Tofu Stir Fry "Cha Tao Hu" & Spring Rolls "Nam Chow"
    Lia M.

Golden Monkey Cafe offers some tasty Cambodian food in Lynn. The nam chow (summer rolls) and meekathang (like a pad see ew) are my favorite. Both are very fresh and flavorful; I recommend getting the gravy for the noodles so it's more like a lad na. I don't like a lot of sauce but wish I would have ordered it. I also loved the Cambodian pickled vegetables (similar to atchara), which were great. I didn't love the lemongrass beef or tofu dish; thought both were bland. I wish tofu could be added to the noodle and stir-fries. I hope they do well and excited to return when back home.

The soup was amazing, you can actually fill two bellies. Great customer service and family welcome while we were eating a lot of people came by talking to who I believed is the owner of the restaurant. So the ambience is family friendly.

My friends and I just had to pop in when we found this local Khmer spot. Since it was a soft opening day, they didn't have their skewers as well as other items available yet. We shared some eggs rolls while sipping on a mango and taro slush made at their service window. The egg rolls didn't have a ton of meat but were good for holding us over while we waited. Entrees consisted of the meekathang, ramen, and pork chop with fried rice. I didn't try the meekathang but it did look good. I found my pork chop to be a little bland and could have used some more time to caramelize but the fried rice was decent. My favorite dish was the ramen even though they seemed to have used instant noodles for it. The broth was deliciously seasoned with a few pieces of bok choy. The owner kindly provided us with complementary banana fritters which were an excellent way to end the meal. Nothing like a sweet fried carbohydrate to fill up the stomach. Overall, a good experience that I would like to visit again. I recommend supporting all small establishments especially after the impact of COVID.

Quick and friendly service! Love that there's another Cambodian restaurant in the area. The "me ka thung" has an option for gravy (saucy) or dry. This dish is similar to beef chow foon (Chinese dish) or pad see ew (Thai dish). Reasonable prices esp the smoothies/shakes.

I went to grab a bite last weekend before the snowstorm of Sunday. It was luckily quiet in the mid afternoon and the small lot was free of other cars. I ordered the Ramen with seafood along with a side order of the fried chicken wings with lemon grass sauce. After the meal, I added a mango boba as well to top it all off. There are several Cambodian restaurants in the area, but overall it is still rare so it is great to have one around when I am seeking traditional Cambodian/Khmer dishes. It's not a large space, cozy enough to seat a few tables and everything is simple with a large wall menu behind the counter or paper menu if you choose. The employees are very courteous and friendly. I suspect it is a family business give and you can just tell they take care of customers unlike a corporate restaurant. The ramen soup came out quick and looked great! Initially, the broth was rather plain but I forgot to add the slice of lime and let the flavors marinate for a bit. You have to treat this ramen like pho and not like the way of Japanese ramen which is a bit saltier by default. Once you add in your lime, chili, and pepper then it tasted great. Perfect for the cold weather nowadays and I love the thin noodles in a pretty decently sized bowl. Since I have a big appetite, chicken wing side dishes are usually my go to. They were very crispy and flavorful if you got the wings with the lemon grass sauce. If they added a bit more sauce then it would be even better or a little sauce plate. Really complemented the ramen well in my opinion. My only disappointment was the mango boba. It felt a little bit watered down compared to other places which then diluted the flavor. Still good nonetheless but not the best I've tasted. They have quite the wide variety of foods on their menu from appetizers to other noodles and rice dishes. Golden Monkey Cafe is definitely on my go to list now for Cambodian food.

Call-in advanced 20/30 min. Open every day 11-8 pm Food: Delicious, fresh, and tasty Service: very friendly and helpful Restaurant: small, only four tables, and clean Parking: yes, in front and on the side If you planning on ordering the flat rice noodles ( chow foon or meekathang) ask for more gravy/ sauce

Lemon grass chicken wings. Wow...your senses will thank you.

