I had a great experience at Glowout! I was able to book my appointment online the day of. Everyone was so friendly and the salon has a beautiful vibe. Yaneli did a great job on my hair. Will definitely be back in the future, would love to try out the tanning services next! read more

With the number of glowing reviews the salon has, I expected my spray tan to be perfect and I'm disappointed to say it wasn't. I carefully followed the guidelines on their website in preparing for my appointment and advised the technician about my retinol use. I've only gotten a spray tan one other time at another salon and though the tan itself was not great, it really seemed like that technician had a lot of experience and guided me through the process. At Glowout, this was not the experience I had. Overall, the tan is okay though it's definitely uneven in some parts, my face was incredibly splotchy the following day, my hands were orange, particularly in my knuckles and both of my elbows were streaky. I'm not sure if this was just an isolated situation or if the tech is relatively new but after this experience, I think I'd be better off using self tanner at home. She did follow up with me the day after to check in about my tan and provided a few options for correcting the issue, one being to purchase Nair or to rub gently on the areas in the shower. I used an exfoliating scrub multiple times in the shower, made a paste from baking soda and lemon juice, tried using a little Windex and also sat with the solution used to remove hair dye from skin - I don't think any of these actually helped to lighten my hands or even out the streaks on my elbows. Maybe the quality of your spray tan here is dependent on the technician and I would have had a better experience with someone else but overall, my first impression of this salon wasn't great and I don't think I'd go back. read more

I've come here for airbrush tans multiple times, including a few days my wedding day (after much deliberation!) - they did an absolutely FABULOUS job (especially Jenn). The ladies who work here are proud of their salon, their work, and are completely professional. They take the time to get to know you and make sure you are happy with everything - they really, really care!!! My tan lasted for quite a while and did not turn out streaky at all. They give helpful and practical self care tips for making the tan last as well. Come here if you want the perfect tan (sans skin damage!). Need to check out their blowout and nail services too - I bet they are awesome as well :) read more

I have very fair skin and have been getting spray tanned for years. I've gone to several places in the city, and I recently discovered Glowout. It's the absolute best! The tan and the service are both amazing. read more

Loved the spray tan I got! It looks super natural and was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be going back.

Beautiful facility, incredibly friendly staff and got a wonderful spray tan with Jen! The salon is very clean, Jen made me super comfortable. Express tan was done less than 48 hours before my wedding, I showered twice the day after the tan and was glowing! Only tiny, tiny issue was that I had booked a regular tan, not knowing that an express would be better, so I was recommended the express when I arrived, which I agreed to. I just wasn't made aware of a price change. (55 to 65 as the website currently shows). However, my card was charged $78. Even if it were $65 plus tax, that still would not add up to 78; again, this is very minor, but a receipt was never emailed to me so I'm not sure if there is an extra tax in place due to the virus or if the website doesn't have accurate pricing at the moment. Either way, will definitely be back, thanks so much for the extra confidence on my wedding day! read more

This place is awesome! Took a bachelorette group of 10 here to get dolled up for the night and had a blast. The service and hospitality were more than we could have asked for. It's definitely a chill but lively atmosphere :) I would DEFINITELY recommend this place!! Thanks for such a great experience. We'll be back :) read more

I was able to use a Gilt City voucher to get a blowout here, and had a great experience with Katie! Some spots will treat you like a "second class citizen" when you use such deals, but Katie was super sweet from the get go. I have really curly hair and she gave me a fun, bouncy blowout that was exactly what I described to her. Great location right off the blue line, and a warm, cute space. read more

The only place I trust for spray tans! Always natural looking with a seamless fade. There are a lot of places in the beauty industry that do good work, there aren't a lot of places that FEEL great to be at AND do great work! These women here treat you like family, provide good convo and have such a warm, nurturing nature. I believe in spending my money at places that pay it forward with their energy. This is where it's at, girls. Thank you, Glowout : ) read more

