I enjoyed the service at Golden Grill. The waitstaff are friendly people and very attentive. I give them 4 Stars. The food, however, was just ok. The coffee was good, but I would've loved to have more of a variation of creamers/milks, and sweeteners. There are so many alternatives on the market that it would be nice to make healthier and tastier choices. I didn't care for the quality of the food, but it was prepared well. It was cool hanging out there listening to the conversations of their regular patrons. It gave the place a homey comfortable feel. I could see why people eat there often. read more

We were there for breakfast, and were pleased with the wide variety of options. I ordered poached eggs on toast with turkey sausage. Haven't been to Grill in a while. Someone took a multiplier to prices. $4.00 for cup of coffee and not even flavored creamers provided. I ordered chocolate chippancakes and was charged EXTRA for chocolate chips!! Pancakes were like lead sinkers and this was a featured item. Sign in restaurant said to try 6these pancakes. My first visit since 2017 ... and this tiny restaurant (FKA: Nip & Tuck) is continuing to serve great breakfast. They are a terrific value. The waitress said that the make their own corned beef for the corned beef skillet. The corned beef was sliced deli thin. I was hoping for pulled/shredded, but that is a nit that I will not pick. Two large eggs scrambled, over a bed of shredded potatoes, onion, corned beef and cheese. I added a splash of Frank's ... They offered the usual selection of toast ... or a homemade biscuit. The biscuit was large, light and served warm with butter and honey. I will definitely order the biscuit again. Danielle was my server. She was prompt, knowledgeable and attentive without being obsequious. The dining room is tiny. There is an outdoor area that might accommodate two small 4-tops once we get to the warmer months. Nice spot for breakfast -- I haven't tried their lunch menu yet. I got a meat and cheese omelette with sausage and American cheese. The eggs in the omelette were cooked perfectly. The sausage was overdone and charred. The cheese was nicely melted. Instead of hash browns, I got a fruit cup, which had a nice variety in it. I also ordered some avocado to put on my omelette. It was good quality for the most part; it did have a large brown spot I had to cut away. The toast was great. The servers were friendly and on top of their game. The place isn't big, so I could see it filling up during rush times. I went in for a late breakfast and had no trouble getting a table. The decor is about what you find in most diners. It was clean, but nothing that I found particularly memorable. The parking lot is pretty small and there is only one way in or out, so keep that in mind. read more

Golden Grill has been around a long time but was never a regular stomping ground for me. I know people who rave about it but I don't tend to head down 11 mile for anything. I stopped in here a few months ago with a friend and there was a problem with our bill. My recent solo visit, I sat at a two top and ordered breakfast. Mid meal I was asked if I could move so they could accommodate a larger party. I don't think you ask a customer that. You just don't. The place is too small to be shuffling tables. Had I been asked before I received my food, it would've been a different story. But mid-chomp I have to get up and move my plate and move my drinks over to another table. Your customers, who came in after the ones that are seated, are the ones that should be inconvenienced. I wasn't going to sit there for another hour. I would've been sitting here for maybe another 15 minutes tops. So I just told the waitress it was fine because obviously they wanted to rush me out of there. It was a bad day in general, so I shoveled my food into the container with my hands and just decided to leave it behind because at that point, I really don't want to eat cold breakfast. And then the woman at the counter asked me how everything was. Hahaha. GTFO. Nobody really gives a damn, so I didn't mind stiffing the waitress. Not her fault necessarily but I didn't get to eat my meal and the tip of the party of 6 would've been better than a solo diner, who was just taking up space. Food was good for what I had time to eat. About a third of my omelette and a couple pieces of toast. But the dollar signs of a party was more important than my ass. Never again, which won't be hard because that area is depressing. I did a carry-out order of Eggs Benedict with Salmon and a Caesar Salad. I would not recommend either. Let's start with the Eggs Benny -- the English muffin was burnt, the poached egg was cooked so much that the yolk resembled that of a hard boiled egg, and there was so little salmon it you could eat it in one bite. As for the Caesar Salad -- the croutons were stale and the pita was actually moldy. If this was not a carry-out order, I would have sent everything back. read more

Got Mediterranean skillet. $10.5. Dine in. Fair price and value for basic ingredients cooked well. Eggs over easy were cooked right. Vegetables, including spinach and peppers were lacking a bit in my opinion, but were decently sautéed. Chicken cubes were good and feta cheese complimented this Mediterranean dish. It was not too heavy, which is good, but did not have enough food to be considered a "skillet". If you want a healthier option, consider this dish. We'll be back to explore other items. Had lunch here with a friend under their suggestion and I was not impressed. The driveway to the parking lot is incredibly narrow which made it a pain to get into while other customers are leaving. Upon entering, I realized it was very small, but the booths are comfy. Very fast service! The menu descriptions leave a lot to be desired but they have a wide variety to choose from. I ordered two Julienne salads to carry out for a coworker and myself. We wanted to substitute the corned beef for the ham. When I called, the server asked if we'd had the corned beef before, and since my coworker had, I said yes. When I went to pick it up, the bill came to $26! I asked how 2 $8 salads got to be so much, and she said it was because of the corned beef. I said that asking if you've had the corned beef and explaining that there is an upcharge -- and a substantial one at that -- are two completely different things. She got the manager, who tried to explain that there's a price difference between ham -- which we weren't getting -- and corned beef. I told him that I understood that, but first of all, we didn't get the ham, and second, I was not told that there was a charge, and that he needs to make it clear to customers that this is their policy. (Had I known, I would have just doubled the turkey.) The only thing he did was apologize and offer to remake the salad in its original form. The thing is, this is an independent diner, which I try to support. Their food is generally good, but this experience is not a pleasant one; I could have gotten an entire sandwich for what they charged for the little bit of corned beef. And it seems that they went from "fresh" turkey right off the bird to the more processed "lunch meat" style. read more

