I was craving Korean food and have been meaning to try Gogi Time for a while now. I decided to order takeout which is about a 15-20 min wait for delivery. I can't speak for the ambiance indoors but if you're driving / walking here, there is limited parking in front of the restaurant, as well as street parking nearby. The happy hour deals are great value here - I was able to redeem an offer on buy 1 get 1 free for fries, and a discount on the banchan. The portion sizes are huge for the value, which is great if you want to stretch it out to a couple meals! The fried egg, sautéed veggies, large scoops of rice and kimchi in the bibimbap made for the perfect, hearty meal. I loved the crunch of the veggies in the banchan as well - it's not too spicy if you're sensitive to it. The French fries were ok, but it was filled to the brim and came with both ketchup and sriracha. Overall, I'd love to try Gogi Time again!

Service was great. All the servers were on top of everything. The meats were great, good flavors. The kimchi pancake was great. The banchan was weird. Dry. Or like. Not marinated long enough? Like the marinade was just sitting on top of the kimchi. Would definitely return. Great service. I forgot to take a photo of the meats, Bad Bunny was performing ‍

Dave was very nice and very helpful.

The meats are tender and tasty. The side dishes specifically the Kimchi is a delight. The tofu soup was mild but delicious. I love the Beef Belly. Dave is very friendly and knowledgeable about the whole process and experience. His recommendations are great. The place is a nice size. It is very clean and the restroom was well stocked and tidy. The place was very unique and I love the decor. I really enjoyed my time here. I will definitely be back.

Probably one of the worst meals I've had in Oakland. Got it delivered and the beef bulgogi had no seasoning or sauce on it. Straight up boiled beef. Out of 3 of us no one would eat it so we pitched it. The chicken wasn't good but it was edible. And the completely forgot the potstickers. Expensive and bad

This place has definitely changed a lot since the last time I was here which was years ago during the pandemic. More than the ownership has changed. This review is for their a la carte menu because we didn't do AYCE. The server and host was friendly and accommodating which was the best thing I could say about our experience. The banchan was mediocre and the macaroni had a taste that reminded us of wasabi which was odd for a Korean place. Our chicken bibimbap had mushrooms that might be from a can, some zucchini strings and the rice was really mushy - not separate grains of rice or crispy as it should be for bibimbap. The kimchi stew was completely off - the flavor did not taste authentic at all, the veggies used just seemed like filler, there were legit 2 pieces of tofu only, all the pork pieces were 95% fat, and as mentioned the rice was just mushy. It didn't even have slices of actual kimchi in the stew. Just onions. We got a complimentary order of beef potstickers which my kids enjoyed but I had to tell them we didn't order it before we found out it's on the house. The bulgogi and the dumpling and rice cake soup were the better dishes. The soup was good but my kids did not eat the dumplings because they didn't taste good. Very few rice cakes (like the tofu in the stew). They didn't bring out the lettuce wraps which the menu says comes with the bulgogi until we asked for it. My passion fruit lime soju cocktail was good and one of the better parts of the meal. If you're coming here, I would recommend trying the AYCE if that is better than their a la carte menu options which are not authentic Korean fare here anymore. It looks like the ownership and staff have changed a lot since the last time I visited. I don't necessarily think it has to be Korean owned to taste authentic but they have to be true to the recipes for the cuisine: crispy rice for bimbimbap and actual kimchi not just the flavoring for the kimchi stew with more than two cubes of tofu. The place looked decent but their front host table was sticky. They did not put a cover on the grill on our table until we were putting dishes over it since we didn't order food to grill ourselves.

For reasons you may already know, this place reminds me of The Hungry Heifer, Norm's favorite restaurant on "Cheers" where his meal of choice was the "All You Can Eat Feeding Frenzy for Two". That was just for himself. This cavernous Korean BBQ spot offered something similar, the All You Can Eat meal for $39.99, where everyone at the table has to order it, children included at $22.99. They automatically added an 18% service charge and proactively discouraged leftover takeout. That's serious eating, and almost every other table went for the deal, and their tables were covered with meat and veggies on huge grills. Jamie W and I just couldn't commit ourselves to endless gluttony and focused on the A La Carte menu. Even so, the food added up, especially when beef was involved. First came the Banchan, ten little plates of Korean goodness, pretty standard but always a winning start (Photo 10). Jamie showed some discretion by ordering the $17 Stone Pot Dolsot Bibimbap, a hearty portion of spicy pork over rice with mixed vegetables and a fried egg (Photo 7). He deemed it decent and I concurred. I focused on the BBQ side of the menu and ordered the $35 LA Galbi Short Ribs. That was almost as much as the All You Can Eat deal. Quite a pile of short ribs arrived on a cast iron platter (Photo 8). It was a carnivore's delight especially if you like cleaning off beef bones. I realized later that the $35 price tag included the banchan and two large bowls of white rice (Photo 9), so Jamie benefited from my overindulgent order. Whether you go All You Can Eat or A La Carte, you won't go home hungry. FOOD - 3 stars...quantity doesn't equal quality unless that's how you roll...out of a restaurant AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...big place with a lot of hungry people SERVICE - 3 stars...pretty standard TOTAL - 3 stars...belly up to the grill! Headline: Best K-BBQ I've had outside of Seoul! "I've tried a lot of Korean spots, but this place is the real deal. The Galbi was incredibly tender and had that perfect smoky, sweet glaze. You can tell the Banchan (side dishes) are made in-house--the kimchi had the perfect crunch and ferment. The service was fast, and the atmosphere was so welcoming.

