I've been coming to Hunan Wok since I was a kid, and it's always been a local favorite. Since the new owners took over, though, the experience has gotten even better. The managers are incredibly kind, welcoming, and always make customers feel appreciated. The food quality has noticeably improved while still keeping the flavors I've loved for years. And the crab rangoons are absolutely to die for--perfectly crispy, packed with flavor, and easily some of the best I've ever had. I drive far for good Chinese and read the reviews before I go. This place is my top 2 Chinese food. So FLAVORFUL you wouldn't believe it. I've had some crusty dried Bonless spare ribs from Chinese places in Jackson and I can say that they make them so GOOD! The steamed pork dumplings are always a must when I order. Having just moved into the area and already being disappointed by a different Chinese food place, we tried Hunan Wok. They were pleasant in the phone and in person when I picked up the food. Food was ready fairly quickly, as well. Our combination platters and soup were delicious! The only thing we weren't thrilled with was the crab rangoon so we probably wouldn't order this again. Got the cold sesame noodles, pork fried rice and chicken with broccoli and was happy with everything. Easy ordering on the Yelp app and fast delivery. Excellent! I don't normally eat Chinese food but my family loves it. So we ordered and the food was delicious and freash. Very tasty and the driver was super friendly and cordial even though it wasn't easy finding our house. He shook my brothers hand and hugged me. Very nice. Worst service, I order food online was told an hour for delivery then was told it was gonna be and extra hour and a half So we decided that we were going to cancel the order because it was too long of a wait the lady agreed to 30 minutes if we kept our order so we did. 30 minutes goes by the driver comes pounding at our front door then pounding on our window. As we proceed to pay him he starts mouthing off to my sister and I hear it so I come to the door to find out what he's yelling about telling us that they were super busy which I completely understand but there's no need to yell at somebody. Horrible horrible horrible! I order shrimp pad Thai and received noodles in hot sauce and water. It had baby shrimp that looked like the add water kind. It was so gross I had to throw it in the garbage. I hate wasting food but it was so bad I could in good conscience give it to anyone., not even a homeless person. I've tried every Chinese restaurant in town over the years, and this is the best Chinese take out in Jackson. They are super friendly and also give free food at specific dollar points ($15, $25, etc.) and you don't even need a coupon. Their wonton soup is fantastic. We also love their chicken with broccoli because the sauce is so nice and dark. The sweet and sour chicken is perfect and not greasy. My husband loves their General Tso's -- he says it's as good as the sit-down chinese restaurant we eat at in Freehold, and that's hard to find as a take out place. The only thing I could say is certain days of the week the food is better than others, so maybe weekday nights they have a different cook than weekends? Otherwise I'd give this place 5 stars. read more

Ordered over 50.00 worth of food. Asked for fried rice instead of white rice with sweet sour chicken was told it comes with white rice. Clearly she didn't want to up charge us like all others would do. Also ordered sesame chicken no broccoli. We received 2 orders of general Tso's chicken. Called them up, same girl on the phone insisted we received sesame chicken and no sesame chicken. Both with broccoli. She insisted she sent sesame chicken. After having to argue with her, we asked her if it was sesame chicken, why did it not have sesame seeds? She said they forgot to put sesame seeds on it. She just wanted to argue and did not want to make the order right. She absolutely refused to do anything about sending the wrobg ordet and send us sesame chicken we wanted. We told her she could fix the order or we would never order from her again after being so frustrated with her refusal to send food we paid for. She didn't care and didn't replace the wrong order. The chicken was bland. The vegetable rolls tasted old. Food was not good at all, threw most of it out. Hapoy family seafood tasted bad. ZERO customer service. We've ordered from Hunan Wok many times over our 7yrs living here. While we are generally happy with the food, it does tend to be inconsistent. We stopped ordering delivery for a long time after they screwed up our order on 3 separate occasions. If you're close enough go, pick up from Wok N Roll, the Food is much better, they just don't deliver. Here's one huge problem as we see it.... You cannot have an 11 yr old kid/owners daughter answering phones and taking orders! Wrong orders, wrong sizes and charged wrong prices. By the time my husband has to argue for them to correct it, the rest of the food gets cold. When you get tired of arguing with the child, she transfers you to someone who doesn't understand/speak English. We're sorry for the delivery man who surely has to go thru hell between angry customers and re-delivery. We don't blame him at all. As you can see from another recent complaint, the argumentative order taking child is hurting their business. But it's apparent they don't understand or care. We're done. read more

Ordered food an hour and 20 minutes ago online.....after calling them back, driver stated "he was out our house and knocked on the door"... we have 3 dogs, and our garage door was wide open....if someone knocked, our dogs would've went nuts.....needless to say they told us that it would be another 25 minutes for food delivery....... Ordered food online, after a hour I called to see where it was. The girl I spoke with was completely rude. She said it will be out soon, can you wait another 20 min. I said do I have a choice? I said nothing you can do to get it here sooner, she said no but you can pick it up. I said we are sick that's why we ordered in. NO apology, just rudeness. When I food arrived 90 minutes in total later it was steaming hot! I think they didnt check the online portal and didnt realize I placed an order until I called asking about it. If that was the case a simple OMG I just saw your order I am so sorry I will get it our right away would have been the better answer then what I was told! I am so disappointed! Hunan Wok has the best General Tso's Chicken! It has a great taste and also I like the Shu Mai. It's so good. My favorite dish is the Lo Mein. I've tried many other Chinese Resturants in Jackson, but this one is the best one! read more
