer for the windows. We had a great experience with Bay Area Window Pros. Starting with Felix B. who was was our initial contact. We explained that we have a strict HOA who was very specific in how windows were to be placed and required a bunch of documents completed before approval of project. Felix said this was not an issue since their company has dealt with HOAs before and quite familiar with paperwork requirements and their process. True to his word, in the office were Xiara L. and Ashley O. to take care of all of our HOA paperwork. By email, they responded to all questions usually within moments of emailing. They knew how to handle each piece of document requested by HOA. I was amazed at their efficiency - everything went smoothly. We were on a bit of a timeline, with our first child along the way, and Felix was more than accommodating of our schedule, installing the windows in our baby's room before she arrived. (Thank you, Felix!) We found having a physical showroom to be a huge advantage. The workers were professional; the worksmanship was excellent; and they took care of everything but scheduling the final inspection and some minor repainting that had to happen on the window frames (which they were upfront about before we signed the contract). Everyone seems to love these guys. Our experience was...okay. I'd say, "meh," but I've never had windows installed before. So maybe my experience was relatively great. I don't know. I've had some months to reflect on my experience, so I figured I'd write this review since I'm still irritated. Felix is very helpful, and the extensive showroom is a huge help. I was sort of surprised when I started looking for new windows -- other window installation places I checked out seemed surprised that I wanted to actually touch and handle samples of the windows they rep. Some of them didn't even have samples available. I'm assuming they mostly cater to contractors? Whatever. Bay Area Window Pros was far and away the easiest to deal with during the sales process, and their quotes were absolutely reasonable. That being said, I feel like we got forgotten once we handed over the deposit. Around the time the windows were supposed to arrive, I called Felix because I hadn't heard from them. Apparently the windows were running late -- about a month and a half late. That put the installation into direct conflict with a major renovation project we had scheduled. read more

We had most of the old windows on our Woodside house retrofit replaced by Bay Area window pros. I was impressed with the price and had a good experience with the process until installation. At installation there were some issues with the cleanup. Initially I had trouble getting the attention of the office staff, but eventually Felix got involved and the team came back out to clean up and make sure things were right. This could have been better, and initially I thought I should leave a 4 star rating. But in the end: 1. We got a great price (at least thousands less than two other places we looked at, and others have been impressed with what we paid) 2. BAWP has an extensive selection of material in their show room that allowed us to get a sense of what we were buying, and Felix truly does have standout knowledge relative to other outfits we visited. 3. Our two unit condo used Bay Area Window Pros to replace all the front windows in our place. That was 2.5 years ago and we couldn't be happier with the windows. Today, I just booked another appointment with Felix to change our rear windows. BAWP is knowledgeable, honest and efficient. They sketch out all the options and challenges for each type of window including permitting and possible building modification. Felix won't let you spend money on expensive types of windows where it doesn't make sense. They even brought samples of the different windows to our house so we could see how the looked and operated. Bay Area Window Pros replaced 13 windows in our 100-year old San Francisco home. Our heating bill had doubled over the last 10 years and we could feel draughts throughout the house. We picked this company over two good companies (they were not the low bid) because they were the most professional, were most organized, took care of the plans for the building inspection for you, had a vast selection of materials and finishes for you to select from, and working drawings that they put together so that you could see what your finished windows would look like when manufactured--no guess work. Also, they had all of the costs carefully itemized for you and a detailed manufacturing and installation schedule estimated. Bill Walsh came out to do the initial measures and bid--which is not inexpensive because they use the best manufacturers. Then Alex came out to do the detailed measures. They are very good about scheduling the actual installation to fit your personal schedule. Ashley is always available in the office and she also uses email correctly so you have access to someone essentially anytime you need them--they are very, very responsive. You never need to chase after them. Extremely accommodating company. Special thanks to the two craftsmen that did the installation of our custom manufactured: they were amazing! George and Malhaz. Both worked tirelessly and cleaned as they went so there were no wood chips or sawdust or screws scattered in the home--they were spotless, always using drop clothes and vacuums as they progressed. Absolutely beautiful work. In two days everything was installed, including the screens and, additionally, they showed us how to correctly operate the hardware, etc. Very, very professional. If we have more work done here we will insist that George and Malhaz come to the house. Finally, the company will return to make sure that everything is working properly after a period of time. Update 7/23/13: Received a voicemail from BAWP wanting to discuss my Yelp review. While I have not returned the call, as it happens, the rep from the other window company came out to the house this morning to perform final measurements. Yesterday's voicemail had me wondering if my review had been too harsh, so I showed him the BAWP quote and asked his opinion. He called it "outrageous" and said that the company was trying to "make bank" on me. I asked about the price differential between Milgard WoodClad and Jeld-Wen, and he said Milgard is somewhat more expensive, but not anywhere in the neighborhood of 300%. I have to admit that I already felt like a bit of a horse's rear end for not immediately recognizing this quote was too high, but now even more so. The voicemail makes me wonder if BAWP is calling everyone that writes a less-than-stellar review and talking them down. It might explain why my experience was so different than what's been expressed by others here. ________________________ I don't really know what to make of this place. On the one hand, I liked the guy who came out to look at our home and who prepared our quote. Even more importantly, this place has fabulous Yelp reviews. I figured BAWP must be top-notch in all respects in order to garner all these reviews. Where they seem somewhat less than top-notch, to me, is in their pricing. When I got the quote and showed it to our general contractor, he actually laughed. Out loud. He then took me over the hill to Santa Cruz to meet his window guy. Quote from Santa Cruz window guy is roughly 1/4 of what BAWP quoted me (see attached photos of the two quotes). Now, bear in mind that BAWP's quote includes installation, while Santa Cruz window guy has not included installation. In addition, we have moved away from Milgard's WoodClad product to Jeld-Wen's metal-clad wood windows. So it's not exactly apples to apples. However, we're talking about a HUGE price differential. Also, the BAWP quote included a few non-installed windows, and the price differential was still vast (with no installation in either quote, BAWP is only 3x the other quote, instead of 4x). I don't really think that the difference between Jeld-Wen and Milgard is big enough to warrant that large a price gap. The long and the short of it is we've decided not to go with BAWP. My advice is to definitely do your homework if you're in the market for new windows. read more

