The haircuts themselves usually look good but we have had several vet visits because of this business. First time was they cut her armpit, which got infected. We have also had several occasions where they cut her dew claw too short and it bleeds. She is not squeamish when it comes to her nails so I have no clue how this is happening. We have had to take our business elsewhere. You'll save money in the long run going to a fancy groomer because you won't have the expensive vet bills, and your pet will thank you. read more

I have a standard poodle and gave explicit instructions regarding his cut. Leave the head and tail long, just clean up the ends. Dog came home with really short pompadour and a tiny little Pom Pom tail. The cut of his body and legs was decent. Next time, talk to the groomer directly, although doubtful if I would go back. Super disappointing! Oh, forgot that they made our original appointment for a Monday, we got there, they aren't open on Mondays, and had to reschedule. read more

Zero stars was not an option, so I selected 1. This was an utterly terrible experience. My 9mth old pup was totally stressed out, she was nicked with a razor in two spots and her mats on front and back legs, bum and paws were not removed. They also sent my $40 leash home with another dog. They were able to recover and return it, but I have spent $80+ for a stressful experience, have a nervous dog, and now have to take her to another groomer to do the proper job. I complained and they made excuses and did not take proper accountability or even bother to offer a refund. Wish I had paid attention to a few of the most recent reviews. Just all round terrible place and strongly recommend against anyone taking their pets there. read more

They are awful to the dogs. The owner told me I had to tranquilize my puppy because he was not easy. Maybe he was, but they should be trained to calm the dog. The owner was very nasty and confrontational. I've met two dog owners since, and they basically had the same experience. read more

What happened? Took our last Cockapoo for many years to Golden Paws. We have a new Cockapoo and I was shocked when my husband, who did the pick up, brought her home. She was barely trimmed and even the trim was uneven. She still had matting around her neck so I don't know what happened. The new system is "text only". I sent 3 texts throughout the day asking if I might come back for an adjustment. I did not get any response. So disappointed but the dog is ok and that's all that matters. read more

They have a 4-5 hour minimum to keep all dogs at the salon for grooming, which I just can't understand. Say your appointment is at noon, you can't go get your pup until five. So I'm planning my whole day around this. If you try to ask why, you're told it's the rules. read more

I have been going here since she opened. I am on my third dog with this groomer. I recently brought my dog in for just a haircut. Because he didn't have a bath his cut came out awful. I have had his haircut there without having a bath before. No problem. I spoke to the owner about this and got nowhere. I sent her an email hoping to get an answer from her. Nothing. The place is getting too big and impersonal .You have to leave a message they leave a message for you. you leave a message for them . It's super frustrating. there's no human contact anymore. Horrible... Horrible... Horrible!!! My goldendoodle came back matted and incorrectly trimmed/cut. Took my dog to them for meet and great a week before and also gave clear instructions on what to do (bath only) at the time of leaving the dog for service... they still trimmed the hair all over and neck is all matted. At first, denied that they didn't cut but then later accepted and acknowledged. Not at all reliable. Kept my dog for 3.5 hours and spent probably only 30min. with him. Not sure, where and how they kept him. I am not going there back again!!!! read more

After my havi-poo had her belly repeatedly scraped at another groomer, I switched to Golden Paws. The women here take their time and are gentle with my dogs who no longer refuse to enter a place of grooming. Contrary to another review, the women here all speak English quite well. They have accents because they are Brazilian, and they fully understand my grooming requests. I'm a happy customer and my dogs look great. read more

Don't ever take your dog here. These people only care about money, not your pet. I brought my dog here for second and last time. They rushed through her grooming and scraped her skin and never even clipped her nails. The owner had nothing better to say except I will TRY to do better next time. We LOVE Golden Paws! We have been coming here for more than 6 years and can't say enough good things about the staff. One of our dogs is a rescue with significant fear issues and the other has knee problems which can be a challenge for grooming. It's never an easy thing to drop off your four legged family member and go on vacation for a week....but Golden Paws had it covered bc that's what they do....it's the next best thing to being at home. I have taken my dogs here for 13 years. They were open as much as possible even during Covid. Friends of mine have told me that you can wait as long as a month in other states to get your dog groomed. I do not mind the two week wait and our dogs always enjoy when they are there! They come out clean and beautiful and love being there. The people at Golden Paws take very good care of the dogs. I have also boarded them there many times over the years and our dogs love their "vacations" at Golden Paws! I would not trust anyone else with my dogs. read more

