TLDR: Delicious food, beautiful interior/view of the falls, severely overpriced in my opinion for what you get. We were curious to try this restaurant as we come to Fallsview Casino often.. We tried the dinner for 4 $398 (totally came to $547 after tax + tip) which included the following: * Fish maw thick soup w dried scallops * Gui Fei chicken (half) * Wok-Fried Lobster w ginger and green onion (They sold out of lobster so they swapped in crab for our meal) * Sweet & Sour pork w lychee * Stir-fried prawns & scallops w/ king oyster mushroom & green vegetables * braised pea shoots w/ dried scallops Servers were friendly and quick to seat us, but just wish they checked on us more during our meal. They asked to change our plates, but close to the end when we didn't really need it anymore. They didn't have the crab leg cracker either, so we were given gloves. Also, was a little challenging to get our server's attention at times for more water and tea. Was disappointed to find when we asked for tea, we were charged $20 for a tea from their premium tea menu - when we just asked for the standard tea you usually get complimentary at any Chinese restaurant :( Also was disappointed that the meal did not include rice and no dessert at the end either. One small bowl of rice was an additional $5!! I would recommend if eating here, order dishes individually. For this price, we could've just ordered Peking duck and a couple other dishes. Make sure to check the menu outside before committing!! Lots of more affordable/value Chinese restaurants in Markham, Scarborough, and Toronto that come with more food for less. My family and I came for dinner on a Monday evening fully expecting two-star quality food based on reviews. We thought even if the food is bad, we at least will have a nice view of the falls. The prices on the menu gave us a scare. We decided to order 6 dishes for 7 people with the assurance that if we were not full, there is pizza and Burger King in the food court. This is a Cantonese restaurant and most of the patrons are Chinese. If not for the location, you might think this it is a typical restaurant in Chinatown NY. They had plenty of wait staff that chatter amongst themselves loudly. Their professionalism is typical Chinatown restaurant atmosphere. If you know Chinatown then you know what I mean. The food was delicious! We ordered spare ribs, tofu with mushrooms, ho fun with shrimp in lobster sauce...we had a hard time not liking anything. We regret not ordering a vegetable dish. The aroma of wok hei was satisfying. The dishes were large, perhaps justifying the high prices. BTW, there is no view of the falls. The trees were in the way. This place is overpriced! The service is good but the food is the same as you could get at a regular Chinese restaurant. Small servings that cost a wee bit too much. No free refills and also nothing offered during birthdays or senior discounts. Not worth it. Understand it's in a tourist spot but so not worth it. Very clean washrooms though which is a plus. When asked if we brought anything back from Canada after dining here, it was all my husband could do not to tell the customs agent "the bitter taste of regret." The restaurant is attractive and clean with a great view of the courtyard and the falls (obscured by trees, but still nice.) The buffet is pretty pitiful for the price and a waste of a nice venue. The "authentic" Chinese cuisine they pride themselves on isn't the problem here. It's the lack of food. People complain about less expensive buffets, but they have double what this place offers. The only real chicken dish was sweet and sour, which is not particularly authentic, I don't think, but the sauce is a normal color and it tasted fine. They did have overcooked chicken wings and these hard breaded "chicken balls" with dry clumps of chicken inside, but that was about it. The honey garlic pork was dry and overcooked, even by buffet standards. There was some sort of thinly sliced steak dish that had an interesting flavor but it was cold, possibly intentionally so, because it was by the "assorted sushi" (all California rolls all the time, and - oh yeah - not authentic Chinese food, or even authentic Japanese food.) There were a couple of dumplings and rolls, as well as two more unique offerings that I guess are the authentic food they pride themselves on (pig feet and Phoenix something or other that looked an awful lot like chicken feet.) The fried rice was actually good. The noodles were fine. Desserts were limited but included some authentic dishes. They sprinkle shaved coconut on their jello. It's surprisingly tasty, but a strangely fussy detail that only drew attention to how poorly executed everything else was. They overcook the meat, but bother with garnishing dessert from a box? I dunno. I don't feel inspired to go back, but I do feel inspired to add some shaved coconut the next time my kids request jello. read more

