We had used Javier over 15 years ago to completely remodel a 1940's era kitchen in our Alamo home…read more He also did some seismic repairs as well. We were completely happy with the work he performed. We recently contacted him again to do a complete make over of a 700 sq. ft. space that we use as a guest room. Once again we were completely happy with the work performed by Javier and his excellent crew. The highlight of the work performed was the stunning redo of the bathroom. It was a complete demo of the old bathroom and the results were fantastic. Everyone who has seen it and remembered the old bathroom were amazed at the results. Some specific highlights of the work performed on the project: All of the workers Javier used on the project were outstanding. They were, polite, skilled and cooperative. Javier was always available at critical points in the project. We were especially impressed with the painting that was done. It was equal to that of any painting contractor. They always completely cleaned up and hauled away all trash. Not a trivial item. They performed several tasks that were not included in the work order. In one case a sofa bed delivered by Ikea for the room was left unassembled even though we had paid Ikea to do so. (still have not resolved this with Ikea). Javier's workers put it together for us. In another case; we had ordered carpeting from Home Depot and they were to move the furniture out of the room and remove the old carpeting. They showed up a day late with only one installer. It was clear that one person was not going to be able to do all of that. The installer left without notice even though Javier's crew offered to help him. In order to keep on schedule Javier's crew removed the old carpet and moved all of the furniture out of the room. Home Depot did show up the next day with 2 installers and because they didn't have to any other work got the carpet installed. Probably would not use them again. In conclusion we would not hesitate to recommend Javier to anyone who wants a quality remodel experience. Pat and Pam M

Problem solved! 5 years later, the flange was leaking and the ceiling downstairs is dripping. The toilet was glued to the floor with RTV and that was hiding a massive leak! Turns out they shoved in two wax rings on top of each other, and there was a cone that restricted the drain down to about 3". The cone prevented a flush from dropping immediately down the drain, and the wax ring sandwich leaked! The cone also caused a lot of clogs over the years. Now I have an almost $6,000 plumbing repair, I have to patch my ceiling, and I have a mold issue! There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it twice! I also found old cans of Modelo in my attic after the flip!

They were on it. Since they have carpenters, mud and texture guys, electricians, plumbers, HVAC, you name it, They would send who needed to be here at what time to make the process as speedy as possible, showed up when they said they would and worked until the project was done! Everyone who was sent out was very friendly and respectful, also leaving my place clean when they left for the day. I would receive almost daily logs of who was here from what time to what time, reports of progress including photos and estimations of percentage of each piece that was left to do, and how close we were to the projected estimate. Everything turned out beautiful and works perfectly for what I wanted to use it for. I will definitely be calling them in the future with any and all construction needs. Thanks Good Guys!!

I hired Mark for a medium-sized remodeling project (about 6 weeks) . He provided a low estimate…read morecompared to other bids. He then said that his workers were all covered by Worker's Comp, among other benefits, and that he paid a fair wage, and that he was the most ethical contractor in the industry, resulting in his workers' being highly productive and efficient leading to shorter project times. This sealed the deal for me. Furthermore, he claimed that the extra 30% or so that he was billing for his workers, was due of the worker's comp insurance, which only he provided to his workers (as opposed to the many unscrupulous other contractors that were around). As a property owner, you could be held liable for workers' injuries if the contractor did not carry worker's comp, and so, I agreed to Mark's deal. Within a few days, Mark had exceeded the estimate he had quoted, and was very difficult to get hold of. Furthermore, his workers would come and go at all times of the day (between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm) and I simply lost track of how many "cooks" were in the kitchen. As of last count, I noticed some 15+ names on the invoices, and some would appear for a couple of hours, and then disappear. But Mark would send me invoices claiming that his workers spent the entire day at the property - which was simply untrue. Mark would not be interested in even listening to me or investigating my grievances. Instead, he would brag that he did me a big favor by accepting my project, and that he typically only did multi-million dollar gigs, and not pittances like mine. Long story short, the project budget exceeded the estimate by more than 100%. Mark became extremely aggressive and feisty, and it was impossible to work or reason with him. I hired a Private Investigator to find out who this person really was -- like a Dr. Jekyl Mr. Hyde. Turns out that he had been sued for fraud, but more importantly, the whole worker's comp, fairness, ethical contractor, and so on, charade, was ALL ONE BIG LIE. It also appears that Mark may have left the Better Business Bureau due to bad reviews and that he may have hired a reputation defending company to increase his Yelp reviews to 5 stars by questionable tactics. Good Guy Builders license has been suspended for Worker's Comp violations and is under investigation. After my PI reported this, I found on the CSLB site: "License is under suspension for failure to comply with Workers Comp. A workers´ compensation certificate or exemption statement may have been received by the Board but not yet processed. Once the certificate or exemption statement is processed the suspension will be lifted retroactively to the effective date of the certificate or exemption statement. Ask the contractor for proof of worker's compensation and contact the insurance company to verify coverage." Here is the URL: https://www.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/LicenseDetail.aspx?LicNum=1016932 Please see image below. This is one of the greatest betrayals where I was charged an arm and a leg, and told a romantic story of workers being taken good care of, and so on, all the while, when Mark was simply pocketing the money that was supposed to cover his workers' safety and well being. Such greed, deception, and dishonesty, in my opinion, does not deserve a second chance. You decide whether you want to hire this company and deal with Mark. --- Addendum to Mr. Santosh R's note: 1. I am a real person. I was threatened by Mark that I would be sued if I posted anything negative on Yelp. 2. Yes, I did edit my posts before finally settling on one. Anyone in my position would do the same. 3. Finally, the facts remain unchanged. Good Guy Builder's license is under suspension and this may be independently verified on the CSLB website (see link). Likewise, the lawsuits against them may be independently verified. People like Santosh and Mark are the real culprits who boost their yelp ratings in a manner that skews it in their favor - by attacking anyone who posts negative reviews, and threatening those in dispute with defamation lawsuits. Do not believe anything Santosh or Mark say. The suspension is more than ample evidence that Good Guy Builders is a crooked business and not one that you should be patronizing.

