Organizing With A Personal Touch

We have a contract for a fixed price, and percentage of sales from the tag sale. Ms. Nider was fully paid in advance, has kept all the proceeds from the sale (we were supposed to receive 50%), has refused to provide a sales register, has refused to provide an inventory of goods not sold, and has refused to return unsold merchandise and personal items, and other items not moved, that we have requested numerous times. Extensive problems with moving, packing, and missing home items. She has acted highly unprofessional, and violated the absolute trust we had put in her. The only reason I gave her one star, was the initial organizing and staging of our house which went well. It took almost 45 days to finish packing and clearing our house, which was still going on the night before our scheduled closing. While she insists on total control, she takes no responsibility when things do not go as planned. When things did not go as planned, which happens and is understandable, things totally went off the rails, and chaos just avalanched the chaos that was already happening through the packing and moving phase. The test of a true professional is how they handle problems to minimize impact, not just blame others. Packing continued long after the movers had the truck loaded, and we had to pay for a second truck to take stuff left behind, and we are still missing things. How does a professional organizer take things that were organized into labeled storage bins, dump the contents into boxes, and not return the storage bins they were in. Was it to save space. If so, bad plan, we still needed an extra truck. Parts were not packed with items, and several items were damaged, and in general, unpacking was highly frustrating because of the poor packing. My 12 year old son was distraught because of all the personal and special items that he collected and were recklessly packed and damaged. I can go on for at least another page, but this in itself is too aggravating to revisit. If there is a response, I am sure it will defend and blame, but the facts above are the facts. Our move was on July 5th, the movers arrived on July 11th and today is August 7. No proceeds from tag sales, no return of personal items, no attempt to return missing items, or other resolution. Instead mind boggling explanations or no response to my numerous requests through text, email, and registered mail. While she may believe she can meet her commitments, she takes on too much, was distracted by other jobs, and in general spread herself too thin. A move is stressful enough!

Piano shopping can be tough. How many times in your life are you out shopping for a new piano?…read more Well, it's not that different than buying a car. There are sales people who will lie right to your face to try and get you to buy and then there are honest, knowledgeable people like Andy. Apparently, he's been selling pianos for many years and he was very easy to work with. I went to his store first and then made my rounds to other local places. When faced with making a piano purchase, it's best to educate yourself. Figure out how much you want to spend and learn as much as you can about what's out there. Some stores who carry many brands often are selling "grey market" pianos or "stencil pianos". Look it up and learn the meaning of these two terms. After we did our homework and shopped around, I returned to Rockaway Music. I didn't feel like I was being misinformed there. There was no pressure and I found the environment to be less sales like than other showrooms. You can tell when someone is being sincere, or at least I feel I can. If you are shopping solely based on price and not on quality, you might feel this store is expensive. If you are more worried about getting a quality product and honest answers, you will be happy here. We bought our piano here, the delivery went smoothly. I felt very comfortable and confident purchasing our piano from this store and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a piano. The added bonus, our current piano tuner does work for this store so we didn't have to choose a new tuner. If you need a great tuner, just ask me. The guy we use is the best around with many years of experience.

