This is a beautiful setting with a beautiful view of the Amalfi coast. Open only for dinner, we were seared on the terrace with a view of the coast. The evening air is a bit crisp, and they have some small heaters mounted on the overhead awning, but bring a light jacket. The service is impeccable and our seven course tasting menu dinner was sublime! We were celebrating a birthday and after a delicious dinner, they even brought out a birthday cake and the piano player played happy birthday while we sang to our birthday girl. My husband and I absolutely loved this place. From the moment we entered, we were greeted with warm servers who were exceptionally friendly and who, during the entire service, were extremely attentive to our every need, from determining our water needed a refill to assessing whether we were ready for another course or whether our wine/alcohol cups seemed a bit empty. And the sommelier on site was excellent. He was not pushy about which wine would pair best with which type of dish. Instead, he took time to speak with us at our table to determine which wines we normally enjoyed most and used such information to determine a relevant pairing. However, aside from the service, both the food and the ambiance were exceptional. We were seated in an area where we could enjoy the ocean view and atmosphere. The restaurant was also dimly lit with a live pianist, making for a very intimate atmosphere. The food was deserving of the Michelin star this restaurant achieved. Each dish was beautifully presented and contained a balanced harmony of flavors where no single element overpowered another. The proteins were perfectly cooked and it was obvious the chef was thoughtful in the flavor and element selection. Overall, this is a must try in Amalfi. read more

Food was excellent, if located in major city I think it would have 2 Michelin stars. But main motivation for writing this review is the service. 3 of us were there for dinner and we ordered a few items to share. The staff/kitchen individually plated everyone's portion so we didn't have to deal with it at the table. The sommelier's recommendations captured exactly what we asked for. Also, we're there for a birthday and they brought out a whole tiramisu cake to the table (which was delicious). We were in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast and this particular town is located up high in the mountains. It doesn't go to beachfront. We happened on this particular restaurant that was tucked away from the crowds, next to the Hotel Rufolo. I had a great pizza, you can guess what's in it by the pic. My bro had a pannino with pork and tomatoes. All excellent. Waitstaff a bit slow. read more

Americans are so used to these giant piles of food. The ambience was fantastic. I would go back again. The only con was the use of a "ladies menu." We had lunch here at Glicine. We happened to find it wandering around, checked Yelp, and it was a go. We sat outdoors under a canopy on a gorgeous September afternoon. The view from our table was one of the best I've ever had while dining; the mountains, landscape, houses, and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Perfetto! Service was good here although a tad slow; it was busy. This is the restaurant inside Hotel Santa Caterina. Pros: - the food is delicious and very upscale - you get a sample of multiple types of breads, chips, breadsticks, and dips complimentary. You also get a small complimentary dessert (ours was a pistachio palate cleanser) and three gastronomical starters. - presentation of food is beautiful - view of the Amalfi Coast is worth the price - service is incredible! - we got two orders of the cacio de pepe with scampi and split the lobster entree. - brought out birthday cake for my birthday dinner and sang happy birthday! - pianist played music all night during dinner Cons: - very expensive and very small portions - sommelier made us feel bad for not purchasing one of the 400 euro bottles he recommended, when we opted for a 50 euro bottle. I'm not the type of person to commonly go to a restaurant this fancy, and while I still wouldn't do it often, I am very glad we visited Glicine and gave it a try. From start to finish we were treated like royalty, which for two people coming off a week of backpacking, was charming from start to finish. We had a beautiful seat near to a window, there was live piano the entire time, the presentation of everything was superb. 80% of the food was superb with the occasional item tasting strange. However I would more likely contribute that to our un trained pallets rather than some error on the chefs part. Quality of food, presentation and portions were all amazing. We got snacks with our pre dinner drinks, bread and a pre desert all just extra on top of what we ordered. This restaurant is pricey but it is made up for with their extreme will power to serve you and make you feel special. Very happy we went and would absolutely recommend it to someone looking for a next level restaurant experience. read more
