The service depends on the person doing your nails. Brian is the best! The other technicians look for him to help them and ask questions about what a client wants. Nice location with lot of places around it. I've become a regular there now. I go there with my bestie every few months. Staff is super friendly and professional. I'm not sure what these other reviews are on. I came in on Memorial Day for a gel pedicure after calling--although it wasn't super busy, they saw me right away and did a fantastic job. I never stray too far from getting French tips but noticed how well they worked with other customers to achieve other, more intricate designs--if you're looking for these crazy, extravagant designs you should go to a nail tech who are prepared for those kinds of services rather than a family-owned salon. The woman who worked on my feet made sure nails were even lengths and went as far as to add acrylic powder instead of cutting them short. Pretty good experience at Golden Nails located in the Quarry Shopping Center. The owner did both my manicure and pedicure. He spent lots of time and the dip polish lasts so long! I found the prices to be pretty good for a salon in Minneapolis. I did make a reservation and had to wait 20+ minutes for a chair to open up. It may take a while to get your service done but I found the experience enjoyable! read more

Guys. If you don't want to read this that's fine -- just do yourself a favor find somewhere else to get your nails done or eyebrows waxed. It was rushed, unsanitary and it HURT. GUYS. What a whirlwind. I'm really bummed about my experience because I wanted to LOVE this place. I came in today at 10:03, they open at 10 am. One other woman was sitting in a pedicure chair. A guy in a coat asked me what he could do for me and I asked for a dip manicure. He said okay so I asked where to sit, he told me to sit wherever. I chose a chair and put my purse coat down. He started to say how he didn't know where any of the employees ("girls") were and how they'd probably been out too late etc. Way unprofessional firstly for him to say that and secondly for no one to be there when the hours say it's open. I chose my color and waited. I was looking for a more unique, bright color but all the colors I could find for dip were more subdued / subtle. I had holographic gel nails when I came in and the man saw this, so he gave me two bowls: One with water in it and one with acetone, and told me to soak one hand in the acetone while I waited. I thought this was strange but followed his instructions. While I was waiting, I noticed that the desks / nail stations for manicures were all very short and narrow -- my legs didn't fit under the tabletop. I'm 6' tall but even so, I've never had a problem with this before. A woman came in from outside and put her coat in the back. She was the first employee in at about 10:15. They had me move to a different chair as more women hurriedly arrived. The woman who did my nails is an older woman and wore a hat. Almost seemed like a manager, it seemed like people were asking her what to do and she greeted everyone who came in. She was distracted the entire time and only talked to her coworkers. She started on my nails and immediately used a bit on them. I've only been to places that remove gel with cotton or cloth so it was a little alarming. It did not matter that I had soaked my hand in acetone but the acetone had started to burn my skin a bit. She pressed hard with the bit and my nails felt like they were burning, which was also alarming. She did this with both of my hands. The nail file used to shape my nails was beyond used, actually covered and saturated with other people's nail dust. In hindsight, I wish I would have asked her to use a new one on me. Anyway, she went in with a sawing motion to shape my nails with no regards to my fingertips or skin around the nail. May have lost a few inches on my fingers today. Honestly though, my fingertips still burn from her old used nail file swiping quickly across my skin. Half my nails were shaped and I asked for a bit more rounded shape. She told me that she'd do it afterwards. I just said okay and waited. After my nails were shaped initially, they were not cleaned. I could see the debris under my nails. I'm not positive but isn't it sanitary to sprinkle the powder above the nail instead of dipping your actual finger in the powder? We dipped today, fully into the container. So. That happened. The initial application was very messy and I was a bit worried that this was how my nails were going to look for 3 weeks. THEN, a woman walked in the door and asked for a brow wax. The woman who was doing my nails looked at me and said "I'll be right back" and left me to wax that woman's brows. It took about 10-15 minutes. Can you believe?? At this point I was like, "lol." I didn't like how my nails looked, my skin was burnt/rubbed sore, and I was put on hold for someone who had walked in. This was about an hour after I had walked in. The woman who was doing my nails came back and finished up. She used the same nail bit to shape the acrylic dip powder and I can't lie, it ended up looking really good. She also did finally come in with a cuticle clipper but went WAY too aggressive with it -- the skin around my nails was already sore and is now red and has some bits clipped out of it. It was $42. She massaged my hands after I paid, her strong hands were amazing for that but DANG. My skin still hurts from the file and clipping. I'm torn because I like how my nails look at this point, but they still hurt. I would absolutely never recommend this place to a friend. read more