Couple years ago I was looking to get all new windows for my dad's house in Daly City. I did some research and met with plenty of companies who gave me a sort of quotes. When Felix arrived he measured all the windows then had me go down to this show room in Burlingame to check out all the brand and styles he offered. He knew i had a budget and was willing to work with me. Total I had 10 windows and a big sliding glass door replaced. It took them a whole day to install all the windows and they did a TERRIFIC job. They cleaned up after themselves and dumped all the old windows. I was and still am extremely please with the outcome. Even years later the windows are still beautiful! So I've recently just got married and the hubby and I also bought a house in Daly City. Since it was a bank owned it needed some serious work. On the top of my list was new windows...Of course was pretty set on using Felix again. We just hoped his prices had not increased too much since the last time. This project was a little more difficult the way the old windows were installed it seemed harder to just pull them out. Felix had to send his uncle out to help diagnose the situation. After about 4 or so visits he finally figured out a solution. A week before we left Hawaii for our wedding we had him order our window and he told us not to worry and that he would call us when everything is set to be installed. On the day of: Two workers came around 8:30am and ended up staying till 7pm! They worked the whole day until all the windows were replaced. We even had this ugly garden window box thing in our kitchen and they managed to build a frame around it and seal it up tightly. It looks fabulous...all our windows look fabulous. The best thing too is that the Simonton windows we chose had a tax rebate that comes along with it. So it was an additional $1500 back!! We no doubt will always go back to Bay Area Window Pros if we need more windows. GREAT job and BEST window company!! read more

