Alexander Company replace the windows throughout the units apartment building windows, and we are very pleased with the entire experience. They arrived as scheduled and completed the project within the three days planned. What impressed us most was how well they worked around the tenants. With five occupied units, I was concerned about the disruption a project this size could cause, but they were very mindful of each tenant's space and worked around what was available to them. No one was unnecessarily inconvenienced, which we greatly appreciated . I also had the pleasure of meeting the crew personally. They were polite, respectful, professional, and easy to work with. The project stayed on schedule, and they handled themselves professionally from beginning to end. I would definitely recommend Alexander Company and would feel comfortable using them again for future projects. read more

It's expensive to replace windows and I had reasons not to go back to three companies that I used in the past 40 years. So I Yelped and requested quotes from four companies. Alexander was one of them which my neighbor recently hired to replace her windows. I met four window estimators and Alex from Alexander came across as honest, direct and trustworthy. No sales gimmicks, no rebates, and no pressure. And it turned out Alex gave me the best price. I also liked the fact that they came back without charge and fixed a frame problem that my neighbor was having with her new windows. Four months later, Rosy called to schedule an installation date for my new windows. Two days later, Jose, Carlos and two other crew showed up in two trucks on time to start the installation. The installation team worked seamlessly as a team, they first carefully covered the floor and surrounding to protect my floor and furniture. Then they went to work. From demolition, installation, to clean up, it took less than a day for six windows. They were friendly, efficient, skillful, knowledgeable and professional. Today, I look at my new Marvin windows and I couldn't be happier! Thank you, Alexander company and the entire team that work on this project! I appreciated it! read more

Professional guys. Good communication; showed up on time; worked diligently, neatly, and protected the work area; high standard installation and finished work looks great. Would highly recommend. read more

We've executed three separate projects with Alexander Company over the past year--including a complex multi-window setup requiring scaffolding and a sliding glass door installation--and the work has been consistently solid. Trust me, I've had a lot of contractors go through our home in the past year for all sorts of other projects, and these guys were by far the easiest to work with. I hate micromanaging projects because I genuinely don't want to do it, but when service sucks--which happens from time to time--you're forced into it. That was definitely not the case with Alexander. On-site execution is completely turnkey, with permits, heavy installations, and site logistics handled with zero friction. In fact, their turnaround time for handling things like emergency permits was completely on point, which turned out to be quite a funny story when all was said and done. The entire team is straightforward and professional across every touchpoint. Props to Walter on the initial scoping and estimates, Rosie and Maryanne on coordination and scheduling, and Jared's crew on the actual install work and fine attention to detail. Their pricing is competitive without any performance trade-offs. We still have a remaining set of older windows to update down the road, and Alexander Company will easily be our go-to when we're ready to clear those out. Highly recommend if you want the project done right without having to step in. read more

Alexander Company does an excellent job. (Not to be confused with Windows by Anderson.) They are a tried and true local treasure. I've had Walter's advice for years. Not your typical salesman! He is knowledgable, honest and funny. He will give you options on how to proceed that will help you, never suggesting anything you don't need. read more

Alexander Co installed windows for my family in San Francisco. Very easy to work with and very happy with the windows. Now we are in need of some new exterior doors. The show room is very nice and the service is friendly and professional. Skip the big box stores and head for Alexander of service and quality is what you're looking for. read more

Walter came out as scheduled, it was a delightful client experience as he knew his stuff, shared good advice on the products and care of the windows and even told me what NOT to replace--which I appreciated the most. read more

We had ALL of our single pane windows replaced by Alexander. We have an old home and they had to knock out the stucco on the outside to remove the windows. They did a great re-stucco job! You'd never know! The windows themselves are wonderful- we ordered a custom color to match the trim of the house so it took a little longer to receive them, but it was worth it! The best thing was how clean they were. Every day they cleaned up everything so our household could function without any inconvenience. Great people, great service!! read more

Horrible experience trying to get windows from them. repeated delays citing manufacturer delays. If parts are going to be delayed, they should know that ahead of time and disclose that to their customers. They just kept pushing the delivery date back over and over again until I got so fed up, I decided to go with another company. read more

Walter came over to give me a quote on windows. He was helpful and explained everything. He was so honest and suggested that we probably didn't need new windows but just to have the glass replaced. I appreciate the honesty. I would definitely recommend this business to others based on my experience with Walter. Thank you. read more

Their Customer Service has really went down. I was having screens replaced in my home. Maria called and asked me why her worker was taking so long to do his work! I told her that he was replacing 4 sliding door screens and 2 window screens. Then she started yelling at me saying that he should be finished with his job. My son heard her yelling and was very upset. She should have called the worker not me. She was very inappropriate and rude! I will never recommend this company again. read more

Alexander Company is honest with great customer service. I scheduled a visit and Walter came out. He was friendly and genuine. He shared his honest feedback without pressuring me to buy. I also emailed them for estimates regarding other doors and windows and they responded in a timely manner. read more

