I hated it, and I remember trying an ice cream they had there (green tea I think), and it was a terrible experience. My 5 year old self never wanted to come back. Now, being a mature 20 year old (sometimes), I have developed quite a liking/ obsession with sushi. For Easter I was planning to see my family that still lives in Rapid City, so I wanted to go back to Ichiban to try and reverse my bad memories of dining there. This didn't turn out to be quite as glamorous of a turn around as I had hoped. Ichiban is a very casual Thai & sushi place, so you don't have to worry about looking nice or keeping it formal. The menu featured an insanely long list of special rolls, which made it very hard to choose. As much as it pains me to say, I was pretty disappointed in the food. "Da Bomb" roll was pretty decent- that was my favorite roll I tried. But all the other rolls, they were really average and just not high quality. I've had some pretty great sushi and Ichiban just did not hit that mark in any way. Even my dad, who used to come here all the time, agreed that it was a big let down and the quality of the food has plummeted since we lived in town. It's just really unfortunate. The service was decent, our waitress was an adorably smiley lady and she kept up with us well.
