I called to get a massage and they had a massage and facial special so I went for it. Nini was very welcoming, I like that they have mimosas and other beverages available for you to sip on. The room was spacious and clean and they def had the mood music playing so definitely felt like how a spa is supposed to feel. The facial was good but I felt like i spent too much time just laying there with the steamer, I also had some visible scarring from the extractions for 2 days. The massage was ok I had explained I was a runner and will like to focus more on my legs and my lower back/hip area but it felt like how those post surgery massages are supposed to feel. I waited few weeks to make this review to see how my skin was going to react after my first facial! I loved the fact I called last minute and Luis was able to fit me in. He was very courteous on the phone. The room was clean even thou they were remodeling. Leandra took good care of my skin, she was very knowledgeable and caring. I love this place and now they extended the back so now is bigger. Luis is amazing, we got there a little late because of traffic and they received us with a smile & accomodated us. Luis is so friendly I think I keep going back just for him lol, but overall the ladies were amazing. I did the couple massage with the facials. My only complaint was that they dont put a bolster under the knees so my lower back was hurting and i was extremely cold because my therapist would put oil on both my legs at the same time and leave it uncover so you get very cold. I recently moved and was looking for a new place to get a wax. I researched and Yelped and found Glow Spa. I am SO happy I did!! When I got there the ladies were very friendly and welcoming. They offered me something to drink. Of course I had a Mango Mimosa it was so good, perfect for getting me ready for what I was about to go through HA! They took me to the back and did the damn thing! Just left Glowspa after an amazing facial absolutely loved it, Paola is the best! She's so cute and friendly, she goes through the entire process and takes out anything that's not supposed to be in your skin. Had my first appointment last night - the music and ambience are relaxing, the owner offered me a beverage, and the service was great. They were late in getting to my appointment which I didn't love on a weeknight but I appreciated that they upgraded my facial as a result. As someone who gets a facial every month or every other month I guess you can say I'm a spa enthusiast. I originally booked a facial appointment with Glow Spa earlier in the morning but had missed the appointment because I overslept through two alarms. I ended up booking an appointment later in the day under an alias. Upon arrival the spot is very nice they have very relaxing spa music in the background and I was greeted by a gentleman who offered me a drink. They are well-equipped with juices, wines, tea and coffees. The man at the front desk was very accommodating, nice and charming and proceeded to have conversations with all the ladies in the waiting area. At one point he also apologize for them running a little bit behind even though I didn't mind because I was probably about two minutes late myself. A few minutes later, a woman came out, pointed at me and said "come", no introduction, no hello how are you and she didn't even call my name out to see if I was the correct client, ok. I proceeded to follow her into a room where she told me to disrobe, put on a robe, lay down and walked out. When I was all settled onto the table another woman walked in, no introduction, no hello, she told me that I was laying in the wrong direction on the table so I switched and then she asked me if it was my first time at the spa to which I answered yes. I'm assuming her name was Ingrid because that's what all the certifications on the wall read. Without warning she flashed a very bright light into my face and examined my skin, proceeded to tell me that my skin was oily and I need to moisturize, asked me what products I was using etc...after that she started to wash my face in a sort of rushed motion, not slow or soothing at all, wiped the product off my face, then proceeded to paint on my face with what felt like a light scrub cream (I'm just going by what it felt like because she wasn't giving me a step by step or anything), leaves it on my face then walks out of the room for a few seconds, comes back in and scrubs my face with whatever product she previously put on, it was kind of dry and not very wet, then she wiped that off, put what felt like wet paper on my face, sprayed the paper with more water and left me under the steamer, I was probably under the steamer about 3-4 minutes then she told me we were going to start the extractions (normally my least favorite part) but fortunately this was actually the most pleasant extraction process I've received at a spa, mostly because she didn't use any needles or instruments, just just her finger tips to extract. During the extractions was the only time she was very chatty with me, she suggested a few other treatments the spa offered for the future. After the extraction she wiped my face again, told me she was going to put on a