My windows were old and most likely no longer sealed around the window frames. The sliding pane was also rattling from the wind. It was time to replace them. I contacted several vendors, and Alexander Company was the best choice for price and detailed quote. After months of delay on my part, we finally got all the windows installed and properly sealed. The workers were very careful in placing down floor covering while installing the windows. I was very impressed on how they communicate their progress and any issues they came across because of the age of the window frames. I am very happy with the installation and the professionalism of both the workers and Mary who worked with me in the delay of the installation. I am very grateful to the members of Alexander Company. Highly recommend them to everyone looking for Windows. read more

Have worked with Alexander Windows several times over the past dozen years but recently their service seems to have deteriorated significantly. The Marvin Windows we purchased arrived without the correct trim. We ordered new trim. After being told the correct trim had finally arrived, Alexander staff were unable to find it. We had to reschedule our scheduled shade installation and incurred a fee for canceling the original date. read more

Love the look, cost, and time it took to install my windows (in a day), thanks for the great services!

I needed a new door and contacted various companies for an estimate . Alexander came in pretty much in the middle in terms of cost. The staff kept me informed as to when the door would arrive. Ron and his team arrived promptly on the installation day. They do outstanding work. Ron is very knowledgeable and his attention to detail is impeccable. Outstanding and awesome work! I would definitely hire Alexander Company again for any future needs. Thank you Ron and company! read more

Excellent company to work with! We recently had all the windows in our home replaced, 19 total. They came measured gave estimate, we paid deposit, and 10 weeks later we set install date. The crew came very carefully prepared each area with sheets of plastic to protect from harm. Replaced the old wooden single pain glass windows with beautiful vinyl window. Beautiful work! If we weren't already planning to paint this next fall, you can't tell the windows were just replaced. It took about 4 days. They look beautiful, and habe changed the inside of our home. It's quite now, not as much noise from outdoors, and it's keeping us much cooler so far this summer. I'm sure we will have a drastic change on our heating bill too. .. Everyone at this company from the phone calls with Maryjane, Walter sales, and Jose the job foreman, and the crew first class, pleasant, no sales pitch. Honest friendly company to work with, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We couldn't be happier with the new windows. We love them! THANK YOU TOO EVERYONE AT ALEXANDER COMPANY! read more

Such a wonderful & professional company! They were quick & responsive on EVERYTHING. They safely wore masks, covered up my furniture & prepared everything they needed in their own company truck. I struggled for months with my HOA about this window because not a lot of people were willing to work on my window because it couldn't be retrofitted. Alexander Company were not only willing but they also provided me a fair estmate as well. Definitely recommend & will go to again if I ever decide to replace my doors! read more

A somewhat belated review, but just wanted to comment on the great work that they did. I had to replace two windows in my home office room. They promptly sent out a rep to take a look and recommended the type of window that I needed. I also checked out the window at their showroom and decided to use them to replace the two windows after getting a cheaper quote from another vendor, but that vendor did not bother to come out because I had to replace at least 4 windows before they would come out. Installation was very fast and professional. The crew (Numas and Jairo) was very careful in laying down coverings on all carpeted areas and even the desk and computers that are in my office. I am very satisfied with the workmanship and the quality of the window that was installed. While their prices may not be the cheapest, I think their quality of work and product are worth the price. read more

I have 3 leaky windows that multiple contractors couldn't figure out the source of the leak. Walter came out for a quote and spent time looking at the outside and explaining why it's so hard to find the root cause of leaks. He called out that I could spend a lot of money fixing the stucco and replacing windows and the source could be something else given the weird leak I was experiencing. He didn't push anything on me and even suggested not to do the work as it'd be expensive and he couldn't guarantee it'd fix my problem. He took a closer look at the windows inside and discovered the windows weren't properly installed (which other contractors missed). He explained that I had new construction windows installed rather than replacement windows. The issue was the wood trim that didn't allow for water to escape as I had a sill on sill situation. This makes sense as I had the windows painted the previous year and the painters caulked where water was previously escaping. I really appreciated he took his time to explain everything and that my fix was a simple one in the end. read more

We worked with Alexander Company to replace our windows using a Nail On installation. This installation method required them to have scaffolding and remove external trim. I would rate them as follows: Professionalism : 5/5 Communication and Responsiveness : 5/5 Workmanship : 5/5 Timeliness : 5/5 Jeff and team were quick to respond to questions and proactive to keep me informed about what work would be happening when (ie. scaffolding, replacement). All work was completed on schedule and the windows look great! The workmanship was excellent. Looking at the internal trim and caulking, you can't tell that new windows were installed. The same can be said for the external trim and caulking. We are very happy with the work that was performed and would recommend Alexander Company to anyone looking to install new windows. They made the entire experience easy and painless. read more

