Over cooked and no flavor and very dry! Nice employee but could work on food presentation

This unassuming little storefront is a hidden gem. It's a one-woman show and she's been in business here for 17 years and before that, in California for 23. The shrimp tempura appetizer was absolutely the best shrimp I've ever eaten. My Bibimbop was the perfect balance of veg/rice/protein and delicious. My husband ordered the pot stickers and combination platter for dinner and he couldn't actually finish all of it. Every bite was spectacular. Everything is made from scratch and I mean everything. The lady is so nice...always busy but frequently checking in. Try it! You will be glad you did. The pictures of satisfied customers all over the walls make it festive and homey. read more

I was looking for a decent Japanese restaurant so thought I would check it out - WOW! I will be back. We had ordered seaseme chicken meal with cucumber kimchi and a double order to veggie tempura. The lady that answered the phone was trying to rush us to order and very impatient. Our veggie tempura was under cooked and my seaseme chicken over cooked with mushy rice and hot vegetables salad. I was only able to eat the kimchi. We were highly disappointed and very unsatisfied with the service and food. This restaurant used to be awesome and now it is not worth it and would recommend staying away from it. read more

We have driven by Kang San numerous times, so we finally decided to try it. The food was amazing, it's a very small restaurant, we were the only one's there so service was very quick. Only issue was we went on a very hot day and there was no air conditioning or if there was it was very minimal so it was uncomfortably hot in there. My husband and son got the beef stir fry with noodles and my daughter got chicken stir fry with noodles. I ordered the Sesame Chicken Lunch box (came with a side salad and rice) this was absolutely amazing! The breading on the chicken was crunchy and had an amazing flavor. My husband said he's getting that when we go back. We also tried fried and steamed potatoes stickers, shrimp tempura, cabbage and cucumber kimchee. The proportions are VERY large especially for the price. We have been craving it and wanting to go back, just going to wait until the temperature cools down a little. read more

Small and modest, tucked away but very busy during lunch time. A local favorite Im told by airmen across the street at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Try the BiBinBap. The udon has the most comforting soup. Worth it to go and support this local gem. The owner knows a lot of customers by their first name. Love that. read more

Awesome awesome place! The food is just incredible. The local family that has been running it from day one are just the sweetest people ever. I sadly am not in impressed with the portion vs. the price. Very very small portions. I would not recommend the 15 dollar soup.... you literally get a small bowl. Absolutely Great Food, some of the Best I've has from all over. Guess depending on if you have a certain taste for Japanese and Korean style, she makes everything homemade sauce. Number 36 I highly recommend for the Beef lovers, we've just ordered 3 time's. That's our favorite personally. I was super excited to see an Asian establishment serving Korean dishes in the area, but It all goes down hill when you receive dead salad lettuce from a Walmart bag with ranch as sides with bland meat that's probably been steamed due to it not having any type of char or crust. Small operation, big flavor. I had the Lunch special, Korean beef which came with rice and a salad. Everything was fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. The facility is a bit run down and cramped, but that doesn't keep the woman who works there from cranking out good food. I will definitely return to try more items. read more

The iced tea is really good--fresh made oriental-style tea poured over ice. Bi-bim-bop (meat and veggie bowl) was full of marinated beef, fresh veg, kimchee and rice. Pretty decent place.. The menu is pretty small and so is the restaurant. The food is really good although they don't have traditional bul-go-gi which was weird. You would think a Korean restaurant would have that dish. They did have bi-bim-bap though which is one of my fav Korean dishes so that made up for it. Also no matter how busy it is or what and how much you order they wait is almost always 15mins lol its ran by one lady and her daughter from what I've seen so it's pretty impressive. Haven't had a chance to go back for any pics but it's worth the visit of your on base. read more

Really good, my only complaint is the place isn't always open when I feel it should be, or when it says it's supposed to be. But the food is always good. Korean food is one of my favorite kinds, so it's nice to have it here. Other bases we have been to didn't have good local Korean, so I'm thankful. read more