It took me about 3 months to make a decision of whether to change my windows. Felix always followed up with me in prompt time, in a responsible way (as opposed to sleezy sales pressure). I never felt pressured to go with a specific brand. I felt as if I was quite picky and actually difficult to deal with at times. But Felix always made suggestions as to what would be best for MY home. The great thing about dealing with a family-owned business, is that they are willing to make sacrifices to obtain your business. This meant for me, the best price BY FAR (less than half) of others. In addition, they included extra 'bells and whistles' for no additional cost. They didn't even call to tell me "Hey, by they way, we added this and this and this."..he wasn't looking for validation, he just DID it. Two installers came, did the job in 90*+ heat and finished in an efficient time. All my neighbors have complimented me on my new windows. This place was the only one who I got a call back from in less than 30 minuets. Two others called me back days later and the other two never called me back at all. Anyhow, I decided to go back to them for the rest of the window replacement in the house. They came yesterday and installed all the windows in a day. I love this family-owned business. Everything went smoothly and efficiently, from ordering to installation and even a minor warranty issue (manufacturer problem, not this company). They aren't touchy-feely but they get things done and make sure you're a happy customer. I wanted to replace my deteriorating drafty single-pane windows, but I was worried about being able to retain the quality & original look of my 1920's house, worried about being scammed, worried about the costs. Luckily Bay Area Window Pros were wonderful in being honest, skilled, and very reasonably priced. Felix and the installation team were great! The job was done efficiently and well. For example, my window frames weren't squared, given the shifting an older house does, but the installers got every window level & fitting tight. The windows sit perfectly and the finishing trim is beautiful. I'm very happy with the quality of their work. Even the city inspector, who has seen hundreds of window installations, was impressed with the quality of BA Window Pros' work. One bump in the road was getting the right windows from Milgard, no fault of Window Pros. Milgard initially sent the wrong windows. I phoned Felix when I saw the wrong window and Felix immediately worked on the problem. He got BAWP to my house within an hour to check the windows, check the original order, etc., and then Felix got after Milgard do express work. (Although Milgard Co. caused a delay, I would probably select Milgard fiberglass frames again because they look so good, are low-maintenance, i.e. no dryrot--important in my damp neighborhood, and have a lifetime guarantee.) I'm really glad I had BAWP do the job. In the past I've been dissatisfied with some of the less-than-perfect jobs other contractors have done, e.g. things not fitting quite right, etc. Also, prior to contacting BAWP I had contacted another window company that a friend used. That company sent out a rep who came, spent time taking measurements, etc. but didn't follow up the way Felix did. Geez. If a business can't follow up to GET my business, I wonder if that business would follow-up to KEEP my business. Luckily I picked BAWP. I really appreciate how Felix was always very responsive, e.g. quickly returning my calls, seeing that the work was completed to my satisfaction. We had a very interesting situation of which the previous owners of our home, of which told us that the windows were just done for some insane amount from a recent remodel, completely lied! Honestly at this point I was infuriated and began to imagine how much the replacement and repair would cost me for our 3 bedroom home. On to the better part of my story. I called into Bay Area Window Pro's and happened to reach one of the owners. He was possibly the most knowledgeable and easy going individual that I have ever dealt with, at least when speaking of windows. The owner gave me peace of mind by coming out to take a look and promising to take care of me and my home. Prior to calling in I had done my own research online and found out that the previous owners really went down the cheap (Lets just make it look good) route, instead of putting in a quality product that would last. The owner worked with me and gave me a few options that would fit my budget and give me quality and peace of mind knowing that the windows would last for a while; wow that was a burden off my shoulders. Honestly, I could go on and on about how much I despise the previous owners and the problems they have caused me, but the bottom line is that the owners of this great company truly do care about the customer. They are honest and 100% believe in customer service. Minus the few negative reviews I have read, of which may even be rare cases, I had a positive experience and will recommend this company to those that I come across that, hopefully are not going through what I went through, but may need a helping hand. read more

Needed to replace 9 exterior windows + 1 door earlier this year. Had talked with Andersen Renewal - product looked great but was expensive. For a second opinion, called Bay Area Window Pros (after looking on Yelp and seeing great reviews). Vadim came out to meet with us. He was extremely patient, thorough, and thoughtful - and his price estimate was reasonable. We actually took over 6 months to get started with the project - but called Vadim back when we were ready, met with him again, and were pleased to see that the cost estimate had not changed. So we held our breath and decided to go forward! A couple of weeks later, the windows were ready, and Felix contacted us to set up the install. Vladimir was our installer. To our surprise and delight, the whole install took only one day (!). The installation looked great. Vladimir even painted/touched up a couple of areas that needed it, and he and associate cleaned everything up - it was as if they hadn't even come. At the end of the day, I did an inspection. We found that two window screens needed some minor repairs. Vladimir was able to fix one immediately, and for the other screen, he told me that he would ask the office to order a new one. Without any follow up by me/any prompting, we received a new screen from the manufacturer within about two weeks. It fit perfectly. I was very pleased that everything was taken care of - without me even needing to ask. It's been about a year since I had my windows installed. I wanted to write my review during the winter to see if having double paned windows really helped on keeping the cold out. Even though this winter has been relatively warm, there have been some really chilly night in early December. We nearly froze to death in the house and having our windows updated probably helped a little but not significantly enough to have made a difference. The vinyl windows in the back of the house work great; I have no issues with them. The front of the house, according to SF laws, have to be wood. They have to be treated by the customer with a water seal so they don't develop mold. I went out and bought some sealant, applied a coat, sanded, applied another coat. After applying the first coat I realized how stupid this was sealing the wood AFTER the windows were installed. It would have made much more sense to have this applied before all of the hardware was attached to the frame. I understand this gives the customer freedom to choose what color they want to paint the frame but there should be an option to have it done prior. I was also under the impression that there wouldn't be any water condensation build up on the windows. I had that problem with my old single pane windows and made sure to specifically ask that question. I haven't notice it happening in the back of the house but in the front, with the wood windows I have noticed it significantly. My bedroom windows actually started to mold a little and I had to retreat them again. Otherwise the initial experience was pleasant. Felix made the process easy and made great suggestions. Customer service was great and even our building inspector who came by after to check the work said this is a good company. I love the way our windows push out and look a little different then the other ones in my neighborhood. read more

I wanted to write an update since my family was so happy with them. We have had a number of contractors this year work on our house and by far Bay Area Windows Pros is our favorite. I found them on Yelp and as mentioned in my earlier review, we received a number of bids and they were the most reasonable by far (out of 5 bids). No cheesy up selling, no slimy change orders or hidden costs. In fact, he undersold us from what we originally was going to order. They were professional, helpful, and had a high attention to detail.