UPDATE: I was finally able to reach someone by phone, and they were very apologetic and issued a full refund. ORIGINAL: Should've read the reviews here first. My friend booked pedicure appointments for the two of us, and I can say for sure that it was my last pedicure ever. The tech smudged my previous toenail polish color onto the top of my foot in the process of removing it and never noticed or fixed it. She also sliced open one of my cuticles and had to stop the pedicure to triage the bleeding, and I have dried blood on three additional cuticles where she clearly snipped them too much. No acknowledgement or apology at all. So disrespectful. Never again. Never, EVER again. Stay away from this place. read more

I have been coming here just under 2 years and I am always so impressed! It's tucked away behind famous footwear. I get the dip powder on my nails and these ladies do a fantastic job. They don't take too much off of the natural nail and they put on the perfect amounts to keep it fresh and gorgeous without being too thick. They give killer massages too. Be patient if you have to wait, and know that it's rather cozy inside but they do a great job for reasonable prices. Bring cash to tip! read more

I went to this place for a mani pedi despite the poor reviews. It was close and I wouldn't have to deal with downtown parking so I gave it a shot. They were friendly and got me in a pedicure chair right away. The girl who did my nails was awesome! Super friendly and thorough. I wish I had gotten her name because I would definitely request her again. My feet feel great and I love how my nails turned out. I was nervous to get a regular manicure since I always get no chip, but so far so good! My only 'complaint' is that there were several employees hanging out in the pedicure chairs chatting and one of them kept coming to show my girl pictures on her phone while she was working on me. I would rate my experience here a 0. My nail polish was old or dry came on clumpy and the nail tech just kept using it. Nail tech rounded all Of my toes but decided to have my two big toes shaper square though. ( makes absolutely no sense). I'm pleased. I took my beat up winter paws into this place on the coldest day of the year (after trying 3 other nail salons that were closed due to -20 below zero weather). The gal I had was gentle and really thorough when cleaning up my cuticles ( and cracked finger tips- my bad, I need to wear my gloves more often). Upon arrival, they handed us a cute little bottle of water. Definitely a nice touch- not something I've been offered from other nail studios. I also had my youngest daughter in tow and she decided she wanted to give acrylic nails a go (despite her gorgeous naturally long nails and perfect nail beds!!!). Between the gal and I, we talked her into doing overlay and just gluing a tip on 2 of the nails that had broken off (cuz why lop off perfectly gorgeous nails if unnecessary??!) I think she is pleased. They turned out great in my opinion. We'll see how she likes artificial nails as the next two weeks go and if they hold up. I had the unfortunate "Luck of the draw" on the nail technician this morning on 7/23/2022, the technician was an older lady and I immediately knew that she did not want to do my gel pedicure. I arrived at this nail salon at noon, I was told the first time it would be about 20 minutes. One male worker was doing nails and he gave me the impression that he was finishing up. I left and came back 30 minutes later and he was still doing the same customers nails. I waited another 20 minutes and by this time, three women workers came from the back after their lunchbreak, not one of them asked me if I had been helped or if I wanted my nails done. In my opinion, this place needs serious customer service training. The rudeness was on 10. I ended up walking out. Such a huge waste of my time. read more

After spending over 3 hours getting a dip manicure + having to go back 5 minutes after leaving to have the top coat re-done only to have my finger sliced open in the process, and still leaving frustrated and disappointed- I am exhausted. The tech was clearly having issues with my dip. She was visibly frustrated, and kept re-dipping my nails after trying to file them down and having chunks come out of the nail. The dip was so thick, I asked her to file them down more and it didn't help much. She didn't let the top coat dry (confused why I even had to wait to let it dry?) so the nails were ruined and bumpy. As soon as I got outside I saw how awful they had turned out and went back, asking for them to redo the top coat at least. The tech buffed out my nails so hard that he sliced my finger open. He didn't even acknowledge it, just put something on it and kept going while my finger bled. I got these done for a wedding literally tomorrow so not really feeling great about my finger that continued to bleed for hours after leaving. The top coat still isn't smooth, the tips are literally separated from my natural nail, and the nails are so thick I honestly wanted them to just them off but I was at the very end of my patience after almost FOUR hours there and just wanted to get out. I'm not the kind of person who won't pay for a service that I'm dissatisfied with but I can't believe they even asked me to pay. what I left with is unacceptable. I will not be going back. read more

