I rarely take things to a tailor. I figure I'll just make it work...LOL! Well this time I couldn't just make it work. I purchased a yellow sequins dress for my birthday and it was a little too long. I was convinced it would cost a crazy amount b/c of the sequins and under skirt. However, the price was reasonable and he was done before the time he stated. I sparkled on my birthday! I will definitely no longer just make it work and go get my things tailored.

Beautiful, precise work shortening our curtains!

Mr Hussy (pronounced Hew-see), did a terrific job shortening our curtains. He takes pride in his truly excellent work. His work is precise, and he goes the extra mile on details that a lay person might not notice. He was great communicating, got the work done quickly, and charged a fair price. He's also a really nice guy. Highly recommend!

Gold flower suit on the right!

I had such a great experience getting my suit tailored here for a wedding! The suit was just a basic one from Zara and the fit was all wrong...so many adjustments were necessary and he really did a great job making the suit fit me perfectly. It was pricey (but reasonable for a whole suit) and he explained in extreme detail what he was charging me for and why. Would definitely recommend this place! I wish I had a "before" photo to show the amazing changes he made! When he was finished with it the suit looked incredible and 100% made to fit my body!

Dude's a con artist, so I can't urge you enough to take your clothes elsewhere. If I didn't press him on the work done, I wouldn't have discovered the completely severed seams in both sleeves of the jacket I brought. Slick talker who's just trying to get paid. Thanks for the STELLAR work dude, I especially like how my sleeve completely tore with my first wear (pictured).

AFTER! Fit like a glove!

This guy. Is amazing. I love this kind of business- the people driven, old school business. I walked in without an appointment needing a dress tailored in two days. Although what I needed -I thought- was simple, he explained everything he would do to make the dress look like he had never touched it. Super efficient, funny and you can tell. that. he. cares. Tried calling other places before going to him and they were all days away and couldn't tell me if the work would be done when I needed it.. but this guy, did a better job than I could have ever hoped for! He made a dress that I thrifted for $10 make me feel like a million bucks!!!!

Left is before (all Wrong )...Right is After (Hussey made it perfect)

I gave G. O. a shirt that was 5 sizes too big. It fits perfectly now. Took him about two weeks. Very personable and professional. Cash only.

Instead I told them how many inches needed to be taken off for the new hem. They did an excellent job and I was very satisfied with the results. They offered to keep the original hem at a slightly higher price, but the value was still excellent.

DO NOT USE THIS DRY CLEANER IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR BELONGINGS! I contacted them in advance after…read morereading about their experience with high value vintage items, and contacted their WhatsApp. I sent them a list of the specific items which were high value vintage pieces, and when I handed my items to them for delivery, I had even marked each item with post-it notes. The Happy Cleaners team confirmed they received all these communications. Lo and behold, when I got my items back, they had PIERCED THE FABRIC of several of my items with pins to hold them on the cheap hangers. They did not do this on the seam or anything, just straight through the fabric. The gravity left small holes in my items, a $4,000 vintage silk dress and an $800 vintage wool skirt. They claimed they put pins through my items because the items "wouldn't stay on the hanger otherwise." This is ridiculous because the skirt had specific loops sewn into it for hanging, and the dress could have been easily folded in half and hung over the center of the hanger. They said they could take the items back and "iron out the holes," which is ridiculous because silk and wool CANNOT be ironed. I told them no, I did not trust them with my items, and I wanted to speak to the manager for compensation. I was told I would be called back - FOUR SEPARATE TIMES. I kept calling and asking why they had not called me back yet, and the employee kept telling me the manager was not in the office and that he would call me back soon. He never did and it has been 9 days. NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR VALUABLE ITEMS HERE! I am filing a chargeback with my credit card company and considering small claims court.

AMadden Tailoring - a perfect bustle (took maybe 2 minutes for my bridesmaids to figure it out and it stayed up all night)

I found AMadden tailoring through yelp and other reviews to tailor my wedding dress. Even though…read moreshe was out of town when I emailed, she got back to me within a day and scheduled an appointment. Her office space is in Gowanus so pretty easy to get to and if you drive, there are usually a couple parking spots in front. She comes down to open the door and bring you up to the studio and then you take off your shoes upon entering. She always had a great playlist going which I hum or sing to. She has a great mirror to showcase your dress and showed me both style options for a bustle. I had her add an American bustle and take in the straps a bit and because my wedding was a month away, we scheduled a follow up appointment two weeks out. She color coded the bustle to make it super easy and we had one more try on. With the deposit, it was about $300 total which is on par with what I had done. She tailors other women's clothes as well so I have a feeling I'll be coming back for all my tailoring needs. She does not tailor menswear.

She worked her magic on a particularly complicated bustle job, which she also color-coded super clearly so it was easy to tie up without her help - my planners were admiring it while bustling me, saying that they'd never seen such a nice job before. Amanda is also super chill/calm and down to earth, which was a welcome change from the energy of the bridal dress shop scene and the general wedding planning frenzy. 10/10 would recommend!