The food is OK and I'm not sure if it was OK because it was comped or because it was actually OK. We were here during dim sum and some of the items weren't bad while others were. If I had to pay I might have complained but for me I had a chance to try many of the items. There wasn't anything that really stood out but there wasn't anything that I was disappointed in due to it being to crazy, cold, to chewy etc. The food never got cold and the turn around on the food items hitting the buffet was pretty fast ensure hot food at all times. I just don't understand why this place got so many bad reviews. I have been here twice. I like it here. The food is fresh. The service is good. The choice of food may not be as huge as other place but the quality of most dishes is high. I like so many dishes here. Where do I start. The spicy beef jelly, the pig foot and lotus root with pork rib are my favourites. The salad bar and fruit bar are not big but offer some uncommon dishes. Got a table beside the window. My gosh, there is nothing one can say about this place that can be anything other than positive. What a beautiful resort and the view is all you need to hear from me. Niagra Falls and in complete splendor. So nice inside, so vast, almost like being in a museum. It is artsy, eclectic and also industrial in nature. Beautiful in every way. We had a luxury suite which has the most magnificent view of the falls. I have never seen anything like it and I felt like I was right there next to the water. Our room was great and well-appointed for the two of us--posh, lots of amenities, and so clean. The bed was very comfortable and the service was fantastic. I cannot recommend this place enough. For those not familiar with traditional cantonese food, you need to take a walk through before deciding to eat here. It is in no way similar to what you would get at a mandarin buffet, which is very westernized. This place focuses on authentic chinese food. Textures at this buffet may lean towards the tender, chewy and gelatinous. Please understand that and make your choice accordingly. I quite like the food here with the flavour and texture profiles of the dim sum dishes which are as good as a typical cart pushing restaurant in chinatown - they have phoenix claws (yes, that is chicken feet to those not familiar), chive shrimp dumplings (skin not so delicate here, but ok), chili beef tendon (excellent!), duck feet, napa with fish cakes, siu my, stewed pig knuckles, lotus root with pork soup, coconut chicken soup, noodles, plain white rice to go with the meat dishes, congee, pan fried rice cakes, yiu choy, ... real chinese food! And their fried chicken wings are good too. A busy location, be prepared for a short wait to be seated. There is a good selection of meat based dishes that were fresh, but very few vegetarian, or vegan selections. There was only one sushi option. All of the entrees we tried were made to low spice tolerance, but chili oil and paste were available to add heat and flavor. But wait, our bill said that duck was $31.33 CAD for 1/2 duck?! For that money I should have that duck's soul. 2) Abalone Chicken congee $18.33 it was okay... a lot of chicken, very little abalone. However, we were sick so congee did comfort us. I want to add a review that makes it very clear that you should never ever eat here. Almost everywhere in the area has mixed reviews, because, ta-da, this is tourist trap central. Everything's expensive, it shouldn't even come into the equation. This is the grossest food I have ever, ever, ever had the dissatisfaction of eating. My fiance and I thought that at worst, it would be mediocre like your small town chinese buffet, and we'd make do, since it is one of the cheapest dinner options in fallsview. We just wanted to have SOMETHING before we went back to our sweet hotel room. The reviews were mixed enough that we gave it a go. Here's a few graphic examples of how gross this is: I picked out shrimp from the buffet. They are cooked shell-on. As you start to peel the shrimp, part of it (near the head) starts to turn to MUSH in your fingers. My less delicate fiance mangled the shrimp he attempted to peel to an inedible mess. After the first shrimp is peeled, the rest of your plate is cold. If you eat said shrimp, you find it to be a mealy paste. The general tsos they offered wasnt much better. The pieces are huge, and you'll soon find out why - biting into it reveals the chewy connective tissue has not been removed, your teeth hit a network of rubber underneath the fried exterior. I also got mussels, and as other reviews I think mention, almost all this food is served lukewarm, it turns cold quickly on your plate. (and just imagine the bacteria that would be allowed to grow on food that is not kept at a hot temperature!) So they were cooked in a black bean sauce- but the cold serving temps turned the black bean sauce into a glaze of amber snot. This restaurant, this area, is a disgrace for food. read more

