I visited for dinner with my boyfriend after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp and I'm glad we chose this place! They have a hot pot side and a barbecue side and we chose all you can eat hot pot. They have lots of cuts of meat to choose from, plus fresh vegetable and noodle stations that are self-serve. We went with a dual pot of beef broth with spicy Mongolian seasoning and veg broth with Spicy Tom Yum. Both were great, but I especially liked the spicy Mongolian. We ordered quite a bit of meat (some beef tendon, sliced beef, sliced pork, salmon, and pork and shrimp dumplings) and it was all fresh and delicious. Veg included bok choy, cabbage, enoki mushrooms, and lots more, plus plenty of noodle varieties. They have a great selection here and there's surely something for everyone. Was really surprised to see how many 5 star reviews this has, but now looking through they're all from 2-5 years ago. Place has clearly gone down hill. Ate there for the first & only time today for lunch, after hearing good things about it. We arrived at opening & somehow all of the sauces were almost empty and the hot bar wasn't full which makes me think they were reusing food from the night before. Restaurant remained empty our entire lunch besides one other table who came in just as we were finishing up. The meats for the BBQ were all marinated the same and not super tasty, the chicken had a gross taste that we couldn't pinpoint so we did not eat it. The service was terrible, the girl who was waiting on us nearly spilled boiling hot water all over me and then spilled all of our raw meat juices on the floor. Had to constantly wait for them to come out of the back to be able to ask for something (restaurant was empty yet servers were nowhere to be found most of the time) and then they tried to charge us extra for the chicken we told them we didn't like. The man clearly stated that because the chicken wasn't still cold he couldn't reuse it... so they'll take food back to the kitchen from your table to reuse for another guest if it's still cold?? $38 per person is outrageous for what you get. We received virtually no instructions. The quality of the vegetables and prepared food were not great. I have been to fast food places that are better. I ordered a spicy broth at a spiciness of 1 and couldn't eat any of the food that was cooked in it. It was insanely hot. And I eat hot wings, Mexican food, Thai food, and Indian food without issue. When I brought it to the sever's attention, she just shrugged. They don't accept Amex. I'm sure I know why. Our bill was $150 for 2 adults and 2 kids plus tip. The dining area was well light and clean. The veggies and noodles area was clean and kept cold. The hot food buffet had limited choices but was decent and were clean for food safety. There was no loud tvs blaring out in the restaurant nor was there any music playing. So it was just a very simple decor and atmosphere was just the sounds of servers, food trays, robot bringing you your kitchen meats and customers talking. There were several choices of sauces you can put in a bowl for your meal. It was in a little table on its' own. Very good. The front half of the restaurant is for those who want to have the AYCE bbq. The back half is for those who want to have the AYCE hot pot. There was a decent amount of choices to choose from meat and seafood wise. This also includes a few choices of imitation crab and other low protein meat choices (asian style meatball, fish balls and Chinese red sausage. They had choices of a few juices, smoothies and they are licensed so there was beer available. The meal itself is $38.99 on the weekend for supper which isn't too badly priced because it is all you can eat. There were a few choices for appetizers. I tried the pork and shrimp vietnamese spring rolls which was not authentic but still very good and would recommend. I don't recommend the bbq ribs because it was fatty and had too much gristle. I was a little confused if they didn't have a specialty in which they cater more towards. We decided to go try the Hotpot option. Food - 5/5: This restaurant is so unique because you get to walk up and grab the ingredients yourself (if it is for Hotpot), except for the meat... they get delivered to you. The vegetables are fresh, clean, and perfect in every way. The choices of noodles are extremely wide. They range from ramen, udon, flat rice noodles, and so much more. The broth was extremely tasty too. Their dipping sauce section had a huge variety of sauces. I put together Peanut Sauce + Sesame Oil + Sesame Paste + Fresh Cilantro + Hoisin Sauce = PERFECTION! We chose the Mongolian and Lang (Vietnamese) flavors in a duo hot pot for better variety. Good selection of meats and more expensive veggies everything looked very fresh. Ended up cooking a lot more than we could eat getting the right amount of noodles was hard. They had a hot bar of sides that you can choose from too all were tasted though didn't have much with how much food we had in the hot pots. Being our first time they told us how to cook everything. We were coming back from Niagara and decided to stop by at this Vietnamese hot pot and bbq location. Our party of six opted for the all-you-can-eat BBQ for $36 /person and it was worth every penny! A great selection of well-marinated meats, seafood, and self-serve vegetable/fruit bar. Don't go for the eggroll/noodle bar, focus on the delicacies such as bulgolgi, ox tongue, etc. It's a great group activity and the service was fantastic. Hidden/overlooked gem in St. Catherine's. I live in Toronto and this is probably one of the best hot pot places I've been to so far in terms of speedy service and fresh ingredients. I came here for lunch, did menu A and that was enough food/options (menu b has some extra's like salmon). You have a choice of adding a flavor to your brother and the Tom Yum is soo good, very spicy and flavorful. However, if you wanted to make your own there's an area with sauces to add. The peanut sauce is phenomenal, I used it as a dip for my cooked proteins! They have two fridges full of fresh vegetables and noodles, a hot foods bar which is so good and a fridge full of fruits and some dessert. Also, unlimited ice cream... by the time I was done by lunch I was so stuffed but definitely went in for an extra scoop of green tea. The staff is so friendly and quick, the food is fresh and it's very well priced. On a road trip from New York to California right now. Stumbled across this place randomly, and we're very glad we did. Even though we are from New York City, never have we encountered such a unique twist of hot pot that is Vietnamese style. I am myself in Vietnamese and was very satisfied with the variety of meats and the taste of the broth. It was like real beef pho broth. We did not try the barbecue. Take a free ice cream at the end which was nice. My parents usually come to Toronto to get hotpot, but now St. Catharines has the real deal. The hotpot stock was delicious, and the selection for sauces was great as well.
