    An Iconic Breakfast

Today we decided to head to the zoo and wanted to get a bite to eat before we went. The Goat Tree is a must visit! Service was amazing as Juan our waiter handled us with care, and was very friendly, and lots of fun. The food was prepared with care and everything tasted very good. We were seated outside and enjoyed people watching while eating our meal. Thank you GOAT Tree! We will be back.

Burger week burger. As good as 3rd window.

I was ok with passing this for burger week bc 3rd window has the best smash burger, but since their burger week burger was delicious last year, we decided to try it again (diff burger this year). The angus beef patty had a nice meaty flavor and it had a really nice cheese pull. The caramelized onion and bread and butter pickle added a little sweetness to it. This burger is as good as 3rd window and I highly recommend trying it out!

This maybe a first. A review of a place we didn't eat at. We were doing a wine tasting at the Society in the Hotel Californian and ordered a charcuterie board. At one point the hostess at the winery said she was going to check on our board order. I didn't see where she went but a few moments later saw her crossing the street with our board order. When asked where she went she told us that Goat Tree makes their boards for them. Had to be one of the best boards we've ordered at a winery. It had a little of everything and was freshly put together on order. If you're at the Society order one of the Goats boards. You won't be sorry.

Stopped in for coffee and a cookie. I think it's part of Hotel California which is nice. There's a cafe on one side where it offers the hot drinks and baked goods. And then you have the restaurant where both inside and outside patio seating. Beautifully decorated which enhances the whole place. Open vibe, perfect beachy experience. Didn't have a meal on site but have had numerous plates delivered to the tasting room across the street. Coffee, basic but good. They did have a good selections on the baked goods and pastries. Don't know if it's made on site or delivered from Somewhere else but the cookie was excellent. White chocolate with blueberry. Nice and chunky and perfect.

Awesome food. Quality ingredients. Easy going atmosphere. Definitely a must try in the area and a great place to start before wine tasting.

The Goat Tree, in Santa Barbara, is one of my favorite places to start, or finish my train ride to or from the San Fernando Valley. They have spectacular desserts and generally, before I catch the train back, I try to stop here after having lunch somewhere else, for a pastry to sweeten my tooth and go back home. But sometimes, if I have more time, I stop here for a sweet breakfast, which would also be a pastry or fruit, maybe a croissant. This place is amazing, every time I come here the selections are different. How can that be? The pastry chef has to be brilliant. As you know, the Goat Tree, is attached to, The Californian, a very high end hotel on State Street in Santa Barbara. Wish I had the bucks to stay here sometime, savor the in house dining . Oh well, hopefully on another day, or more realistically, in another life.

Food was good. Service was attentive. There weren't as many options on the menu as we thought but that was fine. Loved the pancakes, they weren't so overly sweet and were easy to enjoy. Very clean restaurant and nice ambiance.

Visited this place with some friends during my bachelorette. Their restaurant is beautifully designed and very picture worthy . Their food on the other hand was very average in my opinion and service needed work as it was a bit slow. I got the pancakes and it was too sweet so I was unable to eat it. We also were frustrated towards the end as the bill could only be split into two instead of four which was odd as well.

Another Good pick for brunch place in SB. My hubby ordered smoked Salmon toast which is loaded with smoke salmon. I ordered frittata and it was the winner among the 4 orders, not salty and on the healthy side( mushroom and cheese). My sister ordered Avocado toast, with over easy eggs and thick slices of bacon. My bro - in -law( doc Jp) ordered iconic breakfast comes with drip coffee, thick bacon slices , potatoes and sourdough bread. Love the potatoes , it's creamy. Hector was one of our servers. They are fast. our meal was served with 4 different servers at one time, so our food came together. We ordered all different food to be able to try everything. The bacon as usual was on the salty side but crunchy and meaty. Nice sitting inside and outside the restaurant, we were given a choice of with sun or no sun, as filipinos we choose no sun( under the umbrella. This place is a nice hangout place to people watch. We arrived on time before the crowd started..

Service was very good. I was hoping for a little more or a citrus flavor in the pancakes. They were good not great. Eating outside was very nice.

The servers are kind and helpful. The outdoor seating beside the palm trees is beautiful - like a Mediterranean plaza. Teas are ok, hot chocolate is good. The salmon toast is a winner with its pickled onions and alfalfa sprouts. The protein frittata was a bit plain and overcooked. The turkey sandwich was quite good, with a light honey mustard dressing. The desserts are beautiful, and their looks exceed their flavors.

The food is very good here. The chopped chicken salad is very filling. The Bloody Mary's are very strong. The Ambiance is beautiful outside. There is a Star pond with running water which is calming in the middle of the courtyard. The service was great. Our waiter and the bus boy checked on us a few times.

