Great BBQ - 4 stars…read more Amos & Amos is a quirky place. And I have to admit, I love the weirdness. According to the owner, they've been around for 9 years. But the building itself is an old A&W drive-in fast food joint, built in 1953. Very cool! Most people seem to drive around the back of the building and pull into one of the parking spots that were "order from your car" spaces back in the day. Or you can just park on the street. Then you walk up to the window and place your order. Easy, right? This is where it starts to get weird. The sliding order window has 2 basement window well covers bolted over the sliding doors, like a big clam shell. The owners cut a flap in the bottom that only opens from the inside. Apparently, this is some sort of home-made do-it-yourself security thing. It seems to do the job...but you can't talk to them and they can't hear you until they slide open the door and then shout through the clam shell. And they don't seem to be in a hurry to do anything. I stood around like an idiot for a while, watching the lady, until she FINALLY slid the door open and talked to me. Kinda hard to hear through the big plastic clam shell. Speaking of shouting...you wait in your car or stand outside for 15 or 20 minutes and they yell when your food is ready. You can't hear what they're saying when they shout...but it all seems to workout okay. Like I said - quirky. LOW CARB: Okay, on to the most important thing: the food. I got the rib tip combo meal with a big hot link. Both were excellent. The rib tips were amazingly tender and lathered in generous amounts of a sweet sauce. Great taste. My hot link was huge and flavorful. For some reason, it reminded me of a big blood sausage. Good stuff. Unfortunately, you can't get any meat without sides. And all of the sides are plants. So in addition to my meats, I received and payed for unwanted carbohydrates of coleslaw, white bread toast, and a huge mountain starchy of fries. Those all came home with me to feed the Blue Jays and the Squirrels. That was kind of a waste of food but I had no choice about the high starch carbohydrate sides. I like this place. The meats are great. But it's a little frustrating if you eat low carb. It would be awesome if these guys sold meat by the pound, like many of the other BBQ joints. Oh, well. It was worth the stop. -Maxx

My husband likes to host what he calls a "Summer Solstice or Thereabouts" party each year. Some items for this party are easy - beer, lawn games, enthusiastic friends. Other things, like barbecue, we decided were best left to a professional... The BBQ for our party was provided by Joel at Six One Two 'Cue. Joel and Erik at 612Q are true BBQ masters. The dry rub ribs they made were phenomenal - perfectly seasoned meat falling right off the bone. Even non-rib enthusiasts were converts by the end of the day. Also included - a keg of homemade limeade (AMAZING.... throw a little vodka in and you've got yourself a party in a cup). The best part of the whole thing (okay, second best to the food): Set-up, including the super legit 17' smoker, and clean-up were all included. Note: A big 17' smoker will impress your friends. Their whole set-up is perfect for bbqs, grad parties, groom's dinners, whatever. I am also told that if you'd prefer to just pick up the food, you can do that as well. Six One Two 'Cue gets an enthusiastic (and barbecue sauce covered) 2 thumbs up from this girl. Now if only we could figure out a way to have Six One Two 'Cue do all of our cooking..... Side-note - I couldn't find an official website, but it looks like they have one in the works. Six One Two 'Cue has a solid presence on Facebook & Twitter though.

Just as I was lamenting the lack of good food options here, I came across this empanada stand near my gate. I ordered three empanadas: the chicken, the beef, and the spicy beef. The first two were decent, not bad but nothing special. But the spicy beef empanada is the single best empanada I've had in my life. I know that sounds crazy. But seriously, this random empanada stand at this airport has my favorite empanadas I've ever had. The spicy beef is perfectly seasoned and moist. The outer shell is the perfect crispiness and not too thick. This is now my go-to place whenever I come to this airport in Minneapolis. Obviously not much service or ambiance to speak of since it's next to the airport gate. But my rating is just for the food.

Unfortunately, they were out of most empanada by 7 am! I had my eye on a spinach and feta one but the person in front of me bought the last one. They were also out of everything other than the spicy beef and spicy chicken options. Hoping as they ramp up they can plan better and stock more. Also, the price is pretty expensive, about $7-8 for a very small empanada, but again, I understand it is airport pricing.

The crepes were perfect and delicious. They have a variety of options from sweet to savory [I tend to like savory more]. The staff were really friendly and accomodating to our diet restraints. I love the ambiance of the cafe; as someone who has been to Paris it gave the appeal that I was there again. The prices are pretty fair especially compared to some other creperie options in town. Parking however can be a challenge; that part of Selby ave is limited for parking due to so much in that area. It would however be a perfect idea to either walk, bike or even catch uber/lyft and venture to some the neat shops in the area.

The savory crepes are light but filling with some traditional offerings and some less, like L'Italien (pizza crépe). The sweets choices are varied and scrumptious. Light texture, subtle flavor, and some straightforward toppings and other combinations that are show-stopping.
