And no one in the family wants to even TRY clipping her nails at home, because she gets so panicked and squirmy, we're afraid of accidentally making her bleed! But we've gone twice now to the Wizard of Pawz, and the second time, she was soooo much calmer with getting her nails trimmed! Her back was shaved 2 months ago for spinal surgery, so they did a nice job of trimming the rest of her fur shorter to help it blend in. And the shorter trim on her legs (which usually look like she's wearing fluffy 80's legwarmers!) help so that her fur isn't getting tangled/matted or full of ticks when she's out in the taller grass! The staff are so sweet and friendly there -- you can tell they just adore dogs. We will be back for sure!

However she is so small and fussy that it was definitely a difficult job. Though I had to leave her at the groomer from 8:30am-5pm, and eventually help Carlos with managing her during the grooming, I was never fearful that Carlos didn't know what he was doing or would hurt her in any way. He is so friendly and professional and eventually we got the job done and she looks great! He also gave me a significant discount on the price for helping out, and I was so happy that he didn't give up on my kitten!! Will definitely be going back!

Although I always took her grooming seriously, I now am such an incredible stickler for groomers that pay very close attention to detail, because I want my Madge to feel beautiful after a haircut. Marcio is a very talented groomer. He listened to my feedback regarding what kind of cut I wanted / how I wanted to the area where her eye used to be to be trimmed / styled, etc. I could not be more happy with the job he and his team did. Not only did he respond to me initial request for an estimate, but also did provide me with a grooming appointment time and day within 24 hours from reaching out. Nevertheless, the groomer was patient, flexible, and easy to work with. I would use Bark and Mane again if my cat weren't such a surly beast. I came here for a hair cut in Dec 2020 and was disappointed with the cut (she just did not go short enough and didn't honor a perfect Yorkie cut like I asked for). HOWEVER the Manager/owner of this place (don't know his name but the friendly young guy who works here) was responsive and allowed me to come back with Puffin to try for a second cut at no cost. After a little bit of back and forth we got in for a cut on January 26th and were VERY happy with the groomers trim; she did a nice cut around his face and eyes, and also under the belly. They did their best to MAKE IT RIGHT and also have a lovely array of dog treats + food. Also great text message reminders and calls re: hair cuts and apts. Also, they allow you to park in their parking lot while you walk around fresh pond if you do not have a cambridge permit. lesson learned for myself to be better at communicating to the groomer what I want, and this place did five stars for customer care/service and treating Puffin well. I had a really…read morebad experience at PetSmart that left my Cavalier KC traumatized and in the ER; you can imagine I was pretty anxious in taking my baby back to a new place. Daniella is the only groomer there so she personally takes care of each dog from beginning to end. I explained all that had happened in the past and she was super understanding, texted and kept me updated throughout the service until the end plus my doggie looked so fluffy, cute and well groomed! I'm definitely going back to her! The price is also very reasonable so a plus on that as well! Thank you Daniella!

I no longer trust Crate Escape to care for my dog…read more Our dog had gone to the Crate Escape since he'd had his shots. He was well cared-for, and enjoyed going there. The last few times we brought him there, the staff was clearly under-trained and awkward with him. After one pickup, we noticed a nasty abrasion on his skin with some bleeding. I got an "oh gosh, we didn't notice that", and a followup phone call that meant nothing. They have switched to an online booking system that's poorly designed and a pain to use, very different from the days when you'd just call and make a reservation. I strongly recommend avoiding these folks. They used to be great. I would have gone out of my way to bring in more customers for them back then; all the good will is gone.

Since it was Maggie's first time, they offered her a special early bird slot at 8AM to reduce the stimulation of potential other dogs in the salon during later appointments which was an extremely thoughtful suggestion on their part. We arrived promptly at our appointment and the team was all ready to go. After the drop off, they kept us updated via text about Maggie's progress and temperament in addition to estimated completion times. She was ready to go within an hour and a half which was amazing! Once we arrived for pickup, we almost didn't recognize our fur baby because she was so well groomed! Maggie was playing with two other dogs that were scheduled to be groomed which was the best indication of her happiness there since she's still adjusting to learning how to interact with other dogs. She was even a bit sad to leave her new friends! Overall, the cost was extremely competitive for the area and I imagine Maggie was much happier at Robin's nest lounging in the window and playing with the other dogs while waiting than she would have been in a small crate alone somewhere else. On top of all of this, Robin and her team saved a little envelope of Maggie's puppy fur for us as a keepsake. We truly couldn't have asked for a better experience not only as pawrents, but for our baby girl's first grooming trip as well. We'll absolutely be returning in the future and recommending to all of our pawrent friends!

I had a very disappointing experience with this grooming service…read more I clearly provided instructions about the areas that were allowed to be trimmed on my dog Yeiko, and I specifically did NOT authorize shaving sensitive areas such as his belly or ears. Unfortunately, those instructions were not followed and the final result was extremely upsetting. Yeiko is not only my pet, he is my emotional support dog, and seeing him returned with areas shaved that I never approved has caused me significant stress and anxiety. As a pet owner, you trust professionals to handle your animal with care and to respect the instructions you provide. Although the company later acknowledged that the grooming did not meet their own finishing standards and offered a refund, the damage has already been done and I now have to wait for his coat to grow back. I also requested verification of the training or certification of the individual who performed the grooming, which is important when trusting someone with your pet's safety and care. Pet owners deserve transparency, professionalism, and respect for their instructions. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect those standards.

If you care at all about your animal's safety, go literally anywhere else. After picking up my dog from her appointment, she left with a limp that has only gotten worse. How rough do you have to handle my dog just to clip her nails to cause her to not be able to put weight on her leg? After speaking with corporate they were dishonest in telling me the cameras were off that day, when in fact this location doesn't even have them installed. What a LIABILITY (and how unacceptable) to not have any kind of video record/oversight of animals and their handling. There is absolutely no way for these people to prove that they weren't hit, mishandled, involved in an altercation, ignored, etc. Quite honestly with all of this I would be embarrassed as a groomer or a business owner. It is concerning to me the lack of training these dog handlers must have if this establishment is okay with not having cameras. Take your dogs elsewhere