Really good food and service. They brought us a bunch of small bowls of veggies and tofu as soon as we sat down. The cocktails were really fun and good. I had the White Lotus. My daughter and I went and we weren't hungry enough for the large dinner. So we ordered some spare ribs and a noodle dish. It was a lot of food and we took some home to eat later. My daughter is gluten free and she had a lot of choices. It's on a nice street with interesting shops and restaurants. The service was very good too all in all I highly recommend this restaurant.

Decided to show up for dinner here, great service as last time. If yall like college football, this place has Saturday night games on their tv. Loved the corn cheese, the beef tongue and everything else! This place is so much fun and pleas bring your hunger because it's all you can eat! Definitely recommend

The only good and authentic tasting dish was the galbi. The menu is fairly limited for ayce. I generally go for brisket at ayce kbbq, but their brisket pieces are lean and tough. We tried to order several servings of brisket and other meats all at once, but they kept bringing us one small serving of each every time. The pork belly was average, but the galbi was the best on the menu. The banchan did not taste like authentic korean side dishes. We also noticed that we weren't served the same side dishes as other tables. They had additional side dishes like fish cake. We tried the kimchi pancake but there was little kimchi and alot of batter -- it was crispy though. The lettuce wraps were fresh. They provide a complimentary generic version of yakult at the end of the meal. The restaurant has a lot of graffiti outside. The servers were attentive and came to check up on us frequently. They have a lot of tables and reservations are available. **there is a mandatory 18% service charge applied to the bill**

Kaitlyn B.

The meat is pretty good and the price point is decent for the area! Those are the positives. The service is lacking - we ordered one bowl of rice five separate times and received...no rice. The tables around us did receive theirs though, which was confusing. Some of the fans don't work so it gets pretty smoky. Also, the bathrooms could use some TLC.

Blu M.

To cut to the chase; the KBBQ is alright, nothing special whatsoever. I'll keep this review nice and short. The restaurant itself is interesting. Does not have your typical KBBQ ambiance. Walked in and got sewed quickly which is a plus! However, once sat, it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come and assist us. There were not many tables filled at the time we went, so unsure of the hold up. When we got the menu, we were honestly disappointed. There was not a large variety of options and there were definitely some odd ones (like hot links?). The meat itself is ok, again nothing special. The quality was not bad but not great. The banchan is alright. Just mediocre food overall. There are a lot of great Korean restaurant and AYCE spots around Oakland and the rest of East Bay. I say save your time and give another place a shot!

The tv playing sports

The food was mediocre as the meat was mostly chewy and not worth the price for the all you could eat. The meat didn't seem to have any flavor. But the appetizers like the garlic fries were really amazing. They have a variety of divreavailable appetizers which is really great. Service was really good through 5- stars on that. The staff were really kind and patient. The space was calm and clean. There are also multiple speakers playing music as well as multiple TVs playing basketball/sports. They also have a well decorated spaced with Korean advertisements as well as some art. Ultimately this place has a lot of potential but sadly it's just the meat that really isn't up to par. Besides the food, I'd love to rate this place a 5/5! Also in my opinion if you want to spent (42.99 for dinner) for all you can eat jong g house is better they have better quality food and more affordable and more selection (32.99 for dinner)

Parking is a bit difficult but we managed to find street parking a block away. Wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of seating inside. You order first and you find a table to sit, and they bring out the food to you. Self serve water is available. The food came out pretty quick! Thoughts: - Lobster roll (classic) was delicious! Generous amount of lobster. Would definitely get this again. Chips weren't too great though. - Fried shrimp basket was nice. Shrimp was crispy and tasty. Fries were also very crispy and flavorful. The sauces go well with the shrimp/fries. Coleslaw isn't the best though. - The crab nachos were surprisingly good. A nice cheese sauce combo with pico/avocado crema and a good amount of crab. - Garlic noodles were fine, nothing standout about them. - Mix and match basket with catfish, cod, and calamari (not pictured): Catfish was solid (would highly recommend, one of the favorites of the meal!), but would pass on the cod and calamari - a bit dry/fishy. Would recommend for a casual spot for seafood and a nice view!