This is the first time I have ever bothered to write a Yelp review! Yaneli gave me an air brush tan last Tuesday for my upcoming vacation and a wedding. She was professional and efficient and really made me comfortable during my 2nd ever air brush tan. 6 days later my color still looks great and has hardly faded. Unfortunately as I was heading out, an unexpected rainstorm started and I didn't have an umbrella or jacket. The woman working at the front desk (whose name is escaping me) walked me out to my uber with her umbrella and gave me a sponge to buff out the tan that spread. I got home in a panic after I realized I still had some streaks on my forearms, and I called at 8:00 pm and they let me send photos for some troubleshooting tips! Everything worked out perfectly! I will never go anywhere else for a spray tan in chicago, and would recommend glowout to anyone (especially those who are apprehensive about spray tans like me!) read more

So glad I came across this place. I live in the south loop so driving all the way up to the LP area for a blow out can be a real pain...Enter Glowout! I've gone here twice so far for blow outs and they DO NOT disappoint. Brittany has given me fabulous hair both times. The first time my blowout lasted 5 days! The front desk staff is ALWAYS friendly and inviting. The place feels like home ,it's cozy, non-pretentious , and the service is stellar. Parking is relatively easy. Gotta love leaving a salon looking and feeling fabulous! Can't wait for my next blow out! read more

Best spray on tan experience to date! It was easy to get an appointment by just emailing Jenn. The space is nice! Easy parking although I just took the 20 bus from work. I had a wait just a bit while she was with someone else but while I waited I enjoyed some water w/ apples in it and the latest gossip mags. Jenn is super nice and friendly. I was very comfortable. She takes the time to find out what's the occasion, makeup and deodorant removal and even made sure that my white Kooba bag was not in harm's way. And she bends and moves you around like Gumby. There is not a spot on me that was missed. Then I got some Qtips for my ears and nose. It sounds funny but wow! Finally I got a little pot of lotion to take home because moisturizing is important to maintaining the glow. Jenn was thorough and makes sure you have the info you need to make your tan last a long time. She also says you can text her if you have any questions or emergencies. I felt good about that! The next time I need a healthy glow I'm coming back here. read more

Glowout took me by surprise. I can be a bit nervous to get my hair/makeup done. The ladies were so kind and attentive. I went in for a blowout and makeup, I had my baby shower at 1 and booked the appointment at 9:45. I was finished by 11, timing was perfect. Yaneli did my hair and makeup. She was friendly, professional and attentive. I had so many compliments on my hair and makeup at the shower! I loved the Salon, it is very stylish and fun, even the music being played created a great atmosphere. I would recommend Glowout to all my friends. Thank you so much! read more

I love some Golden Girl Chicago! Being tan this time of year is such a positive energy boost! You may be thinking...it's May, it's almost summer. Yes, that's right but....today, in Chicago, it was 45 dang degrees out. Yuck! Plus, a serious lack of sunlight from Dec-April. So, you want a nice spring tan (nothing too dark) and you don't want to do harmful things to your skin? If so, Jenn is your gal. She is super sweet, always rocks a sassy Floridian tan (so you know you can trust her) and will help make you look just the right shade considering your skin tone and the time of year. She sprayed me last Wednesday for my Bachelorette party on Saturday. It was perfect! Emmet Rhode Salon in Lincoln Park is smallish but super cute inside and Jenn has a seperate area in the back for tanning. Golden Girl's website gives all the pre and post tan procedures (very good to follow) but Jenn was kind enough to remind me anyway. I've used Jenn a few times now, always with wonderful results, she's a doll and I highly recommend her for tanning. read more

Overdue Update: Golden Girl Chicago has progressed again. Now there is a permanent space! I'm sad that the mobile aspect is gone but you have to give this entrepreneur her props. Jen--and partner Amie have established a following, created a great loft space and continue to expand a spectrum of excellent services. I am so impressed with this operation. At the end of the day, you go where the service is good so I highly recommend this shop. Check them out as they have many accolades outside of my opinion. Golden Girl continues to do what she set out to do--make people glow! UPDATE: Chicago's Golden Girl has expanded her business well with the addition of an equally talented and professional partner Amie. In addition to expanding her network of satisfied clients and a fully enhanced website this entrepreneur has retained her vision and impeccable level of service. I opt for the monthly plan now not just because Jen is impeccable at what she does but because she understands the balance between service and quality results. This is truly a good gal with a good vibe. Never late--never misses an appointment--never short changes or compromises. Golden Girl Chicago is a rare business and I can't wait to see Jen take this operation to the next level. That aside, the tan rocks and lasts a long time. Things are truly glowing at Golden Girl Chicago! This service is amazing! Jen comes to your house with a great personality and a great service that is priced right. She uses top of the line products and is a class act all the way. I tried this once after an uneven burn from vacation and was hooked. read more