Full disclosure: I have some time spent in the trades so I am a picky, OCD SOB when it comes to building repairs. This will be a lengthy post but a one liner doesn't do the work justice. Windows are serious business as far as I'm concerned. TL;DR: Alexander Co. Did a FANTASTIC job! From start to finish. Plus the stucco guy's work was superb and I could not be happier! I can sit in my garage while it's pouring buckets and not worry about water coming up through the cold joint anymore. That said, this was by far, the most responsive team and comprehensive installation of windows (both retro-fit and new construction) I've seen from a company in the Bay Area. And I have dealt with a few of them. We had been gearing up for the replacement of the windows in our home for the last 4 years. Windows are not cheap and you want to be sure the company performing the work stands behind their installation and are knowledgeable about the products and process. These guys/gals fit the bill perfectly in this sense. Fast forward, we sign up Alexander Co to replace 7+ windows and a VERY large (18' x 8') section of stucco on back of the garage repaired as well. I was really concerned about the stucco as the work itself was just as expensive as a couple of windows. John claimed I would be very happy with the work; his guy is "the Guy". Well then, by all means... Day 1: Armando and his crew showed up; they started breaking out the wall in the garage. Unfortunately for them, it was raining... HARD but these guys never broke a sweat and basically busted ass in the rain. Windy AF and they were just 'doing it live!'. By EOD they had the sheeting up and covered in heavy plastic to deal with the inclement weather overnight. During this work, we also had to hash out an addition to the stucco work wrapping around the corner since the underlying paper was trash. But Roy and I worked out the pricing on the fly and kept things moving. Day 2: Armando and a couple of the crew continued work on the sheeting in back and the others started on the rest of the windows. A knock on the door presented one of the guys holding a roll of high poly plastic. 15 minutes later my entire house is covered in it. Floors. Desks and beds... the dog. Everything. Everything was done to ensure that any debris was handled inside the home. A huge plus in my book. Having also realized that I needed to ensure that hammering around the walls of my recently renovated bathroom was kept to a minimum; just to be safe, I asked Armando to take precautions there too. Instead of using brute force to knock out the surrounding stucco; he first scored things with a rip saw and then used an impact chisel to open things up. Armando put together a really nice box for PG&E as well. Inspection passed and they finished in record time. Day 3: The stucco was a big sticking point for me as well considering we had a huge swath of the rear of the house being replaced. I had another company (AHR) do some work for us installing a slider and one window previously and not only did they 1) Use a fast cure product which cracked beyond belief as it dried but 2) Did nothing to address my concerns about said cracks. Basically told me over the phone to find stucco patch and fill it myself, cracks are expected. Grrr... Anyway, Alexander's guy (can not remember his name sadly), came out and knocked out the scratch coat on the first visit and then was back the next day to finish. A couple days later I noticed a few cracks showing and one call to John and his guy was back out and fixed everything. No questions asked! And no cracks since! Stellar job by this team. If you've ever needed a referral for a window company... this is it. read more

I live in a townhome community in San Mateo. Alexander Company installed all the windows in our community a while back; over 10 years ago. Given the lifetime warranty, I've recently attempted to reach out to Alexander Company to assess my windows for repair. The 2 people I've spoken to refuse to offer any sort of meaningful assistance, insisting that they have no records of doing work for us when I have sent them evidence to the contrary. All this to say, don't count on the lifetime warranty. read more

We have previously used Alexander Company and while they are not the cheapest they at least delivered and completed satisfactory installation of windows. We went with them again this time for additional new window installation and french doors and it has been a horrible experience. The french doors either have a manufacturer defect or were faultily measured by Alexander so that when they installed the doors do not fully shut nor lock. The Alexander office staff told me first that there is only one person in the company that can schedule or have any technician sent out and she was on vacation so we would have to wait until the following week - ok? So another week goes by, their technician comes out and determines that a new panel or whole door unit will need to be replaced by Milgard. Alexander then completely disappears and absolves themselves of rectifying the defective door that was installed, and I have subsequently had to spend hours on the phone waiting and talking with Milgard as if this is a warranty issue (spoiler alert, its not: its a defective product). Separately Milgard has 1) limited resources, and 2) low to no motivation to help resolve the issue, so long story short we are without a functioning/closing/locking door for 2+ months. Summary: DON'T go with Alexander Co and don't go with Milgard if you want to work with companies that take any kind of ownership for their work and products. read more

I would give 5 stars but for the delay from june to September to get the job done. I'm aware it could have been due to covid labor shortage and manufacturing delays. Once here though? The installers took two days. They were efficient, clean, meticulous and layed down paper to protect the hardwood floors. We ordered 6 windows and a sliding door, simonton vinyl beige. I was surprised how seamless the inside looked and happy about how the outside didn't have that wide ugly trim that is telltale of vinyl replacement. Bravo! read more