First off, this place is one the water on Jack London Square - which is pretty much in a death…read morespiral. The once thriving and bustling go-to spot is a mere shadow of what it once was. Anyone remember the Jack London Village that they tore down to build this end of the development? Anyways - this is a fast casual type spot, where you order from the counter, place the little number sign on your table and wait for it to be delivered. The menu is your standard seafood joint by the water type, with all the usual suspects represented. Fried fish, shrimp, chowder, seafood pastas--if you've ever been to a seaside seafood joint, chances are good that the menu here is exactly like the one you remember seeing at the countless other places like this one. I noticed right off the bat that their pricing structure was on the high side - with a $17 burger and fries option, with the bulk of the fried seafood options in the $22-25 range. A cheaper choice might be the $16 fish tacos (two of them) but I kind of draw the line at paying $8 for a single taco. Our table ordered a few of the fried options plus a few soda beverages. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I noticed that the silver metal trays that the food comes on is a bit on the small side, especially considering the prices for each dish. The fried shrimp dish was a big scoop of mega-salty french fries, and 3 average sized deep fried shrimp. Yes - 3 as in 1, 2, 3. That's what - $7+ a shrimp? The two fried fish platters weren't much better portion-wise. My deep fried cod consisted of three modest sized fish-fingers, and not the single luscious chunk of perfectly fried cod I had imagined in my head when ordering. They were fine - but very average and nothing that stood out as life-changing or something to write home about. As mentioned earlier, they must be employing the Little Rascals method where they over salt everything, in hopes that you'll order another beverage to wash down the copious mounts of sodium (I figure about 4+ days worth). The fried catfish platter that rounded out our order was more of the same - thin meager portions of fish on a large bed of mega-salted fries. Small plastic containers of generic pre-made tartar sauce and coleslaw can with each platter. The coleslaw was fine - just very forgettable and perhaps a tad on the flavorless/watery side. All said, was it okay? Yes. Was it anything outstanding that I'd crave and plan my return to have again? No. It is in line with touristy by-the-Sea seafood places that charge an extra couple of bucks because they're "on the water"? Pretty much. You're paying for the view and the 'scene' of sitting on the patio out front to people watch, and not for the food. I kind of hate these places and normally try my best to stay away from them, but every once in awhile, you gotta put on your tourist hat and join the mindless flock. A meager 2 stars outta 5 from me. Instead, I'd stroll around this area on a Sunday when they hold the farmer's market (again - is not what it used to be) and then drive through the tube to Alameda where great dining spots are numerous on Park Street. You can stop at Crab Cove and Crown Beach on the way, for more touristy sightseeing.

A search on this website resulted in Marica having it on their menu. He booked a 7:30 PM reservation for two. We arrived early. What started out as a not too pleasant experience for us was the attitude of the guy who greeted us when we entered the restaurant. Attitude bordered on rudeness (3 star). We somewhat tolerated it, not knowing what to expect next. The restaurant was filled with diners, and the only available seating was not far from the front door. Oh, the chill was in the air, and my not wearing a sweater and/or light jacket to stay warm had me shivering. I had to brave the element (LOL). Since there was no Chilean sea bass on their daily special menu, it took a little longer for my companion and I to peruse the menu, and decide what entrees we were willing to have. Usually I would order an Arnold Palmer as a beverage; however, this time I decided to be adventurous - reisling peach spritz please - to whet my appetite. My date had the Temescal pilsner. Eats: Grilled salmon arange ginger saffron blanc beurre, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Korean short ribs, honey garlic gochujang marinade, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Our meals were on point and bomb-diggity delicious. The arange ginger saffron was perfect with the carrot. It reminded me of glazed carrots. The green beans were fresh and not overcooked. Ooh, the Korean pork ribs were tender and that sauce was sweet and had a subtle kick of spiciness. (Definitely a perfect complement for the pork ribs.) I have to admit the chef knew how to burn. Food tasted so good that figuratively speaking y'all gotta slap the cook and his mama. Ambiance: Comfy and casual. Despite the dining area is small, still it is a great restaurant for dining on a Friday evening. From my perspective and vivid imagination with the indoor lighting, it exuded a romantic atmosphere. Only in my mind I can hear soft jazz in the background. What convinced me to give Marica a 5 star rating? It was none other than Enriqueta, our waitress. She was pleasant, attentive and so accommodating. The chef lost our order ticket; thus, the wait time for our meal took a bit longer than we anticipated. She came to the rescue and comped us with dessert - chocolate souffle with homemade vanilla ice cream. It certainly was a gesture of kindness to have my date and me smiling from ear to ear. No one greeted us. Wasn't sure where to go. Went to the register. Waited a minute for someone to come out. Ordered the clam chowder, dozen oysters and fish & chips with a glass of mystery orange wine. Decided to sit outside in the back patio. Table was dirty from previous guest which usually doesn't bother me be ut little things started adding up. Service took a while. Oysters came out first. 20 min. They were fresh and delicious. Just enough to get the palette opened up. $46 though? Way overpriced but was willing to overlook since it is Mother's Day. Next up - clam chowder, 10 min after they took the tray for the oysters. Smallest bowl I ever saw. Flavor was good. Temperature was luke warm. Broth was thin. $10. Not worth it. Last was the fish and chips. 10 min after picking up the chowder bowl. Portion looked good enough to make up for the small clam chowder, except it was under seasoned. Fish texture was a bit dry too. Fries were meh. Between the overall vibe...the overpriced items...the time between dishes...and the lack of flavor, I will continue my search for an oyster spot in this neighborhood.

