We shared a margherita pizza and Greek salad for dinner when we dined in. The pizza was good, probably an average example but with a very tasty crust. We really enjoyed the Greek salad...fabulous dressing. Our service was very friendly and attentive. The prices seemed likely on par for the area. It looked like they had 3 dining areas (a small front room, larger back one apparently not in use, and a separate open air patio). This is a great date night/celebration location for a dinner with friends and loved ones. Glover Park Grill has both indoor and outdoor seating areas, and the outdoor patio area has a nice ambiance and pretty lights. Guests did not have to be patrons of the hotel, and it also seemed to be family/kids friendly. The food was great, and the drink options were really nice too. The staff was polite and friendly, and also had no problems with making recommendations when requested by guests. I had the herb chicken, which came in an amazing sauce and also had a side of veggies and rice. The fish and chips was also really good, and came with some nice sauce options on the side. Opened during the pandemic, Glover Park Grill is an example of a new way to fine dine. Located inside Glover Park Hotel, the restaurant is a bit more formal. However, to meet city regulations, they set up a large outdoor heated patio for their patrons. As you walk up, the lights strung along the patio give it more of a casual vibe. Then a hostess greets you starting service that is more formal. It's a tension that wouldn't work outside of the pandemic, but is refreshing during it for those who miss a step up from takeout and fast casual. After dining at Glover Park Grill on a Saturday night with my house (my wife, toddler and housemate), I recommend making reservations. Here's why: 1) Safety: You reserve an outdoor table online to help with contact tracing. The moment you arrive, a masked hostess gives you hand sanitizer to use before sitting down. The patio is open-air, spacious and tables are spread apart appropriately. Every staff member is masked and keeps their distance as they take orders, bring food, etc. Menus are scanned using a smart phone and the bill is settled online to minimize touch. 2) Food: The menu is large without it being overwhelming. They have small plates, entrees that are accessible, entrees that are a bit more fancy, dessert and a generous kids menu. Each dish we ordered we enjoyed- Caesar salad, crunchy fried chicken sandwich, homemade cavatelli, pasta with tomato sauce (from the kids meal) and warm chocolate chip cookies. The standouts were the crunchy fried chicken sandwich (now on my top five best fried chicken sandwiches in the city thanks to the jalapeno honey) and chocolate chip cookies (one of the best in D.C.). 3) Drinks: They have a diverse menu with cocktails, beer and a generous wine list. I ordered a glass of riesling for $11. 4) Atmosphere: For a pandemic outdoor space, they did a great job. The set up is simple, but still inviting, elegant and welcoming. In addition to tables, they have cushioned outdoor sofa for small groups. There are enough heaters throughout that you stay warm even though the patio has no walls. There is a roof to keep out rain. 5) Service: Staff strike a good balance of being attentive and friendly, but still professional and on point. If you miss dining out, but want to do it safely, make a reservation at Glover Park Grill. If you have kids, there's a large playground at nearby Guy Mason Recreation Center that's a lot of fun. read more

We had a 6:45pm reservation. When we arrived, the sign at the entrance said seat yourself. That must have been a sign about things not being right here. The tables we wanted had not been cleaned, so we grabbed another since we did not want to wait and it looked like there was nobody available to clean them. By the time we finished our meal, the same tables were still dirty. The floor of the patio area vibrated and rumbled occasionally. Very strange. The service was pretty good. The server gave recommendations and was polite and timely. The food however, was extremely disappointing, especially for the price. My wife got a pizza, and it tasted like the dough and some of the ingredients were from the freezer section of a grocery store. I got lobster ravioli - the shrimp had tails on (biggest pet peeve of mine), and the overall dish was mediocre. At least when we let the server know about our disappointment, she discounted some of our items. But it's not about the money. It's about serving quality food like you actually care. Came here on a Friday last week. The staff was friendly and accommodating (despite several very entitled guests complaining in a way that was pretty disrespectful to the staff). We sat near the bar and in fact the bartender - Walton, great guy - took our orders at our table. He made a delicious gin martini (we may have had one or two too many) using some type of gin I'd never tried before. The food was good but not great. We ordered the Beef Tenderloin and Rainbow Trout. The beef tenderloin was very good but the fish was way too salted. All in all I would come back because of the drinks and bartender, but the food was somewhat forgettable. read more

A very nice hotel restaurant. Food was above average if not exceptional, but well-priced. Service was over-the-top, but there was never more than one other table to serve. Ambiance was fine: a small, cozy dining area around a very well-stocked bar. There was bossa nova-ish lounge music at an appropriate volume. A wood panel was missing from the wall behind my table. We had a very tasty, large burger with fantastic fries. I should have noticed that it was garnished with a little Russian dressing? The lasagna was good, served with garlic/herb bread and ample enough to take home leftovers. The crab cake sandwich with fries was enjoyed, but didn't make an impression. This is a great place to cool your heels while waiting for a nearby appointment: but not necessarily a destination. There's a lot of competition and other attractions to the south in central Georgetown. The Happy Hour may be worth checking out, especially if it draws hotel guests. read more

