My wife and I recently went here for a late weekend lunch on a recent trip and had an extremely disappointing experience despite Gobble This being recommended to us. The ambiance was solid, with local artwork and pottery throughout the restaurant. While we were able to get seats immediately, the service was unacceptable. Gobble This had only one chef and one server, which meant that we had to wait 40 minutes for our food even though the restaurant was not crowded. If you are a restaurant in a major tourist area on a weekend, you cannot have just one chef and server for your guests. I got the chicken tacos, which were fine. However, they were not worth the high cost ($25) or the long wait. My wife got a pupusa platter with rice and beans, which cost $20. It came with one medium-sized pupusa and a small amount of rice and beans. This exact dish would cost less than half that amount in a big city. Even accounting for the tourist area higher costs, this was outrageous. There is far better Latin American and New Mexican cuisine in Albuquerque with better portions at more affordable prices; I would go elsewhere for that experience. read more

Had a strange experience here. The initial interaction was great with the server. I let her know about my gluten intolerance and she let me know what I could eat. Ordered the diablo shrimp. She said they could make it with a corn topper. It came out with a wheat flour topper. She apologized and said she would remake it. And here is where things went left. There was a mix up about what would be remade. She meant they would remake the topper. I thought she said they would remake the meal because of cross contamination. Then it was a little back and forth with what she believed to be the difference between an allergy and an intolerance. But I think she meant the difference between celiac and a gluten intolerance. I asked for the food not to be remade and found somewhere else to eat If you don't have celiac or a gluten intolerance, please don't argue with folks about the impacts on their bodies. Gobble This has a lot of character. The outside has really cool art and design and it's located on a quiet chill block which made it perfect for our meal. The food portions were small but really enjoyable. I wouldn't come here if you have a big appetite but the food we did have definitely hit the spot. The reason I gave it three stars is because of the service. It started out great but one of my friends ordered the diablo shrimp with a corn topper because she has a gluten intolerance. Great outdoor seating with flowers and birds. The first word I said after the first bite was "wow". And that about sums it up. Go here. It is spectacular. I tried the roasted garlic, spinach and cheese pupusa and the green chile, bean, carnitas, and cheese. Definitely in the top five best pupusas I've ever had. The beans and rice con crema were simple yet rich. The yuca was perfectly crispy. It was a bit of a wait but worth every bite. All of the staff were also welcoming. Definitely some of the best bites around, gobble this is a must try for great tacos and pupusas. Stopped in for a taco Tuesday special hours deal with a friend. The carne asada tacos were $1 each on a special and absolutely amazing. Super great flavor and choose your own toppings. I also got a $5 aqua fresca and it was really good. Definitely keep an eye out on their socials for special open to the public days because most of the time it is reservation only. We were lucky to get to try Chef Nestor's food on a day they were open to the public and I'm so happy we did. The pupusa and yuca frita were delicious. This keeps the crowd down providing intimacy for diners and ensuring an excellent experience. Mixed feelings about this place. Food four stars, really good. We had the taco plate $20 three small street tacos and chips and carnitas nachos small bowl $15. Both really good. But, in my opinion, the price was too expensive for what you get..2 stars. Nice people work there but service is lacking 2 stars. Smallest menu I've ever seen 2 stars. Pay and tip before you eat is what we had to do at the check in stand before you sit at your table. Stuff you do at fast food restaurants (although I don't usually tip at fast food restaurants) the server was nice but for his pre paid tip only delivered food, never saw him again and we had to get up and get our own water (we didn't order drinks because they only have cans no fountain drinks and If this was a place like chipotle or Zupas or something then I totally expect getting your own drinks etc.. 2stars) BUT cute decor, nice music, friendly owners, good food and looks pet friendly out on the patio brings it up to three stars.
