Probably one of the worst places I got indoor pre-hung doors from. The order process was tedious as the sales rep would suddenly stop responding to emails and I would need to follow up multiple times. Even communication with the warehouse was like this. I revived 4 doors and they were in terrible condition. All of the doors I got had some cosmetic issue. They were either scratched, dented, or had black streaks over them. They did take the doors back to "resolve" the issue. Even gave the excuse that the doors are "unfinished" so it's expected they look like that. I don't buy that, when the doors and frames have actual missing material due to damage, I don't consider that "unfinished", I consider that damaged. They then proceeded to gas light me saying that the doors had no issues when I clearly had pictures sent in emails. I got the doors back in a slightly better condition but I'm pretty sure they just sprayed the problem spots with primer and did wood filling and didn't actually redo the frames. One of the frames still had a crack that wasn't fixed, but I honestly had it with dealing with this company. And when installing the doors, there were more problems as we realized some of the hinges weren't properly set, causing the doors to skew. Super lazy craftsmanship all over. When they say craftsmanship is dying, it actually is. There's no quality control at all. Buyer beware, do NOT buy from this place. read more

We had purchased windows in the past from dolan but our contractor lead the way and guided our decision . This time we wanted to replace 10 windows that are original to our 1939 house. since Dolan carries several brands it seemed like a good place to start. We were very fortunate to have Sam as our salesman. He was super knowledgeable and patient with us. I never write ratings, because what's a drop in the pond of ratings. But damn, if I could give this spot a negative star, or perhaps that specific sales person. I have truly never met such an arrogant, condescending, and curt individual at a speciality store in the Bay Area. I took my Asian-immigrant mother there May 24, 2024 around 2PM to explore doors. Their selection is pretty good, and the presentation is professional. He immediately gave my mother a disdained lookover, and was extremely curt from the get-go. She asked if she could get help looking at door recommendations for fiberglass external entry doors, and he silently slowly walks over the front where the door slides are presented. He replied, they only have one and in one style. When she asked if it would be possible to get a different style , just a shake of the head in a reply and silence. She asks if another manufacturer they have could do it, and gets a stern no. He (I assume aware of how condescending he's being), then begrudgingly forces himself to reply "what kind of wood would you like this in?", my mother replies "exterior". He then more slowly and sternly as if to a toddler, rolling his eyes, repeats "What kind of wood would you like this in?". My mother replies, "for exterior". As he sucks in his breath to belabor it a third time, even though my mother is clearly inexperienced with specifications of doors materials, I interject and explain it to her in Chinese. He clearly did not want to spend any effort explaining it to her, for which I cannot discern if out of racism, arrogance, or both. I patiently ask him, what types of wood do they have? To which he now kinder BUT NOT KINDLY, says all kinds and brings out a plastic box. So I make the small talk again of "wow that's a lot of wood" and he responds "yea, that's why I asked" matter of factly. I help translate between the two, because he evidently doesn't want to help my mom. When she directly asks him the price comparison of two woods, after a few unbearable minutes at his desk he FINALLY asks what the use case is for. Maybe this question should have been the first question to ask? Though, he clearly didn't give a f**k. I tell him it's for an exterior garage entry door in San Francisco, and he blank and matter-of-factly responds "I'll tell you it won't weather well". So I tell my mom, it's exactly what I told her already, and she declines to move forward cus she's already upset by his mannerisms. Mannerisms, so bad that I can't even help remediate for. He lets out a deep sigh, and I tell my mom it's okay to leave, as I hobble out with my cane. My takeaways are this. 1. Never got the serviceman's name, never introduced themselves. 2. This serviceman, evidently not a salesman of any skill, is condescending, arrogant, and racist. 3. If he deems you aren't worth his effort or energy, you may as well leave instead of hoping for more help, elaboration, or lending any form of expertise. I kept my mouth shut to observe this sale, to see if I wanted to commit to the 6 other doors I needed to buy for my own renovations. I chose to look for local shops in the Bay Area to support local businesses and figured their customer service would be better and more available, but looks like Home Depot and Lowe's are better options than this. They ultimately carry the same suppliers anyway and will be cheaper. Typically big box stores have worse customer service than small local distributors, but evidently, any customer service is better than dogsh*t customer service. Better than racist, ableist customer service. It's not like it takes higher education in STEM to resell doors. The least you can be is an honest, humble, welcoming person to any prospective customers, who actually took the time drive over and communicate in person. Espescially in the Bay Area. Tl;dr go to any other door store in the Bay Area. They aren't worth your breathe and energy. Western door companies don't have too many differences between their product styles. If you want North American manufactured doors anyways, may as well go to Home Depot/Lowe's. They all buy from the same manufactures. If you want more interesting door options look into Asian companies to import doors instead. A lot of more interesting modern styles are white labeled and sold with a huge markup from asia anyways. For Dolan, I'm sorry this service person is ruining your reputation and sales like this with their incompetence, you deserve better employees as a growing local business. read more

Five stars. Need I say more? Josh has always helped us with making our door shopping experience as streamlined as possible. He walks us through what products they carry. And goes over every detail required for ordering. The doors we choose came swiftly but received one door out of six that was incorrect. Not bad odds. No worries, from the minute I realized it was wrong Josh rectified the issue and reordered the correct door and scheduled the delivery on the new replacement door as soon as it was available. We recently bought all the hardware for these doors on a separate order a month later and can't wait to install them. If you need some doors and windows this is the place to go. For what you pay the customer service was awful. I had to follow up twice to get my quote for my door. Then for my order I had to follow up 2 more times to get an answer as to when the doors were coming. And then I had doors back ordered that were a month past the ship date and I never got a call. I finally called and they said they have had the doors for a couple weeks and wondered why we didn't call. So unless you have a lot of time to check in and follow up I wouldn't recommend to do business with them for doors. Now I have to go pick up the doors myself because they told me they won't deliver the doors for another week. read more

Josh at Dolan's is the best. He is so knowledgeable and helpful and really goes the extra mile to help. He was so helpful with picking out our door and getting everything the way we wanted. Then he also helped us find a very reasonable contractor to install it. Then he went above and beyond in helping me get it delivered and installed before I had out of state company coming to visit. the warehouse told me they couldn't delivery until the next week and I had everything lined up to get it installed that weekend before company arrived. I was in a panic and then Josh called and had the door delivered to my house the very next day, 6 days before the warehouse said that they could do it. Above and beyond his job and he did it all without me even calling him. The pricing on these doors is very set and standard so you can buy them from anywhere for the about the same price but the customer service at Dolan's is the reason you should buy here. He set the right expectation in terms of the build/delivery delays because of the pandemic. I was in the market for some interior doors and this was one of my stops. I'm glad i went here.I dealt with Ciaran. He was great to deal with. all of my doors were custom sizes and he went the extra mile to search different manufacturers to get the best price and still give me the quality that i wanted.For example i wanted a primed door with reed glass in it and he got me a stain grade door for 200.00 cheaper than the best quote i had from another place. not only did he kill the price but he got it 4 weeks faster than the other place said they could. I've purchased from Dolan's (Burlingame) over the past several years. My most recent purchase (10/8/2015) was an exterior door that had to fit into an existing frame. Sam suggested that I bring in the old door and pay a little extra to have the new door sized to match the old door. THANK YOU SAM !! The door fit perfectly into the opening, the hinge position was right on the mark and the knob latch fit perfectly into the jamb section. "Big Box" stores do not give you the service that I've gotten from Dolan's. I'll be back !! read more