I took my 2 dogs (Maltese) here for 4 years until we moved to NC. I don't trust people with my pets easily -- I need to feel certain that they will be kind to my pets even when my dogs are being difficult. One of my dogs does not trust people easily and can even snap at them. Marlucia (the owner) has 4 dogs, some of which are Maltese, and she understood my dogs right away and how to build trust with them. Marlucia and Larissa were there all 4 years and were always kind and gentle with my dogs. They speak VERY good English and, more importantly, they are fantastic at what they do. They always asked what kind of cut I wanted-- I could specify in detail how I liked their faces cut and they did exactly what I asked. My dogs were always clean, fluffy and not itchy from their baths. Now that I have moved to NC I realize how special this place is and how difficult it will be to find a place as good. read more

Been going here for the last four years ever since I got my dog. I was looking for somewhere close to my house with convenient hours and friendly staff, this place has all three! My pup can be a little skittish which always breaks my heart but today he walked right in when Larissa was greeting him hello. He ran to her with a smile! That makes me so happy he was done in under two hours and I was able to pick him up very easily again with a very great staff taking all the Covid precautions. Very happy to be going there. This place is not nice to new potential clients. I attempted to take my black lab mix in for a bath and nail trim... made my appointment request online. They called me at 7:26 am on a Saturday to finalize the appointment, which was not even the time I had requested! Then they made sure to gruffly tell me to bring his shot record, but neglected to mention which immunizations were "imperative" for him to HAVE A BATH. Since my 17 month old puppy has never boarded anywhere, he did not have a bordatella shot, so we were refused at the door. They could have mentioned this at 7:26 AM when they called!!! The staff member that greeted me at the counter was very short with me, like I should have known this and how dare I interrupt her day. I will make sure everyone I know that is new to the area avoids this place with a VERY WIDE berth! read more

So I brought my dog here for a summer trim. He's a Portuguese Water Dog with a lovely black coat. The receptionist insisted that he was matted and needed a complete shave down. When I protested, she insisted that was the only way he could be groomed. She showed me photos of a shaved dog and even brought out the remainders of a recently shaved coat. She wanted me to sign a consent form with all the "cons" listed. I took one look at the consent form and the alarm bells in my head went off: shaving a dog - especially a double-coated dog like mine - can create a lot of unwanted conditions. I asked her to just groom the outer coat and trim a few inches off and she kept insisting that no, he had to be totally shaved. Then when I decided to leave, she asked if I wanted his face trimmed, which I agreed to. She took the dog and came back just seconds later, and he looked completely the same. "He was wiggling too much for us to trim his face," she said. Huh? Isn't that your business? And my dog is a very calm, easy-going puppy. I think they just couldn't be bothered - which is why they also wanted to shave the dog - it's easier and faster than trying to comb out all his long fur. his Bottom line: I took him to another groomer who said he wasn't matted and didn't need to be shaved and was willing to just trim his coat as I requested. And I have one other complaint - the last time I brought my dog here, he was kept for about four hours with no water provided and was panting with thirst when I picked him up. Again, I think they just didn't want to deal with the dog peeing - this place is basically all about what is convenient for Golden Paws and not what is best for the dog. It looks and smells clean - sure, it's easy to keep it that way when they deprive a dog of water so he doesn't need to pee! I would say to avoid this place if you care about your dog. Lovely place! The owners are very nice and do all they can to accommodate you. They ask if you have any specific requests and are gracious in complying with all my requests. My dog comes out looking just perfect, and the cut is always just as I requested. I'm very happy with Golden Paws. read more