Never had a spray tan because I am an African American, and my skin is already tan. My issue is I hate the sun, and my skin is very uneven in places. Loved this place so much. The owner made my tan skin a beautiful bronze color! I think the whole process took 10 minutes. Also, the salon is just super cute and feminine. I'll be back for sure. read more

Let me start off by saying I pride myself in being professionally bronze. I have been to EVERY single airbrush tanning facility in the city. Not joking...sad, I know. I came across Jenn after talking to several friends who work on camera and in media - they ALL used Jenn. I dropped my old go-to, and got my first tan from Jenn. It was the most natural looking airbrush I have ever gotten. Never orange or unnatural, always sunkissed. No orange palms, no streaking. Truly flawless. Jenn is such a great gal, she makes you feel at ease and always has great music suggestions (go ahead as ask her!). She comes in, pops up her tent wherever you are, and leaves 20 minutes later, leaving you glowing. She is one of the sweetest gals you'll ever meet. I have been getting my weekly airbrush from Jenn for almost a year now, and will never stop. She is a true tanning expert and makes sure she is on top of the industry to provide top-notch, professional results for her clients. read more

I usually do not write reviews but I thought my spray tan experience might be helpful for someone. First and foremost, they do a really great job being thorough, professional, and efficient with their spray tan. Unfortunately, my tan came out not dark enough to my liking. Naturally I have a nice baseline color year-round so with the spray tan I looked a shade or two darker than my natural skin color. Thus, it wasn't a big enough change for anyone to notice or comment on it. No one noticed. No one. In my pictures I can't really tell that I got a spray tan either. I was hoping for it to develop to a tan you get when you come back from a nice Caribbean vacation. (Don't you love it when you come back from a vacation nicely tan and someone asks you whether you've been on vacation?) Anyways, for girls (or gentlemen) looking to get a nice natural healthy glow - this is exactly what you're going to get. Not a single part of your body will look particularly tan but you'll have that overall sun-kissed glow. Additionally, for some reason the products in the spray tan made my skin breakout in chest, shoulder, neck, and face area. I haven't had breakouts in a very long time so that is very unfortunate. Finally, my tan is coming off in patches. I haven't had that happen to me before (sprayed at different salons). It would usually fade away nicely almost like a natural tan but not this time. I kept showering with Cetaphil to preserve my spray tan and it started to come off all at once in little over a week after being sprayed. Maybe this is what caused it to come off like that. Again this is my personal experience. Hope this helps! read more

This isn't your every day tanning salon. It's an adorable tanning boutique that's both chic and inviting. From the front desk to the experience (both spray tanning and hair by Katie so far) have far exceeded my expectations. They also do makeup, nails, hair and hold parties for events if you're looking for a girls day out or a groups looking to get ready for an event. I had my hair done for a wedding and I felt like a princess. My spray tan lasted about a week and a half and I felt like a tan goddess. You won't regret a trip here! read more

I travel alot, but the only person I let cut my hair is Amie! She always makes me look stylish and beautiful! She is always professional, knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. She also has great tips for styling and keeping your hair healthy and can always answer any of my questions. I don't color my hair, but I have seen Amie fix some major color disasters - she really knows her stuff! I've recommended Amie to my friends and family and would recommend her to anyone who is looking to get an amazing cut/color! read more

All I can say is Wow! What an amazing and exceptional service. I was in town for a wedding. I called Friday afternoon to make a 9am appointment for Saturday. Although they were booked, Earl moved some people around and provided me with a reservation. Literally he got this done in about 10 minutes max. At first I was just excited to go get my hair done at such a chic salon. After they went out of their way for me, I had a enormous smile on my face the rest of the day. When I showed up for my appointment, they were there greeting me with happy smiles. And as if things could not get better, my hair looked spectacular for the wedding. Even my boyfriend enjoyed waiting for me to get primped as he was showered by attention from Lady, the cutest pup around. Definitely going back and everyone should be going to this salon. Thank you for a fantastic experience!! read more

