What can I say???? Super good! I went for Pho mainly. I was going to try a different restaurant the day before called Pho Vietnam, but they put a bad taste in my mouth before I could even try it. I'm glad I didn't, and I'm glad I tried this place instead. Menu has a good selection. Seems like also some Chinese American food. I got a Thai tea; which was amazing. I ordered a grilled beef banh mi that came with a side salad! Sooo big and huge.. Then I ordered steak pho with tendon... I ordered a small and it was more than enough. Good portions, flavorful and had some good depth. Good amount of veggies to add to pho.. I dipped my banh mi into the pho and that takes it to another level. It was nice inside the restaurant, the ambiance was nice and calm...service was good and helpful. I couldn't finish all my food and was able to pack it all up. I will definitely return. read more

I always try to support local restaurants, and I was excited to give Pacific Rim a try. The first thing that stood out was the restaurant itself--the ambiance is very nice, clean, and inviting. On a beautiful summer Friday evening during tourist season, I was a little surprised it wasn't busier because the space creates a great first impression. We ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef, spring rolls, and two boba teas. The sauces on both entrées had good flavor, but unfortunately the proteins were the weak point of the meal. The chicken was fair, but the beef was extremely tough and dry. The texture was so chewy that it almost felt like beef jerky that had been rehydrated in sauce. The rice also didn't seem fresh and fluffy as I would have expected. The spring rolls were easily the best part of the meal. They were fresh, flavorful, and the highlight of everything we ordered. The boba teas were a bit underwhelming. They were so sweet that the sweetness completely overpowered the tea flavor, making it difficult to appreciate the drink itself. Our total came to about $64, including a 15% tip on a pickup order. At that price point, I expected better quality and value, especially considering the portion size of the Mongolian Beef. I genuinely want local restaurants to succeed, and Pacific Rim has a nice atmosphere and some promising flavors. However, based on this experience, the quality did not match the price. I think more attention to ingredient freshness and execution would go a long way. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, because I'd like to see the food live up to the potential of the restaurant itself. read more

The restaurant does Asian cuisine, from Vietnamese to Thai to Chinese. It was a cold windy day with snow flurries and pho sounded good. There was only one waitress and she was kept busy. We stopped here for dinner since we are spending the night in this town. The waitress took our order, and we have to wait forever to get our foods. when we got our foods, it came one dish at a time and waited for like 10 minutes for another dish. the food didn't taste good at all. the pad thai they advertised as just added to their menu looked nothing like the picture and tasted nothing like pad thai. It tasted very bland and salty. Hi the pho combination's broth tasted so plain that i just tried to eat some beef out of it and couldn't even force myself to eat the pho noodles. the mongolian beef tasted just like soysauce dumped in. We are visiting from Southern California during the end of Sturgis rally week. We had done our research ahead of time to find pho restaurants each city we're staying at. Had we not done our research, I would have thought, Pacific Rim Cafe was a Hawaiian restaurant not Vietnamese. When we walked in, it definitely hit you with the spices and pho aroma. We ordered the rice plate with pork and beef grilled meat. Also a combo pho dish. Both dishes were pleasantly good. This exceeded my expectations of a small town. The pork was better than the beef. Skip the Thai food or at least the pad Thai. It's very beige, bland, and dry. You'll have to add sauce at a minimum, but also spice. If you've ever enjoyed pad Thai, this won't taste like what you liked. That said, prices are reasonable and staff are quick at service. I wish I can give better rating for this restaurant. When we entered we can tell the place was pretty full, and some tables weren't cleaned up. There were only 2 servers running around getting orders, and taking the food to the tables. We got seated, and it took the servers another 10 minutes or so to clean other tables. There was a customer waiting for a take out, but he must have been waiting for a while because when the food came out the server was apologetic and offered him a free drink. Our order was taken fairly quickly, and the food actually came out pretty fast. During the whole time the servers were still running around. All of us ordered grilled pork bun (vermicelli), and an order of spring rolls. The grilled pork bun tasted well, but pork was a bit too salty, and the spring rolls tasted good, but they were very greasy. As we were finishing up a bus load of Vietnamese tourists came in, and I cannot forget the look on the servers' faces (they looked incredulous). I wished I could have helped them at that point, I felt so bad for them. Coming from a fairly large Vietnamese community I felt they could have done a better job, and the price point was high. However, I understand it must not be easy to get certain ingredients, and some times you have to cater to non Asian palates. read more

While on vacation, my family was looking for something besides a bar and grill and decided to look for some Thai food. Pacific Rim was close to our hotel and so we stopped in to order take out. Staff were accommodating with us just walking in and helped get our order in right away. We decided to try the Shrimp Pad Thai, a few orders of Spring Rolls, and an order of Crab Rangoon. All of the food was fresh, hot, and tasty. The Spring Rolls were huge and the Crab Rangoon puffs were choke full of crab meat and a larger than average size as well. These Crab Rangoons were actually some of the best I have had in quite some time. Portion sizes were very generous and the pricing was super affordable because of that. For being in the middle of South Dakota, Pacific Rim managed to put out some decent Thai food. read more

I have visited many Vietnamese restaurants in my lifetime this is by far one of the best. That's my short answer. The broth is the Pho was so good, the flavor was so prominent, the brisket was so flavorful, compared to other Pho I have eaten this brisket had the most flavor I have ever had. The egg rolls are flavorful as well, crunchy and packed full of pork and mushrooms. Service was great, the staff was kind and humble. We were quickly greeted and had our drinks served (hot green tea and water). We ordered four entrees: Large Chicken pho, it had lots of chicken, but they were out of fresh basil, so the flavor was off. Vietnamese pad Thai (no peanut sauce, but soy sauce, with lots of chicken and veggies), it was ok, but missed the Thai hot spicy flavor and peanut sauce and egg. We were staying at one of a watiki waterpark hotels after 2 weeks traveling through Wyoming and South Dakota and I was over the steakhouses and fried foods we had enjoyed. My husband picked up rare beef pho and chicken lo mein for my son, and it was so so good. Great, fresh herbs for a flavorful broth, excellent meat. My son really liked the lo mein though it had more veggies in it than he wanted (we ate those for him) and they had a child's plate that sounded great, but my youngest just wanted a bowl of cereal for dinner so we let him. We ordered spring rolls, veggie + tofu fried rice, and the Vietnamese Pad Thai. I left with a brown sugar boba tea. The spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was perfectly thick and tangy. The fried rice was the best I've ever had -- the tofu was crispy, the veggies not over or underdone. The Vietnamese Pad Thai was a slight twist on the traditional Pad Thai we all know and love. Overall, just a great dining experience! Those who complain about the pace of this restaurant can (respectfully) shove it. They're doing their best, the service is great, and they're likely working with low staffing (as is every restaurant). Be patient -- it's totally worth it! :) P.S. There are even a couple of parking spaces with shade, a bonus in the summer heat! We both loved it so much, we went back for lunch a second time the week we stayed in Rapid City.