We can't believe this is our house! We've had a couple of friends hire him now to do their projects! Travis walked into our patched-together 50 year old house and understood our vision for opening up the floor plan and letting more light in. He worked within our budget to draw up a quote that met our vision, while also recommending items that could easily be isolated and saved for a later project date without having to re-do any of this initial work (like refacing the fireplace, re-doing the back patio). He was patient and helpful through the architect and permitting phase and had great recommendations for local cabinet, tile and plumbing stores that allowed us to get great quality finishes within our budget. Every sub-contractor that he brought in for specialized pieces like our master shower tile, shower glass, flooring and insulation were friendly and did absolutely top of the line work. He is also very clever at figuring out solutions to curveballs that our house threw and could take our crazy Pinterest pictures and piece them together to build custom solutions like the bench in the master shower. Overall our project included a major overhaul and upgrade to our electrical panel / electrical service to the street, major plumbing upgrades, new windows, a master bathroom addition and a complete interior paint/flooring refresh and remodel including a complete kitchen remodel (with removing load bearing walls to create an open concept) and hall bath remodel. Our house of 16 years is now a sturdy, safe home we can spend the next 50 years in - Travis didn't cut any corners and understood that this needs to be our dream home that will last "generations" as he put it. He's an honest guy with old fashioned values and you just won't find a better team to take on your project.

I discovered A M Green Construction via an invoice that was part of disclosure documentation for…read morethe house that was purchased in June 2016. After reviewing the invoice and the work that was done as part of that project, which included the total removal of a 2nd floor balcony (and outdoor stairs that went from the 2nd floor to ground level) and converting a door to a window, I felt confident that my project could be easily accomplished by him and his team. The project, in this case, was the conversion of a bedroom into a media room, complete with running several cables within the walls to opposite sides of the room and the mounting of a projector and speakers. I also had some minor work requested, which included the removal of various coaxial cable ports from parts of the house and the mounting of a work of art on the ceiling in the living room. Alfredo came to my house to walk through the space and further understand what I was asking, which was great, particularly since he provided recommendations that I hadn't considered regarding just how many cables I could stuff inside the walls and where they would come out, and whether or not it would make sense for certain batches of cables to share the same exit port. I found it fun discussing the possibilities, and he was straightforward with me regarding what was possible and what didn't entirely make sense. A few days after the walkthrough, Alfredo provided a quote via email, which was adjusted once to account for an HDMI cable run that was mistakenly omitted. About a week after accepting the quote, Alfredo and his crew of two additional men arrived to begin the work. Before getting into the details of the work itself, I must note that they started working on this project on a Sunday - this was a big deal to me since I've found many construction companies rarely start projects on Sundays, or even work on Sunday's at all; big kudos to Alfredo on this front! So throughout Sunday, this crew worked almost nonstop for 8 hours - with a single 30 minute break for lunch that I ordered for them - coordinating between the attic space and the media room to cut holes in the wall and ceiling while running the cable batches to where they needed. Additionally, they added new electrical sockets for the projector and receiver, thus eliminating any need for running power cables to the pre-existing sockets. They even successfully rerouted an old coaxial cable that was originally running along the floor across the room, moving it to inside the wall - another great convenience. Throughout Sunday, I felt comfortable communicating with the crew, answering clarification questions when needed, and they were willing to answer my questions regarding the work they were doing. By the end of the day, all the major work was completed, which I found incredible - that is, all the cables were successfully placed inside the walls and ceiling; all speakers were mounted and connected; and the projector mount was secured to the ceiling (a DIY mount that I created years ago). All that was left by the end of Sunday was to repaint the walls and ceiling. The next day, only one person showed up to complete the remaining work, all of which was completed in about 3 hours. Now, there was one hiccup, though it wasn't Alfredo's fault: one of the HDMI cables that I purchased to run across the room from the receiver to the source computer was faulty, which I hadn't known until after his crew left and it was tested for the first time. I emailed Alfredo with the bad news, along with a request to have him come back to remove the bad cable and install a new cable that I ordered from Amazon (by the way, only buy Mediabridge for HDMI cables longer than 40' - infinitely more reliable than the Ce-Tech brand one can quickly purchase from Home Depot). I wasn't sure what to expect here: Would he come back to complete the job at little to no charge (it was literally completed a day before the cable was tested), or would he quote the work as if it was a new project altogether? I was kind of not expecting the former, but a day after my email went out to him, he sent me a text message asking if he could send someone over that Thursday to complete my request. In addition, he only had charged me for the number of hours worked for the individual that was sent out, instead of a more formal (and larger) project estimate, which was great. In summary, I definitely plan on bringing A M Green Construction back for any future housing projects that come by way in the future. Pricing was fair, Alfredo was communicative and upfront with his answers to questions, and the team that he's organized were professional and efficient at their jobs.
