I always try to support local restaurants, and I was excited to give Pacific Rim a try. The first thing that stood out was the restaurant itself--the ambiance is very nice, clean, and inviting. On a beautiful summer Friday evening during tourist season, I was a little surprised it wasn't busier because the space creates a great first impression. We ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef, spring rolls, and two boba teas. The sauces on both entrées had good flavor, but unfortunately the proteins were the weak point of the meal. The chicken was fair, but the beef was extremely tough and dry. The texture was so chewy that it almost felt like beef jerky that had been rehydrated in sauce. The rice also didn't seem fresh and fluffy as I would have expected. The spring rolls were easily the best part of the meal. They were fresh, flavorful, and the highlight of everything we ordered. The boba teas were a bit underwhelming. They were so sweet that the sweetness completely overpowered the tea flavor, making it difficult to appreciate the drink itself. Our total came to about $64, including a 15% tip on a pickup order. At that price point, I expected better quality and value, especially considering the portion size of the Mongolian Beef. I genuinely want local restaurants to succeed, and Pacific Rim has a nice atmosphere and some promising flavors. However, based on this experience, the quality did not match the price. I think more attention to ingredient freshness and execution would go a long way. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, because I'd like to see the food live up to the potential of the restaurant itself.
This was a great find! We enjoyed a quick dinner here and everyone enjoyed it Very nice quick service And the food was delicious, with a very attractive pricing this is a great choice
The restaurant does Asian cuisine, from Vietnamese to Thai to Chinese. It was a cold windy day with snow flurries and pho sounded good. There was only one waitress and she was kept busy. Multiple tables were not bussed. Our food came out quickly though. The broth was sweet, but overall I was satisfied. I also ordered spring rolls to go and enjoyed them the next day.
Decent pho place in Rapid City. They have a lot of other Asian selections. The service is good and there's plenty of parking. I would recommend when you're in Rapid City and craving Asian food!
Pacific Rim cafe Decent pho. Broth was excellent. Could be better but ok for being so far away from the Asian community. The presentation was perfect. Condiments were spot on. The meat was perfect. Even had tripe. Lots of meat. Pork meatballs. Well done. FYI, this was my second opinion. Our suggestion pho places was closed because of the usual Vietnamese close day. Highly recommended
We are visiting from Southern California during the end of Sturgis rally week. We had done our research ahead of time to find pho restaurants each city we're staying at. Had we not done our research, I would have thought, Pacific Rim Cafe was a Hawaiian restaurant not Vietnamese. When we walked in, it definitely hit you with the spices and pho aroma. We ordered the rice plate with pork and beef grilled meat. Also a combo pho dish. Both dishes were pleasantly good. This exceeded my expectations of a small town. The pork was better than the beef. Had a thicker seasoning. The pho broth was really light, wasn't as beefy but with lime and condiments, I was able to get it to how I like it.
Skip the Thai food or at least the pad Thai. It's very beige, bland, and dry. You'll have to add sauce at a minimum, but also spice. If you've ever enjoyed pad Thai, this won't taste like what you liked. That said, prices are reasonable and staff are quick at service. It's not a bad experience, just needs improvement on food.

There were only 2 servers running around getting orders, and taking the food to the tables. We got seated, and it took the servers another 10 minutes or so to clean other tables. There was a customer waiting for a take out, but he must have been waiting for a while because when the food came out the server was apologetic and offered him a free drink. Our order was taken fairly quickly, and the food actually came out pretty fast. During the whole time the servers were still running around. All of us ordered grilled pork bun (vermicelli), and an order of spring rolls. The grilled pork bun tasted well, but pork was a bit too salty, and the spring rolls tasted good, but they were very greasy. As we were finishing up a bus load of Vietnamese tourists came in, and I cannot forget the look on the servers' faces (they looked incredulous). I wished I could have helped them at that point, I felt so bad for them. Coming from a fairly large Vietnamese community I felt they could have done a better job, and the price point was high. However, I understand it must not be easy to get certain ingredients, and some times you have to cater to non Asian palates.
Food I ordered small size combination pho. The soup is not too salty nor bland, just about right in taste and not oily either. It tasted good. The meat they used for brisket is lean. What can I say???? Super good! I went for Pho mainly. I was going to try a different restaurant the day before called Pho Vietnam, but they put a bad taste in my mouth before I could even try it. I'm glad I didn't, and I'm glad I tried this place instead. Menu has a good selection. Seems like also some Chinese American food. I got a Thai tea; which was amazing. I ordered a grilled beef banh mi that came with a side salad! Sooo big and huge.. Then I ordered steak pho with tendon... I ordered a small and it was more than enough. Good portions, flavorful and had some good depth. Good amount of veggies to add to pho.. I dipped my banh mi into the pho and that takes it to another level. It was nice inside the restaurant, the ambiance was nice and calm...service was good and helpful. I couldn't finish all my food and was able to pack it all up. I will definitely return. read more