I try to be fair and realistic when I write a review, especially when it's trending in my mind…read moretoward the negative. Medicine, doctors, health care, etc. have all become bureaucratized and impersonal (I've had several instances where I've called my personal doctor...and I like him...and have been told, "Make an appointment with a specialist or go to an Urgent Care center."). It's discouraging, but that's the reality these days. As noted in other reviews, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea not too long ago. The sleep center told me it was severe. The pulmonologist told me it was "mild to moderate" but he recommended using CPAP. Ok. I made the appointment to visit the AtHome facility in Morris Plains. Plenty of parking, Nice white building. Inside, I was told to have a seat in the waiting room. Nature was calling, however, and I asked if I could use the rest room. I was buzzed inside and directed down a long hallway. The "office" was basically a cubicle factory, and I felt my 1st instinctive misgivings. It looked as much a telemarketer call center as it did the offices of a health care provider. I did what I had to and returned to the waiting room. I didn't have to wait long. A pleasant young woman directed me to a private room, unpacked the CPAP machine and proceeded to tell me, in detail, how to clean it. My thought was, "If I'm not being told how to use it, I guess it must be pretty easy to use." That night, I got nervous and watched a Youtube video, where a young guy who looked like he should have been instructing skiers on the slopes instead of intimating that he had sleep apnea explained...how to clean the CPAP. Frustrated, I went to put on the mask, turned on the machine, and attempted to sleep. Amazingly I did fall asleep but woke up abruptly shortly thereafter as a wind tunnel gusted with a frenzied force up my nostrils. I tore off the mask, threw it aside, and tried to return to the land of Morpheus. Scr*w this! I stayed with it, though, got used to it, and it seemed to function as advertised, although it never registered the correct amount of nightly usage time. This was a concern as if I didn't make the required nbr. of hours a night, insurance wasn't going to cover the cost. I was going to have to. I called several times, and was told, "The towers must be down, and that's why it's not registering correctly." I asked them to document this. I tried not to be suspicious, but it sure felt like I was being set up. A few weeks later, I received a text msg that said, "You are running out of time to reach the minimum usage requirements set by your insurance." I replied, "The machine doesn't register the correct amount of time. I've brought this to AtHome's attention several times." No response, no follow up. When I visited my pulmonologist, I explained the difficulty I was having, and I suggested maybe I should use some other CPAP provider. He said, "They're all pretty much the same...They don't care how they get paid, whether it's you or the insurance company, they just want to get paid." Yeah, Doc, I had kinda figured that out by then. Ultimately, it's all about the money. He reset my CPAP and sent a msg to AtHome, but it didn't make a difference. I received a letter from AtHome asserting that I hadn't met the requirements, and I could either pay $1,000 or return the CPAP. I called the nbr of the woman who sent the letter in order to discuss it, left a voicemail msg, and never received the courtesy of a reply. I finally called the main number, spoke to a pleasant young cubicle wage slave, and said, "I'm not trying to dump this on you personally but I'm ready to take this thing and throw it against the f**king wall." He consulted with a higher-up, and they offered a discount on the CPAP that was less than the amount the letter had indicated. I agreed. Do I feel like I got ripped off? Yeah. As my oldest friend remarked, when I described my troubles to him, "It sounds like a scam to me. Listen, my father had sleep apnea, never used a CPAP, and he lived till he was 91." Why did I end up buying the CPAP for a price that was still exorbitantly, excessively expensive? Instead of just returning it? Because I accept that I have sleep apnea, "mild" or otherwise. At its best, the CPAP does allow me to wake up feeling somewhat better than I might have otherwise. Part of my effort to lose weight is so that I perhaps might lose the sleep apnea entirely and then be able to fulfill my "fantasy" of throwing the CPAP against the f**king wall. I'm giving this 1 higher star than I'm really inclined to because I wouldn't want to deter those who have sleep apnea and need to have it addressed. Bottom line, though-- Look into "Inspire Therapy" and save yourself the headache of dealing with the CPAP machine in general and AtHome in particular.

Ay first impression (2 person shop run out of their 2 car garage), but once a saw inside, I was impressed. That garage was packed to the roof with equipment, abiet previously owned by pro ships. Where had equipment for formats that nobody else supported. Work was done in a timely manner, and the results were acceptable. I am embarking on concerting about 45 years of negatives, going back to the original instamatic 126 negatives, thru 110 and 35mm, 2 VHS tapes created by a shop my father used to convert 16mm, 8mm, super 8 and maybe others to tape (still searching for the 200+ hours of film used to create the 60 minute tape, ot seeing if a better digital copy can be made), plus photos since the early 1950s, about a bankers box full). I selected EverPresent based on multiple factors after reading the info on their web site for a few hours. Pros were: 1) a local company 2) clean facilities, modern equipment 3) a reasonable sized team 4) no TV ads (typically raises cost and cookie cutter approaches) 5) assessment before pricing, with options I can select as/where justified 6) discount on larger orders 7) taking time to educate me (I received a callback and we discussed scanning resolution for photos and negatives. I learned their default is 2,000dpi for negatives with an upcharge to 4,000 dpi, and photos at either 700 or 800dpu, I can ot find my notes of that call. Thinking that my older originals were analog (chemistry) probably done in Kodak labs, film and paper. Wanting to preserve the best image, I took on an experiment, and scanned it using a home flatbed scanner. Thue the higher dpi scans took way more disk, I recall going to 36,000dpi, upon close examination, it hit me that due to grain size on the negative (I used anywhere from ASA 100 to 1600) that those negatives were sort of digital at that point. That consultant knew what he was talking about about. That was the clincher. Now the cons: 1) I failed to read reviews. It looks like this will be their 2nd one. 2) it is almost impossible to call and get routed to a human. It always goes to voicemail, with a call back that I may not be able to drop everything to take (hint may be photos from the 1950s, so answering a cell phone on the first ring is not my default. I wait for it to announce who is calling based on the entry in contacts, then if I can talk, find the phone, by then the notification is gone from the screen (android), so I have to get that back just to answer the call. By then it had gone to voicemail where an useful message may be there. So, now I am starting to get concerned. I am unable to find out where I am in the assessment queue, whether it is days or weeks or months deep (if ever). With so few reviews, will their business model be viable? If not, what are the chances of ever getting back my originals? IMHO, once there is an order number (which I got when dropping off, I should be able to track online with having to connect with a human. Such as Received, waiting assment, expected wait time is xx days; accounting items, creating assessment and cost, should be ready in yy days; Waiting for customer to select options and confirm order; Order all approved, aiting to be scanned , expected start time in zz days and finished in another as days; Order completed on mmddyyyy. These are just my suggestions for a minimal set of statuses we should be able to see in the app without talking to a human. As you can probably tell, I am starting to get nervous.
