Recently moved into town a few weeks ago. The first dinner we had at our new place after closing on a home that same day was Chinese take out. Coming from northern jersey, where things are more diverse with food choices, we wanted to try how chinese cuisine would be like now that we're in a new town. I must say, if you never had northern jersey Asian cuisines whether it be sushi, Filipino/Korean/Thai, etc - nothing compares - no argument. Northern Jersey wins it. But then comes Golden Crown, if I had to say it, I would say 7 out of 10 of similar tasting compare to what were used to up north. The only minor compliant is the price difference. Higher than what were used to paying for a party of 5. Again, this is no big deal, I like to support small local businesses during this time of the pandemic. As long as the owner continue to provide delicious somewhat authentic "clean" food - I'm all for it! read more

Best Chinese food we have tried in the Jackson area! So far, we have gone through about 5 Chinese food places before finding this place on a whim and it is now our go-to place for Chinese food. Maybe we are just used to this 'type' of Chinese food, maybe we are just used to 'good' Chinese food. The General Tzo chicken was perfect with extra spice. The sweet and sour chicken was perfect (it's amazing how this 'easy' one was messed up at other places). The fried cheese wontons were not only cheaper than other places, they were far better and came in bite sizes! The food was quick and hot/fresh. No complaints - thanks! Today I ordered two lunch specials, both poorly proportioned and sadly only about three thin slice of beef, some onion slivers, you get the picture, and some kind of tiny rice that were to be fried rice colored with soy sauce and a few thin shrimp rolls. The grand total was over seventeen dollars. This was not what I expected in chinese food. It was close to something you could buy in the supermarket, thats how poorly this was made. There are a bunch of Chinese places to choose from in this town, we try the others and almost always go right back to Golden Crown. Pick up or Take out are always ready in minutes. I like to get adventurous with the menu and try some of the chef specialties and i have not been disappointed. This has been my chinese take-out spot of choice growing up in Jackson. I think the food is great here. Prices are what you would expect. No dining in, but they get your food made very quickly. May not look like much, but as long as you get your food fast, who cares. Usually just order the common stuff: Sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, steamed dumplings, fried rice, and egg rolls. All delicious. We needed something to eat after a long drive - I read the reviews for them and we decided to check this place out. There is one table with four chairs (needs updating ). The place could stand for a cleaning. The service was fast and friendly, supplies are at hand - spoons, knifes , forks, sauces - paper napkins - foam dishes. Drinks were in short supply. We ordered two of the same dishes - Chicken Fried Rice - each was a little different - my rice was brown in color and clumped together - the chicken was also brownish in color. The chicken was not sliced up in equal pieces like them use to, they appeared like torn pieces. The favor was just ok - but overall falls short of what a call great Chinese food. Have been here over the year. I think that the food has gone downhill the general tso's and the Sesame chicken are the same sauce , the only difference I found was sesame seeds. They taste the same, there is no flavor difference. Also I always get the hot and sour soup, did not taste hot at all, there was no heat to the soup, I think it is time to try a new place read more

I ordered delivery and was very happy about the product. I ordered general tso's chicken and also had some lobster lo mein and dumplings and an egg roll and some cookies. Usually we get Chinese from wok and took but I wanted true Chinese food and I chose the right place to go. The lo mein was true noodles and not everything was half rice unlike the combos at wok and roll. The egg rolls were just like how I remembered when I was a kid. The dumpling with the ginger sauce were succulent. The lo mein with the lobster was juicy and the noodles were tender and the vegetables were crunchy. Lastly the General tso's chicken was amazing when I opened the container ther was three times as more chicken then wok and roll and covered in sauce and that was what made wok and rolls chicken obsolete. In conclusion I will come here instead of wok and roll everytime. read more

Was craving for Chinese food, since were at the butterfly camping resort for the weekend. Saw this place at a shopping and decided to give it a try since I use yelp for everything including mainly restaurant. But their is below average, their fried rice was very mushy and tasteless. I have been buying Chinese food at golden crown for almost 10 years. The place is small and therefore cramped but not dirty. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Their chicken broth used in several soups is particularly robust and good. read more

I agree. After trying several other chinese food take outs and resturaunts in the area I seem to always go back to the Golden Crown. I feel my expectations are usually met, never dissapointed but not super wow'd either... In general I have a difficult time finding good food of any kind in Jackson, unfortunately.. But for chinese this seem to be the place that i am always the most satisfied. I am from originally north Jersey and I am so used to having a chinese food place or italian food place on every corner lol so it's hard for me to have to search high and low for other resturaunts in Jackson since they are all about a 15 minute drive... Lost my business! Usually pick up my food, but today had it delivered. Gave a $2.00 tip for delivery on top of the $1.00 delivery charge. The delivery guy fanned through the money and then proceeded to reprimand me that $2.00 was not enough and I should give him $2.50 to $3.00. I couldn't believe my ears!! My husband was standing with me and reached in wallet and we gave him an add'l $2.00 (just because we couldn't believe the nerve of this guy!). As he walked away from my door, I told him he was out of line. I asked if he was a member of the family who owned the business in which he replied, "I'm the owner". I got on the phone and called Golden Crown and as I suspected, he is not the owner. I asked to speak to the owner, but was told he wasn't there. VERY BAD BUSINESS WHEN YOU HAVE SOMEONE WORKING FOR YOU THAT CHALLENGES THE CUSTOMER ON THE TIP AMOUNT. ALSO, MISREPRESENTS HIMSELF AS THE OWNER. SHAME ON HIM!!!!
