Best hand wash car around. They do a great job and fair pricing for incredible detail - Inside and out!

I visited Glitz Car Wash on Clybourn this afternoon, and I won't be back. I requested the $5 spray wax add-on. Unclear if it was actually applied. The bigger issue was quality control and timing. I arrived around 11:40 a.m. and my car was treated as "finished" around 1:20 p.m. During that time, the workflow repeatedly stalled and appeared to shift between workers taking break mid-process. When someone stepped away, other staff who didn't seem trained on that station stepped in. The results showed. Wash/rinse: My car was moved forward from the wash area with visible soap suds still on the exterior. I pointed this out immediately, but nothing was corrected. Drying: The vehicle also wasn't fully dried. When I was asked to pay, there were obvious wet spots still present, including along the inward-facing sides of the roof rack rails. I raised it at the register, but the concern wasn't addressed. I'm posting this because it felt like the operation prioritized moving cars through over delivering a complete wash. What's frustrating is I had a great experience at the Glitz location on Augusta last month. That positive visit is the only reason I tried this location today. I'm confused by their hours of operation. It's 79 degrees and a sunny Monday morning. They are supposed to be open at 8am, however, all doors are shut and the phone is not attended to. This is the second time this has happened to me when visiting during their hours of operation.. read more

Closed over two hours before their posted closing time on a sunny Sunday. They were told by the owner they had to be closed by 3, but I was in line at 2 o'clock and still got turned away. There's no sign that says they are closed, so I was waiting behind cars for half an hour before an employee came out and told me they weren't taking more cars. Very disappointing. read more

I arrive after they opened at 8 AM, and there only one other car during my entire wash. At payment, they decided a Telluride is an extra large SUV and charged me $34, despite it being a medium or large on other occasions. The effort/quality was decent, but the price gouging after the work is done negates the value and is something to be aware of. I will not return. read more

This place is amazing! Cash only. $20+tip for car wash and some inside cleaning. My car looks brand new. They cleaned the dashboard, vacuumed the back and trunk and really did a great job. I think this may be the best car wash I've ever been to and so surprised by the pricing in the city! Feels safe with all the lighting and you can either sit inside in the elevated seating area or wait outside. read more

Outstanding work on my car, but I was frustrated with the lack of transparency in pricing. I technically have a small SUV (Subaru Forester) and they charged me for a large SUV. The larger BMW behind me was charged less than me. And my car had just been detailed in December so it's not like the upcharge was for a filthy car. Also, don't go on a warm day in the winter or risk waiting in line for 90 minutes. read more

Seems like every time I get a car wash at this place, the price is different! In May 2022, my CR-V was considered a small SUV - $22. In February 2023, the same car is considered a medium SUV - $28. I'm starting to wonder how much it's going to cost next time I need another car wash. The previous business at this location had consistent pricing for 10+ years, great deals for ladies/early-birds and never took more than 30 minutes from start to finish. Meh. I rolled up on a 50 degree day in Nov. There was a short line outside of their entrance garage.. Only 2 ahead before I'd be able to get out of my car.. You roll up.. No one tends to you. No one asks if you want exterior only or everything.. Confused after waiting 10min I Got out. Saw the cash only sign. There is an atm.. Charges $3 for a Transaction. No one acknowledged me waiting to pay.. I had questions. Finally my cars getting dried and they approach me... I asked if they could add on an airfreshner.. He did. Once I got in my car and drove home I saw that the tires and undercarriage were dirty the front hood had dirt marks still and while it's cleaner than the condition i brought it in it wasn't worth 28 dollars plus tip plus atm fees. It took 45m total. For reference I have an acura rdx. Riverview is about the same time.. Less money.. Better job better service. read more

This is the place to go if you want the best hand wash. They take their time on the interior and exterior. Sedans are $20 + tip and tipping is encouraged/deserved. There's usually a line so it takes longer than other car washes but it's worth it read more

Wash was well done, washed floor mats, inside and outside. But don't know why they don't post car sizes ahead of time. My car is always a car wash price never a large suv price... don't know that until after you are done. Also, there were some spots on the car that were not washed off. The wash itself is pretty good, but this place is so unreliable. They say they work from 8 am to 8 pm, but they are rarely open before 10 am and consistently closed by 4:30-5 pm. It's the least reliable business I have seen in a long time. I have had my car washed their 3 times so far, but have tried 7 times in total (4 out of 7 times they are just closed). read more