Stopped in here for a quick to go snack. I was not disappointed! The chicken wings lemon grass sauce blew me away. So tasty. The spring rolls are fresh and full and soft and ooo so yummy. Filled with rice , rice noodles, veggies , shrimp, and sliced chicken. Mild vinegar sauce with crushed peanuts. Definitely good sized portion for one / maybe two. The meals look great - I can't wait to go back and try another dish. (Literally) mom is out back cooking and her son runs the front. Clean. They have three tables inside and looks like porch seating when the weather is nicer. It's great to have an authentic Cambodian restaurant in the neighborhood. Something new and different. I will definitely be a regular at this spot!

Stop in for the shaved ice, it was really good. My only complaint is less syrup and more condense milk.

Crispy chicken and fried rice which is sooo good

My boyfriend and I have been three times so far the restaurant is super nice and clean and super friendly workers I am pretty sure it's a family run which is even cooler. Support your local businesses

I ordered $110 worth of food according to the actual pricing on the menu and I was charged $126 for it. They did not tell me about the prices. Even when I got the bill on their POS system, I was shown a tip page directly. I asked them if I can review items on the check and they then showed me the check. I was surprised that the pricing was totally off for each menu item!! They wouldn't have even told me if I did not ask to review the check. This was a very scammy thing to do and I was extremely disappointed that this happened. I paid the full price anyways but I would recommend REVIEW YOUR CHECKS or AVOID this place completely. Ideally they should have let me know right when I got the menu. I would have even not complained if they were upfront with it when they gave me the check. The fact that they tried to slip it in was extremely frustrating. Food 1. Mysore masala dosa and sambhar were very bland. We ordered 3 of those and unfortunately can't finish them because they weren't tasting right. 2. Gobi Manchurian was good and was also a good portion size 3. Samosa chat was the best tasting item on the menu. 4. Veg biryani was good but I've eaten better. Service: when we arrived, we sat for 10 mins and no one attended us. Once we were attended, the food arrived fast. The staff was nice too.

After seeing lots of burgers, diners, pizza, and café options around town, their menu immediately caught our attention -- tagine, couscous, shakshouka, Moroccan mint tea, and plenty of fresh, flavorful options. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, so we were a little unsure at first, but the pretty outdoor seating and beautiful weather convinced us to stay. Great decision! My aunt and I ordered the couscous bowl with beef and the mosaic bowl with chicken, while my little cousin got the chicken tenders and fries. The food took a little while to come out, but once it arrived, we understood why -- everything tasted incredibly fresh. The vegetables were delicious and well seasoned, the vinaigrette on the mosaic bowl was so flavorful, the beef was incredibly tender, and the grilled chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. And the hummus was SOOOOO good! Honestly, my only wish was that there had been more of it in my mosaic bowl because I could've eaten a whole serving of it on its own. Even the chicken tenders and fries were good enough that my aunt and I kept stealing bites from my cousin! We also had a pomegranate mocktail and iced Moroccan mint tea, which was incredibly refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. Blue Fez ended up being one of those places you're really glad you took a chance on. Fresh, quality food, great flavors, and wonderful service. I believe the high performance management, and favorable customer experience, are a result of the Cafe's manager, Luan. I hadn't seen Luan, or visited the Swampscott Panera Bread Cafe, in more than 10 years, and when I walked in, Luan was still there, still doing a great job managing the Cafe, and he remembered me and my name. I have no idea how he did that. The coffee at Panera Bread is outstanding; always hot, bold, flavorful, and with the right accompaniments, including Skim Milk. Unfortunately, the pastry at Panera Bread is not good. I don't remember how long Panera has been serving Par-Baked pastry, but the Par-Baked pastry are bad; they look good, but their taste and texture are terrible. Most decent bakeries put Panera's pastry to shame; Panera's bagels are awful, in the same league as Dunkin's hockey puck bagels, just awful. The salads and sandwiches at Panera are pretty good, but, expensive.