Pacific Rim cafe Decent pho. Broth was excellent. Could be better but ok for being so far away from the Asian community. The presentation was perfect. Condiments were spot on. The meat was perfect. I have visited many Vietnamese restaurants in my lifetime this is by far one of the best. That's my short answer. The broth is the Pho was so good, the flavor was so prominent, the brisket was so flavorful, compared to other Pho I have eaten this brisket had the most flavor I have ever had. The egg rolls are flavorful as well, crunchy and packed full of pork and mushrooms. Service was great, the staff was kind and humble. Highly recommend that when you visit Rapid City that you experience some of the best Pho around. read more

Nice small and cozy restaurant. I was greeted when I entered, and promptly seated. Waters arrived quickly. I ordered the Vietnamese Phad Thai...a cup of soup arrived within moments. The entree arrived moments later, steaming hot, and quite flavorful. I felt like I had visited this restaurant before...in any event I will visit them again. I feel like this restaurant is a family owned business...making it another reason to give them a try. Excellent customer service, tasty food. read more
We decided to find a quick Sunday dinner in Rapid City, we found it very close to our hotel. The place clean and the decor is simple. We were quickly greeted and had our drinks served (hot green tea and water). We ordered four entrees: Large Chicken pho, it had lots of chicken, but they were out of fresh basil, so the flavor was off. Vietnamese pad Thai (no peanut sauce, but soy sauce, with lots of chicken and veggies), it was ok, but missed the Thai hot spicy flavor and peanut sauce and egg. Cold noodles salad with grilled shrimp (nicely done). Rice and fresh salad (just ok). Overall it was an ok experience. read more

We had take out from them while spending time in Rapid City. Udon noodles with tofu, pad thai with shrimp and fresh roll with fried tofu. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. You also get s complimentary soup with the order. Nice thing that they have a pickup window, so no need to enter the restaurant. Very convenient. read more
Stopped by here for dinner before checking into our hotel for the night. We were seated right away and all the workers were wearing masks. The waitress exchanged one of our appetizer plate last because it wasn't washed properly, but she was extremely apologetic about it. The pho was good! My friend got the combination and i got the brisket, some of the meat were a bit chewy but the broth was good! Perfect meal for a rainy and cold day! read more

We're here from TN camping. This place is worth the drive from Black Hills. It was delicious. I did order it vegan but they put egg in mine. I tried to pick the egg out. It really was good but I couldn't finish because I couldn't get all the egg out. I'm allergic. Oh well a reminder to open the container and check it. read more

Just moved to town for school and was looking for some great eats! This place was great! Food had lots of flavor and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered the Mongolian beef and a bowl of Pho, as well as a Thai tea and it was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning. read more

I've decided that my new motto is: Fried rice, full hearts, can't lose. This place is lovely. The staff was friendly and the food was deeeeeeelish. We ordered spring rolls, veggie + tofu fried rice, and the Vietnamese Pad Thai. I left with a brown sugar boba tea. The spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was perfectly thick and tangy. The fried rice was the best I've ever had -- the tofu was crispy, the veggies not over or underdone. The Vietnamese Pad Thai was a slight twist on the traditional Pad Thai we all know and love. Overall, just a great dining experience! Those who complain about the pace of this restaurant can (respectfully) shove it. They're doing their best, the service is great, and they're likely working with low staffing (as is every restaurant). Be patient -- it's totally worth it! :) P.S. I'm a boba tea addict, and their tea is GREAT. read more