We were seated and after 10 minutes still got no server taking our orders or giving us some water....not to mention take our beverage order. I went up to the host to ask for a server to take our order. The food was served quickly, but they tasting very good. I ordered a lemonade, but it tasted like lemon water and not cold. I mentioned this to the server when he offered a refill, but the refill was the same. It was $4...way over priced for water with a bit of lemon flavor. We ordered a NY pizza and a meatball linguine. The mozzarella cheese had no taste, and the meatball sauce tasted very starchy and bland. The table felt sticky. The busboy sprayed cleaning solution, smelled like Windex, to the table next to us. Oh YUMMM! Welcome to GP - so excited to write this review. This was my second visit, and like the first, it didn't disappoint. We made a reservation on the terrace and I'm so glad we did! The vibrant colors give and upbeat feel, which makes you temporarily forget it's winter and we're still in pandemic mode. The patio was warm and cozy, and the tables were perfectly (and safely) spaced. Our first course was the spicy deviled eggs, and for our entrees we ordered the homemade cavatelli (plenty of lump crab meat!) and rainbow trout. Both were delicious but the trout was hands down THE BEST. My friend asked for extra veggies instead of potatoes and they gladly obliged. The chocolate banana bread pudding is AMAZING and my friend who isn't one for unnecessary calories, said it's 1000% worth it. Let's not forget about the cocktails... the cider smash was delicious. Not overly cidery, which I was excited about. Love this place and can't wait to return. read more

I have been to Glover Park Grill before but did not recognize it from the pictures! location: It is located in the Glover Park Hotel, a few blocks from BreadSoda/ Wingos. (right next to Russian embassy) We went for Restaurant Week, a 35$ special for an appetizer, a main course & a dessert. Everything was amazing; what's really cool is they have upgrades for an additional price, which allows you to really experience what they offer. Dress: fancy casual, or you could dress it up! Amazing place for a date night They have outdoor and indoor seating; they take covid very seriously. Drinks: Delicious and STRONG! (great price for DC as well) The Fall Smash was my favorite & they had my boyfriend's favorite whisky from Utah! Food: Appetizers: Smoked Salmon toast: amazing, It is pastrami smoked salmon on a thick toast, and the sauce was just amazing. Crab Cake: Fresh crab and only a 6$ add-on Main Course: Shrimp and Grits: Fantastic, the sauce was so good, and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. If you're looking for comfort food with a foodie edge, this is a great option. We ate on the porch, on a chilly night. Surrounded by feee-standing heaters we were warm and comfortable the entire meal. The drinks were generous and took the edge off a year that's been totally hard-edged. The only appetizer we had were the deviled eggs. Honestly, the value proposition was challenging. They were a bit pricy and as good as they were, I wouldn't order them again. Our entrees went from good to very good, of not great. The roast chicken was juicy and flavorful. The short-rib sandwich (their version of a cheesesteak held its own. They'd benefit from a bit of heat, or a source of umami. The pizza was extremely tasty. The crust is floppy which isn't my preference but not a deal breaker. The fries that came with sandwiches were crisp and perfect. Please don't get my review wrong. After arriving embarrassingly late for our reservation we were still able to be seated right away and everyone from the host to the waiters were attentive. We started with drinks and my sister wanted something a little sweeter than what was on the menu. The bartender made a drink special for her. I had a Prosecco that was very good. The appetizers that we had were delicious and the plating was beautiful. I had the crab cake that was cooked perfectly and not mushy on the inside like some can be. My sister had the shrimp and she was happy with it. We both had the chicken Parmesan, I was hoping for a little more wow, but it was good. The drinks menu is well put together and well priced all around. Glover Park Grill covers a few bases for a neighborhood in need of quality outdoor dining options. Their menu offers both more casual sandwiches and salads alongside elevated entrees that you'd expect from a hotel flagship restaurant. We've really enjoyed both tiers of the menu. It was quite large but they didn't even bother to toast the walnuts. Almost no dressing and an unripe avocado were additional issues. The pizza was decent but I saw photos of the NY style & it looked better! We got live music since it was Thursday and it was a Spaniardish duo, whom were lovely. Our service was good as well. Really no complaints about the outing, but they don't get 5 starts because it is so hard to actually go eat there. We stayed at Glover Park Hotel and after 6 hour drive decided to grab something to eat at Glover Park Grill. The girl who was taking our order does not seem to know what they have. According to her they only had Chicken Cesar Salad or hamburger with french fries... She also offered us some pastries that were on the counter. She brought us some water and a glass of Coke for my husband. There was a hair in the Coke and my husband asked her to replace the glass... She actually tried to remove this hair with her fingers first! We decided to leave and asked for our money back - at this place you pay in advance. She called the manager who was not happy and refused to give us a receipt. It was quite expensive, too. For 2 hamburgers and one Coke with hair garnish they asked over $30. This is a long overdue review. Back in October, I hosted a bridal shower at the Glover Park Grill. I can't say enough how accommodating and kind the owner and staff were, making sure all our needs were met. The food was incredible, drinks were amazing, and everyone loved the beautiful open space. I was a big fan of Casolare, the former restaurant in this space, so was a bit nervous about the new incarnation. (It does have the same owner.) My concerns were allayed! Glover Park Grill is very good -- strong cocktail menu, friendly service, and a heated patio. (Much appreciated in November.) I had their version of a "cheesesteak" -- a gourmet short rib sandwich with rosemary and home-made "whiz." Excellent -- and I'm still full a day later. The menu could use some work -- needs more vegetarian, or even pescatarian, options. But all in all, this is a very nice addition to Glover Park. read more