TASTE LIKE LEFTOVERS!!! The buffet of food was awful, I suspect that it must be leftovers made from days prior. A lot of the food was stale and sloppily prepared with some items being unnecessarily oily. I also must add that the selection of food was very limited in comparison to other buffets I have been to. The only appeal of this restaurant is its low prices, but to me, it's just not worth it! My advice would be to go somewhere else and pay more money for quality food that you would actually enjoy than dine at this place. I dined here because The Grand Buffet didn't allow kids. It was a great choice. This restaurant is served by full chinese staff, something I only see in California. I opted for the dinner buffet ($20 for PAC members). The ala cart prices were pretty high (mostly $15 and up). The variety of dishes was impressive, quality is good. There are 3 booths for the food. The main booth houses the hot food. There was a good variety of rice / noodles, chicken (stew, fried), pork (incl HK roast pork ribs, spicy ribs), beef, seafood, tom yam, 2 soups. There was also siew mai (dim sum) and steamed white bun. The cold section is pretty weird. I have not seen most of the dishes before. I believe they are some authentic China style dishes. The dishes aren't really scary like intestines, but its side dishes (all cold) i have never seen before. The only dish I could associate with was stew hard boiled egg with toufu. It was prepared dry and cold. Weird. The dessert table was great. A lot of chinese style jello, mango pudding (v nice), herbal jelly ( a bit tasteless), egg tart (nice! bitesize) and chinese almond cookies. The buffet came with drinks like juices, chinese tea, soft drinks and cold soy milk. It is the best chinese buffet I have ever had in N.A. The flare isn't exactly like the good chinese restaurants but its really good for buffet. For $20, I may go back for lunch ($15) tomorrow. *The service is very good too. read more

Unrecognizable food just piled on top of itself. Very unappetizing. Example there was a pile of fried chicken, I swear I was there for atleast 2 minutes and I cannot identify what part of chicken are those. Nasty. 3) Service - None existence...and not for the lack of people working there since I counted at least 10 (and 2 managers) for the small dining area. Somehow they are blind to empty glasses. Never was I asked about how things are. When I finally waved down the waitress and asked for refill, she rudely told the other waiter (in Cantonese) to get it for us without even acknowledge our request. Very unprofessional. I had the buffet, and I give this place a 4/5. The location is good, real close to the casino, you don't have to go outside. The food is great as well, lots of choice (not as much as mandarin or other buffets however), and they quality of the food is good. Not spectacular, but good. The price as well is reasonable, fair for what they provide. I didn't give a 5/5 due partially to service, although it wasn't bad... and also overall food quantity (options to choose from). Went out looking for somewhere decent to sit down and spend some time with kids eating good food. We have 2 young infants. And it was getting a bit past our regular dinner time and this was the closest place to us. Upon entering they actually asked if we wanted to check out the buffet first as it was our first time. Which is a great/smart idea to do. Right away, was not impressed, as there really was not many items to choose from, especially dessert, if that is your thing. My gf is a bit more picky as well. So we chose to order from the menu. Sweet and sour pork and bbq pork with shrimp fried rice. Taste wise, it is not bad, seems on par with other places. But price wise, it is definitely not worth it. 2 dishes and 3 drinks came out to about $40, so about same price as buffet would cost. The amount you get does not compared to others places I would buy chinese food from. Locally, 2 dishes would be about $20, and maybe even some leftovers. None of the people there seemed too happy/friendly. Not that we needed anything, but after the food came, no one came close to our table again until I asked for the bill. We ordered a Peking duck which my we liked, mapo tahu was tasty and the stir fry bok choi was good as well. The rest was so, so the beef rib pepper was very strong and overwhelming. One word - Disaster Seated at a nice table partially overlooking the Falls it was all downhill from there. After receiving dishes and water we are completely forgotten. I finally make eye contact with a waiter who looks surprised (?) but takes our order. We share the "Ha-Lo" Wonton. The menu says crispy - try stale & crunchy. As we're starting with our appetizer here comes our main dishes. Our waiter makes a comment about our dishes coming out fast and leaves our mains at the table. Bewildered - we continue to eat. My wife had the "Seafood Curry" which wasn't bad while I had the "Szechuan Beef". Listed as spicy it was just bland and boring. We also shared a bottle of white. Waiter spills a bit while pouring which is forgivable. What's not is when he takes the bottle away before it's done. EXCUSE ME I say - he returns - pours the balance and leaves. Poor me, I didn't get to read the reviews before stopping in for dinner! Really, my wifi connection was bad! I found the buffet selection pretty interesting! Not necessarily to my liking, but some dishes you don't see in a typical Chinese/American buffet, don't