We originally planned to try Jeannine's Bakery on State Street, but with the long line (understandable during Fiesta weekend), we decided to walk over to Goat Tree - and we're so glad we did! There was no wait, and we were seated right away on the charming outdoor patio. The setting was adorable, and we lucked out with perfect weather - sunny with a light, cool breeze. The service was wonderful - special thanks to Juan for being so friendly and even offering to take our group photos! The classic breakfast plate was delicious. I swapped the potatoes for fresh fruit, and everything was just right - the sourdough toast was perfectly buttered and crisp, and the eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection. The lattes were excellent and hit the spot for all of us. Goat Tree turned out to be the perfect, relaxing brunch spot. We'd absolutely come back again!

These desserts are works of art, AND taste delicious! This is a cute and small restaurant and take-away pastry shop. About 6 tables and a counter to sit/stand at. We were there on a Friday mid morning and they were packed. However they have several food runners and support staff to turn the tables fairly quickly. We waited in line for about 5 minutes to order at the counter as you enter so a line is not unusual, especially peak days and times. We purchased 5 different desserts, the peanut butter crunch was my favorite. The tiramisu was my least favorite...but still delicious. The coffee flavor of the tiramisu tasted fake so Alessia should work on her recipe if she wants a better tiramisu dessert...or just change the name so it reduces the expectation. I attached a photo so you can see the talent of the pastry chefs that Alessia has gathered and trained at this Santa Barbara patisserie. Definitely a must stop and try it.

We chose to sit outside Overall, our experience was great; however, there was one sour person, who definitely made this a four star experience instead of five. This was our first time here, and unfortunately our first point of contact was just a terrible person. She was front line, and was manning one of the cashier stations taking orders. She was outright rude, condescending, impatient, curt and hurried. She offered no grace at all, and practically yelled at customers who couldn't quickly make the order. After that, things improved. Our food was brought out by someone that was overwhelmingly pleasant and our plates were collected by another person who had a great attitude. The food was also delicious. I had the Croque Monsieur, and it was awesome. So, overall I would return. The prices are a bit high; however, for the area not that bad and the food was delicious. Just get rid of the crazy rude one.

Note that this is a review specifically for a private event (wedding lunch reception)…read more My wife and I recently got married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and were looking for a restaurant to host a lunch reception and State & Fig absolutely delivered. A 5/5 experience and we would certainly work with them again. We were in contact with Serina for about a year before the wedding and she was very accommodating, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process. We initially met with her to discuss our vision, had a food and cake tasting, and also a final walk through with our coordinator to ensure everything was smooth. In terms of food, atmosphere, and service, I would want to go through all three in detail: 1) Food: We had a lunch style buffet and the food options were fresh and many of our guests gave very positive feedback and took shameless second trips. Serina and the owner (Patrick) were able to source many of the ingredients seasonally and cater to our guests' palate (Asian-inspired, etc.). We had a tasting and they took our feedback into consideration in earnest. Moreover, our strawberry cake was AMAZING. 2) Atmosphere: The restaurant had a great layout for our party size (~90 or so) with seating inside, outside, and upstairs. This arrangement allowed us to have an intimate reception despite having a lot of guests. The decor in the restaurant is minimal, which allows customization to make the space truly our own. State & Fig allowed us to borrow a few decorations, which was generous. 3) Service: The two points before were already excellent, but State & Fig's outstanding service took the lunch reception to another level. Serina was a joy to work with in terms of bringing our vision to life and was always there to make things easy for us. Patrick ensured that this was a special day for us, and encouraged us to soak it in and enjoy it as much as we can. And the wait staff and servers on the day of were professional and attentive. For that, we are immensely grateful. There were other restaurants that we toured before selecting S&F, and it was clear that hosting the reception would simply be a transactional business affair. This felt like a genuine desire to make our special day a memorable experience. Overall, a 5/5 experience and we hope that others will be able to have State & Fig host their special day. P.S. A funny aside: we met a couple sitting next to us during our tasting, who were returning to celebrate their anniversary after getting married at S&F. They told us we were in good hands and not to worry, and we AGREE.

The temperature was great, the latte art was great, and the syrup flavor options were so fun. The interior and exterior decor were immaculate. I loved the mallard rocking ducks outside the front door for the kids. The exterior tables (with marble tops) and chairs were beautiful and I was surprised that they were being used as outdoor tables because I am sure the elements with weather them down fast. I liked the cute design touches inside like the hand painted trim on the windows, the art, and the plants. They played country music inside. There was plenty of parking. The surrounding area is gorgeous with lots of tall trees. The bad: The mint latte could've used a little more mint flavor. I tried the biscuit and egg sandwich as well as the Dijon mustard toast with ham. I thought both were subpar to what I was expecting. The bread slice was thick, the ham was cold, and it could've used more of a spread or sauce. The biscuit tasted microwaved. The drinks came in beautiful orange glasses but I think it made the volume slightly smaller. The interesting: The bathroom is outside of the coffee shop but is very clean and nice.