Awesome place!! Got a voucher for a blowout and mani pedi. Blowout was great I had Kate who was really personable and did exactly what I described. Then on a separate visit a mani pedi w Jen. I have gotten blowouts here with Ashleigh and Miakela and they were both FANTASTIC! I have really thick, long, unruly hair and was so impressed that they both were able not to just tame it but have it look amazing and spot-on with my requests. Some of the best blowouts I've ever had and at a reasonable price, too! Plus the owner, Jenn, has been really helpful and accommodating with last-minute requests, etc. and the salon has a great atmosphere (freshly made coffee drinks, magazines via ipod). Thanks ladies, I'll be back! :) read more

Brittany is my fav! I go to her for blowouts before weddings and special events. I have very difficult thick hair that is no challenge for Brittany. One time Brittany was booked and I tried another blowout bar in River North - 2 additional girls had to step in and help my original stylist with my hair. The bosslady Jen is a sweetheart and always makes me feel welcome. If I could afford it I would get a blowout weekly here. read more

I went in for the first time this weekend and was so impressed! Devin did my hair for a weekend and I got so many compliments! Came in for a spray tan from a recommendation from a friend. It was the best spray tan I've ever gotten! Such a natural glow and does not have the obnoxious smell of most spray tans. Unfortunately I am just visiting in town- otherwise I would be here every week! In love with everything about Glowout. Jenn and Katie are so sweet and completely make you feel comfortable and help to educate you on any questions you may have. The studio is so clean and decor is so cute. A true full service stop! Be sure to pick up their tan spray and fave 4 hairspray on the way out- my two favorite products in my cabinet! Thanks again Glowout!! read more

I came here a few days before my wedding without a prior trial (I live in Memphis at the moment). I figured I could always wash it off if the color was wrong or looked orange. I AM SO GLAD I trusted the reviews and came to this place. She did a phenomenal job and my tan looked natural and people asked me if I had a facial because my skin glowed. I highly recommend this place! read more

I just moved here from Milwaukee and needed to find my new go to spray tan spot. I am so happy I found it on the first try! Lola did my tan and she did a spectacular job. The tan was flawless and when it finally faded you could barely tell. There were nonweird streaks or spots at all. Lola was also super friendly and chatty and made me feel completely comfortable. I would highly recommend to anyone! I just wish they had a frequent tanner punchcard :) read more

I tried DryBar a few months ago and was pretty disappointed, which made me burnt out on dry bars for a bit. I could do as good of a job as the girl at DryBar for none of the cost. However, I currently can't hold a hair dryer for an extended period of time, so I needed to request the assistance of a professional. After reviewing a couple of options on yelp, I decided to give Glowout a try - it's fairly close to where I live, the prices are competitive, and the reviews are outstanding. I was not disappointed! Brittany immediately understood what I was going for - a solid style that would last a few days. At first I thought she had gone too curly and I doubted her promises that if I wrapped it in a loose bun, it would look great the next day. It looked great out the door, and I was pretty content with that. Well, here I am 24 hours later, and it looks as good if not better than it did yesterday! I now understand why people go for regular blow outs. I can't wait to find another excuse to go back. I want to try the tanning services for sure, and I will definitely be scheduling another blow out with Brittany!! read more

I've been to numerous spray tan salons across Chicago and none has appeared as natural as Golden Girl. My fiancé commented on how great it looked from the moment I walked out (no initial orange hue). I am about as white as a girl can be.....never had a tan, never been able to tan and have spent the summers walking around like some albino while everyone else looks beautiful with their sun-kisssed skin. That all changed for me this past weekend when I went for my spray on Tan at Golden Girl Chicago. I am happy to report that for the first time in my life I am proud to show a little skin and not be embarrassed that people are having to put sunglasses on to shield themselves from the blinding light. Jen was absolutely fantastic. Put me at ease while I stood in my undies as she sprayed (this, to me, is pure professionalism and I appreciated her efforts). She was very thorough and would not let me leave till she had inspected her work to make sure she had not missed any spot. She makes herself available via phone or email at all times for if you have questions. AND SHE WANTS YOU TO CALL. She made that very clear to me as I was leaving. A bit pricey but ya know what.....I'd gladly pay more for the quality and professionalism I received. Can't wait to go back! read more