know about typical Chinese/Canadian buffets, this being my first experience. Lotus & mixed veggies, beef short ribs w/lots of bones, fatty pork ribs w/lots of bones & cartilage, steamed pigs knuckles, minced beef fried rice. These dishes seemed more authentic to the traditional Chinese palette, not the best quality presented though. I am giving the restaurant a leeettle benefit of the doubt when it comes to the food, only because I came at that witching hour, late for lunch and early for dinner time. I sampled the Wonton Soup with cut mostly fresh green onions. Broth was so so, wontons weren't overly soggy or falling apart, they were alright. Didn't finish the soup though. Tried the lotus with mixed veggies, a kinda weird dish for me, there was something thready in my bite that kinda turned me off the dish, I think it was coming from the lotus, maybe starchy strings? Well, didn't go for seconds. I actually liked the beef short ribs, though they were a tiny bit tough, couldn't get a great grip with my chopsticks to completely bite off the piece I wanted (had to use a knife & fork!). The pork ribs were "fun" to eat, a mini morsel obstacle course for your mouth. You could chew your way around the bone or crunch your way through the cartilage, turn the small rib bone in your mouth to get the meat off or eat around the fatty bits. Decent, I did have a couple pieces for entertainment value. There were a few of your typical fare: shu mai (steamed pork/shrimp dumplings), not bad, not great. Something similar to General Tso's/sesame chicken (it was breaded & fried & sweet), did have a few more bites of that. Had the fried tofu with ground pork (not minced). Kinda bland brown sauce, add some pepper oil & hot sauce for more flavor. Deep fried salty shrimp. I usually love the flavor of this dish, but it annoys the h3ll out of me when I'm trying to eat the little suckers! I don't do the pop the shrimp & shell in my mouth and chew the meat out very well. Trying to peel the shell off neatly & completely is I admit a difficult task too! It's usually worth the effort to get the flavorful shrimp, but this buffet's offering was overly cooked and tough to deshell, I gave up. The fried rice was good. I actually ordered a dessert off the menu: lily buds, lotus seed & logan, "double boiled lily buds, lotus seeds and logan in sweet soup". It sounded intriguing, so what the heck! Warning: if you're wanting a quick dessert because you need to leave shortly because you have to drive across the Canadian/U.S. border to catch a flight back home... order the dessert earlier or get it when you're not in a rush! It's a hot dessert soup and needs to be brought to room temp & cooked up. So that's some of the buffet dishes, might be a bit better at another time. Definitely not the best buffet deal for the cost of $21.99 ($2 less if you have the players card). The buffet does come with a drink (don't know about alcoholic beverages). I found the servers were more attentive than was remarked on in other reviews and if they didn't preemptively offer their services, they were easily flagged down. I ate at the buffet recently on the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday and thought it was okay, but of course our meal was mostly comped so I am not able to evaluate the price/value ratio. However, we did have one toddler that was not comped and the charge was $15 which was a bit exorbitant. Because it was Canadian Thanksgiving, the food was "better" and offered more variety, according to my dinner companions who are regulars. I enjoyed the cold plate selections the most, which included some of the cold/spicy northern Chinese dishes (gluten, beef tendon, pork). There was also some dim sum options as well as the standard hot Chinese dishes. Service was courteous. read more

Good price ($20 for the buffet), good location (Fallsview Casino), poor service, below average food quality. You know the quality of the food is below average when my wife asked me what my favourite was and I said the tea. The tea was GREAT, I could drink that blend all day long. We had a very nice window table. For the buffet you pay first (good thing). The menu items were varied and looked good. Most were colder than they should be, lacked flavor and were very bland. Nothing special. The service was slow and inattentive. I got up to get our water and soda refilled myself. I would never go there again. read more

If there was a negative star button I'd choose that rating. The food was terrible. The selection was abysmal. If it wasn't overcooked or dry, it tasted off or just downright gross. My husband and I love Asian cuisine and were more than disappointed after shelling out $40 to eat at this place. After being seated and served our drinks, they were not filled voluntarily again the entire time we were there. We would have to ask multiple times /multiple servers just to get a refill on water. The staff were downright rude, giving us dirty looks when we asked for water or for a plate to be taken. Or they would just ignore us. I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere for a good dinner...