I've recently started going to this nail salon and I am always happy with the way my nails turn out. The ladies are very friendly and they actually listen when you tell them what you want. They always take the time to make sure my nails look great. Tonight I went in with a Pinterest picture that I wanted to try and I came in late and they did an amazing job. They even did my manicure and pedicure at the same time so I could get out faster! I appreciate all they did tonight. They use antibacterial additives and liners for their pedicures which makes me feel safer. I also see a guy cleaning the chairs all of the time. It is important to me to know a nail salon holds themselves to high cleanliness and sanitation standards. Additionally, this place is a little bit less expensive than the nail salon I was going to. This is my second time getting my nails done at Golden Nails. The first time was great, but tonight was horrible. I arrived around 5:30 and asked the tech if she could do a "design". I use that term loosely because it's really just half color half clear (see inspo picture). She said she could do it and it was almost immediately clear she didn't know what she was doing. She tried different ways on each finger to the point where she had dipped each nail around 4-5 times. I had a pile of powder on my nails so she started using the electric filing tool aggressively. So aggressively that she caught my skin and made me bleed. By then it was around 6:30 and I just wanted to leave. I told her a couple of times "I need to be done this isn't working" and she kept saying "only a few more minutes". By the time I was done it was 7:30. I told her I didn't feel it was fair to pay for the service I had received and she knocked off a measly $10. I now have a bleeding cuticle, thick, bumpy nails and nail glue on my fingers. I wish she would have just told me she couldn't do the design. I would have been fine with that. Huge waste of time and money. I will not be returning read more

I really love how my pedicure turned out, but I have a bacterial infection on my right big toe. It hurts so bad. I've never gotten an infection from a nail salon before so I'm super disappointed and shook. I wish they would be more sanitary. I noticed them touching things after they touched peoples feet and didn't sanitize them after. They don't think of the little things that can EASILY spread bacteria. Been getting my nails done for 20+ years. Went here because I'm new to the area and the other place a block away is a nightmare (Mystic). And it's blocks from my house. Asked for Pink & White fill. However, due to my nails not being in great shape, ended up getting Dipped Gel nails. She did a good job as I look at them today (the same day I got them). Hopefully they hold up. The technician didn't have good English skills and we had a hard time communicating, but we got thru it. The place itself needs a makeover. Like badly. Spilled paint on the walls, furniture, floors, everywhere. Not clean at all, like I wanted to give it a god scrubbing. Too much stuff around also. Common theme in nail salons of this caliber, but this place is a little worse than most. It just FEELS dirty. If this manicure lasts a good amount of time (3weeks) without chipping, I will go back. Currently at home redoing my pedicure that I just paid for! So, I first came to this salon weeks ago for a basic pedi and was happy with my experience. My nail tech was professional, polite, and did a great job but unfortunately my most recent experience with a male nail tech guarantees that I won't be coming back to Golden Nails. I came in expecting the same basic pedicure i got last time.. nothing special. Apart from this man being unprofessional and making me feel uncomfortable; this nail tech completely fucked up my toes. Now I'm not a difficult customer.. I didn't ask for anything complicated... just a basic pedicure with milky white polish. I'm not sure if this man is new to the salon or what but he trimmed my toenails like he was using kids safety scissors. If it wasn't his first day on the job then I'm just going to assume that he was high on bath salts.... because how do you not know how to trim toenails.. like thats literally your job. He cut skin more than once, used the nail file on every part of the toe except the nail and managed to smear the nail polish on every nail. Btw I asked for a milky white polish and he comes back with some random holographic translucent purple polish... at this point I just let him do his thing and finish because it's apparent that he had no knowledge or experience in nail salon services. The most frustrating thing is that I get pedicures for the therapeutic effect!!! I came here to relax but ended up agitated with sore feet and a hideous pedicure because a nail tech decided he wasn't going to what I asked but what he wanted. Y'all i'm not exaggerating when I say my toes have never looked this fugly before. My toes look like I got them painted at a Claire's with those peel off polishes you buy for your niece. I have been to so many nail salons in the city, but I've never had an experience as bizarre and disappointing as this one. I don't understand the negative reviews because I have frequent this place in the last year and it was a good experience every time. $52 for gel manicure and pedicure is a great price. The ladies are normally quiet while performing their services but if you engage them in a conversation, they are very polite and friendly. I usually go on weekday nights because it can get really busy over the weekend. My only complain is not them but me! ;) they have a vast wall of nail polish and gel selections. I got acrylic tips and a gel manicure, and I think the woman who did them did an excellent job. She spent over 30 minutes making sure my nails were the shape I wanted and adjusting them to make sure they were even. Don't get me wrong, it's not the most glamorous shop in the world, but the staff is very nice and accommodating. Plus, during my time there, the place got busier and busier with people of all backgrounds and ethnicities, so it's not hurting for business even if there are a lot of negative reviews.