The older brunette sat us at the small two top by the 11 mile doors and brought us waters and menus. The younger dark blonde with dimples was friendly and patient. The generic ketchup bottle here and log cabin syrup, hmm, hoping the food isn't as low grade as their condiment selections. The huevos wasn't bad, the corn tortilla was a crispy bed for the scrambled eggs. The turkey sausage wasn't a bad replacement for the chorizo. It had some kick to it, maybe from the jalapeños. The cholula was a nice add to the huevos. My husband enjoyed his Pablo burrito and I took a bite of it, very flavorful and spicy from the chorizo. The hash browns were pretty crispy, but not so warm when it came to the table. Tasted fine anyways. It's reasonably priced, $21.20 with taxes for our brunch meal and a side of hash brown. Everyone was so nice and friendly and my cheeseburger and fries were so good and the cheeseburger tasted like real meat, not fast food or a place that uses frozen meat. This is more commentary than review. I am writing to express my profound disappointment and shock at the recent incident that resulted in my ban from your establishment. As a long-time customer and supporter of your business, I was surprised to learn that I am no longer welcome because of your racist views and comments of control over the actions of your staff outside your employment. While dining with a friend, as I do every week for some years, I asked one of your waitress if she would be interested in selling merchandise at a summer festival that I promote. She said yes and I stated we would reach out once the date gets closer. I cashed out per usual and left the restaurant. You approached me quickly coming from the back entrance and around the side as I walked to my car. I recognized you as the cook despite the fact you have never said even a hello over my many visits. Your statement, "you people come into my restaurant and attempt to take away my employees by offering job." My response was "I don't know what you people you are referring to but I am not offering a job nor trying to take away your staff. I am in no way any competition to your restaurant. I have a event once a year and I asked whether she would want to make some extra money one weekend in the summer." Your response, " I don't care how much work it is and I don't want my employees thinking they can work somewhere else and here too, so I don't want you back here." My response, "so people that work for you can't make extra money, and after coming to your spot for years you no longer want my business?" Your response " that is right, you are not welcome here and tell your friend." My response, "duly noted!" I have always appreciated the food, service, and atmosphere of your restaurant, and I have visited with and recommended it to many friends and family members. I understand that every business has the right to set its own policies and standards, but I believe that no one should be discriminated against based on their race or ethnicity. Perhaps you don't understand the history of a "you people" comment, perhaps you do. Either way, it is deeply troubling to me that you as the owner would hold such prejudiced views and disdain for your staff being free to pursue other money generating possibilities. I will no longer support a business that is associated with such and as I am banned I will inform as many likeminded to do the same. I am a creature of habit. Once something is routine I continue. I have supported your spot weekly since you opened. I hesitated actually writing this letter because your staff (particularly Melody) has always been professional, friendly and accommodating. I took your comment, "and tell your friend" literally, despite not knowing exactly why the friend was being banned. I have lots of friends, and I guess you mean all of them. So after actually reaching out to everyone that I could remember personally taking or referring to your spot (28 and counting) to retract my recommendation and relay the story, I decided a Yelp review and a social media post will suffice to let anyone know that I might have missed. I find it interesting that as many times I have frequented your restaurant over the years, this is the first interaction you chose to have with a long-standing customer. While I have no intention to further recommend your restaurant, I urge you to reconsider your position of bigotry and control and take steps to promote a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all customers. Unfortunately this place has gone way down hill. Still very friendly service but the quality of food and attention to the order has gone out the window recently and today was the last straw. I ordered a California omelette with Crispy hash browns, which I've gotten several times and lately NEVER comes with the hash browns crispy. This time was the same. Soggy undercooked hash browns and this time the bacon in the omelette was squiggly and undercooked and the amount of grease was astounding. When I called they said I'd need to come back if I wanted a new order but I'd already gotten home and was not able to go back up.I requested just to refund me. After she talked to the manager she came back and said I could not have a refund but they would replace it on another occasion but I'd have to come back within a week or so or it will expire. I'm no longer going to come to this restaurant because the owner seems to feel like $11 is more important than making an order right and keeping a frequent customer happy when provided a poor quality meal. I don't know why I have been so reluctant to go to the Golden Grill. It's hard to break old habits because I love Montys and Cocos so much... But I decided to try something new. The walk was easy... it's literally right down the road from where I live. It's a small space. If you haven't been to the location before know that it's small and you may have to wait a couple minutes. My friend and I walked right in though. There was one table open so we plopped down. The service was fast, which I appreciated. There seemed to be a lot of waitresses working which made refills on drinks fast. I feel like there was always someone swinging by to fill coffee. After looking at the menu they do have more interesting options than some of the other local places. I got the veggie skillet plus feta, sausage and switched toast for a biscuit. My friend got the avocado scramble and a biscuit. Can I say... the biscuits were AMAZING. Maybe it's because I don't have biscuits very often but they were straight up crack. Fo reals. The waitress said they are homemade and she's been trying to get the recipe but it's a secret. The biscuits alone would bring me back and I rarely eat gluten! I saw some other dishes as they were going out that I want to try... someone got a double cheeseburger that looked delicious. The pitas and the wraps/burrito(?) are up next on my order list. :) I'll continue to update my review as I keep experiencing their service but so far it was a great experience with good food! But today I went to lunch a little later, and it is Monday. I was excited today when I pulled up and lots of spots open. I ordered the lunch special was Fish and Chips with Chicken noodle soup.