We ordered the restaurant week menu for two. (Actually, instead of ordering the restaurant week menu for two for $60, we had to order two $35 menus because we both wanted the same salad, and there was no option in the $60 for each person to get the same item). We called about an hour before to ask if they could have the food ready in 20 minutes early, fully expecting them to say no. To our pleasure, they said they could have the meals ready 10 minutes early. My husband picked up the food, and when he got home, as we were opening the bag, the restaurant called telling us they had forgotten to give us half the order. The caller implied it was our fault for rushing them. I didn't argue. My husband drove back, collected the food, and returned. We discovered what we thought was my salad--the one that made me pay $70 instead of $60--was a "free dessert." I don't want a dessert--I want a salad, and preferably in one trip, not two. We were staying at the Glover Park Hotel and decided to get a quick breakfast there before going to an event. We were sorely disappointed! We each ordered coffee and American breakfasts. The place was largely empty and there were at least 4 servers running around. Our entire stay was longer than 45 minutes. The servers were largely inattentive to us for serving coffee, taking our order, and bringing the check. The coffee, at least, was good. The food took a long time to arrive and everything was cold. The servers explained that there was a table of 8 in the other room, yet there were many other empty tables in the restaurant. I had ordered eggs sunny side up, hoping to mix them into the home fries. There were barely any home fries to do this with. The eggs still had uncooked egg white on top. Spreading cold butter on cold toast is difficult at best. The breakfasts were $18 each and the coffees were $4. We didn't complain too much because we were going to be late for our event. But, I will never eat there again. read more

Old Fashioneds had to be re-made as the bartender apparently forgot a dash a syrup to balance the cocktail. The food was good to average - Trout, burger and Cavatelli - but way overpriced for portion size and what a restaurant of this caliber should charge. Appetizers were lacklustre- shrimp cocktail had seen better days, wings with dried bleu cheese chunks on top were odd and the crabcake had more filler than lump. Overall disappointing. Overpriced. My fiancé and I are very patient diners, but this is the first restaurant we physically left mid meal. I say mid meal, but it was actually before our meal started because we had sat at our table for nearly an hour without even having drinks put down in front of us. We were seated and given glasses of water, and 20 minutes passed before our order was taken. Our waters were never refilled, and after an hour we decided to leave. We asked to cancel our orders and were told "hold on we have to check if you can". I was astonished. As homeowners in Glover park we were so excited to have a new restaurant, especially since we previously enjoyed Casolare so much. Sadly, I do not expect we will ever return and can not in good conscious recommend anyone else come here either. read more

This rating is for the Winter Wonderland pop up bar they have outside. It's such a good idea in theory and doesn't seem hard but the execution was terrible. My husband and I paid $45 per ticket plus tax online through their website. For each ticket we each got spiked hot chocolate, a cookie, a brownie, 3 small pigs in a blanket, 3 tiny finger sandwiches, and two sets of supplies to make s'mores. You can add on more foods or drinks from the menu if you want. You get a mini flame to roast your marshmallows over at the table. When we got there and mentioned our reservation name, the hostess mumbled something about having tried to reach us earlier that day but then seated us. We waited about 10-15 for water, then the hostess took our hot chocolate order. It arrived cold and then was even colder after we added the paired shots. Then the rest of our items arrived haphazardly while we noticed that other tables received all of their items together. No one specifically seemed to be taking care of us and it seemed as though the hostess was the one continuing to bring stuff to our table. Halfway through we were asked about our tickets and I showed ours to who had asked to see them. They indicated again that they had been somehow confused by them or something about our reservation. We found the way to the restroom ourselves since no one was coming by our table. No one pushed or asked us if we wanted to purchase or add on any extra items. Then at the end we asked the person clearing our table if we could leave a tip on a card and he went to ask someone else how to do so. Then he came back with a waitress who explained how we could leave a tip on the card and we told her we would like to do so. We waited another 15 minutes with no one coming by our table again and finally decided to just leave without leaving a tip at all. We tried twice to ask to do so and no one seemed to care. Was a cute idea in theory but all the wait staff just seemed confused and we felt invisible during our time there.