moisturizer followed by a papaya mask. While I was sitting with the mask on I didn't receive a neck or shoulder massage like the brochure said I would. Instead I received a very rough arm and hand massage, I say rough because she was aggressively massaging my arm and hurting my wrist bones, and at one point it felt like she was literally going to rip my arm off with all the pulling and tugging. I don't know, maybe some people like that but that was my least favorite part. After the massage she took the mask off, wiped my face again and put on a moisturizer/sunscreen then said I was done. Instead of leaving the room she proceeded to stay and clean up her station, so I was left to get dressed while she was still in the room. Luckily I'm not a shy person but any other person might find that awkward and inappropriate. Other spas always give you the privacy, not this one apparently. So my overall experience at glow spa was just ehhh. As someone who usually pays $120-150 for a facial up in Yonkers, I wanted to find a spa closer to home (glow is only 10 blocks from me) and for the price of $60 for a facial I thought it was a hit. But I learned that a $60 dollar facial is EXACTLY what you get here, no special treatment, not a very soothing atmosphere since the light in the room was on the entire time during my facial, at one point she turned on a machine I think or what sounded like a small vacuum cleaner in the room which took away from the music, never covered my eyes from the bright lights. This spa I guess doesn't include a high frequency treatment which most other spas include with the facial. She also never walked me out of the room and I had to ask which way to exit. I was really rooting for this place because they had very nice reviews among some mixed ones as well. I will probably not be returning but I do advise to owner or management that they make sure to inform the girls of proper etiquette and at least introducing themselves to clients upon meeting them, it is very important for those clients (like me) who take customer service seriously. This place is very unprofessional. Went here for a facial and was very disappointed. Stopped by glow spa the other day and unfortunately I can't recommend this place. First when I got there no one was at the front desk. I waited a good 5 minutes before anyone came out and asked if I needed help. Nothing fancy but moderately adequate. The massage was just ok. Didn't really work out any of my knots or anything. It was not very peaceful as I could hear the other workers talking very loudly and I could hear the person in the room next to me as well. Been here twice both times I had to wait an hour after my appt time to be seen. The first time I had a facial and sugar wax. Both were just ok. I also notice customer service is inconsistent they offer some people drinks, some they don't. The first time I went to get sugar waxing and it was the worst experience.Way to expensive and the sugar waxing was horrible I was still left with many hairs on my legs. The second time I went to get eyelashes extensions the girl Mayoli did a horrible job, she glued some lashes on the lid and when i ask to correct it bc it looked off she refused and said she took 2 hours with me. She might be certified in many of the services they do that doesn't mean she has great experience and worst you end up paying for a botched service. If I could give no stars I would. It's ashame that the ambience is damaged by lack of professionalism. I went here for a wax and the lady did not follow osha guidelines. Nor did she finish her job. I had to remove the wax from my own arm and in the middle of the wax she left to get the owner because she clearly couldn't clean the mess she made. Walked in very friendly greeting received a much needed mimosa with my permission of coarse! I was expecting a skin analysis questionnaire like most places I've gone too but I didn't get one not that it would of made a difference because I feel like most places just use facial products for sensitive skin. Warning: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I came into this place to get a bb glow treatment and the two persons who did the treatment clearly knew nothing about how to administer it. The color selected was three shades darker than my actual complexion. I asked the worker to fix the pigment because it was way too dark. She said they tried mixing two colors to match my complexion. But that clearly wasn't the case. I looked like I had a mask on and then she takes me back to the room, the whole time speaking in Spanish to another worker and vigorously rubbing the color foundation off my face with late gloves which was very irritating and made the skin even more inflamed and darker. Needless to say I requested a refund and I was sent a text asking for pics, so that they can keep it for their records, you've got to be kidding me! Please for your own good, stay away from this spa, the workers need to get real training on how to administer spa procedures that the customers are paying good money for. I was running late due to the parking situation so that's a downer but it's in the dyckman area, if ur from here, u know to expect parking to be an issue.
