    Poke bowl
    Pat C.

The shumai were okay. I thought they were small. The poke bowl was fine. All ingredients were fresh. Service was slow considering that it was not busy since it was past lunch time. Though our server seemed to be new or in-training, she was pleasant and tried to do the best she could. When asked for the menu again, it took at least 10 minutes to get back to us. Meanwhile, I already asked the more senior waitstaff for the menu which she handed to us immediately. Dessert choices were limited to mochi, mochi ice cream, and sesame balls. Overall, would give a 3/5 rating: the food was not bad, the interior was cute with Godzilla posters from different years all over, but the service was a little slow allowing for the training/new status of our server.

Cozy environment, reasonable prices, attentive staff, and good food (enjoyed the three sushi rolls I had).

I would highly recommend this restaurant as the cuisine is delicious, the service is wonderful, the ambience is quite unique. There are really cool Japanese movie posters throughout the restaurant. If you're looking for something different and delicious sushi and seafood, look no further.

The kid approves of the fabulous selection of sushi on the menu... extremely fresh, prepare to perfection. Outstanding customer service, definitely a place to seek out and enjoy.

Was in the area and had heard great things about Sumo, so I decided to stop in. I was not disappointed! Cozy restaurant with amazing food. I got the Crab Rangoons (so delicious I didn't even get a picture, I ate them so quickly. Crispy, light and well balanced), a spider roll (substantial and the sushi rice was some of the best I've ever had) and the Pork Bulgogi bowl. They aren't lying when they say it's spicy, but the heat was nicely offset with a generous helping of fresh veggies! Will definitely make sure to stop again when I'm in the area!

Almost missed this gem! I'm so glad we didn't. We had a wonderful dinner here with our little family. My husband and I are pretty close to sushi snobs and our bar is set pretty high but this place definitely satisfied our bellies! We started with seaweed salad, miso soup, and sashimi sampler. We loved how the seaweed salad came atop of pickled daikon. It added well to the combination of flavors. The sashimi had great texture and tasted so fresh. Then, our two boys received their kids sushi meal that came out in these adorable boats with festive umbrellas in their oranges! They devoured everything! It had all their favorites which we would normally order for them: California rolls, edamame, and sliced oranges. For ourselves and oldest daughter, we ordered (2) sushi combo 1, Tako octopus, and a Rainbow roll. We also had hot sake because any time we eat raw fish we drink sake! You should too! To finish off, we ordered all 3 flavors of mochi ice cream: strawberry, mango, and green tea. We all agreed on strawberry being the best and among our more matured taste, we preferred green tea. We also ordered Daifuku Red Bean Mochi. This was a unique dessert that we don't often see on the menu so we had to try it too! Our youngest (3 yo) wasn't a fan but my husband, my oldest and I appreciated it. Don't miss out like I almost did

Great spot for dinner! So glad we stopped in. It's a bit off the beaten path and underwhelming on the outside, but inside is cute and clean and the food is fabulous!

Tried it for the first time and we will definitely come back! The best sushi rolls we've had in town with great choices for kids too.

Service was good, but the pad Thai was the worst. It wasn't pad Thai, just super salty soy noodles porridge. Don't order pad Thai.

Ichiban and I have a funny history. Let me explain: I was…read moreborn in Rapid City and spent half my childhood there. When I was maybe 5 or 6, I went to Ichiban for the first time with my dad and his friend. My dad used to come here a few times every week when we lived here- he even knew the owner and was well acquainted. But, I was a young American kid, trying sushi, which is a very hit or miss cuisine as it is. I hated it, and I remember trying an ice cream they had there (green tea I think), and it was a terrible experience. My 5 year old self never wanted to come back. Now, being a mature 20 year old (sometimes), I have developed quite a liking/ obsession with sushi. For Easter I was planning to see my family that still lives in Rapid City, so I wanted to go back to Ichiban to try and reverse my bad memories of dining there. This didn't turn out to be quite as glamorous of a turn around as I had hoped. Ichiban is a very casual Thai & sushi place, so you don't have to worry about looking nice or keeping it formal. The menu featured an insanely long list of special rolls, which made it very hard to choose. As much as it pains me to say, I was pretty disappointed in the food. "Da Bomb" roll was pretty decent- that was my favorite roll I tried. But all the other rolls, they were really average and just not high quality. I've had some pretty great sushi and Ichiban just did not hit that mark in any way. Even my dad, who used to come here all the time, agreed that it was a big let down and the quality of the food has plummeted since we lived in town. It's just really unfortunate. The service was decent, our waitress was an adorably smiley lady and she kept up with us well. And even though I now appreciate sushi for all it is, I still don't wish to come back to Ichiban if I have other options. Sigh.

First off let me say, we've ordered delivery from this restaurant (China wok) a few times. It's ok…read moreChinese food nothing special. If I was rating on just the food and delivery I would have given it a higher score. BUT, let me explain to you what happened tonight... My family and I were out and about and decided to stop in for an easy early dinner. As previously stated we've never been inside before, (only online ordered and delivered to our house.) It's a small restaurant with five little tables inside. When we walked in with our toddler in tow, there was no one there. Finally a man came out, saw us and yelled and another man came to the desk and said "what do you want to eat." Not a hello or anything. We ordered the fried dumplings, beef lo mein combo, four seasons, and a sushi special 3 rolls for 12.95. We had never tried the sushi here so thought we'd give it a try. We also bought a canned Pepsi. We were told that the sushi would take a little longer because they had to make it. We sat down and our food came out pretty fast. Like I said not absolutely horrible Chinese food but nothing to rave or get excited about. About 15 minutes into the meal I jokingly said to my husband "wouldn't it be hilarious if there reason the sushi takes longer is because they order it from somewhere else?" I shit you not, less than 5 minutes later a Honda pulled up out front and a dude came in with a plate of sushi covered in plastic wrap. We could literally see our three rolls on the plate. He took it straight to the back, there was brief yelling in Chinese. And the mysterious man in the Honda left sans the plate he entered with. There was a few awkward moments of someone banging around in the kitchen with a knife to make it seem like they were "cooking" and then TA-DA! Our sushi came out. Minus the plastic wrap on top. It WAS NOT GOOD SUSHI. We ordered a California roll, salmon roll, and Colorado roll. I took a picture of the salmon roll. WHERE WAS THE FUCKING SALMON? It was legit rice and seaweed that looked like a salmon farted on it. We didn't know what to do but laugh. They also have decent mood lighting. Only one bulb working in their wicked sweet chandelier. So I guess they have that going for them.

Ordered from here on DoorDash. I got food poisoning. I only ordered two orders of the pork fried…read morerice and one order of egg rolls. Currently praying to the porcelain gods