I've been going to this car wash for a while and have been generally satisfied with the experience. I went the other day and my total came up $5 more than it's always been and $5 more than the posted price. I asked if the prices increased. The seemingly wordless man at the checkout shrugged. I then suggested that the prices be updated on the sign. He mumbled a bit and seemed unconcerned. I feel like it was a slow day and they wanted a few extra bucks and rose the price an arbitrary amount. They'd get 10 stars from me for the quality of the hand car wash, and friendliness of the staff. It's always top-notch. Usually in and out in 20 minutes. Giving them minus 10stars for unreliability. Come on. It's the weekend, I don't have time during the week for a car wash. I drive 20 mins on a Sunday, to find the "sorry, closed" sign. First of all, you're not sorry, that's a hollow apology. You're cheap and you don't care about your customers or employees. I get it, if it's raining or snowing, but it's just cloudy today. No rain until Tuesday. This place is ok for me. I think the employees do a really great job cleaning the car; they're quite detailed. However, compared to Riverview and Elston Car Wash, they're pretty much nearly double the price. Riverview and Elston early bird: $8.95 Glitz: $14.95 For a medium sized crossover at regular price, my wash coated $24 before tip. On top of that, they don't have an undercarriage wash to get rid of the salt, and they ONLY accept cash. So if you don't have a debit card, you're kind of out of luck. Or if you wanted to use the ATM on site, expect transaction fees. Overall it's decent, but I wouldn't come back again. read more

Was a big fan of this car wash when it was under original ownership but it was swallowed by Glitz and the experience has gradually tapered off to the point where I probably won't return. They're plenty busy so there was a wait midday (no big deal) but after waiting an hour and watching the car get washed and rewashed and dried and redried, I had to leave for an appointment. Got into the car - hadn't been vacuumed and the interior hadn't been touched. In that hour, six cars in front of me were washed and dried and presumably vacuumed and there were no fewer than 12 guys working them all. I don't need super efficiency, but after 60 minutes I would like/expect a vacuum and a polish for $18. If you've got all day, perhaps a 5 star review. But I didn't, and it's become increasingly more frustrating on my last visits so I'll find a new spot now. read more

The regular car wash is $20 here as posted on their wall and their price list. When I went to pay for the service, i was told that it was $25. When I pointed out it says $20 on the wall, I was told the $5 is for the spray wax which I had never requested. I kept telling the guy I never asked for it and he said "someone told me". No one ever asked me anything when I got out of the car and he was the one who told me to get out.... I'm also not sure if they actually waxed my car. Very shady.... read more

This was a phenomenal hand car wash! A little expensive as hand car washes and of caliber usually are so not out of the ordinary. I got the full service wash for $18. But let me tell you, you know when car washes say inside and out abs you even see them doing stuff inside your car but when you get it back just inside just is not clean!? Not at glitz! They took such time and cars inside and out. Pulled out n cleaned mats, seriously vacuumed, wiped all down inside! Finally a car wash where the car was actually completely safely cleaned inside and out. It truly felt glitzed when I got it back abs I will definitely be coming back! read more

I have used this place for work and for personal use and they are by far the best detail shop I have ever used. They are definitely not the cheapest, so if that is your main objective, this is not the place for you. However, you definitely get what you pay for. Buyer Beware. This place considers a Jeep Grand Cherokee a large SUV, with a $31 price for a wash. Not sure what a small or medium SUV would be. This was my last trip here. It took over an hour to get through, with only one car ahead of me in line. read more

Got the outside washed, for the price, expected a little more thoroughness. $15 and tire dressing is supposed to be included. They forgot to put that on. Snow was melting and they are located by Metra bridges both by entrance and exit, so I wasn't going to get my car wet again because they overlooked something. Lots of patches they missed of salt on the bottom of the doors. This place is not worth it at full price, maybe if they had specials going on the oversights would have been acceptable. read more

They always do a terrific, thorough job... I've been here three times, and it's been great every time! The staff are also extremely nice; the first time I went, I didn't realize it was cash only... They let me leave (in my newly cleaned car) so I could go home and get cash to bring back, and they were so kind about it when it was clearly my mistake! read more

This is the kind of attention to "detail" you can expect from Glitz on Clybourn (see photos). How this place can even call itself a car wash is beyond me. As others have said, no one says anything to you when you come in. This was my first time here since the ownership changed a few months back. No one asks you what kind of wash you want i.e. interior, exterior, special add-ons, nothing. I waited 20 minutes until I mentioned to an employee passing by that I wanted a "full" wash. He just nodded and went about his business. I'm pretty sure the employees just have their own routine system and give everyone the same wash anyway. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the exterior wash was decent, however with the inside being left the way it is, I will NOT be going back. Also, be prepared to bring cash with you. They do have an ATM inside, however there is a $3 transaction fee per use. Before this place changed ownership, you could pay with CC, and leave a tip with your payment. This new place is a joke. read more
