Got there a few minutes after they opened and there were already several tables getting their grub on. That's usually a good sign. The food was ok, I guess. Not a whole lot of beef in the beef & broccoli, but I'm not sure if that was normal or if someone before me grabbed it all. One piece of pepper in the pepper chicken too. Sweet & sour chicken was hard on the outside and rubbery inside, leading me to believe it was yesterday's fare, reheated. I rate Chinese restaurants on three things. Egg rolls, General Tso's chicken, and egg fu young. The egg rolls were tolerable. The filling was mushy and overcooked, and it lacked flavor. The General's chicken was ok, but there were no peppers in the sauce, leaving it rather bland. Can't tell you about the egg fu young since it wasn't offered on the buffet. Service (drinks/refills) was quite good. The waitress remembered what I was drinking and offered a top off when it was half full. The only fried rice was with shrimp, so if you've got seafood allergies, you're stuck with the sticky white rice. The Crab Rangoon probably didn't have any crab in it, but the casing and filling were delicious. Perfectly crunchy outside that melts in your mouth. The restaurant was clean enough and the bathroom was clean & stocked. The $16.11 check for a lunch buffet was a bit surprising, considering the limited fare. Words cannot adequately describe how bad the food is here. Stopped in for the lunch buffet today and got a lifetime supply of salt/MSG. Every single item on the buffet tasted extremely salty, many of them to the point I couldn't eat them. Most items were cold as well. Hot and sour soup was a cloudy weird tasting mess, the fried rice was tasteless, and the "lo mein" was made with spaghetti. Less than Decent. There wasn't any issues with the service, they were sufficient in picking up plates, refilling our drinks and giving us more napkins. However, the quality in food was subpar for the $17 price tag. Plenty of trays were over cooked, dry and or lacked any flavor. I will say their chicken based dishes were okay, the rest were more close to inedible. Obviously, you don't go to a Chinese buffet for a 5 star dining experience but this place just lacks any effort when it comes to most of what they're serving. Bottom line you can get a much better experience somewhere else for the same price or even less. To be fair, I have noticed most of the negative reviews are from people out of town including me. Towards diner time the place was pretty close to packed and even some people picking up take out orders which surprised me. All the good things that one goes to a Chinese buffet for. I brought my vegan friend once but they had very little that she could eat (the only downside, to me). Went on Saturday night at around 7 PM. Place was near full. I was going to order off the menu but decided to take a look at the buffet dishes at the last minute. I went for the buffet. This was a mistake. You know how they say never go grocery shopping hungry? It was like that. Saw the steaming, greasy foods in the square metal pots and caved in. $15 came the check. I left a little tip. I felt bloated and slightly ill. I always tell myself that I will not do a Chinese buffet but somehow end up doing it. Maybe I cross my fingers and think that that this time it will be different. It's probably less culinary and more psychological. It is a phenomenon. And what do the owners and workers think? What's going through their minds? "We prepare all this food to best serve our customers and all you do is complain. You're welcome to go elsewhere if you don't like it." OK, we've have always loved Golden Fortune, our grandkids also love to go there. However, after yesterday...........nope, not going back! My husband was dishing up a tossed salad and grabbed a few cucumber slices. Cockroach.....dead.....stuck to the cucumber slice! Yes, so he set it on the ledge of the counter. He came back to the table, we watched it set there for 20 + minutes before the main lady was washing the counters and nonchalantly grabbed it and took it to the kitchen. No surprise on her face at all, which makes you think it wasn't an isolated case. Maybe this is an ordinary occurrence in a restaurant? I hope not! But, as we considered where there was one, there had to be more, and they need to "relieve themselves", so nope.....not going there again! The servers in this restaurant were excellent should have charged 20 percent gratuities rather than five dollars or less than 10 percent. The owner came to sit us promptly in our booth and even wiped it down. While the waitress as well as owner were so good at clearing of dishes, offering drink refills. I liked the Salad Bar and Fruit as well as the Chicken steamed dumpling, although both were running low perhaps as the end of day eight pm. My son and daughter who generally loves Chicken Low Mein and General Tsao Chicken did not find so did not really eat as well as a toddler. We were charged full price for a sixteen year old who did not touch his food. The cooks can look to more standard Chinese and American menu and cater as well to children. Although my wife and I ate well, she enjoyed the abundant sushi. Whenever Vietnam is mentioned one always thinks of Pho an amazing soup with fresh beef and fresh vegetable trimmings. This place is my guilty pleasure. They have a large selection of dishes, including some I've never seen on a buffet before. During lunch, they have this fried egg thing drizzled with an oyster sauce; they manage to keep the egg yolk runny, and I can just hear my arteries closing up as I eat it. Their kimchee is really good, but don't try the sushi! It isn't sushi! I don't know what it is, but it shouldn't be called sushi! The soups are decent, and everything is usually hot and fresh. I took my family there last night and it started out good we are seated right away. then we had to wait a few mins until our server came to take our drink order. which was understandable since is was a little busy when we arrived. But as we were eating our drinks got low and our plates pulled up and no server. we ended up getting our own drinks refilled and still no server. a few times the manager came over to get our plates and refill our drinks but that was few and far between. And I'm not trying to be that way but there was two families that came in after us both white and they were being literally catered to the server was checking on them like clock work as well as the manager. Its actually cheap, but for the quality of the food they serve, its not worth it. Service: 1/5. its a buffet, you're suppose to get a new plate every time you get your food and somebody is suppose to get the dirty plates from your table. Well, somebody finally did removed the dirty plates after it stacked up. We also had to ask for more napkins. Hellooo, put more napkins on the table so the customer won't have to ask for more.