The clam…read morechowder is hands-down the best I've had anywhere--and I've sampled chowders all over my travels. Rich, creamy, and loaded with fresh clams, it stands out because it's made with fresh shellfish and a clean, natural flavor that isn't weighed down by excessive thickening. The fish and chips were equally impressive. The fish was light, flaky, and perfectly cooked, wrapped in a crisp batter that never felt greasy. Every bite tasted fresh and expertly prepared. The patio seating is a must if the weather cooperates. Sitting outside with views of the San Francisco Bay, Bay Bridge, and the constant activity around the Ferry Building elevates the entire dining experience. Whether you're enjoying oysters, chowder, or a cold drink, it's one of the best waterfront dining spots in the city. Come hungry, grab a seat outside if you can, and don't leave without trying the clam chowder. Between the incredible seafood, relaxed atmosphere, and unbeatable views, Hog Island remains one of San Francisco's standout dining experiences.

It was decently busy, a mix of the retiree marina crowd and work lunch groups, but still relaxed enough for us to really sit and catch up without feeling rushed. The vibe is casual upscale. Grown, but not stuffy. The weather absolutely showed off. Blue sky, sun out, overlooking the water...it felt like we timed it perfectly. Not guna lie, I had been stalking the menu all morning before our lunch trying to decide what I wanted. We started with the seafood trio appetizer; calamari, salmon cakes, and lightly breaded shrimp. Perfect size for sharing, crispy without being heavy. And they bring complimentary bread and butter, which I will always say yes to. It had been a week, so obviously I ordered an espresso martini, tequila (of course). I reluctantly said yes to Kahlúa and it leaned a little more "milky" than I prefer, good, just adjusting next time. I ordered the stuffed crab salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables and it was bomb. Bomb bomb bomb. Great portion size and I left my plate CLEAN. Okayyy. They had cute little Valentine's arrangements on the tables which was a sweet touch without doing too much. Service was great and attentive, we didn't feel rushed, and the whole lunch just reminded me this place deserves more attention in my life. Definitely coming back.

The only downside is it can be hard to share the little nibbles on the menu between 4 people unless you order more than 1. The appetizers are bigger portions are easier to share. Last night was just 2 of us in the dining room, which really heated up in the sunshine of early evening but then mellowed out. The menu had refreshing chartreuse cocktails to celebrate Chartreuse Day, which is apparently a thing (I'm into it). The scallop crudo was delicious but the halibut crudo with strawberry aguachile (!) was the standout. We did fried chicken with biscuits which were nuts, and I would buy jars of the anchovy chili crisp. The buckwheat donuts were a great way to finish the meal. Sweet and not heavy. It's a pricey night out but IMO well worth it.

Off night? Not sure. I came when this spot first opened, and I had similar sentiments. My favorite part of the meal was the dessert. The donuts and the hazelnut ice cream with that delicious salty cookie were truly the highlights of the meal. Everything else average. Not bad per se, but just unforgettable and of course... prices were expensive for quantity. The $40 1/2 fried chicken was really well cooked. A crispy thick layer of southern style breading deep fried with juicy chicken. It came with a sauce and we chose a mushroom sauce that I didn't think worked at all with this chicken. We also ordered a $7 (around that) biscuit that was small and fine. The gnocchi was actually well portioned for the price, but ultimately flavorless. And the shrimp and chorizo pizza, which I was excited about, again, lacked any depth or flavor... we asked for something to spice it up and she brought over a $2 side of anchovy chili oil. The smoked fish dip was just a few spoonfulls, which was fine, as I didn't love. The $21 asaparagus salad was the most flavorful with a middle-eastern spiced hummus to throw some flavor on it, it was just a very small plate for the price tag. Overall, this is teetering on a 2 star, imho. The place is really well designed, the outdoor patio so quaint and service was nice. The cocktails were solid, while none screamed out to me so I kept it at 1. Overall, not my cup of chartreuse (a very common ingredient they use in cocktails and even coffee). The space is lovely, but for the price tag, the fare didn't live up to the value.
